Implosion Looming?

July 28th, 2018

A shrill voice from Los Angeles has added his name to the many who predict dire things from the Bucs this year.

That would be Colin Cowherd.

On his show, “The Herd,” seen and heard on FSI weekdays, Cowherd had a list of 10 teams that will be a dumpster fire this season.

He has the Bucs ranked No. 2 team. Why? You can guess why.

#BlameJameis.

“Listen, the kid is just not mature enough right now,” Cowherd said, adding if just about any other position player had Jameis’ off-field rap sheet, it really wouldn’t matter. “The fourth-best quarterback in the division usually means you have disarray coming now or very soon.”

Cowherd said Jameis is “nowhere near” as good as Cam Newton. Joe will dispute that. The only difference is, Newton finds ways to win.

Jameis missing the first three games is just so freaking damning, especially when those games involve the Saints, Eagles and Steelers. Since the NFL last realigned divisions, no team has started 0-3 and made the playoffs.

None. Zero percent. Nada.

Joe fears we will be talking draft before September has come to a close.

Hat tip: @zatchout.

We are going 4-12 or 10-6, I don’t see any in-between. It’s going to interesting fo sho.

    6-10

To all of the devoted and true Bucs fans that truly believe that having the Glazers keep Jameis Winston on this roster is an insult, an embarrassment and a big punch in the gut, I’m going to bring a little bit of Logic to this discussion; BE PATIENT.
The NFL statement on Winston’s suspension clearly stated that if he gets in trouble again and breaks the Code Of Conduct policy once more that he will be suspended indefinitely and we know what that means – Banned. And knowing Winston’s patterns of behavior, it will only be a matter of time before that happens again. Then at that point, he’s out of here. That takes the decision totally out of the Glazer’s hands and there’ s nothing they can do about it. Maybe at that time they will wake up and realize the mistake they made by drafting him to start with then covering for him and enabling him. The Bucs putting all of their eggs in that basket is very foolish.
So my fellow true and devoted Bucs fans, just BE PATIENT. The situation will eventually take care of itself.

  4. stpetebucsfan Says:

Well guys I know most of you feel the same way…we haven’t seen these guys on the field against other competition…no way to know how they will come together as a TEAM.

Many others have already stated that if BOTH our lines play above average and ROJO is the real deal…we are going to win not matter who or which combo of QB’s we play. And IMHO if both lines play top ten…the competition won’t matter with…we’ll win.

So I’d like to see the guys lineup for a few preseason games before I get a true feeling. On paper I like us a lot…on the field? I haven’t seen us on the field.

  5. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

BrianBucs: I like the way you think. Just hope we have a high enough draft pick to net a solid QB who’s also a solid citizen.

  6. Waterboy Says:

*clearly stated that if he gets in trouble again and breaks the Code Of Conduct policy once more that he will be suspended indefinitely*

The statement said that it could “potentially” lead to an indefinite suspension.

  7. Buc1987 Says:

“The fourth-best quarterback in the division usually means you have disarray coming now or very soon.”

Maybe the dumbest thing I’ve read in a loooooong time.

This team has been in disarray for a looooong time. I just had to read that first. No need to hear more negative prognostications from peeps that have to cover all 32 teams. Hell you could predict OUR team to be in disarray almost every freakin SEASON……….but….BUT…to this guy it’s all about JAMEIS! F….and U. smh.

“Some of us Buc fans are numb to any BS by now.” – Buc1987

  8. Pete I Says:

Well he’s not wrong. Newton finds ways to win – that’s a biggie Joe you have to admit.

  9. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

The bigger difference between JW and Cam is D – not that “Newton finds a way to win”. Cam has enjoyed a solid defense for years.

Last year we saw it over and over, if JW finds a way to put the team ahead, all that would happen is the other team would march down the field, almost unopposed, for the winning score.

  10. Buc1987 Says:

BrianBucs….does that mean you’re done whining about it?

  11. Kobe Faker Says:

“Oh Forrest, Forrest, wherefore art thou Gump?”

    Kobe Faker

  12. Pickgrin Says:

Wow – That’s some narrative you’ve dreamed up there Brian.

You – being such a hypocrite that you want the Bucs to get rid of the best QB in 42 years of team history – have somehow, narcissistically projected that into believing that “all of the devoted and true Bucs fans” want Winston gone as well.

  13. Dooshlarue Says:

…….. and I still feel more confident starting the season with Fitzpatrick.

  14. ben Says:

The best qb the bucs have ever had ..haaa ..Winston is only average after being picked 1st with all the weapons.. He is nothing special …so far.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

    Brian…just be a Carlson!

  16. Alanbucsfan Says:

Last year Cowherd picked the Bucs 8-8 and he had the Saints 6-10, last place
His predictions, like everyone else’s, means nothing

  17. Fartman Says:

Some would say, “finding a way to win”, is the most important attribute a QB could possess.

