Martín Gramática Talks Chandler Catanzaro

October 30th, 2018

So what’s wrong with Bucs kicker Chandler Catanzaro, a man who has missed four extra points this season?

Former stud Bucs kicker Martín Gramática answered that question today.

First, a little perspective, Gramática made 41 out of his first 46 field goals in the NFL from distances between 30 and 39 yards. Extra points currently are a 32 or 33 yard kick. Catanzaro is 19-of-23 on those attempts.

Gramática said, via 620wdae.com, that Catanzaro is clearly struggling with his opening kick in games and that has to change.

It could be a bad warm-up issue, Gramática said, explaining the rule that moved back extra points a few years ago took away the luxury of an easy early extra point attempt to correct poor pregame warm-up and build confidence.

Yes, confidence is the issue, he said, but bringing in competition for Catanzaro should not phase him.

Gramática explained that struggling kickers all know their job’s on the line with a potential next miss and the internal pressure they put on themselves already is greater than a team holding kicker tryouts.

Remember that Catanzaro is 10-of-12 on field goal attempts this season, Gramática said, so there’s plenty of good there and reason to believe.

Trade deadline came and went, I kinda thought Jason might make a move, idk, Ha Ha Clinton Dix could have been had. We must be done for the season or good enough.

  4. Firrrreee Licht Says:

Gramática knows best. He was great and then went into a tail spin when he lost confidence. Thanks for sharing Joe.

  9. Buc believer Says:

The Bucs are what happens when trust fund kids take over.

  10. Wesley Says:

Man oh man Licht is a dumb s.o.b.cut this bum already!!!!

  11. LakeLand Says:

The Redskins stole Ha Ha Clinton Dix from the Packers for a 4th round draft pick

  12. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs has more problems than the Kicker

  13. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

No doubt, LakeLand, we definitely could have used Ha Ha Clinton Dix. Total ballhawk. For a team (us) that has 1 interception, correct? — Man oh man, we could have used some help on D.

  14. Brad Says:

We better be trying to sign Jamon Brown. Good enough to start for the Rams all 16 last year at RG. Has to be better than what we’ve seen

  15. Dom is gone.. Licht ? Dirk ? Says:

I believe no moves today means Licht is safe. Dirk will be gone Licht will pick the new coach for Jamies… we will suck for 4 more years!

  16. StPeteBucsfan Says:

    Martin ! Loved tbat guy.

So Adam Vinireri became the kicking GOAT this past Sunday at Indy.

SERIOUSLY…how many W’s could we have eaten if AV had been our kicker the past decade? Seriojsly fivure it out.

  17. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

    @ BucfaninMi Amen, brother……or sister.

  18. donuts Says:

I have no idea why some of you think this is DJAX fault. Thats fantasy land. #1 he is not a cancer more like a truth talker. Who else on this team was stating Winston needed to be benched? Not even spineless Koetter. Evans would dance around it postgame. Brate well he is loyal like Koetter to a fault. Only a blind man or FSU squirrel would think the QB change was not needed.

If the Bucs make a run, you will be calling DJAX a leader that created change to winning football. The only thing that could keep this team from making a run is the DEF.

All I care about is the Ws…..I dont care who throws it or catches it.

  19. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

And we just cut Kevin Minter. We look absolutely clueless. Sad days for Tampa Bay.

  20. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

@donuts Don’t forget about #3 being detrimental right now to this team too.

  21. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Licht has been asleep at the wheel except that time he ran out of beer hit the wawa and found JPP

  22. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

Let’s hope, @AfrikaThaRapper, that maybe the Kevin Minter cutting means that Kendall Beckwith is getting close to finally coming back.

  23. buddy Says:

Why don’t you give credit to the person asking the question?? Jealous of the radio station?? LOLOL

  24. Afrika The Rapper Says:

I sincerely hope so @ Tampa Bay Demon.

  26. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Another “lucky # 7” ( for the opponent) coaching up the current dumpster fire? What about Michael “Como Está” Husted? Isn’t he an actual kicking coach?

  27. Jameis Almighty! Says:

The 4th round is Jason Lichts best round. Can’t be giving away any 4th rounders for anyone

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

Loved Martin until he lost his confidence.

Sooo did everyone notice that Adam Vinateri became the GOAT NFL kicker this past Sunday in Indy?

Now…and I’m being serious…how many more W’s would we have eaten if Vinateri had been our kicker for the past decade.

Some of you with those photographic memories can probably point out some critical games that we would have won if AV had been our kicker.

