Koetter Enjoyed Dungy’s Visit

August 15th, 2018

Speaks about famous visitor.

Yesterday, Father Dungy, the man who turned the Bucs from the Yucs into contenders, was at One Buc Palace to be feted with a press conference.

Joe will have more of what Dungy had to say but for a brief moment yesterday, Joe thought Dungy was going to break down. He seemed on the very edge of getting emotional.

And like Chucky last year, Dungy hung out for practice and chatted with the team for roughly 20 minutes. Joe will have more of that later.

Dirk Koetter, who referred to Dungy as “Coach,” sure seemed honored to be able to spend time with the Hall of Famer.

“It’s great to have [Dungy] here,” Koetter said. “It’s rare that you get a guy that’s in the Colts Ring of Honor, the Bucs Ring of Honor and the NFL Hall of Fame. Doesn’t get much bigger than that.

“Coach spent about 20 minutes talking to the players this morning and who better than a local guy and a guy that does care about the Bucs and was here? He did a phenomenal job and very honored for us to have him here today.”

What the hell do the Bucs have to do to get some magic from these coaches to rub off on the team, start sacrificing chickens? Work ouija boards?

Chucky and Father Dungy both come to offer wisdom and thus far (though the Bucs haven’t played a real game since Dungy visited), it hasn’t added up to a damn thing.

Did Team Glazer sell its soul to the devil for that Super Bowl ring?

Yes JBF, Old man Glazer did sell his soul for a SB ring. Imagine, Bucs fired Dungy for losing IN THE PLAYOFFS! Not to mention Dungy is the class act of all coaches. I hope Bucs bring him back ala Tom Coughlin style like the Jags did.

  2. Eric Says:

Hang on to a good coach when you have one would have been helpful.

    vs. unqualified yahoos.

  3. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

The talent is there. Sure, we have a few weaknesses, but most teams do. Our SB team could barely score, but they overcame.

  4. VA Tom Says:

Dirk seems like a good coach. I suspect with both Gru and Dungy in the ring in two consecutive years he’s gotta be feeling the pressure. The message (intentional or not from management) is pretty loud.

Keep drafting good players, don’t trade draft picks, re-sign playmakers …
The Superbowl team of 2002 was 5-7 years in the making

  6. Destinjohnny Says:

The glazers fired dungy and Gruden

  7. ndog Says:

I know this is totally off topic but I am perplexed as to why people think this team is going to be so bad. I mean yesterday I heard Ian Beckles say we cant win in NO, Atl, or Carolina. Heck last year at Carolina with a backup oline, 2 of or 4 starting Dline out, and a still injured QB we still had them beat until the final minute and that was with a kickoff return against us mixed in. I just cannot understand what people are not seeing. Are they just so hung up on last year they cant get beyond it to the point where they actually look at this team for what it is now? I mean just look at the rosters and I cant even see how anyone thinks overall the Saints have a better roster than us. Is Brees and Karma better than Jameis and Barber yes but I would say Know and LVD are way better than Manti Te’o and Demario Davis. Or I would take Justin Evans over Mr. Oley in the NFC title game Marcus Williams. How about the dline they have Cameron Jordan, Marcus Davenport, Sheldon Rankins and Tyler Davison starting. Please tell me how that is better than JPP, Curry, GMC and a 1st round pick from a major school as opposed to the roadrunner school Davenport went to? I would say that Lattimore and Grimes are a wash and other than that neither one of us have any proven corners. So how are they sooo much better than us? It is just lazy reporting and frankly I hope we just stay quite and come out and destroy this Saints team.

Dungy has an uncanny ability to pick coaches. Not sure about his drafts. (No, Dungy was not here when Sam Wyche selected John Lynch, Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks.)

  9. Godeep66 Says:

2-14. First pick in the draft: Will the thrill Will Grier will be the Bucs all time greatest QB

  10. Jmarkbuc Says:

Lattimore, Nfl Def Rookie of the year. > Grimes, 35yr old who prolly won’t play every game.

Every running attack in the south..Coleman/Freeman..Ingram/Kamara..Mccaffrey/whoever > Barber/Rojo

QB? really I’m not even going there…..

We have know idea yet if our Dline full of castoffs is gonna be good or not.

Kwon can’t tackle and Lavonte has been the invisible man

Finally, OUR COACHING STAFF IS NO WHERE NEAR ANY OF THE OTHER SOUTH COACHES, even Payton..AND ESPECIALLY DEFENSIVELY

I don’t like it either, but it’s the truth…Joe has even resorted to looking for injuries to help us out..how sad is that..It’s not the way I want to win. Does that answer your question?

  11. reality-is-a-beotch Says:

everybody enjoys mediocrity at one buc circus tent and no one represents failed mediocrity more than dungy the clown and his pathetic career post season losing record… I will say this dungy the clown is perfect for the bucs ring of underachievement outside of selmon and sapp the rest of the underachievers don’t belong in ring of underachievement.

  12. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Joe

If TD was Pres of football ops, he wouldn’t have to directly draft players. I mean he might have input, but that would be the GM’s job, or am I missing something?

  13. Season Is Over Says:

Why are the other teams better than us? The other teams win consistently or have won consistently. Hence they get the benefit of the doubt in the media. The Bucs have been a laughable mess for what seems to be all of recent memory. Winston’s claim to fame is a five game winning streak where the defense played well in his three years. Also, Brees can actually throw an accurate deep ball to keep defenders on their toes. Should I go on?

