Call Chucky II

October 24th, 2018

“Jiminy Christmas, I don’t know why the f@#k Jason Licht hasn’t texted me about a trade. SOB must still be p!ssed that I stiffed him on drinks in Indianapolis last winter. I love St. Elmo’s waitresses, man.”

Joe isn’t quite ready to jump on the bandwagon that the Bucs defense has been rescued by new defensive coordinator Mark Duffner.

Sure, things are looking up. Context needs to be put in order here. The Bucs played good defense against the fire hydrant of the NFL dog park known as the Browns. With a rookie quarterback.

So Joe has to see a string of games like last Sunday from the defense before trumpeting the defense’s return. So as we stand now six days from the trade deadline, Luke Easterling of USA Today believes there is a defender that plays for Chucky the Bucs could use.

That would be safety Karl Joseph.

Joseph may not be a household name, but he’s another former first-round pick in the secondary who appears to be on the crowded chopping block in Oakland. The No. 14 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Joseph has seen his role shrink considerably since Jon Gruden took over the team, making him a prime candidate for a potential trade.

This would be smart. The Bucs are already down fan favorite Chris Conte and Jordan Whitehead, who Joe likes a lot, struggles to stay on the field due to injuries.

Besides, it sure smells like Chucky is having a moving sale in Oakland before the team heads to Las Vegas in 2020, if not before.

Let’s see…. Mike Smith gone, and Batman errr Miss. Geraldine McCoy out = Win. Let’s do it again.

  2. LakeLand Says:

It depends on what Gruden want for him

  3. LakeLand Says:

The Raiders has released Safety Obi Melifonwu from IR

They say he is healthy now

  4. Bucsfaninchina Says:

Karl Joseph was a total boss at West Virginia. Would love to see the guy in red and pewter BUT we already have a developing hard hitting safety in Jordan Whitehead. Head over heart I’m afraid on this one.

  5. Ray Rice Says:

Offer his veteran loving A$$$$ Ed Reed and Geraldine McBooty for whoever.

  6. Bucsfaninchina Says:

Bucs should be picking up the phons up on Gareon Conley instead

  7. Brad Isherwood Says:

Look at Bucs D under Gruden,

    They were the Hunt*
    + turnovers every game.

    Is Gruden the Arrogant @?
Hell Ya! ….yet He moved O & D to level performance which = Superbowl Win!

    Never Forget. ….That!

Pushing players, & Intimidate. …is perview of Coaching staff.
Sorry……your here on contract to perform!

Bucs players who think they can 3 year and $$Million Rum party boat ride NFL,
Best consider their party status is short-lived.

Bucs One Place…..Need to send the attend message of last Sunday……..for you!

8 games in,……no excuse for skills……Vince Lombardi would head slap!

    Play……or hit the streets : )

  8. LakeLand Says:

They want too much for Gareon Conley
Gruden trying to create a bidding war for him

A team can get Melifonwu for free and pay him less than 700,000

  9. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I really liked Karl a lot coming out of college. Didn’t really buy the hype on Obi. Seems just like a tall guy that can run fast and jump high (plenty of those in the nba), but can he play football.
Sign one, sign them both of they’re cheap. Then when you are feeling like a boss hit your boy Steve Keim and go get Pat P.
Is this management and coaching staff going to make it another year if we fail to produce? Do we have the horses now? I don’t think so. Go get some new talent to compete.
    Go BUCS!!

  10. firethecannons Says:

wtf why not–should already be done–if it gets to point we talk about it here it isn’t happening–JL n DK are history if this teams bites it any worse–JL should absolutely spend da Glazer wad now

  11. Trench War Says:

Karl Joseph is a great ideal if it could be done without fleecing us.

  12. Lunchbox Says:

Hell yeah let’s get Joseph!! I wanted the Bucs to draft him in the first place. Whitehead is a hard hitter, but Joseph hits like John Lynch. Makes a lot of plays, including INT’s (in college at least, not sure about NFL). He’d instantly make our backfield better. I’d love if they got this done.

  13. Defense Rules Says:

How’s about instead we stop looking for ‘quick fixes’ … that’s what keeps getting us into problems. Bucs passed on numerous additional FAs after signing JPP, Curry, Allen & Unrein for our DLine plus Jenson for our OLine. We obviously decided that (1) we’d use the draft to TRY to fix obvious weaknesses (Secondary, RB, OLine); and (2) TRY to develop what we had for talent already on-hand (guys like Benenoch, Barber, Spence, VHIII, etc).

