Suspension Really Screwed Up Jameis

October 28th, 2018

Lost his summertime magic.

Joe didn’t miss one training camp practice that wasn’t a walk-through this past summer.

And Joe had never seen America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, throw the football as he had in training camp. Or in preseason.

Accurate. Pinpoint. Line drives. Air under the ball when needed.

Jameis was accurate as hell airing it out. Yeah, even to DeSean Jackson.

And then Jameis disappeared for three weeks thanks to the edict of NFL strongman Roger Goodell.

Jameis hasn’t been nearly the same since.

Joe knows of football people (as in people who make their living in the upper levels of football) who are not fans in any way of quarterback coach George Whitfield, who preps quarterbacks for the NFL draft.

And yeah, Whitfield is Jameis’ personal quarterback coach. And yeah, when Jameis was serving his three-week sentence, he worked out regularly with Whitfield as his tutor until he was eligible to come back to the Bucs.

Feel free to do the math here. One thing is certain with no need of adding anything up, whatever magic Jameis had in training camp and preseason was lost in the three weeks Jameis just not so coincidently was working with Whitfield.

That three-week sentence very well could wind up costing Jameis tens of millions of dollars more than that suspension did.

  1. Season Is Over Says:

You mean Winston lost the first half again? Lol. It writes itself. We used to call them slow starts. Now we know.

  2. Pete I Says:

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…

  3. NJBucsFan Says:

    More spin

First blame Koetter now blame the suspension

  4. Buc4life7878 Says:

Silver lining in this game. Possibly the last time 3 will see the field as a Buc.

  5. LakeLand Says:

Why bench the NFL 2nd rated QB for a guy coming off a 3 game suspension?

That makes a lot of sense
Only the Bucs would make a DUMB move like this

  6. D-Rome Says:

    Who hired the QB coach?

If it was Dirk, who hired him?

Bucs failures are mostly on Jason Licht. Worse record than Dominick.

  7. Bird Says:

Here is another excuse by the joes.

    Koetter’s fault.

Now his qb coach who he worked out with during suspension.
This keeps getting better. Zero street cred. Who cares what someone does in preseason. You guys are blind. Stop with the salad tossing.

You guys look horrible right now.

  8. Buc believer Says:

Well he shouldn’t have molested a girl and he would have been fine.

  9. Jigstick Says:

When will you make Winston accountable?

  10. passthebuc Says:

If JW were any sort of man, he would tell you to stop with the excuses for him.

  11. thunderchunkyPA Says:

So Jamies does something dumb off the field…like he’s done before and cost himself 3 games. SO what about all the other bad decisions and throws ON the field the past 3 plus seasons? I am RG3-ing his ass, not getting hurt and paying him 20 plus mil in 2019. The team plays for Fitz and they believe in him, more then I can say for #3

  12. Dewey Selmon Says:

Stop it Joe. Fitz hasn’t played in weeks.

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

Please..PLEASE..with the EXCUSES. Order the guy some crab legs and a..gentlemans club dancer. He will perk right up. Here’s how this club will go…Fitz will once again start. He will provide some magic..for a game ot two. Then, the real Fitz will take over or turnover shall I say. Enter Jameis to the rescue with his fair flash mediorce play. And there you have it fans,,BUC LIFE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Bankieb Says:

Time to defend Jameis…. move on folks

  15. Grt1 Says:

Jameis had every opportunity now it’s over. Let’s move forward.

  16. WalkdaPlank Says:

I think Joe had one too many beers after his buddy Jameis got BENCHED. Not making any sense out here Joe.

    The guy is awful. Period.

  17. Noles Says:

Oh Lord… REALLY… JW not Goodell brought that on himself… come on Joe. I appreciate that you are a BUCS fan but please stop w this Jameis support you don’t have a leg to stand on

  18. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

The blame is on jameis for not having the lyft app or grabbing the uber driver the blame isnt on the suspension….bottom line if you cannot complete consistent passes for your entire carreer a few games off isnt gonna change that, winston is who he is a 20-25 int guy per year

  19. lambchop Says:

This is absolutely sick. Denial is a biyotch. He’s a 4th year Pro, not a rookie backup who never won a damn thing. He just can’t secure the ball and be accountable and consistent. It’s not his fault, he just can’t play any better than this. Blame the 2015 horrendous draft that even made him a #1 pick.

The guy has thin skin and can’t handle the heat. He has probably lost his confidence and he’s better off with a change of scenery where he can be a middling QB that only racks up yards and personal milestones.

