“Unbelievable Energy”

August 13th, 2018

After a “sluggish” showing to open practice Saturday, per Dirk Koetter, the head coach gushed about what he saw today from the good guys.

After a day off on Sunday, the Bucs came out smokin’ and didn’t let up, Koetter said.

“That was one of our best practices of the year right there,” Koetter said. “We had unbelievable energy on both sides. You know coming off a day off, sometimes these guys will come out here and drag. The weather might have helped a little bit but I thought our energy was excellent all day. You’re always going to coach execution when you’re working with this many guys, but if they have good energy and their talking and communicating to each other, then it’s going to help our team get better.”

Great to hear. Joe will savor good news all day long. The Bucs are back at practice again tomorrow and then against the Titans in Tennessee on Wednesday and Thursday in Nashville.

Koetter needs to go to the school of Belicheck….and learn all 10 sentences that he repeats over and over to the media and just changes the names.

    In monotone voice:
Tom is great player. We have a lot of great players.
    Edelman is great…..
    Practice was great…..
    Our corners were great…..
    Our play was great.
Tom was not great. We are not a great team.
    Edelman was not great.
    Practice was not great.
    Our corners were not great.
    Our play was not great.

My personal favorite: I’m a football coach…not a doctor. (to be applied to all injury situations)

There is only so many cliche’s in the playbook, it ain’t rocket science. Just variations of we were great and we stunk up the place.

So what if they had low energy? Isn’t it the coach’s job to ensure each practice has comsistent energy regardless of how the players are feeling?

We had one of the softest training camps last year and it feels like things haven’t gotten much stricter.