  14. TX Bucs fan Says:

So by the logic of some on this site, we should just forfeit the entire season so nobody gets injured and start looking for our next coaching staff? Complete ignorance IMO.

Every team has had roster changes and will have question marks going into the season. Stay calm and try to be a fan!

  15. ndog Says:

Jmarkbuc yet we beat them last year with no D-Jax, no Marpet, no Ayers, no Spence but yeah they are sooo much better than us. Get a clue man and start thinking for yourself instead of just reading what other clueless people think.

What good offense coach did he hire again?

Les Steckel?, Clyde Christain, Mike Shula?

  17. ndog Says:

TX Bucs fan you should give it up, these people are weak-minded folks with a loser mentality and one of the Joes is right there with them.

  18. Buccfan37 Says:

Koetter and company better kick up the coaching pace if any want to make into the ring of honor, hehe. Stranger than fiction that possibility would be. What a day for a day dream.

  19. Godeep66 Says:

JMarkBuc is spot on with his analysis. I went to he Nola game last year and it was total domination by the Saints. The NOLA fans felt bad for us poor Bucs fans, some of them even offering free drinks to help offset our sadness. Yes we did beat them at the end of the season on a lucky pass BUT the Saints had nothing to play for in that game. We will lose by at least two TD’s in this game. Sad but true.

  20. Joe Says:

    ndog:

Well, he hired a Who’s Who of coaches, one of which won a Super Bowl. Problem with hiring Dungy to run a team would be offense. Not only his assistants, but offensive draft picks under him (outside of two running backs) were dreadful.

  21. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Ndog

You ask a question, but don’t like a legitimate answer…

You’re kidding right? we beat NO at the last minute with a lucky throw…

You are aware we went 5-11 right?

Anybody with two eyes could see it, as well as who is clueless.

  22. ndog Says:

Well they could not have felt bad for you as you are clearly not a Bucs fan. Why do you even come to this website if you think we are just horrible and cant even be a little positive about the season that hasn’t even started yet?

  23. Jmarkbuc Says:

    You asked the question…

  24. ndog Says:

So now you are basing your argument on luck. Wow that holds up pretty well. Get a clue and let the grown ups talk about football and you go try to find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Luck SMH…..

  25. reality-is-a-beotch Says:

problem with hiring dungy would be that he is NOT A WINNER…. No single coach in NFL history has had as many hall of famers on both sides of the ball and still has a PATHETIC POST SEASON RECORD…. Dungy has wasted more hall of famers carers than obama wasted tax dollars supporting friends in Chicago. Dungy is pure mediocrity gets a nice guy free pass but the legend of dungy surpassed his actual accomplishments long ago. it’s comical the love of failures the bucfans have. hall of fame has zero credibility with such mediocrity enshrined. Tom Flores head and shoulders buries dungy the clown and is the first minority head coach to win a Superbowl another title the dungy clown supporters falsely like to claim as his. dungy is pure mediocrity at it’s finest. the clown wins in regular season then embarrasses himself when the big boys come to play in the postseason. One dimensional, ignorant, stubborn and pure mediocrity is truly the only way to describe dungy’s actual on-field accomplishments.

  26. Gambelero Says:

Let’s try a lamb instead of a chicken. A famous Jewish historian estimated the Passover population of Jerusalem by counting the number of kids slaughtered. Came up with 300,000 in a city with a normal population of 30,000. Must have made the Roman authorities very nervous—nervous enough to crucify anyone even remotely suspected of rabble rousing.

Not sure how effective the lamb sacrifices were for the Jewish people. Maybe someone here could check and see how their two big revolts against the Romans ended. I vaguely remember that one was against the Flavians and the other against Hadrian.

ndog, don’t let those ladies get to ya. They babble the same nonsense day in and day out. Who cares? Just the other sheep, that’s who. Could you imagine being near these ladies at a sports bar watching a game? These are the type you avoid like the plague. Their opinion means absolutely nothing. Laugh ’em off. The Bucs will match up with every team they face this season. We’re deep and talented. Keep JW upright and we’ll make some noise. I know where you’re coming from. I’m right there with ya.

  28. Jmarkbuc Says:

Not sure how I’m basing my argument on Luck..

We beat a NO team whose playoff position was locked down, on a last minute lucky (albeit nice) throw.. DK was playing for a field goal, which we may or may not have made.

1-5 against our own division… You’re the pot o gold and rainbow and Unicorn guy….With no basis in reality, football or otherwise.

Perhaps you need a little more “Maturing” seems to be a common theme on this team….

Your question was asked and definitively answered..Now go put on your Buccaneer pajamas and crawl back in bed son.

  29. BucEmUp Says:

    Pelbuc, that would be phenomenal.

  30. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Hey Joe

Help ndog out..with the definition of Buccaneer Cove

  31. D1 Says:

    Jmark,

But if you look at the 9-7 season DK went 4-2 against the division. So the stat you picked is evidence of your own opinion not necessarily a true reflection of the team under DK.

Btw, read you’re traveling to attend a game. Do you want/expect the team to lose? Anyway, hope you enjoy a victory and a great return visit.

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

    D1

I was a season ticket holder for 10 years , I have been a Buc fan my whole life…Of course I don’t want the team to lose, wtf?

The team LAST YEAR was 1-5 in the division under Dirk..that is not my opinion.

You finally proved to me what everybody has been saying for a minute now……… you are tmax under another name and IP. Word for word style.
