“Famous Athletes Are And Can Be Targets”

June 28th, 2018

Sounds off on America.

We may never know.

In a way, Max Kellerman almost seems sorry for America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. You don’t know; Joe doesn’t know what the hell happened concerning this hassle with an Uber driver in Arizona that Jameis went through.

There are only two people who know exactly what happened in that fateful Uber ride. Jameis could be innocent as an angel or guilty as sin. It is a he-said/she-said deal.

In a recent edition of BSPN’s “First Take,” Kellerman, a co-host along with Screamin’ Stephen A. Smith, seems to be leaning that Jameis was set up. However, as Kellerman explains, with Jameis’ dicey history at Florida State, he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt.

“Famous athletes are and can be targets and can be accused of things they haven’t done,” Kellerman said. “And so the accusation alone shouldn’t be enough. But, when you have the past Jameis does and you are accused, that’s a little different.

“And you know what? Whether you did anything, you have to accept responsibility that your past behavior has left you vulnerable to accusations.”

That is fair and Joe cannot argue with that. Also appearing in the video (which can be viewed below) is former NFL suit and BSPN talking head Louis Riddick, who said he’s getting tired of talking about Jameis for all the wrong reasons. He stopped just short of saying if he was in the shoes of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, he just might wash his hands of Jameis.

Aren’t all of us Bucs fans weary of Jameis? If you wanna get backt o football, get rid of him, because you KNOW if you keep him, one day we’ll have to go down this sordid path once again. The past is real. Predictability is real.

  2. Walter Seidel Says:

And speaking of weary……..”America’s QB” is such a joke. It’s fodder for laughter, especially in other NFL cities. Almost like “eating W’s” silly.

  3. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

I’m pretty ready for a QB who’s actions don’t need a team of PR people to continuously and repeatedly explain away vague and creepy allegations of sexual predation.

  4. Bucsfanman Says:

Sure, athletes CAN be targets. The issue I take with that statement, however, is how many other athletes are out these that you never hear of doing dumb crap? The vast majority, I’d wager. I think we need to walk this back before we claim “victim” here.

  5. meh Says:

Innocent people don’t lie about their alibi.

  6. Jim Says:

    All of the above…

  7. Buc believer Says:

@Meh…. and true “victims” don’t go and hire a lawyer BEFORE filing any police report either…. oh wait NO police report was even filed.

  8. The Buc Realist Says:

It is starting to sound like Jason Licht’s Shoes will soon be available!!!!!!!!!

    @Joe
can we get a list of up in coming GM’s that will be available for 2019????????

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The Uber driver didn’t hire a lawyer until the incident was made public by Buzzfeed…..almost a year and a half after the incident…..she didn’t file a police report….she didn’t’ file a civil suit. She only reported it to her employer.

I don’t know about you but that doesn’t sound like the action of a false accusation looking for financial gain to me. It seems credible.

And….FYI the attorney retained was the same one from the Winston college incident…..looks like he reached out to her not vice-versa. (this we don’t know)

But the article is 100 % on target……you could have predicted this would happen.

Jameis absolutely can never be alone with another female other than his mother or wife.

  10. JMan 5 Says:

Well at least Jameis went to the playoffs unlike MM … oh wait. J rob should have been the GM here

  11. Phil Says:

The NFL needs to get out of the police business and let the police do their job. We don’t care what players do when they aren’t playing. We only care about if they can play football. What they do the rest of the time I could care less. If a player isn’t locked up he should be able to play period.

  12. VA Tom Says:

Jameis problem appears to be booze related. I’d bet dollar to donughts that besides “idiot friends” it’s the common thread. He’s a Jekyll/Hyde around the sauce. I mean the dudes a veritable preacher around the community in the daylight and he’s a menace to he ladys when he’s soused up. Stay away from the booze dude. “AA”-merica needs to be Jameis’s moniker.

  13. JMan 5 Says:

I feel bad for his fiancé.