  18. Buc1987 Says:

“He is nothing special …so far.”

Yes ben I know….that’s probably why they’re keeping him around despite all the supposed horrible things he’s done off the field. cause he’s nothing special.

    Good point………

  19. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    What 1987 said….

  20. Walter Seidel Says:

BrianBucs, NEVER even suggest that Winston is the problem….unless you want Buc1987 and Pickgrin to call you a whiner, hypocrite, Carlson, narcissist, etc. That’s how they like to defend America’s SA.

  21. jmarkbuc Says:

He’s under contract, and he’s certainly not trade material. That’s why they’re “keeping him around”

  22. Buc1987 Says:

    jmarkbuc…you’re too easy.

    Two words.

    Josh Freeman.

  23. Buc1987 Says:

Walter …..I’ve been waiting for you.

I was waiting for you on Brent Grimes article seeing how you were a 12 year season ticket holder and all…right up until the 2015 draft that is.

Nowhere to be found you BIG Bucs fan you!

You forgot about GIRLS. I called you girls yesterday.

  24. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Brianbuc just waiting for people to fail in life. Should others be dangling that carrot over your head until fruition? Can’t wait for Jameis to come back and ball out! Go Bucs!

  25. WVBucfan Says:

Here the thing, most media haven’t even bothered to look at the details of what some intern has told them before they go on air. Most of them think that this happened last year, they don’t even know that it happened 2 years ago and that he’s already played all of last season and went through all of this off season….

  26. jmarkbuc Says:

    87

Schiano had balls enough…after trade attempts went no where.

  27. BrianBucs Says:

    1987

    Don’t know yet.
Are you done being a Winston fanboy, enabler and apologist?

  28. Not there yet Says:

    @BrianBucs

Devoted buc fan lol and you call that logic. So if he produces and we don’t have a high draft pick then what? Wait for a bad season again? haters talk as if there’s only one possible outcome? Something will happen again? Technically you’ve already been waiting 2.5 years, how much longer do you want the other haters to wait. Sure let’s hope for a victim for you to feel better and say I told you so but sorry to tell you he’s about to get married and has a kid. That fact alone has put him in provider mode. So all you can hope for is bad play of the field which if that’s your hope you’re no buc fan.

Still don’t get how everyone is more upset than the Uber driver who went as far as sending a text to her boss lol if Winston had been just another ordinary person like you, your Uber account would be deleted and you’d be driving Lyft that’s it. By that logic how upset could you say she really was? No charges no lawsuit court of public opinion is rough, didn’t know taking crab legs and jumping on the table shouting something obscene in college was criminal and made you a bad citizen. I mean I knew it was immature but wow lol unbelievable that he actually came into the NFL as a criminal and I thought I knew the law. As far as sexual assault case she got what she wanted which was money, guess the fact that there was more than one witness makes her worse than Winston but everyone wants to call her a victim even if her female friend said she lied

  29. BrianBucs Says:

    Walter

Lol, doesn’t matter. They are just FSU homers, Winston fanboys and not true Bucs fans. When Winston does finally leave here, their new favorite team will be the team that he then plays for so their fanboyism means nothing

  30. Tony LA Says:

    @BrianBucs

It must be wonderful going through life like that, assuming the worst in people and – even better – passive aggressively rooting for their demise. Good luck going through life like that.

You’re right – never in the history of human kind has a 22 year old made a HUGE mistake and overcome it. The 17th amendment of the U.S. Constitution clearly states that any errors made by anyone prior to their 23rd birthday results in a lifetime ban in ever changing or growing.

You’re right – no young idiot who made horrible decisions has ever gotten married, had kids, and then matured and course corrected his life. It’s literally never happened in the history of human kind.

It’s the exact reason WR Chris Carter flamed out after his second year in the league and never amounted to anything or ever made the Hall of Fame.

It’s why Randy Moss left the league after his mistakes in his first few years of his career and never made the Hall of Fame or became a very successful NFL analyst.

It’s why Big Ben never won a Super Bowl and was cut by the Steelers so early in his career.

It’s why Le’Veon Bell never learned to stop using marijuana and never had a complete good season and was out of the NFL at 23 years old.

It’s why Brett Favre never got past his addictions and was out of the NFL by 1995, never won a Super Bowl, or did anything of merit.

The list goes on and on. People are the exact people they will always be at 22. They will never change. Right?

@BrianBucs – go through life like you do. But know this – people who think like you do, and there are so many on this site, are in my humble opinion, the dead weight of our society. My fear is that the only thing that may truly never change – is your way of thinking.

    Go Bucs.

  31. BrianBucs Says:

    Not there

Brother you really need to go back and check and recheck your facts.
Thanks for the trip through Fantasyland though, lol

  32. BrianBucs Says:

    Tony

    Just watch and wait.

