“Doesn’t Look Bad”

Early prognosis. (Photo courtesy of Buccaneers.com.)

Joe could almost hear a collective gasp from Bucs types yesterday when first-round pick defensive tackle monster Vita Vea went to the ground and he didn’t even try to bounce back up and play.

Joe saw him slowly walk to the sidelines and later, Joe learned he was carted from the sidelines to head inside One Buc Palace. The word “cart” in the NFL is the ultimate four-letter word. Teams don’t bring those out for an ingrown toenail.

Though it is still unknown what specific type of injury Vea suffered, it is believed to be a calf injury. The ubiquitous NFL insider Adam Schefter of BSPN has early word from the Bucs it may not be a serious injury.

Of course, we won’t know for sure until later today at the earliest and likely not until Tuesday. The team is off today and there is no media availability.

But when Joe heard the word “cart” used, Joe wondered if we had seen Vea for the final time in 2018. Right now that seems unlikely.

    Whew. Crisis averted!

  4. Defense Rules Says:

Aaah yes, keep the positive thoughts coming Joe. Negativity throws all the JBFers into a panic. Do NOT want to see Vita end up traveling the same road Stevie T did last year.

  5. Stanglassman Says:

Any news on Leonard Wester injury?

VV injury is reported as just a calf strain.

  6. Leighroy Says:

A source is a source, of course of course!!

  7. feelthepewterpower Says:

Buccs need to get on a magnesium regimen to reduce and elominate a lot of the soft tissue injuries (strains, pulls, cramps, tears, spasm, lactic acid build-up, etc. al).

  8. feelthepewterpower Says:

The Gatorade doesn’t help in my opinion because of the sugar content and sodium in which is acidic and leads to muscle weakness.

So far Carolina’s injury is the worst so far this season. Hate to see it but it will help our D-line.

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

Get well and rub some dirt on it!

  11. Buddy Says:

2 things first off, yesterday I saw a commenter using my same handle. (Not that any one cares butt that buddy doesn’t seem to be a fan of the team. I didn’t realize that a handle could be highjacked!

Well I am a fan! If you see the same handle and it’s a hater, it’s not me!

    Secondly, what happened to Carolina?

  12. Godeep66 Says:

Glad to hear that is nothing major!!!

    Let’s go Bucs!!!!!!

  13. 813bucboi Says:

    just hope it doesn’t linger…….

Ha! Remember in high school coaches had us eat those salt pills like M&Ms during two-a-days (remember those?). School bought those in huge 1,000-count plastic bottles.

  15. Mike Johnson Says:

I would like to see Veta get his official playing weight down somewheres between
310 to 325. Yes he’s young and strong and that alone will carry him thru his 1st couple of yrs. But in this heat, Its gonna slow him down a tad. Word is, he’s quick. I just think losing 25 to 30 of that lowere 300 will do his body good.

  16. D1 Says:

    Joe,

Yes, still remember that taste. And the “don’t swallow the water, spit it out.”

    Feelthepewter,

First, it’s the miracle of magnesium. Today, Gatorade weakening muscles because it’s acidic.

Lol……… snake oil and tonics ….

  17. SOEbuc Says:

What’s the risk in making him walk instead of driving in training camp? Especially if it’s a tear to continue to walk on.
