Some Injury Updates, Info

August 22nd, 2018

Update.

Just a few observations on injuries at the final Bucs training camp practice for 2018.

* Justin Evans: The Bucs safety had a foot injury of some sort early in practice yesterday. There was a report that Evans was carted off the field which insinuates a major injury. The report was accurate but somewhat misleading. Yes, Evans left the sidelines of the practice field in a golf cart but he was rising as a passenger as a courtesy to go inside One Buc Palace.

You know, sort of like getting an Uber ride in Arizona without a hassle with the driver.

Evans was spotted last night at the “Women of Red” event at the Bucs’ indoor hut walking on his own. Evans was also walking on his own in shorts today at practice and wasn’t wearing any sort of boot or visible ankle wrap.

* Donovan Smith: He was not spotted at practice today.

* Ali Marpet: Was in shorts watching practice. No word if he only had a veteran day off or if he has some minor issue.

* Caleb Benenoch: He too was watching practice today wearing sweats. Benenoch has been battling nicks and bruises on and off the past couple of weeks.

* Leonard Wester: He also was in shorts. Yesterday, Wester was wearing a compression sock on his right leg.

*Vita Vea: Still walking around drills without a uniform on. He’s popular with fans but he’s not talking about his now four-week-old injury.

Can’t wait for Vea to return I think he is going to be stout in the middle especially against the run !

  4. Gambelero Says:

Coax Joe Thomas out of retirement. Not sure how it works, but I guess the Browns own the rights. Give up DJax before they sign Dez. For the Browns, it’s like they’re getting a hard working, dedicated A list receiver for nothing.

Thomas spent 11 seasons being the big tackle in the game, but he blocked for Deshone Kizers and Jonny Drug-Addicts his whole career. You know he wants a chance at a ring, a chance to protect an A-list QB like Winston.

When the Broncos signed Manning, they instantly became division favorites and favorites to get to the super bowl, even though they were in the same conference as the Pats. If we sign Thomas, our win total expectation will make a huge jump, up to 8 or even 8.5, our odds of winning the Super Bowl go from tied for the worst to above average, and Winston’s odds of winning the MVP award go from 100-1 to 8-1.

I wonder how Vita will do in this heat, after not having any conditioning the last couple of weeks.

How is Carl Nicks’ big toe……if he’s ready….let’s bring him on.

  7. Dewey Selmon Says:

Joe Thomas has lost a lot of weight. He is retired. and out of football shape.

  8. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

What about Beckwith and when can he start running?

  9. Stanglassman Says:

I’m sure Vita will have some work to do in order to get in shape but he has been conditioning since he got the boot off a week and a half ago. Btw he’s been injured 3.5 weeks, Sunday will be 4.
Off topic. I was encouraged by the Monken today when he said they needed to work on establishing the run this in this weeks game. We’ve got to get better production out of the run game in order to have success this season.

  10. Joe Says:

    Evolving:

Beckwith told Joe today he is running but has no idea when he will be cleared to get back on the field.

  11. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

Thanks Joe!!! good to hear, if he’s running should just be a matter of time till the docs clear him, hopefully…..

  12. Eric Says:

    Anthony Munoz?

  13. DB55 Says:

Wow so the entire oline is hurt except for Ryan Jensen?

They say it’s 2-4 weeks for Donovan

  15. Lord Cornelius Says:

Doesn’t matter because people will still freak out and act like we’re the unhealthiest team in the NFL despite reality

  16. Godeep66 Says:

Great reporting Joe. It would be great for a member of the press to ask Koetter why the injury timelines are always projected shorter than they actually end up. Does he think he is Bilachek?

  17. Oxycondoms Says:

Never draft a morbidly obese individual that high

  18. Mike in LOL Says:

Oxy that statement is so far off base it’s not even in the ballpark.

  19. Brandon Says:

You guys know that Joe Thomas is probably weighing in at about 250 pounds right now, right?

  20. unbelievable Says:

Well at least all the injuries besides Evans are just guys who play in the trenches, it’s not like those are important or anything.

    /end sarcasm

Gambelero, unfortunately Joe Thomas as already lost about 60-70lbs. He’s retired and ready for a TV gig. If he was going to play he’d only stay in Clev, he’s turned down chances to play for winners twice. Let’s hope Smith comes back early, and ready to play. Go Bucs!