Licht’s strategy MIGHT have worked except for 3 minor (?) details: (1) talent already on-hand hasn’t necessarily equated to starting-caliber NFL talent (guys like Benenoch, Spence?); (2) players kept getting hurt & we had very limited DEPTH to fall back on; and (3) Bucs no longer have the CAP space to trade for/sign quality FAs to fill yet more holes. Would’ve added a fourth … that this coaching staff doesn’t have a great track-record of developing our own players … but Joe takes that as a given so no need to mention it. Oh wait, I just did.

Remember the old WYSIWYG? In the Bucs case it’s true … What You See Is What You Get. Stand by for a rough ride. What COULD make it interesting though is IF our Bucs’ OFFENSE starts playing lights-out, piling up the points, controlling the clock AND minimizing turnovers. Bucs offense NEEDS to carry the Bucs defense if we’re gonna have any chance of doing anything significant this year.

  14. Ted Kamensky Says:

Either one of their guards would be a nice upgrade for us at LG.

  15. Ted Kamensky Says:

    *RG

  16. BucEmUp Says:

Yeah because we let Randy walk for nothing

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The only trade deal we should be pursuing is the trading of Desean Jackson. He raised his stock this year. And Gruden is collecting picks in order to build his offense. We all know how much he likes vets.

He would give a first for Jackson.

  18. Wausa Says:

He’s a small safety, but has good coverage skills and speed.
If the Bucs can get him for a 5th or 6th I would do it.

  19. Mark2001 Says:

Bonzai ..Gruden wants picks, not old players.

  20. i like gunslingers Says:

jackson, brate, we still have the guns with godwin, howard, and evans, djax and winston are never going to be on the same page everyone knows it, and he’s getting paid to catch footballs not end arounds and punt returns, although he does excell at them and brate is imho one of thee best TE in the game, with the weapons we have they are luxury’s we could bring in the players we need, petersen and a safety, make it so licht even if you got to get rid of a high dollar pro bowler

  21. Season Is Over Says:

Why would you trade one of the best receivers in the league because your QB is unable to get him the ball? Either the QB is able to give him the ball or you need a new QB. Seems quite simple.

What has Karl Joseph done since he came into the league?

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

Why does the local media want to make the team worse?????? the current roster is just ahead the browns, And the sheep and local media want to trade away next year’s picks for old veterans that don’t know the system????? Fantasy football is more than just a game to some I guess!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bucs need to be selling!!!!!!!! And the next couple of games will only prove that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The trenches needed to be fixed and Jason licht started it and the new GM next year will continue too!!!!!!!!!! But they will need those picks to fix the inadequate roster!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we are not talking about who next year’s GM is then we are just wasting time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. 813bucboi Says:

karl joseph, keleche osemele, gabe Jackson…….get one of the licht!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  24. GhostofSchiano Says:

Is Irvin a possibility? Great replacement for kwon

  25. Jason Says:

I’m probably alone on this one, but I’d rather see some notable additions to the OL. Donovan Smith, Bennenoch, etc. are not what the Bucs need to consistently keep Jameis upright and in the pocket.

  26. JabooBuc Says:

So let me get this straight, we want to trade picks to get Joseph but we didn’t want Derwin James when we had the opportunity to draft him?

  27. Kobe Faker Says:

“OMG! The Alaskan Buc Realist and your Kobe Faker finally agree!

We should must be sellers for thr coming years ahead

Jason Gump has destroyed this team with overpaid FAs and WE HAVE NO MORE MONEY!!!

After we get blown out by Ginger and AJ Green…

Sell GMC, JPP, David, Curry, Djax and Brate

WE NEED DRAFT PICKS FOR OUR FUTURE GM”

    Kobe Faker

  28. 813bucboi Says:

    realist

if you ainttalking about a new HC your wasting your time….lol….you think a new GM will wont to stick with dirk….hell no!!!!!!!!!……the new GM will clean house and bring his coaches in to clean up the mess dirk and smitty created!!!!!!!…..then the new staff will have to burn a year “coaching the dirk and smitty” out of players……

if you aint talking new HC your pissing in the wind!!!!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!
