Hero!

October 21st, 2018

Today’s unsung hero. (Photo courtesy of Buccaneers.com.)

The Bucs had just finished their second do-nothing drive in overtime and punted.

The men in pewter and red were absolutely desperate for someone to make a play. And they got it immediately on the punt return.

The unexpected hero was third-string tight end Antony Auclair.

Auclair registered the strip of Browns returner Jabrill Peppers who already had taken the punt back 16 yards and past the Browns’ 40 yard line. The best part about it is Auclair had hit the ground on the initial coverage when bearing down on Peppers. But Auclair bounced up, played to the whistle and got the strip from behind.

Awesome! Joe wishes the Bucs’ offensive line played with that kind of urgency.

Video of the play is below.

The pride of Canada deserves a truckload of Molson tonight.

I wish this guy would stop with the false starts though. That’s two in two games.

  2. LakeLand Says:

It has to be a lonely flight back to Cleveland for Jabrill Peppers

  3. BringBucsBack Says:

Yes, a huge play! Never give up on a play (unless you are a turn-over prone QB). Play through the whistle-always!

I officially apologize for calling Auclair an eclair!

  5. Mike Johnson Says:

The Hero’s of this game was clearly the Field goal Kicker and our improved Defensive play.

The O line needs to watch some tape of ROJO from USC. He is capable of being a home run hitter if they open up some holes. They keep trying to run him to the outside like some Charles Simms replacement backup dancer. He does better between the tackles. Our run game has I ky sucker for this long this season because of caleb benonoch and smith. If we run right benonoch gets handled. If we run left smith gets handled. If market was next to Dotson we could run right. Oline needs work for our run game to be successful. GO BUCS.

We prayed for a miracle in 219 and got one, we tried so hard to give it away today!!!!

Our special teams play today was a mixed bag…..both terrible and good.

We were stuck on the 1, I think 3 times…..

We gave up a couple of big returns……missed an xtra point and an easy game winning FG….

But then…..we caused a fumble and hit a long game winner in OT.

  9. Rod Munch Says:

Speaking of special teams, Matt Bryant is out tomorrow at kicker for the Falcons, if that happened with the Bucs they’d cut him.

  10. BrianBucs Says:

It was probably the play of the game

Lots of Browns fans in the stands today at RayJay. Very vocal but that fumble and the 59yd FG sent them home with a rupture. lol

Dapostman- you forgot about the 2 he had against Carolina last year, too

I’d like to see Fitz get another shot. At least he get Djax the ball. Or maybe Jameis in the first half and a Fitz in the second. Anything should be better than this mess.

  14. BigMacAttack Says:

I think the best play of the game was the goal line stand on 4’th down. We haven’t seen that since McCoy Softy got here. I also think LDs strip of Mayfield on 4’th down was also a great play.
