I think Mike Smith is a terrible DC, but to panic over the opening series of game one of the preseason, you’re just a dope, the same dopes last preseason in game one that were saying Justin Evans was a bust after game 1 of the preseason. How can these coaches keep putting Ryan Smith out there. They literally just changed the call at the line to run a go route against him (drew the penalty). He can’t play bump and run, he cant play off. It’s not his fault he keeps finding the field though.

TBTeddy – Ryan Smith looked terrible in week 17 against the Saints, just as lost and out of place as he was in game 1 of last preseason against the Bengals when he was so bad they had him play the entire game and he was getting burned by the Bengals 3rd team players. He’s terrible. Just cut your loses and be done with the guy, hope someone in the NFC south signs him so we can play against twice a year.

Duthsty Rhothdes – Last year against Atlanta the Bucs are in the same situation, except it’s like 4th and 4 from the Falcons 40 – I yell, don’t punt the G-D ball, the defense is completely spent and they’re going to march straight down the field and get a TD – all of which is documented in the game thread… and the Falcons get the ball, march right down the field and score a TD.
Dirk also did the same thing, in the same situation, against the Pats and I do believe there was at least another game where he did the same and again gave up a TD when the defense was spent. Dirk has no balls, he clearly didn’t watch the SuperBowl, where the Eagles won the game going for it on 4th, well that and a blown call by the officials.
With all that said, it’s preseason, and it was like 4th and 14, so not saying he should go for it there, just pointing out Dirk LOVES to punt from the 40, no matter how much it hurts the team.

Buccaneer Bonzai – Urien was like a 3rd stringer in Chicago, and while I like Joe Dirt, I don’t actually think he’s much of an NFL player – he’s a guy I’d keep on practice for a couple of years and see where he is after that. Spence still could be an NFL talent, but he’s been so injury plagued it’s hard to say. Not panicking over game 1 of the preseason, but man, that d-line looked terrible on that play, they were pushed off the line without much trouble.

And last year, Jameis would have refused to run the clock out with a run at the end of the half. He would have called an audible for a passing play.

So far (first half): First team offense & defense looked pretty solid; second teams not-so-much. Fitz looked very ‘efficient’. Ryan Smith & Will Gholston not cutting it, but the 3 new rookies in Secondary are. Pass rush not nearly as dominant as I was hoping for.

My most fond memory of playing the Dolphins was in 1997, the Bucs play the Dolphins on a Sunday Night Football game on national TV, in front of a sellout in Tampa. Anyways the Bucs sold season tickets for $100, total, in this one wedge on the visitors side of the stadium, and the Dolphins still had Dan Mario and a huge travelling crowd. Anywho our section of Bucs fans were surrounded by Dolphins fans and the entire game it was a war in the stands, including everyone in our section lying about a Dolphins fan in our section starting a fight and getting him thrown out of the stadium. Anywho the entire game is yelling and taunting each other and late in the game Dunn has a long TD pass to put the game away, and in our section you literally see at least a hundred beers go flying into the Dolphins section, along with a bunch of chants about calls for immigration to check IDs. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had a game, it was really really rowdy. Although there was a Packers game later that year which is a close second…

Chandler Catanzaro missed a field goal in his first preseason game last year. Then he went 25 of 30 during the season.
He only had two XP attempts last preseason, and made both. Went on tto make them all in the season.