Still in regression after that 2014 ALL-STAR FSU ROSTER

    #Repost (April 8th, 2015 at 5:47 pm) ←

    Per: BSPN

    QBR decline

Winston’s Total QBR in 2014 (74.5) was nearly 15 points worse than it was in 2013 (89.4), when he led FBS quarterbacks in that metric.

As the projected No. 1 pick, Winston will be the seventh quarterback since 2008 to be drafted in the first three rounds whose college QBR regressed from his first season as a starter to his last. The other six quarterbacks have not had success in the NFL, to put it lightly!!!! <—BOOM

Nine quarterbacks drafted in the first three rounds since 2008 improved in QBR while logging at least one elite season (defined as having a QBR of 80 or more). They have a .543 career winning percentage in the NFL and a combined 25 playoff starts. Those nine quarterbacks include Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick.

  21. Not there yet Says:

It was his own doing and if 3 weeks away from practice screwed him up that much he was never the guy anyway. It’s like the Aguayo affect, even if a throw is accurate you just feel like his next pass will be picked.

  22. Nprbuc Says:

No more excuses Joe. He does not have what it takes to be anymore than a below average to average QB. Four years worth of repeating the same mistakes over and over. Most kids learn after one time that if you put your hand on a hot stove you will get burned. Not him! Constantly making poor decisions on and off the field. Stop with the excuses! He deserves none. He has earned his ridicule.

  23. Coburn Says:

Preseason is just that. The Joe’s have been quick to put the breaks on hyping a player based on preseason before so why not James? Many of us never wanted us to draft him both because of character but also his turnovers. . Really hoped we’d be wrong but he is exactly who we always though he was.. a turnover machine. Guy just isn’t that good

  24. SenileSenior Says:

I am so proud of Koetter for yanking Winston! The timing was right.

The wind was irrelevant. Four interceptions is totally unacceptable. Maybe this will be the “kick in the butt” that rattles his brain a bit. Maybe this will wake him up finally. Its gut check time! His career is at stake.

I have been comparing Jameis to Brett Favre since some time in his rookie year. Both were/are gunslinger type QBs. Both had some off field issues early in their careers. Favre had some alcohol related problems that he had to leave behind. Winston has had judgment/maturity issues coming into the league. (The stupidity that got him suspended for the first three games of this season was at least partially alcohol related. I don’t know if he has deeper issues regarding women in general. I certainly hope not for him and for his family’s sake.)

If you check Favre’s stats you will see that he had 24 TDs and 19 Ints in his third season. He had 33 TDs and just 14 Ints and played all 16 games of his fourth season. He never stopped throwing interceptions completely, but he got them under control to some degree.

It is till not too late for Jameis. But, he had better pull himself together SOONER than later, or he will end up with a so so career in spite of all his smarts and his God given talent.

I am proud of the Bucs as a team, coaches and players.
    ____________
    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I was never a Packers fan but I love to watch good players on just about any team.

  25. Ed Says:

Wow. I can’t believe I’m reading this. Jameis can’t see the field and panics, no poise. Joe’s not seeing his shortcomings and is having a hard time dealing with the failures of a young QB who hasn’t caught up with the speed of the game.

Fitz and Griffin for the foreseeable future until a young QB developed.

Never did I want him to fail but his play loses too many games

  26. BucBOi Says:

Hey you know who else looked great in training camp. Nathan Peterman. And he’s just as good as jameis. Joes a jackass

  27. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Excuses are over for JW. Fitz comes in cold and puts up 18 pts with great passing and accuracy. JW practices with the 1s and has a bout with color blindness. At least JW had good yards and 3 TD passes on the day, too bad one was for the Bengals!! Fits all the way and with this improved D we might, might make a playoff push.

  28. D-Rome Says:

Jay-Miss is not the best QB in Bucs history no matter what the numbers say.

  29. Spicoli Says:

I think we have to shop Winston around next off-season

  30. Sweeptheleg Says:

If you’re an FSU fan you should be banned. All of you stupid morons. With your blinders on for 4 years of this bullsh#t.

Screw all of you. I can’t believe we had to argue with you idiots with things everyone knew except you nuthuggers.

Rod munch? Oh you gonna hide when your boy falls on his face?
    Ndog? Don’t start backpedaling now.

All of you with your bias finally have to eat crow. Shut up no one wants to hear your excuses and bullsh#t anymore.