  14. tval Says:

his “sordid” history of click bait HATERS, AND PROVEN LIARS(ERICA KINSMANN) targeting him, like, James Harrison? What “negative history”? Nonsense for bspn fanboys, at best. Get a life, Walter..lmao!!!

  15. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Joe

New game for your next podcast!!!!!!!!!! Jw3, Uber ride or game stats!!!!!!!

drives for 270 yards, gets a personal foul, and still does not score?????????

    #full house cleaning

  16. tval Says:

Better than Mariota…can’t finish a season when available. And foles is going NOWHERE. you may get a shot at wentz first..and put him behind that trash oline, run game, defense, and WATCH the disaster unfold…lmao! Relativity is lost on fanboy dummies

  17. Not there yet Says:

If you don’t like Winston as the quarterback go find another team. There is no reason to get rid of him this year and even if the allegations are true it was 2 years ago not pay week. Some of you are idiots. This is football league not the moral league. None of you called for big Ben’s job because you don’t care about that team. If you’re a buc fan your a fan even with Winston, Josh Freeman, asj, Kellen Winslow and so on. Get a grip and STFU no one is listening.

  18. Kirk Says:

    Dump Winston, hire Kapernick!

  19. ben Says:

being a bucs fan and season tkt holder for years… Winston should NOT be the face of the team because it is embarrassing to the local fans .Bucs get nothing but bad publicity nationally .

  20. SteelStudBuc Says:

Stop calling him America’s Quarterback. It’s like spitting in our faces.

  21. Gambelero Says:

I guess everyone thinks first tier QBs grow on trees. Anyone who has actually seen Jameis play the last three years can see that he’s poised for greatness. No running game, the worst defense in the league and an offensive line that has him running for his life, gets him hurt and then re-hurt and is uncannily good at getting holding penalties that wipe out big plays combine to leave the casual viewer unimpressed. It’s not clear that any of Prescott, Mariota, Carr, Luck, Goff or any of the 5 first rounders this year are going to pan out. Odds are 2-3 of 10 go on to be top tier (top six) or second tier (7-12). Watson and Wentz look like sure things now, but will they be the same post injury? Can they stay healthy?

And what did teams like the Rams, Bills and Jets give up to get a maybe QB, one that sat (Goff) or will sit for most of at least one season? How long would it take to get back to where we are now where we have a QB that needs to improve, but looks like our franchise guy for years to come? If we start the tank job this year, what is the chance we can out-tank teams that starting gutting their rosters several years in advance? Will there even be a top tier NFL QB in the draft next year? Will we have to sell our future to go from 5->2 or 4->1?

  22. GorrillaBuc Says:

Not there yet and Gambelero well said these guys don’t think.

  23. tval Says:

[Sorry, Joe doesn’t need the Secret Service coming after him because you believe our 45th president is a deviate felon. Tread carefully. — Joe]

  24. tval Says:

America’s backup will do fine, “steelstud”???? I have questions..lol!!!!!!!

  25. tval Says:

Throw wentz in there gambelero…from the BIGGEST EAGLE FAN..he did NOTHING without the best run game, defense, and play calling..throw in Alshon and forget it…foles PROVED how replaceable he was…period..wentz has “NEVER WON A PLAYOFF GAME” EITHER,(so Marcus is better around here LMAO!!!!) and the injury history, LIKE MARIOTA, is of rg3esque concern…FACT!

  26. passthebuc Says:

    Joe.

It sounds like the Bucs or Jameis is paying you to write his BIO

  27. 813bucboi Says:

look, I like Winston and sure athletes can be targets…..but normally when they are targeted from a woman, that woman is looking to get pregnant….that’s where the money is…..18years of child support…..

like Max said, he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt because of his past……also, he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt because he was intoxicated…..it may have been a different story if both were at the party drunk but it didn’t go down like that…..Winston was drunk….she was working….

im getting tired of talking about Winston as well….not enough wins for all this drama…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  28. SB Says:

    “AA”merica’s QB

    Rimshot!!!