  33. Not there yet Says:

Yep brianbucs maybe I will but probably not because if your already checked and rechecked the “facts” from a case with no convictions from like 4 years, no wonder you are being called a hater so often.

they’re seems to be 3 factions

the haters (those with more facts than the rest of the world, want Winston gone regardless of whether it hurts the team or not)

The enablers (who acknowledge the issue but thinks it’s time to move on)

Then there the true bucs fans like me (we want to see the bucs win and don’t care about guilt or innocence of one player)

  34. Buc1987 Says:

    Brian’s RIGHT.

    Let it play out.

If you think you’re not happy with Winston, imagine the Glazers.

jmark….you basically are saying the same thing about Freeman as you are about Winston…can’t be traded???…..yet they let him walk with what like 8 million to go away.

This happened Walter….so pay attention…..you too Brian.

  35. Buc1987 Says:

Brian checked the boxes in 2014!

  36. fritz50 Says:

    “Walter

Lol, doesn’t matter. They are just FSU homers, Winston fanboys and not true Bucs fans. When Winston does finally leave here, their new favorite team will be the team that he then plays for so their fanboyism means nothing”

Sorry dude, not an FSU “fanboy” , or even fan. Also, if he fails, I’ll still be a Bucs fan, and move on with the team. That said, I’m with Tony LA in hoping he does work his way out of this. I, personally, think it’s a decent shot, based on the time that’s passed and the total lack of serious issues is that period. No I don’t see the ‘school talk’ as serious. Having had to overcome a fear of public speaking to do 5 presentations during a series of professional seminar, I know how easy it is to make a totally stupid and moronic statement that no regret in the next instant.

  37. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Pickgrin fails to see the irony in talking about Brian being a narcissist when defending JW. Take your fan glasses off man. Or don’t. JW will take them off for you in due time. Your just not there yet apparently. I went to FSU and have been a Bucs fan since ’96 and was a JW supporter through everything until this latest. No longer. Wish the bucs had the bawls to cut him, but they’re taking the slow destruction option.

  38. fritz50 Says:

    Stooopid auto-correction…NOT that no reagent… but…that I regret…sorry

  39. BrianBucs Says:

Like I said, just everybody BE PATIENT

  40. Buc1987 Says:

JBF has always been a place where us FANS can come to to read great articles then get riled up and argue with eachother in the comment section about what’s good for OUR team.

Pickgrin, I and MANY other fans still think Jameis Winston is what’s good for our team. We’ll defend him or whatever to any extent we see fit. He’s on a short leash with everyone….including me. We’re NOT immoral people.

My wife sits here with a Jameis Winston jersey on…..while I defend him on JBF with GUYS about something he did that was creepy 2 years ago and then lied about certain things. SHE watched his apology TOO!

  41. Anonymous Says:

    87

In all reality, it is too soon to know what team Glazer is gonna do. The fact that “The face of the franchise” had his face removed from the Franchises building says plenty.

I stand by my statement that JW is not tradeable, at least at the moment. So at this point he is under contract, and it’s July, so there is no reason to do anything with him at the moment.

As far as Freeman goes, while I believe that both he and JW are head cases, I will say I believe JW loves football, Freeman not so much. He wasn’t Schiano’s pick for QB, which made it easier for Schiano to run him. Licht’s reputation can’t take another hit for high profile failed picks ( Aguayo), especially an overall number 1 QB.

I’m a Buc fan, so I hope JW can turn his life and career around. That doesn’t make Brian Buc wrong. The onus is squarely on JW not to screw up again. At this point, I wouldn’t want to guess what the over/ under on that is.

  42. Walter Seidel Says:

Buc1987…..have you seriously regressed in your inability to make a cogent argument to the point of shouting “GIRL!!”?? LOL. See, I don’t have to do any name calling……you do enough self-inflicted dummy-damage by yourself.

  43. Buc1987 Says:

Walter…when all this blows over or Jameis is gone…you can then head back over to the Huffington Post where you belong.

  44. Buc1987 Says:

Anonymous…dude peeps have mentioned Bridgewater….Foles. There’s options. If they want to win there’s options. It’s NOT mid-season. Now would be the perfect time to not throw away the season. You make good points as I agree they are seeing how everything goes including…on the field.

As for the cut him crowd.

    Let Jameis walk.

Let Jameis go. We’ll sit and wait for another franchise QB…cause they grow on trees these days. NO….NO they don’t. See 1987. That’s how long I’ve waited for a Jameis Winston. I don’t care who YOU are on the other end of this screen.

I put things on a scale like most people when I think about crap like this. The creepy Uber ride on one side and then everything else he’s done since then on the other. I guess some peeps have HAD enough. So they come here to BLAST it daily. EVEN ….shame us and Joe like Walter and Pete do.

