“He Never Complains About Anything”

Mike Evans talks about a teammate

Describe a man as sober and someone will wonder, ‘When was he a drunk?’

It’s not fair, but the human mind is conditioned to make that leap.

Prototype football player and second-year wide receiver Chris Godwin continues to shine and has the extremely deep admiration of nearly everyone associated with the Buccaneers. He’s earned it, and maybe he’ll get the chances this season to build on the 34 catches he had in 2017.

Pro Bowl teammate Mike Evans is one of Godwin’s biggest cheerleaders. He often says Godwin is/will be a No. 1 receiver in the NFL, which of course is Evans’ job on the Bucs. It’s cool that Evans is so secure with himself.

Yesterday at One Buc Palace, Joe watched Evans talked about Godwin being a No 1 receiver with a CBS Sports crew. The network had various people at practice preparing for the nationally televised Bucs-Lions game tomorrow night. Evans also talked about how “Godwin never complains about anything.”

Joe really perked up hearing that quote. Godwin was banged up last season with various ailments and he had a significant problem with allergies. And now Evans is going out of his way to say Godwin never even moaned about anything. That’s impressive.

Of course, Evans’ comment made Joe wonder how much complaining Evans routinely hears from teammates. Hopefully, it’s not much.

Too bad Swaggy didn’t have tree allergies…..

    What a beast!

  4. Waterboy Says:

If they can find an average running game this team could go far. Can’t have another year where the teams longest TD run is 2 yds.

I’ll take 2 #1 receivers. That means more likelyhood that one of them is wide open for an explosive play downfield! If defenses have to account for both Evans and Godwin each down, that gives Brate, Howard or Hump a shot at moving the chains, too! Now, if we can keep the signal caller upright…

My late mother always tried to teach me…with marginal success lol…to not waste my time beotching. Nobody wants to hear it.

    TBBF

    That’s a good one.
I have never bought a new team jersey, but if we changed our crappy uniforms Godwin’s would probably be the first one I’d buy.
    Love this kid.

    that’s right GOdwin…..no complaints….no excuses!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!

  9. Godeep66 Says:

Could he possibly be so amazed at Godwin’s maturity because he was such an immature complaint punk his first three years in the league???

  10. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

If only he could rub some of that off on some of the so called male fans up here! Site would be more bearable!

  11. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

To bad the defensive captains have not shared this work ethic and philosophy that this fine young man demonstrates. Leaders of losing culture must go to allow the youth to flourish

  12. Pickgrin Says:

Doosh – we found common ground for a change.

I said I would never buy a current jersey the first day they were “revealed” – and haven’t and won’t.

Would buy 3 or 4 immediately though if the design was changed to something respectable (Hint Hint Glazers…)

  13. Casey Morgan Says:

Loved the original red and pewter jerseys. Why did they have to change to alarm clock numbers?

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

The Titans had some strange numbers also but the Bucs numbers take the ugly prize.

  15. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Godeep please stop being the punk you are and call Mike Evans a punk to his face.

  16. Pickgrin Says:

I noticed that Buccfan – the Titans jersey #s were as ugly or worse than the Bucs alarm clock style #s. Must have been another Nike “creative moment” involved there. When are these teams going to learn?

Bucs Jerseys still looked way worse than the Titans though.

Glazers – DITCH THE CLOWN SUITS!

  17. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Doosh and Pick

I’m with you guys on the hideous Buc uni’s. And Doosh like you #12 will be my next Buc’s jersey…if they change the ugly gear before Godwin retires.

Thinking of Godwin as another #1 is exciting. Remember the great Pittsburgh Steeler SB teams…Lynn Swann and John Stallworth…who was #1? They were both great.

  18. diggler Says:

Evans isnt even a #1 receiver. Great slot guy tho. Real #1s can take it to the house instead of falling down.

  19. Rod Munch Says:

diggler <– Wow, your IQ is lower than Evan's, and that is saying something.