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo has been mostly silent because Pablo is embarrassed by Pablo’s Homeboy Aguayo’s failure…but Pablo had to post when Martin el Automatica was mentioned.
As for Hamus……Pablo thinks Haboo’s elongated arc has gotten him into trouble both on and off the field…….Hamus needs to take some saltpeter to soften that arc up just a bit”

  30. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

SPBF…I wonder if Vinateri would have slumped/stunk in Tampa. He kicks indoors half the year + after a Bulls game with the turf torn up…kicking to Tampa these days (post Bryant ) seems like a career ender. Barth was fine until he played some real good pick-up basketball…charity or not.

  31. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs would have cut Adam Vinateri in training camp

The Bucs gave John Randle a tryout after he went undrafted
They did it because his brother Erwin was LB on the team
The Bucs wanted John Randle to tryout for LB
He left Tampa and went to Minnesota

    And 137.5 sacks later
Randle is in the Hall of Fame
    And the Bucs still sucks

    The Bucs can’t evaluate talent
I have been laughing at this team for 42 years
    And the laughs keep coming

  32. OneBuc55 Says:

No Defense, No running game, No kicker, and a QB who has Josh Freeman Syndrome (shattered confidence) etc, etc…We’re a mess right now…you know it’s bad when a QB who there 27 picks himself the season before he signed with us is supposedly the savior…smh

    It’s a Bucs Life…

With the exception of the Superbowl season nothing has went right since we fired Tony Dungy, maybe we should bring him back and see if it breaks the curse

  33. Buccfan37 Says:

It’s not funny, it is expected for the Bucs to struggle.

  34. Noles Says:

Yes… well said first Culverhouse now the Glazers bopsy twins what a bunch of clowns. Stick to soccer you goobers you know nothing about football!! Please sell the team… my LORD or hire someone like Derrick Brooks & step away Far Far away from any football decisions. His 1st task make Koetter & Licht walk the plank. Previous poster who said Licht’s best round is the 4th round was HILARIOUS & True. Lol….

  35. BigMacAttack Says:

Catanzaro sux and so does Gram

  36. jjbucfan Says:

Catanzaro still being on this team is a crime against this community. At least we have Dirk, the QB whisperer, we are set. I’m done with all you morons, Dirk has divided this locker room, D Jax is just his lackey. Koetter should have stood up for Jameis, he deserved to be benched, but if he is this franchises future, he should have started him against all the naysayers. We would have learned a lot about how Jameis responds against his worst game of his career. Now what do we have? What happens if Fitzpatrick throws 3 Ints by HT? Half the locker room will quit while half will rally with Jameis. Of course coming up just short because Catanzaro will have missed another extra point.

  37. LakeLand Says:

    They have benched jameis
    There’s no looking back now
    If Fitz can’t cut it
They will have to go with Griff

  38. BringBucsBack Says:

    Brad

  39. Buccaneerscotty Says:

Let’s see what Griffin has and cit his ass also if he can’t getter done !

  40. Buccaneerscotty Says:

    Cut

  41. OneBuc55 Says:

Like it or not Lakeland Jameis isn’t done here just yet…

We picked up his 5th year option…And before we even think about bringing in a rookie QB we need to fix our defense, kicking situation, running game, offensive line, coaching staff, etc…Let’s not act like Jameis walked into the perfect situation here in Tampa and messed it up; this franchise was the definition of dysfunctional before he walked in the door…

If we let Jameis walk he’ll probably end up in New England sitting behind a soon to be retired Tom Brady…I guarantee Belichick can coach him up…and I promise you he’ll never be asked to throw 50+ times or asked to run a play-action pass when you can even run the football to begin with…Dirk is a joke.

Waiting to ruin Tavecchio’s career next after Matt Bryant comes back. Should bring back Aguayo so Gator fan just “ends it”, lol (that was a joke, but in all seriousness isn’t Peneiro (sp.) available. I will root for I’m like nobody’s business even as a Nole, because once they enter the NFL-THAT SH*T DOESN”T MATTER ANYMORE”

  45. FortMyersDave Says:

Who names their kid Ha Ha? No offense to the pessimists who think that every NFL team is genius but the Bucs (such as the Eternal Pessimist from Polk) but the Packers cut ties with that guy and Montgomery for a reason besides making their team worse. I love how some trolls are actually pointing out other teams screw ups and somehow tying them to the Bucs.

    ———————————–

All so true, LakeLand….. and do you realize that means that John Randle could have actually been here when Sapp, Brooks, Lynch & Barber got here. Can you even imagine the devastation of that defense?