  45. Buccernutter Says:

Yes bucs fans just be patient. Jameis will be off the team soon enough. Hang in there.

Only about roughly 12 more years.

  46. Jmarkbuc Says:

This anonymous= Jmarkbuc. Forgot to fill in the username.

For me, at the end of the day I believe that as football fans you are really supporting the uniform. The players come and go. That being said, the Uniforms are God awful, and the organization has been pretty much crap since Malcolm died. That makes it even more difficult to be a Buc fan.

On JW. Clearly he has supporters, but my opinion is that he is the stereotypical coddled athlete. His press conferences sound like every sports cliche ever spoken, all rolled into one. I do not believe he is genuine, he says what he thinks people want to hear, with the occasional W’s speech which no one wants to hear. The issues with women are very serious, especially nowadays.

The thing that really riles me is when people say he’s the best QB we’ve ever had. First of all that ain’t saying much, and second it always looks to me like he’s playing sandlot football on an intramural field. Like the play against Chicago to Mike Evans. I’m glad he completed it, but it was dumb luck. It’s not Brady or Rogers by any stretch. Hell, it’s not even Brad Johnson. You never worried about Brad doing something stupid.

They should have put “The Crucible” on the t- shirts. That’s exactly what this season is for the entire organization. Sad. I keep hoping one year will be about football.

  47. BrianBucs Says:

Something that is really a shame is that for we Florida pro football fans, none of our state teams actually have true, championship calibre franchise QB. Sad.

  48. ben Says:

Winston can’t even get a job at Publix…cut him!

  49. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    1987…I’m like your wife….I sport a #3 jersey…

For me…I really like the kid and I have supervised young people most of my life and watched them mature. I am 64 years old and have seen a lot of people stigmatized because they act and respond differently then how some expect!

I am in JW’s corner for more reasons than one, but being a female myself with daughters and granddaughters and the ability to READ and THINK for myself…my life experiences tell me JW
is like a few before him…the media may destroy him and yes he has done some youthful crap…but by and large not the most heinious stuff he has been accused of…

  50. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Let me see Publix vs NFL…and has already earned a few million dollars and probably act!

  51. Buc1987 Says:

jmark…it depends on the QB you’re looking for I guess.

You want Brad Johnson types of QB’s who in 2003 threw 21 INT’s to 26 TD’s.

Crap happens either way and that Brad went 7-9.

  52. jmarkbuc Says:

Guess I’ll always be a “Buc Ball” kind of guy.. Win 13-10 with fierce, withering Defense, in spite of the offense.

Only problem there is, after our glory Defenses ( and Baltimore”s) the Shield changed rules to prevent those type of defenses from being successful.

  53. Walter Seidel Says:

Huffington Post? Hell, it’s right HERE where if you ruled the world, Buc1987, differing opinions are not allowed!!

  54. Sumo Says:

OMG you guys are pathetic. We are starting a brand new season and we got the Bucs dead already. Get a grip and wait for the season to play out. Defense is greatly improved and that is going to carry us while the offense cranks along. BE POSITIVE!

  55. Trench War Says:

    8-8

  56. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

“Jameis missing the first three games is just so freaking damning, especially when those games involve the Saints, Eagles and Steelers. Since the NFL last realigned divisions, no team has started 0-3 and made the playoffs.”

Way to assume the worst, that we’ll lose all three!

  57. BigMacAttack Says:

To anyone who uses the term “true Bucs’ fan”: Please print that in a size 48 font and shove it up yer azz. All up in yer azz.

  58. BigMacAttack Says:

Jmarkbuc, 100% with you on that. I miss Buc ball and love a 13-10 win. Yes!

  59. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

@ Anonymous – Joe would have you believe that only JW was removed from the stadium poster. There are no players currently on the stadium.

  60. Eric Says:

I’m curious, does Winston stuff cat nip in his underwear? That would explain why he attracts so many pu$$ies!

  61. silencethefans Says:

Why is it that people get treated badly for not wanting Winston to be on our team?

  62. Buccernutter Says:

Because the people that don’t want Jameis are the ones treating others the worst.

  63. Buc1987 Says:

    BigMac…lol

  64. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

BrianBucs I got two words for you. Please tell me if you can count them. SHUT UP and stop rooting for the Bucs. Him being the qb on our team is no more embarrassing than all the losing that was done by it before he got here. Someone needs to tell you that you are embarrassment as a man and a Buc fan. Oh wait a minute I just did!

  65. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Brian and Walter please be patient and hold your breaths and each other until Jameis leaves the Bucs. Just take selfies of all the different colors you turn into along the way and post them.

  66. jmarkbuc Says:

    Well isn’t that convenient….

  67. Walter Seidel Says:
