The Man

Peyton Barber’s preseason ended after tonight’s opening drive with 15 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Doug who?

Barber was punishing and quick on a wet field against the Lions behind three backups starting on the offensive line.

No-excuses Barber had  five carries for 34 yards and a touchdown and he should have Bucs fans applauding the organization and the relentless work ethic of the undrafted third-year back out of Auburn.

He’s an extraordinarily serious guy, a young man who physically went back to college — not online — this spring and grinded to within a couple of classes of his degree. Train, school, train, school. Get ready for training camp as the Bucs’ No. 1 back.

Tampa Bay might have its first real-deal starting running game — and running back — since 2015.

Peyton Barber is SMOOTH when he runs. Reminds me of Caddy that way

  2. Lamarcus Says:

    Ok now I’m completely sold.

  3. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Man, if you guys knew how much respect I have for him since the first day Bucs picked him up after going undrafted.

I tweeted his story out everyday…Peyton followed me on Twitter…and then I just wanted him to ball out..

I am so dang proud of this young man..so very proud…

  4. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Joe called it prior to us keeping Martin again last season. I was Martin blind until the end of last season. Go Bucs!

  5. BucfanBF Says:

I have always liked this kid! extreme work ethic and dedication to his craft. Reminds me of Earnest Graham.

  6. rrsrq Says:

I think most of us saw this his rookie year, He if continued to work hard, I just think Dirk didn’t trust him last year, but he was definitely a better ball carrier than DM

  7. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Rrsrq most knew he could run but nobody was calling louder for Barber then Joe. We all felt Martin was the man until mid season last year. Even some before today’s game still didn’t believe in Barber. Go Bucs!

  8. MadMax Says:

Barber is our guy! Rojo will take over for Simms and improve, and Quiz will be our X factor do it all.

  9. FortMyersDave Says:

I agree with BucfanBF, Barber is a lot like Earnest Graham out of Cape Coral Mariner. However, the fact that Dirk simply refused to give this guy a chance last year is a big red flag for the coach and shows how either his loyalty to a player, stubbornness to admit a huge game costing error and/or simple ineptitude helped contribute to 5 dash 11 last season.

  10. Dave Says:

I’m sold after tonight too. He looked damn good

    ernest graham clone

  12. DB55 Says:

Idk I like his umf but idk in comparison to what I see around the league I’m not impressed. He played well but I’m not convinced that Detroit never made it off the plane but wtfdik

  13. SOEbuc Says:

I think Dirk and Smitty have realized a lot of the many mistakes they made last year and so far it looks like they’ve made some nice adjustments. Still need some more adjustments, but don’t think we’re gonna be 5-11 this year.

  14. firethecannons Says:

on board with this kid–he looked fast and big enough too

  15. Joel Says:

Had he stayed at Auburn another year, he would’ve been at least a 2nd rounder. Glad you clowns finally realized he’s the best back on our roster. I’ve been screaming this since last years training camp.

  16. SB Says:

The kid is Absolutely Sending it on every play!!!

  17. Godeep66 Says:

He reminds me of Cadillac Williams with a little more juke.

  18. Bird Says:

Hope left your reality a long time ago

    Bye bye

  19. Knucknbuc Says:

Who tf didn’t know barber was our best rn last year? Speak for yourself. Was never a Doug Martin fan even in his good year dude was inconsistent af. If they both stay healthy I guarantee pb has better stats then that bum dougillac Martin.

  20. Mike Says:

You morons are high of you think Doug Martin was lessnof a back when he was at his best-2nd leading rusher all pro

  21. dmatt Says:

This guy is a clone of Frank Gore.

  22. johnnybuc Says:

barber is on a whole different level than any other rb on this roster right now. it’s just obvious when watching all them run that there is something that clicks with barber. i’m sure if you asked the oline they’d want to give the ball to him 25 times a game because he makes them all look great
