    wowzers…yowzers…wowzers!!!

  2. Easy Says:

I’m stoked Cichy made the roster. He’s gonna be a solid pro when he gets completely over his leg injury mentally.

  3. Dooshlarue Says:

I’m good with everyone except for keeping Ryan Smith.
    Hopefully that changes.

  4. adam from ny Says:

    alan cross long snapper…omg?

  5. adam from ny Says:

    alan cross “the red snapper”

  6. PSLBob Says:

Joe, you’ve done a great job of keeping everyone well informed. Great website! Appreciate your reporting!

  7. JimmyJack Says:

There seems to be a lot of dead weight on that Dline

  8. adam from ny Says:

they are def playing games and juggling back end linebackers at this point

  9. adam from ny Says:

    #MeetTheProtocolAndLetTheJugglingBegin 🙂

  10. kelley rose Says:

why are some names in red

  11. JimmyJack Says:

Rose…..I think those are red because their most expendable

There seems to be a lot of dead weight on that Dline

Majority of roster is dead weight just look at the results and basement titles

  13. Red86 Says:

My head scratcher are Ryan Smith and Freddy Martino. Would’ve choose that Harris or Coleman guy at cb. Also kept Sergio Bailey or Bo Bo wilson over Martino. Hopefully we practice squad those guys.

  14. kelley rose Says:

    red86 same here

  15. JimmyJack Says:

Joe I’m actually a pretty decent long snapper. Think you can see if the Bucs will get me a tryout.? I’ll admitted I’m under 200 lbs. Wouldn’t want you to look foolish.

  16. AlteredEgo Says:

RB Brandon Wilds ,Jags, looked good the other night and he was cut…bigger back

  17. D-Rome Says:

I’m not sure if Noah Spence deserved to be on the roster. Looking at who was cut, there wasn’t anyone that should be on the team in Spence’s place. Keith Tandy was a surprise. I’m glad Cichy, Wilson, and Watson are on.

  18. DanBucsFan Says:

    Thx Joe !

  19. Destinjohnny Says:

    Go get Bo Scarborough

  20. kasperfox Says:

Looks like Adam Gettis and De’Vante Harris are also the “initial” 53 man roster

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Really the only surprise is Martino being there over Bobo, and to a lesser extent Tandy getting the axe. I’d have kept Bobo but I don’t have to deal with him behind the scenes, so perhaps that has something to do with it. For Tandy I just don’t get, the guy has normally played OK when given the chance, while Conte is literally the worst safety in football according to Football Outsiders, an opinion I very much agree.

  22. firethecannons Says:

dame as Dooshrue-hope to see a new face over ryan smith–bad things tend to happen when ryan smith is playing

  23. BucNut33 Says:

Bobo should be on the roster. There are undeniable D-Jax traits in young Bobo. Let him work with the real deal to learn from and develop.

  24. JimmyJack Says:

Rod Tandy can’t be that much better if Conte has started over him in the last several seasons. Either way, they don’t want Tandy or Conte starting here by the end of the season. The plan is For Evans/Whitehead. Out with the old in with the new

  25. Buchead5588 Says:

Hey y’all might want to go to Buccaneers.com there 53 man Roster is a little different than Joes come on joe we need accuracy

  26. Anonymous Says:

I think Bobo will be catching balls from Jamies during his suspension

  27. Offbrand Says:

Calling Conte the worse saftey in the league in an indictment of your own ignorance pertaining to saftey play. Isaiah Johnson out played Tandy by a mile, it wasn’t even close.

  28. D Smythe Says:

Bobo will be catching passes from Jameis during his suspension

  29. Wausa Says:

    I’m surprised Sanborn was cut

  30. gracelivin Says:

just missing DeVante Harris db and Adam Gettis ol

  31. JimmyJack Says:

Buchead5588………When Winston first was accused by the NFL Buccaneers dot com didn’t even mention it. I have no conceivable reason to go to that website for anything.

  32. tnew Says:

Won’t be shocked if Unrein doesn’t get an injury settlement or starts on the IR at best.

  33. BoJim Says:

I like it. Get em Bucs!

  34. Dan Says:

Defense looks old on paper and offense has major issues. No legit running back and a backup qb for 5 weeks and a should be back up in Winston. Let’s be homes 6-10 looms folks.

  35. Godeep66 Says:

I hope everyone is watching next year’s first round draft pick, Will Grier. Will the Thrill!!!

  36. NewTampaChris Says:

Yes, this looks like a 6-10 roster. Glad I have the Red Zone channel so I can watch some decent football this year.

  37. El_Buc941 Says:

I’m not to happy keeping Freddie Martino over Bobo Wilson but eh,coach koetter knows why. Joe can you make a post about surprise cuts around the league and players the bucs should jump on asap

  38. stpetebucsfan Says:

Are you ready for some football!!!!