    Get to steppin. Kick rocks.

  31. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Yeah Joe, Jay Miss was great…….when it didn’t matter. Blaming his issues on his suspension is ludicrous. Any rust he had should be gone by now. The guy is just not ever going to be accurate. He had one really good year at FSU. However, once coaches saw him the year after they won it all, he wasn’t really that sharp the next year.

  34. DBS Says:

    Excuse number 1001.

  35. Gen. Bucaroo Says:

Get what you can for him before Tuesday… Go with fitz and RGlll

*Lol At least Jimbo has a knack for getting QB’s drafted

But that QB Bust Rate tho.

  38. Bucsfan1988 Says:

This is such a moronic title for this article…

Bottom line: JAMEIS SCREWED UP JAMEIS.

Quit trying to blame outside factors
Jameis is hot garbage when it comes to limiting turnovers.
Point blank, JAMEIS lost this game for us.

I understand that GM and ownership had a lot invested in him and they had to insert him back as a starter to see what they had and see if he is worth the 5th year option.

Well there’s GREAT NEWS. You have your answer now!!!

They need to announce to all teams that Jameis is on the trading block. Get the MOST you can for him and move on. We know darn sure that D-Jax will be happy.

Fitz starts rest of the year, with Griffin as backup.
Fitz suite as heck deserves starting role back. If it wasn’t for this stupid predicament to figure out Jameis, he never should have never been benched in the first place.

And hell yeah, if we could trade Jameis to Gruden & Raiders and snag Carr, I’d be totally stoked!!!

  39. Season Is Over Says:

Winstopologists are grasping at straws. He does have better stats than Manning and Marino at this point in their careers.

  40. Hodad Says:

Joe apparently you’re the only one who believes the nonsense you’re writing. Jameis is what he’s always been even before the suspension. Inaccurate, a turn over waiting to happen, and a poor decision maker. Enough of the excuses.

  41. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Hey Senile, JW should not have been in after INT#3…then maybe we are playing for he lead at the end instead of for a tie…the D balled all the way until the last 59 seconds. Dirk should have pulled him right after INT #3, PERIOD!

  42. Gofortheface30 Says:

Ohhhhh stfu, you’re embarrassing yourself. How pathetic. It’s Koetter a fault, it’s George Whitefield. It’s the suspension, which ironically is Jameis’s own fault. My god, what is going on here

  43. stpetebucsfan Says:

“That three-week sentence very well could wind up costing Jameis tens of millions of dollars more than that suspension did.”

Or….put another way…pulling numerous BONE HEADED stunts at FSU…being accused of stuff which all almost added up to Fameis not being the #1 pick and then in his FIRST off season after all that…just a year later… he decides to betray ALL the people who gave him that second chance by hanging out at three AM…BLIND DRUNK by his assertions…with Ronald the trouble magnet Darby and a freaking convicted rapist the very crime Jameis was accused of just a year earlier.

You dance with the devil and you’re going to get burnt. And trust me the rest of the league is not JUST looking at his turnovers!

  44. Destinjohnny Says:

I actually feel really sorry for 3 man
    But i do wanna win
    Tua in 20

  45. SilverBuc Says:

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the greatest QB to ever grace the Bucs roster, trade Jameis to the Patriots for a 7th round pick, preferably a WR or crappie RB

  46. Joseph Mamma Says:

Unless Whitfield was the mysterious “unidentified man” that was supposedly in the front seat of the Uber, I’m not sure how you can blame him.

  47. Frank Pillow Says:

Joe, there’s all the physical-mechanical stuff that, yes, he continues to be challenged by- but his continued “target locking” on WRs and inability to process what the D is giving him is very concerning/disappointing. Jaboo has played a lot of NFL football and he can’t seem to slow the game down and understand that steady and reliable is sometimes all that’s needed.

  48. Geno Says:

More garbage from Joe. Wasn’t he just creaming about how good he was last week against Cleveland. What did George Whitfield come in during this week and screw him up.

Its because Jason Licht did not get him enough weapons.
If its not the weapons, its the defense.
If its not the defense, its the running game.
If its not the running game, its the offensive line.
If its not the offensive line, its the play calls.
If its not the play calls because Fitz had the same ones, its George Whitfield.

Joes very worst day of articles after a game ever.
At least you will be going down with Jameis at the same time. You keep up this performance and your gigs on WDAE for analysis will go to zero.