  29. John F. Ensch Says:

I am sick of hearing the media beat this Jameis thing to death. I know it’s news ,
but it is being over written about and debated to death. Let the season play out and Jameis life play out without the constant debate. No one knows how this will affect the Bucs season good or bad. If it’s true than I’m sure that ownership will take the appropriate actions when the time comes, not when the media decides, but when they the owners decide.

  30. Maze Says:

That race baiting douche Smith also thinks the Glazers are the most racist ownership group in the NFL. Anybody that takes his word is a fool

  31. Joe Says:

That race baiting douche Smith also thinks the Glazers are the most racist ownership group in the NFL. Anybody that takes his word is a fool

Same owners that in the past 20 years have had four black starting quarterbacks and three black head coaches? Or is SAS suggesting Team Glazer has a hangup over Latinos?

  32. Maze Says:

Feel sorry for all women that come in contact with a fool like Phil. Clown

  33. Maze Says:

Can’t believe that retard above just backed Josh Freeman. losers love losers

  34. unbelievable Says:

    Tbbf- that’s spot on.

Tval- you should know you can’t write bad things about the orange savior on here. You’re only allowed to talk ish and make up BS about the other side.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Most Tampa fans are idiots.

  36. Joe Says:

Tval- you should know you can’t write bad things about the orange savior on here.

BS! First, you didn’t see what he wrote. Does the term “slander” mean anything to you?

Of course, you can laugh all you want. It would have been Joe’s arse that would have to deal with the Secret Service, lawyers and possibly lose his business. And yeah, Joe knows people that had an unannounced visit from the Secret Service and how much fun that was.

  37. firethecannons Says:

Going forward Jameis needs a body guard 24/7 till he is no longer in NFL to provide witness for him and security as needed. Never alone with any woman anywhere ever, guard can be there all the time.
Saying all this–I watched the 3rd episode hard knocks for first time last night as I taped it, Jameis should be on borrowed time. I have come full circle as i used to be a big supporter. The play that changed it for me:
In preseason which at the time seems just as important to players and coaches as a real game. Jameis is getting sacked and is almost on ground and has no ability to see any open receivers anywhere and he throws it 20 yards into the endzone to a group of Jaguars who pik it off. He gets his ass chewed out by Coach Koetter on tv. The season later happens and how many times did he do the same move?
As soon as possible–like next draft or even 2020 if draft is better we need to trade him.Make him behave by use of bodyguard and hope to get a first rounder for him.At least Glazers will not have to waste very big money on this dude.

  38. Duke Says:

    TVal,

The proclamation that Wentz did nothing and was easily replaced by foles is
interesting to say the least. What exactly do you watch when making such a statement? Wins and Loses is one and you’re right about that aspect. But I have
to believe that you view it first as a fan. No issues there. But that view point seldom is accurate. As is your utterly uninsightful and rather foolish comments.

There’s a lot of angles to approach the topic because you made a few completely separate items into a single statement. If you can not see the different issues and separate them into a more detailed or informative perspective then it is apparent that the fan part is leading the opinion.

  39. superslacker Says:

Jameis did it just like Trump colluded with Russia. In both cases, there’s so much smoke that you’d have to suspend all faculties of reason to not believe it.

  40. superslacker Says:

Jameis did it just like King Cheeto colluded with Russia. In both cases, there’s so much smoke that you’d have to suspend all faculties of reason to not believe it.

  41. RickinFtMyers Says:

If he’s really innocent, Jameis Winston screwed up by using a pop transportation service noted more for its lower prices and in this instance poor management instead of a bona fide taxi. Most big city taxis don’t let you sit in the front seat and you’re separated from the driver by a plexiglass partition to protect the driver, which in this case would have protected Winston as well. Sure a taxi is more expensive than a pop transportation service and likely would have required a longer wait, but with the money Winston makes what’s a cab fare to avoid this nonsense as well as waiting a few minutes longer since he was recreating anyway. A poor choice by Winston, again.

ONE MORE CHANCE, then sing the old Buccaneers song….into the Tampa Bay
