Motivated Or Pressured?

October 21st, 2018

Exterior fuel.

Joe guesses it is safe to say that Bucs coach Dirk Koetter hears his critics.

After the overtime win over the Browns today, a game where both teams played so sloppy and were prone to turnovers that both deserved a tie, Koetter was asked if the victory was a must-win and Koetter admitted he was motivated (or pressured?) a little more so today.

“Oh, you guys made that perfectly clear,” Koetter said to the assembled pen and mic club. “I mean, I look at it as they are all must-wins. Me personally, every week is must. You guys did a good job of making us aware that we had to win.”

Well, if that’s what it takes, to write a couple of posts to get Koetter motivated, then so be it.

Joe prefers to hope checks from Team Glazer would motivate the Bucs more than a couple of posts on this here website.

Extraordinary answer for the tabloid, sorry sports media…..

  2. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Next biggest issue we need to fix is the offensive line’s run blocking!

  3. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Oh yes and the offensive line knowing who to block on exotic blitzes!

  4. Gobucs Says:

This guy doesn’t have what it takes to make this team perennial contenders.

Pack your bags Dirk. You’re on borrowed time. You don’t even call plays anymore. What do you bring to the table?

    NOTHING. Get lost already.

  5. LakeLand Says:

The Browns only made one turnover, and it was costly
    The made 4 turnovers
The Bucs turnovers keep teams in the game

  6. John Says:

    LMAO

  7. LakeLand Says:

    **The Bucs made 4 turnovers

  8. John Says:

    LMAO…joke for a coach

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    We missed an extra point…..
We missed a game winning easy FG in regulation
We turned it over 4 times
    We gave up a safety
We simply couldn’t run the ball
    We dropped several passes

    We won.

If Dirk here is his critics then how come he still screws up game clock management………. That last field goal should never have been kicked with such little time left on the clock.

Any coach that understandsclock management knows that you save just enough time in case there is a bobbled snap. It didn’t hurt us but it was a screw up none the less.

Coaches who understand the rules also don’t throw a red flag. Not the biggest error in the world but just one that makes him look Clueless. call me crazy but I just don’t feel comfortable having a coach who doesn’t understand the rules……….. Like for real bro Higher One of these posters this site to help you out I’m sure they won’t charge much.

  11. JimmyJack Says:

    Last FG of regulation***

  12. Alanbucsfan Says:

Koetter- instead of mentioning media making you aware of must wins, why don’t you “must” get rid of your terrible running game coaches who are wasting OLine talent and running back talent. 3 straight years – they stink, and they suck at pass protection too-
The problem with this team has been and continues to be coaching

  13. Season Is Over Says:

Well, 2-4 and out by Halloween for the second year in a row sort of made it a must-win. It isn’t a Buccaneer win without Dirk “We were done before Halloween” Koetter snapping at the media. It is so predictable. He wins he yells at some reporter. If he loses he has the 1000 yard stare like none of it was his fault. The whole team is frustrated because all the excuses have been used up. Honeymoon is over.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Lakeland……the Bucs defense created no turnovers again…….5th straight game? And yes the play by David was amazing but I don’t count turnover on downs.

  15. JimmyJack Says:

Season……well we won’t be done by Halloween this year at least.

  16. theodore Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

    We played the Browns 🙂

  17. i like gunslingers Says:

what have we learned since the terrific start of the 2018 season, first two games we caught he opponents sleeping, secondly philly’s not who we thought they were, we are not as good as we thought, jameis and djax will never be on point, jameis is going to get his receivers hurt by constantly delivering the ball where they have to stop, reach back, go high, go low, they are taking a pounding, i also see frustration from djax, evans, godwin, and the tight ends because of the ball placement, mike smiths defensive play call was a joke, his firing came a year to late, defense is still a work in progress, our QB is making horrible decisions and his inconsistancy is the only thing consistant about his play. our offense is stacked and should put up the numbers, but are struggling, this easily could have been a loss, if not for the hundred and so yards penalized by cleveland,

  18. Defense Rules Says:

Tampabaybucfan … AWESOME RECAP!!! And “We won” truly is the bottom line.

  19. Buc believer Says:

Barely beat the Browns on a lucky yes I said lucky field goal. Koetter needs to use the same moving company as Smith is… also take Licht with you. Maybe they will get a discount if all three use the same company.

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

It was a W yes, but the Glazers can’t be happy. The Bucs did everything they could to give this game away

  21. buc15 Says:

tampabay you hit the nail on the head. We pulled out a grimey win even though we had so many mistakes. Not every game is going to be pretty in the NFL

  22. Loyaltotheend Says:

Koetter coaches scared like he doesn’t realize the strength of this team is the pass game not the d or kicking game

  23. Simeon Says:

This guy isn’t long for the job, we all know it.

  24. Stevbobucsfan Says:

You know maybe the bucs need to do more of this down the road meaning fire a coach if his unit is not proforming. Sit a player on the bench or cutting him if he’s not getting the job done this seem to work well for winning teams. See New England they had issues with the o line when they lost to Denver in the super bowl They fired the o line coach the next year they won the super bowl. Not wanting to fire coaches is what got Dungy fired and almost cost Koetter his job in which the jury is still out on

  25. TiredBucFan Says:

I can’t believe Jason Licht seriously went into this season thinking Peyton Barber and Ro Jo would be an adequate running game and the fact that he has stayed with it is a fireable offense. Good riddance Jason and Dirk I hope you both enjoyed your time here in tampa. No worries your final 10 weeks will be over before you know it Which is a bit unfair because for fans it’s been over since around 2008.

  26. Joe Says:

Any coach that understandsclock management knows that you save just enough time in case there is a bobbled snap.

Joe calls baloney on this. Joe has heard this since he started watching the NFL as a kid in the 1970s. Cannot begin to imagine how many hours of football Joe has watched. High school. College. Pro including USFL. Have never, ever seen a team falll on a bobbled snap and call timeout. Ever.

The bad clock management was Koetter not running four or five plays instead of running clock down at end of regulation.

  27. JabooBuc Says:

Tampabaybuxsfan: truly put it into perspective. We tried like hell to lose this game and they still pulled it out. If I take anything from this it’s that maybe they realize they can do a lot if they stop the stupidity. That game could have been over at half time. Thankfully it’s the the Browns but then, we are the Bucs.

  28. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

Some of those offensive play calls were terrible today. It made me wonder who was actually calling them, Monken or koetter…

  29. JabooBuc Says:

Crazy thing is that the Bucs are very close to being 5-1 with 2 wins in division. I know almost every NFL team can say that but we are 3-3 and have been in every game but 1.

  30. lewis Says:

Wow worst coaching ive seen yet

  31. lewis Says:

I cant believe there is no running game Dirt is riding with Barber like he did with Martin and this man learns nothing from his mistakes

  32. orlbucfan Says:

Koetter needs to get creative with the offensive game plan. He’s got the players and they are maturing. I liked the diva reverse. Our offense can pull off those ‘gadget’ plays. Can we see more of them? The offense had a bad day. The Browns have a defense which can ball. They are NOT cupcakes anymore. 3-3…..I’ll take it!

  33. 813bucboi Says:

    Lakeland

last week you were pretty confident that the players were to blame and not smitty…..well, the defense played well enough to win without smitty…..

now you’ve turned your attention to the offense, even tho we won……we still look like a 2win team but hey, a win is a win is a win…..even good teams win ugly……its about finding way a to come out with a “W”…..

are you pissed that the defense played well and you cant come on here and say, I told you so?……

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  34. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

I honestly don’t remember a time where we won a football game and it felt more like a loss, the next day.