  49. Dooshlarue Says:

  50. Joe Blahak Says:

    It’s pretty simple…Winstunned is no good….Turn the page…

  51. Philly Bucs Fan Says:

GMAFB what was his excuse last year, and the year before that? There is one constant. His poor play. He is the worst of Vinny T and Trent Dilfer wrapped in one!

  52. GottaLaff Says:

    “trey wingo
    @wingoz
Jameis Winston has played 48 games in his NFL career. He’s thrown 50 interceptions and fumbled 21 times. 48 games… 71 turnovers. He is what he is and if you expect it to change at this point.. that’s on you”

  53. Joe Blahak Says:

    It’s pretty simple…Wiinstunned is no good…Turn the page…

  54. Brian Says:

Uhhh nope… He just isn’t very good. Damned sure not showing to be the “franchise” guy we all thought and hoped for. He’s done here. Reset…again

Self inflicted wounds are often the hardest to understand…

  56. bigdaddio Says:

JoeBucs is like the Red Witch from Game of Thrones. He can look into the dumpster fire that is JW’s career and see great things from him.

  57. TBone47 Says:

Don’t worry guys I remember ol 87 saying we’ll be in the super bowl in 3 years if we draft Winston ….. yep still waiting for greatness

  58. rfdes Says:

Another BS statement… The suspension is not the reason. He’s handed the ball to the enemy something on the order of 80 times over his 49 games. Explain what is different now relative to his earlier 48 games. He’s done.. The party is over…

  59. Mike Says:

Seriously Joe, listened to you for years, GIVE IT UP. .he was terrible and no one wants to see him. Hippie he does well with another team, NOT HERE! Get over it, you are not convincing anyone.

  60. Dave Anglin Says:

Done making excuses for JW, I was on his side from go. But I’m done. When a guy steps in that was chilling on the bench comes in and is throwing in the same wind that the starter was and brings the team back? You tell me, he’s done.

  61. bigdaddio Says:

If Gruden’s ego is so big he thinks he can fix JW, trade him to the Raiders for Carr. Ride Fitz this year, draft a QB and let Carr, Griffth and rookie QB duke it out in open competition next year.

  62. Chris Adams Says:

Half mechanics, half mental, if he hasn’t gotten it together yet, ain’t going to happen. Time to move on in the draft.

  63. 911bucs Says:

Fitz was off 2-1/2 weeks and came in and lit it up

  64. BuccaneEric75 Says:

It’s so sad. Winston looked like he did as a rookie today. He hasn’t improved his accuracy or decision making since his first season. I’m so pissed right now that I have to admit the Winston era was doomed from the start, never had a chance. He was never the guy but I couldn’t see it. I do now. Dilfer 2.0 😢

  65. lambchop Says:

Joe’s next article is about how Jameis rolled out of the wrong side of the bed which led to a horrible game.

    Give it up.

Jameis Winston is Josh Freeman 2.0

  66. Marlow Says:

Jamis screwed up Jamis! Officially remove the America’s QB tag line! It’s beneath you now.

  70. Topcoach1978 Says:

Joe you oughtta be a damn shamed of yourself for this bafoonery you’re trying to pull!!!!

  71. bigdaddio Says:

The guy who said Jameis is Freeman Part II has it right.

  72. Noles Says:

Come on sweeptheleg…. I have always been candid about JW & think his time is done. Not all Noles are blind, I am a BUCS fan too. Speaking of being a NOLES alumn my god those boys are hard to watch… only took Taggert 4 home games to hang the worst lost in school history…. Let’s not forget all the crappy Gators the Bucs have drafted ie… Jaquez Green. Reidel Anthony, the Ultimate turnstyle Tcakle Kenyatta Walker, Vernon Heargraves… etc.. do I really need to continue… FSU has given the Bucs much better players over the years…. Brad Johnson, Dertick Brooks, Sb MVP Dexter Jackson, Warrick Dunn etc… so spare me the HOMER stuff for all NOLES bc that’s not accurate… JW should ride the pine so he doesn’t get hurt then cut him so you don’t have to pay him the $20 mil the Glazers extended him next year its only guaranteed upon injury…

  73. Defense Rules Says:

‘Suspension Really Screwed Up Jameis”. Just another BS excuse Joe. Face reality … there’s a Good Jameis, but there’s also a Bad Jameis. Today we saw the REALLY BAD JAMEIS. Same mistakes, over & over & over again. Throwing high? Check. Staring down your primary receiver? Check. Holding the ball too long? Check. The list goes on and on. Stop with the excuses … time to move on. Bucs cannot afford to invest $30-$35 mil a year in this guy. See if we can get some value for him before the lights go out, and move on.

  74. Simeon Says:

Jameis’ indiscretions May have screwed him up, only person to blame is himself. Not the “suspension”.

  75. Tom Edrington Says:

But Jameis is an elite talent — just ask Joe(s)…

  76. JabooBuc Says:

easy fix, keep his hands to himself and no problems.

  79. J Says:

  80. Trench War Says:

What I find really ironic is that ever since JoeBucsFan entered into this here corner of the web we haven’t seen the post season. Just think had we taken Johnny Manziel like the Joe’s endorsed emphatically we would have then missed out on their emphatically endorsed (Joe’s words) “America’s QB”.

Joe knows QB’s and when he tells you it’s not his venerable America’s QB’s fault but the entire organization, and some of Winston’s old coaches we should listen, and agree with all these ridiculous excuses instead of admitting there is a problem with Jameis’s game. After all, ginger Joe knows QB’s.

  81. Fitz Says:

    D.Lock for Qb 2019

  82. Jean Lafitte Says:

I thought about saying something negative about JW but my black @ss would probably be called a racist.

  83. Sweeptheleg Says:

    @noles

Yea well drafting the so called franchise QB number one overall. Trumps any failures from UF or anywhere else.

This one is the ultimate fail.

  84. Sweeptheleg Says:

    My post not showing up?

Am I banned for calling out FSU homers? But none of them are banned for calling people racists for questioning the so called franchise QB

  85. Sweeptheleg Says:

Well my other post didn’t show up. Oh well. I think the point has been made anyway.

  86. IsrBuc Says:

Where’s the “probowler” after America’s qb??

  87. IsrBuc Says:

Preseason counts now? Playing 2nd and 3rd string? Dk should be fired for one thing- benching 2 times player of the week fitzmagic to make this season from a playoff hunt to an audition.

  88. Dreambig Says:

Stick a fork in Winston, he should be done here in Tampa. Doesn’t matter if he goes somewhere else and becomes a hall of famer becuase he clearly isn’t going to do it here. In fact getting him a new place to play, might be the best thing for him.

  89. Dre Says:

Joe you are an idiot …. anyone who believes the spew out of your mouth…. stop defending this wanna bro quarterback

  90. Noles Says:

    jean Lafitte – that’s Funny…

  91. Noles Says:

Silver Buc – i’d take Brad Johnson over Fitzpatrick anyday. If we had only had him when he was a little younger, like when he was throwing to Hassan Jones & Chris Carter w Vikings.

  92. T REX Says:

Jameis screwed up Jameis. No one else Joe.

It’s time to pay the piper.

Admit it. Dude is a dud.

  93. firethecannons Says:

Honestly I will never be able to watch this kid play without expecting every pass to get pikked. It is as if I have PTSD from being a Bucs fan. Too many excuses that amount to nothing–the kid is a turnover machine, I am a FSU alumni that got in on the Bucs fan base thanks to Winston but enough –4 piks in 1 day–would of been more if he played the whole game. I like the Bucs team more than Winston–he needs to be permanently replaced. Hope the Glazers do not give this kid a contract–he is losing games for us. Ready for a new QB in the draft, Fitz can mentor.

  94. Noles Says:

I get it sweeptheleg – & Agreed you cannot miss the #1 pick but would you have preferred Mariota. They both look bad so it would it have mattered? Should have passed on both of these clowns it looks like but hindsight is 20/20 of course…

  95. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Sign Fitz for next season and draft all defense in 2019. If Fitz leads us to the playoffs next season, great. If he turns into fitztragic like he’s prone to, then we’ll be in a spot for a top QB in 2020. Either way, the Winston era is over. I had high hopes that he would be the guy for the next 15 years, but sadly I was wrong. Bench him for the season so we’re not on the hook for the injury guarantee and release him the first day you’re able to. No team is going to trade anything other than a 7th round pick for Winston. Don’t even bother trying.

  96. Noles Says:

I like your plan Buccaneer Eric

  97. LakeLand Says:

    BuccaneEric75

I had a lot of folks on here abusing me back in 2015 for my comments on the Bucs and Jameis after they fired Lovie.

