Three Questions & “I Spit It Back At’em”

October 11th, 2018

And now more details have emerged on how Dirk Koetter surveyed his roster before the bye week.

Koetter himself wanted to clarify the process a bit during his standard pregame sitdown with Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com.

The head coach explained that he gave three questions to the entire roster and he was impressed with the honesty “from the practice squad guys all the way up to the top end of whoever you think our best player is.”

Koetter said he learned things and shared the results with the team, “I spit it back at’em,” in part to them know he was really listening.

There’s more nuggets in the video below, with Koetter talking about Ali Marpet’s new contract, saying Jason Licht gets a lot of credit for drafting him and Marpet’s gotten great coaching and his windfall was “well-deserved.”

I like this. At least everyone feels they have a say in this / a part in this.

    GO BUCS!

    Nice!

#KluelessKoetter is in full panic mode. As many in the building know he has LOST that locker room. He is doing everything he can to get it back. By taking a survey, asking players questions, whatever he did shows he knows the team is moving on without him and players are close to tuning him out. He knows he’s lost them.

    Buddy

I mean forgive a coach for trying to be in touch with his players. Geez dude.

    buddy knows. He’s the janitor.

The biggest test for Koetter in terms of losing the team was the final game last year. That was the perfect time for a group of quitters to just phone it in and go home. But they DIDN’T!!!

We’ll see what the rest of the season tells us about this team. I certainly haven’t given up though. I simply do not believe Koetter has lost this team.

  8. DayOnePaul Says:

Do you think Bill Parcells would have ever done this?
Oh, that’s right. He turned this ownership group down… Twice.

  9. Pryda...sec 147 Says:

Buddy that’s ludicrous! Lol thanks for the crazy theory The Godfather is carrying that big mofo stick and Jameis has scratched his surface a few times but this I think this is the season MVP level of play incoming! I can see it now Crowd doing Nole chant for him!

Ok. Keep drinking the KluelessKoetter Kool- Aid. We’ll see. Why hasn’t KluelessKoetter fired his BFF Smitty? Cause he’s not going to. He knows he’s out after this season and is going to ride it out and not ruin his friendship & chance at another job by keeping Smitty on staff. You think Jameis and KluelessKoetter are tight?? Not a chance. It will show soon.

  11. JabooBuc Says:

Why the hell would Dirk fire Smith at this point in the season? Seriously, think about it. Only way this defense get’s better at this point is continuity. They need time to play together in the same scheme and get healthy. Fire him now you basically are giving up on this season in which case Dirk is also gone.

Dirk knows if he fires Smith he’s out the door as well. If everyone could just grow a pair, calm down and give it the year. If they fail, then show them the door.

  12. ATLBuc Says:

If Fitz was able to regularly get 400 yards with this scheme and receivers James will have some 500 yard games. Mark my words, Jameis will break some records for 500 yard games!!!

  13. James Walker Says:

Now that Chucky is coaching again my source to why he was fired has been shown to be wrong, or some circumstances have changed in his life. It all started when an late night cleaning crewman from 1BucPlace needed a radiator for his car and the owner of the shop was a season ticket holder. I sat in a chair at the radiator shop and heard the janitors story of why Gruden REALLY lost his job.

  14. Holy Facepalm Says:

    Well, Mr. Walker, spill it!
