Evans Has Jameis’ Back

It really is no surprise to Joe that Bucs players are sticking up for their quarterback, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.
Nor is it a surprise Bucs players — all of them just about — will be asked about Jameis’ three-game sentence by NFL strongman Roger Goodell to start the season. It is easily the story of training camp and maybe the story of the 2018 season, especially if the Bucs stumble to start the season, especially if the Bucs miss a winning season or (worse) a playoff berth by a couple of games.
Evans tried to down play the suspension this afternoon.
“I don’t think it will have any effect at all,” Evans said. “That’s my boy. That’s one of my best friends. Obviously I was hurt by it. We’ve been going to war together for three years, four years now.
“He will miss three games. That’s it. Stuff happens.”
Evans wouldn’t comment on the incident because he said, he wasn’t there. Evans did seem to indicate Jameis has put this behind him as best as can be expected.
“He has taken it well,” Evans said. “I look forward to having him back early in the season.”
Will there be a season to come back to?
Remember, only 2.9 percent of teams since 1980, which started 0-3, have reached the playoffs. And that’s ignoring that the Bucs play in arguably the strongest division in the NFL.
That stat also doesn’t factor in the Bucs are believed to have the strongest strength of schedule in the games Jameis will miss (at New Orleans, hosting the Eagles and Steelers) in the Super Bowl era.

Fitz goes 1-2 Groper goes 8-5. Takes first half of the year for defense to gel and Winston to get chemistry back, Bucs make a second half run that falls short and end up at 9-7.

What’s any Bucs player supposed to say, can we just move on already, Bucs fans only have training camp and the first half of the first game to get excited about this season, after that it’s hot seat talk, 2019 draft, next GM/headcoach analysis, which will probably start by halftime of the Saints game

True fans, if you’re out there, we should be expecting 3-0 NOT 0-3 and it’s not because of ONE player either. In reality, 1-0 is what we should be focused on, first and foremost.
Until and WHEN Jameis gets back, I expect nothing less than winning football. Anything short of the playoffs is an epic FAIL!