  39. Godeep66 Says:

4 tight ends. One of them better be the damn long snapper. 4-12 roster

  40. SOEbuc Says:

I guess Devante Harris was only here to pump the Bucs with Saints info. But he looked pretty good for only being here two weeks.

  41. Sweeptheleg Says:

    6-10

  42. Rod Munch Says:

The Conte truthers crack me up. Go look it up kiddo, Football Outsiders have him literally as the worth safety in football, and have Ryan Smith as the second worst corner, which is nonsense as there is no way anyone is worse than Ryan Smith – I’ve never in my 30+ years of watching football seen a guy as bad as Ryan Smith, at any lever, ever. If you want to know why the Bucs had the worst defense in the NFL last year, why they finished #32 in defense for the FIRST time in team history, it’s because of the god-awful stack of Ryan Smith and Chris Conte.

  43. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    4-12

  44. El_Buc941 Says:

Dallas released Dan Bailey. Jason Licht better get the glazer jet on it’s way to pick him up ASAP! Also the Bengals released CB Adam Jones, wouldn’t hurt to bring him in for a looksie. Also I think we should throw Seattle a 5th round pick for Earl Thomas, see if they bite.

  45. JimmyJack Says:

Sure Rod……..But here’s another truth for you. When Tandy was on the field last year he was highly ineffective. Same thing during the preseason.

The thing you seem to be having trouble with is thinking the Bucs love Conte and wanna build around him. It’s not what they’re doing. It was not the plan last year it is not the plan this year. They brought in Ward last year and had to fall back on Conte. This year they went for youth and hope to replace Conte.

You’re over their touting Conte as the worst S in football. That’s making g you look like an uneducated Bucs fan bro. You can’t tell us he was worse then Ward and think we don’t see through your BS.

Don’t come at me with football outsider nonsense that only tells half the story.

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Wow, you trolls really showed up to hate in this one.

Someone will be cut to make room for a long snapper, and I bet a few others will be switched out as well.

  47. JimmyJack Says:

Bonzai……They could cut half of that Dline and not miss a beat IMO

  48. Hodad Says:

I’m surprised Spence made the team. The designated pass rusher couldn’t get a sack against 3rd teamers all preseason. This is Licht not wanting another 2nd round bust on his resume. Wishful thinking won’t make it so.

  49. Trench War Says:

What makes Aaron Schatz such an expert on talent? I’ve watched Conte and he gets blamed a lot for others broken coverage. Just because fans see him as the last one chasing down a receiver they think it was his assignment. He gets way too much unearned blame.

  50. JimmyJack Says:

On a good note I actually (for once like our depth across the Oline. But if both Smith and Wester are iffy injury-wise we need another tackle. Which may not be a bad idea either way, especially with Dotson being very unreliable.

  51. Capt. Blighe Says:

Clinton McDonald got cut, bring him back.

  52. JimmyJack Says:

Hodad which DE would have kept over Spence. you could make the argument that Spence is here because we are so weak at that position. Even if we bring somebody else in you could make the case for three or four guys getting cut before Spence just because Spence has potential…….which is more then you can say about others.

  53. SCBucsFan Says:

All of you who want to cut Spence, who has been hurt, are delusional

  54. JimmyJack Says:

I just said Spence four times in that comment. I feel dirty now.

  55. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – What’s your take on Doug Martin last year?

  56. rrsrq Says:

Ryan Smith is cheaper and more sturdy than Josh Robinson. Last year I would consider his rookie year at corner, he is also a gunner and pretty sure tackler, he backs up when Kwon Moses a tackle or two. Believe me. If you saw Myron Lewis, you would not say he is the worse player you ever seen.
Tandy will likely end up on a playoff contender just like Najee Goode did with the Eagles

  57. JimmyJack Says:

Rod….I have none which is the number of plays he made for us last year.

  58. JimmyJack Says:

So that means that my take is that he was ineffective

  59. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

Remember folks draft talk officially starts werk 5 after the 0-4 start. Next years roster is more relevant than this list of basement dwellers

  60. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    Bonzi

Might as well start on your BS ASSumptions and excuses to justify another basement run by the worst ran sports franchise on earth. Your delusional takes make my day.

  61. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    SCBucsFan

Coming from a cult member delusional means nothing

  62. Kobe Faker Says:

“Kobe sees 4 players that should be cut but they are taking up a roster spot because it would make Forrest Gump look bad as a GM…

This reminds me when I was jumped over and had to wait longer than others for my disability checks”

    Kobe Faker

  63. Costa Rica John Says:

Spence didn’t look good this pre-season but I have to give him a pass. As a rookie he showed promise before getting hurt. Then last year he was hurt. He may not be playing at 100 percent and trying to protect that shoulder. Let’s see where he is at the end of this season then decide to keep or cut him.

  64. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – So the same coaching staff that put Martin out there knows what they’re doing with Conte?

  65. Kobe Faker Says:

“Don’t forget Klueless was confident that Nowhere Spence was a starting pass rush specialist beginning of TC…

Monken better be our playcaller because if not…

We are heading toward the top 3 worst record”

    Kobe Faker

  66. JimBuc2 Says:

Really happy for Watson and Whitehead. Have to trust in coach Buckner on Spence because when I reviewed Jags game all I saw was #57 getting rag dolled every time he took on a tackle. Dude got turned away most every snap, I mean like his back, not his grille, facing opposing QB. That is really poor play. Buck says he needs to grow mentally. Really? Dude strikes me as all hat, no cattle. I think we’ll bring back Bobo. I kinda think Bucs told him to lay low (not in Miami!) and go work with Jameis, as Joe suggested. I really don’t want to see Cappa snapping any time soon, either. Get r done, GO BUCS!

  67. Wesley Says:

This roster is weak, cannot wait for Licht to be gone.

  68. Defense Rules Says:

@DestinJohnny … “Go get Bo Scarborough.” I thought he was great at Bama, but he’s done nothing this preseason. Averaged 2.9 YPC (24 carries for 69 yds, but 28 yds came on 1 good run (take that away & he averaged 1.8 YPC behind a pretty decent Cowboys OLine). There’ll be some veteran big backs available.

Several guys retained surprised me, but probably shouldn’t have. With Winston on suspension & Beckwith not available for probably several more weeks, I’d guess that at least 2 players (maybe more) are on a short leash (as in 3 games) to see how they perform under the big top. There’ll be a number of additional personnel moves this week, and several more in the first 3 weeks of the season. What concerns me now is our young young young Secondary … our DLine better lead the league in QB pressures.

  69. gp Says:

    I see plenty of talent
Now I need to see a Team ethic and a winning Attitude
    I wanna see some football!

  70. Pickgrin Says:

Not sure what you neggy Nancys are whining about.

This is a damn solid NFL roster.

Deep AF at WR, TE, LB, DL, QB

A Lot of young talent in the secondary – Also a bunch of 25/26 and unders on the OL and at RB.

Time for all this young talent to step up!

Good Luck men. Go kick some ass!

  71. Ndog Says:

Godeep66 you are the worst poster on this site and that is saying alot. Please just go be a “fan” of another team. It is depressing just seeing you name in the comments.

  72. Godeep66 Says:

@ndog: please keep trying to troll me.

  73. Off the Cuff Says:

Should’ve kept Bobo Wilson over Freddie Martino

  74. Ndog Says:

There cannot be a more negative fan base than ours, it is disgusting. This team has a top 5 WR/TE core, deep dline, a good starting RB with a promising young RB, 3 very good QBs one that about to be a superstar, the potential to have a very good secondary that grows up together (4 players drafted in the top 2 rounds) and very good youth on the oline (Marpet, Smith, Jensen, Beneoch and Cappa). This team could be very very good very soon.

  75. Ndog Says:

Not trolling just telling the truth. You are negative and we have not played a game yet. If we end up playing like crap complain away, what is the point of being a fan if you hate everything about the team?

  76. Ed Kerber Says:

Thanking the good Lord that Gruden went to the Raiders. Either he is a talent evaluating genius or he is destroying another team like he destroyed the Bucs. I like the direction the Buccaneers are headed. There is a bunch of talent (unlike when Licht took over). I wish they would be a bit more aggressive in fixing glaring holes, but the team is set for a good season.

  77. JimmyJack Says:

Rod Munch….Touche on that. But I will say that while this team has made some bad mistakes with players they brought in I can’t think of any that babe let go that you would call a mistake. Except I think Licht released Barron in his first year.

That being said I don’t think releasing Tandy is that big a deal.

  78. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Can’t troll the queen of trolls unogodeep.66. No one can get down that low, but its ok we kinda understand. Being up here gives your life some kind of relevance intetacting with human beings and not barn animals even though your mama said those people are the devil! It’s ok, when mama is gone you can get up on her computer use the her dial up since she says the internet is the devil. Now put your depends back on and go back to your man size crib and put your adult pacifier back in your mouth and go to sleep it’s nite nite time!

  79. Jeagan1999 Says:

We need another RB. Ryan Nall, who rushed for nearly a 7.0 avg during the preseason with the Bears, just got released today. The big back (6”2’ 234lbs) would be a great pickup! With Ronald Jones struggling, Nall would be a much needed insurance policy.

  80. JimmyJack Says:

Ndog….good post. All those thing you talked about is the hope. If they all come together we are in store for a lot of fun football.

I forget what fun football feels like. The Bears game last year was fun. After that it felt like Wile E coyote standing in mid-air

  81. Mike Johnson Says:

Scour the waiver wires. Spence is dead Weight. Couple others on this sad A.. Roster gotta go too.

  82. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    Ndog

You are calling people negative when they have not won a single damn game yet. Some of the players you are handing free passes to have not even taken a nfl snap. Its not negative its reality this roster is soft, weak, unproven and completely neglected in some key areas. They must earn respect on field but odds are not in thier favor given history and lack of organizational leadership

  83. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Yo this just in Bears acquire Kahlil Mack 6yrs $140 mil $90 mil guaranteed. Like we couldn’t do that! This sucks for the 4th game of the season@

  84. Kobe Faker Says:

Kobe thinks grudog is making a great move and building his team to peak at the opportune time

Grudog knows he can’t win with that defense with or without Mack. He is getting all the draft capital to win by the draft to peak 2-3 years from now

Grudog actually learned from others while being in the studio

    * you can’t patchwork and quick fix a winning roster (Gump)
*you need to lose to win- you need to get rid of older vets and replace with young talent to peak at the right time and while cheap
****NEVER ever pay a defensive lineman 22+ mill at 32-33 years of age

    Kobe Faker

  85. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Godeep66, we always keep 4 TEs. One or more play FB also.

  86. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I would’ve kept Bobo over Freddy, but Koetter is thinking special teams and I’m thinking offense.

  87. BuccaneEric75 Says:

David, think salary cap. We would have to give them DJax and Gholston to offset the money. Those are 2 of the 3 players that we pretty much know won’t be here next season.!id rather trade them now for something rather than let them walk. We won’t get compensatory picks for them if we sign FA’s next year!

  88. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – I don’t think it’s a huge issue on Tandy, I just don’t get how the Bucs go year after year without doing more to replace Conte. Hopefully Whitehead is in there starting sooner rather than later and then we won’t need to see Conte getting burned or drawing PI calls or missing tackles when it matters most.

  89. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Is Kobe and godeep66 the same person?
Or do you guys just share the same IQ point.

  90. D-Rome Says:

The Conte truthers crack me up. Go look it up kiddo, Football Outsiders have him literally as the worth safety in football

Irrelevant. FO does not know the Bucs playbook or what Conte’s role is in the Bucs system. Neither do any of you for that matter so please spare us the Conte is always out of position talk.

  91. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “This is sure to change soon as general manager Jason Licht scans the waiver wire for help and makes offers, likely at offensive line, cornerback and running back.”

Had overlooked that line Joe when I first read it, but I sure do hope that you’re right. Several rookie big backs got released yesterday, but I’d rather see an experienced RB in there to complement Barber, RoJo & Wilson (preferably a big back to give us some oomph near the goal line). Our Secondary is extremely young (very talented, but inexperienced) & a veteran CB could help there. OLine has some talent too, but still need an upgrade at RG & more experienced depth.

Most concerning part of this initial roster is who we’re lacking. If I understand right, Beckwith on PUP means he can’t come back until after 6 games I think. Unrein had to make the 53-man roster to do on IR eligible to return (not eligible though until 8th game?). Vea is on the roster but not ready for prime-time yet … meaning we’re down 2 on the DLine & down 1 LB to start the season (bummer). Still not sure that our Secondary rookies are all healed up. Been expecting the Bucs’ defense to ‘save the day’ in these tough first 3 games but that’s gonna be tough now. So much for having a fantastic DLine rotation.

  92. Wausa Says:

One more cut will happen when the Bucs sign a long snapper and another will occur(unless there is a player that goes on IR in the next 21 days) when Jameis returns.

  93. Jman Says:

    Tua 2020

  94. thunderchunkyPA Says:

I did not see many WOW names the were let go. People talk about Tandy like he was Ronnie Lott. I also agree on N Spence, the man looked so bad against guys who will be selling cars and cutting lawns. Let’s see what else goes on in the next couple days.

  95. Cobraboy Says:

10 DL were kept because of the dings to Vea and Unrein. Physical evaluations this week on those two are key.

  96. Godeep66 Says:

Will Grier 2019 number one draft pick. PLEASE.

  97. adam from ny Says:

that pic of licht and koetter is soo coo!

they look like they know they’re doomed, and they’re discussing slinking outta town after week 17 in a cheap ole winnebago

  98. Jman Says:

Go deep wait a year rank for Tua 2020

  99. Buc believer Says:

@adam… Dirk looks like the skinny kid that the big fat doofus kid (Licht) likes to pick on all the time and steal his lunch money.