  98. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I don’t blame the Joes for driving the Winston bandwagon. They’re fans like us and they’ve been through the bad QB play that is our entire existence just as long as we have. They wanted Winston to be the guy just like I did. I, like the Joes, also overlooked his deficiencies for too long, expecting him to improve because he came into the league so young. We were wrong, but you know what?, Our next rookie QB is going to be the future and I’ll be, and I’m sure the Joes as well, will be riding his bandwagon until he proves us wrong. This is the life of Bucs fans, waiting for that guy to take us where we all want to go. It might not be Jameis, but it might be the next guy! Go Joes and go Bucs!

  99. NPRSageBoy Says:

Simple question: Whose actions lead to the suspension? Roger Godell? I think not unless he was the unnamed third party in the Uber that fateful evening.
No, it was Jay Miss, America’s Turnover Machine.
No one to blame here but Jay Miss.
Please don’t shed a tear for a coddled athlete who should have been arrested for most of his FSU indiscretions.
No one to blame but Jay Miss and hopefully Bucs/Glazer family finally learned their lesson about #1 draft picks because Bo Jackson taught them nothing.

  100. BuccaneEric75 Says:

LakeLand, I’m sure you have no joy in being right, just like I have no joy in being wrong. Winston always teases us with great throws, only to make throws that Tebow wouldn’t even try. The point in the game that I was done with Winston wasn’t the pick6, it was the INT intended for a wide open Brate that he missed by a mile. Starting QBs make mistakes, but they don’t do what Winston did on that play. That should have been the easiest throw of the game. So sad. I feel bad for Winston because he’s worked his whole life to get to where he is now and he just doesn’t have what it takes to be a great QB. I hope he finds his game in the future, just not against us!

The list of excuses grows for Winston just a joke

NPRsage, how come no one on here seems to know the name of the third Uber driver? I thought it would be emblazoned on all of our brains by now!

  103. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I meant to say Uber passenger

  104. BrianBucs Says:

Say what you want about Winston, but this is all on Jason Licht for drafting Winston in the first place and trying to make him the Bucs face of the franchise despite knowing he was a huge risk on and off the field.
Licht, Koetter and Winston all need to go

  105. Bobby M. Says:

Must have been the FSU suspension….because he’s been a turnover machine since college.

  106. Firrrreee Licht Says:

This article is spot on. I was thinking the same thing during this game. I also wondered why they put him in against the Bears. He should’ve come into a clean game with a chance to win instead of an absolute mess. I’m glad the Bucs lost today. Yep, I’m happy they lost so I don’t have to read all of the Fitz blowhards gloat. Part of me thinks Jameis could be throwing picks on purpose to get Licht and Koetter fired. That’s a winning attitude.

  107. ElioT Says:

    Jameis was suspended…

    THANKS to JAMEIS F**KING WINSTON!!!!!

Blame Roger Goodell all you want but #3 (The “Franchise”) was in that uber, put himself in that position with the checkered past he has (valid or not), and exposed himself, himself, his team mates, his organization and the entire Han base.

JBF is borderline supportive of his actions and it’s disturbing.

  108. Dapostman Says:

Right now Jameis Winston is the Nuke Laloosh of the NFL. Million dollar arm, ten cent head. There better be a Crash Davis coming through the door or I’m afraid JW will be in the minors for ever…………………QB position is nothing more than being a point guard. You dish to open guys and they score. Once in a while you run and score. Until JW figures out that he’s John Stockton and not Karl Malone he is going to struggle. Simple as that. You should never make a bad decision on 1st down because you have two other downs in your back pocket. The only way he is going to learn is if he starts and makes a bad decision you yank him then. Don’t wait until he’s made 4 bad decisions. That’s how you break this wild colt.

    Think that’s fair.

And five, six years from now when it clicks, look out. Of course, he will be out of Tampa by then. And the Bucs will still be looking for its first playoff win since the Super Bowl… and a quarterback. 🙁 It’s so predictable.

  110. Brad Says:

I wonder who he’ll be pitching for next?

  111. Ugandan Knuckles Says:

Yes. Blame it on the suspension.

I would agree. The conundrum is that there are players and coaches who want to win now. They don’t want to wait 5 years when it finally clicks in. I would start Winston and when he makes a bad decision turnover not necessarily a bad throw I’d yank him from the game. That’s the only way he’s going to learn that the football is gold. Physical errors are forgivable mental errors are not.

  113. DBS Says:

Put him in. Pull him out. Put him in. Pull him out. What for 5 more years? Why noy just use the “But he is only” excuse?

  114. DBS Says:

    ^not
