  1. QUE5 Says:

Bucs should relieve J. Licht, Koetter & Mike Smith of their duties, hire Louis Riddick as GM, promote Monken to HC and Duffner to D. Coordinator.

  2. BucThis Says:

You’re delusional. Monken? Duffner? No thanks

  3. Cgmaster Says:

Great podcast, you hit the nail on the head with this one sir

  4. Greg Says:

The podcast was exactly what I thought it would be. Spreading blame around and little goes to Jameis. First of all I agree 100% that Jameis is not our biggest problem or reason why we lost and will continue to lose. Our defense is disgusting! I agree Smith should have been fired on the bye week but if it didn’t happen then it wont happen this year unless it becomes an absolute catastrophe this season. Jameis does what he does. He gives up the ball when were in scoring range and racks up stats later trying to catch up. Both the Falcons and Bucs have horrible defenses and no running game. Matt Ryan threw 3 TDs and no pics, Winston threw 4 TDs and 2 pick. Yes our Defense could have helped with a turnover but Ryan does not force the ball into double coverage like Winston. Again not Blaming the loss just on Winston but Joe needs to do a better job being fair and critical on his boy.

  5. Jaywill Says:

Greg all you do is hate.

  6. Jaywill Says:

Greg all you do is hate. So who did you blame for Steelers loss?

  7. Season Is Over Says:

Why is a number one overall pick in the draft throwing blind passes at this point in his career? Both Jackson and Winston had no idea where that ball was going. The whole stadium got quiet out of disbelief. This is a major problem. How does this ever get fixed?

  8. BROCKTACULAR Says:

Yeah!! The Bucs fire Mike Smith! Woohoo!!

  9. Greg Says:

    Mike Smith fired!

  10. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

Smith is out. We may still be alive for the playoff hunt!

  11. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Ian Rappaport reports Bucs have fired Mike Smith !

  12. Greg Says:

A-men!!! Wish they did it during the bye week so new guy had a week but PRAISE FOOTBALL JESUS!!!

  13. denjoe Says:

A casualty has come as a result of Tampa Bay’s recent run of defensive ineptitude.

The Buccaneers have fired defensive coordinator Mike Smith, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported.

Around The NFL will have more on this story shortly.

  14. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

I’m sure Dufner has been preparing for this change. Hallellujah!!!!!
At 2-3 we are alive and well. This top ten offense won’t go to waste!!!!!!

  15. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

IS A GOOD DAY IN TAMPA BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Buc4life7878 Says:

    Joe wake up!!! He’s gone!!!

  17. GMC hater Says:

Was yesterday’s loss a blessing in disguise?

  18. King C Says:

Joe is azzleep on big stories as usual ?? Joe operates on Joe’s own schedule. It’s what makes this site so popular. –Joe
It’s obvious after Atlanta that the game has passed Mike Smith by
I don’t believe he ever even wanted to be in Tampa
Just like I’m not sure Dirk Koetter ever even wanted to be a head coach

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Ian Rapoport broke the news? He read it off the Bucs website.

  20. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

    BUCS JUST FIRED MIKE SMITH!!!!!!!

  21. DBS Says:

Who knows now. You put Duffner in and his 2 main LB’s look lost and can’t tackle. But It really can’t be any worse than it was

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    LOL. People never learn.

Anyone who thinks it will make bit of difference is living a fantasy.

Dufner will use Mike Smith’s playbook. They can’t change schemes mid season.

  23. K_Bassuka Says:

Bonzai. The playbook wasn’t the problem, the main problem was the lack of pressure placed on the QB. Smith was scared to bring the heat on the QB which led to the QBs doing what they pleased. The defense has played much better when they don’t play that prevent crap.

Agreed, It’s nice to see some accountability though.

  25. T in Orlando Says:

Take the plays in the existing playbook, and simplify the reads, particularly coverage reads. The common thread in the pass defense has been blown assignments due to communication errors, in other words players having different thoughts on what their responsibility is based on what they see in front of them.

Keep coverages simple for now, have one player responsible for the reads and communicating that to the rest of the coverage team (be it DBs or LBs and DBs), and let everyone else just play their role.

  26. Iron Wombat Says:

at least someone is being held accountable.

  27. King C Says:

Joe is azzzleep as usual with the big stories.
I wouldn’t be so sure that a coaching change won’t impact things.
After Atlanta it’s clear that Mike Smith has failed and I’m not sure he ever even wanted to be in Tampa.
Just like I’m not sure Koetter ever even wanted to be a head coach.

  28. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Joe didn’t you have an article prior to the bye week that Duffner should replace Mike Smith? I recall he was a past d coordinator somewhere is that true?

  29. mark2001 Says:

Smith fired. When both Coach and players are responsible, it is always the coach that gets the ax. I hope Duffner can light a fire under them.

  30. denjoe Says:

Licht needs to trade for a couple descent Corners if he wants to save his job.
Him and Dork are next hopefully.

  31. denjoe Says:

    decent

  32. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

How quickly we forget Raheem Morris taking over of the defense in 2009. Improvement was obvious on the defensive side of the ball. SMH

  33. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

Duffner DC for the Bengals in 2001 and 02.

  34. David A Gralla Says:

SMITTY FIRED! ABOUT TIME! DUFNER PROMOTED! RIGHT CHOICE, BUT MAY BE TO LATE

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

K_Bassuka, I can’t dispute what you said. I agree. But I do not believe Duffner will make a bit of difference.
