“The Buccaneers Are In Big Trouble”

June 29th, 2018

Has team in a pinch. A national NFL voice explains.

With jobs on the line, the Bucs need to at worst get one win in their first three games to make a playoff run.

Instead, opening the schedule with the toughest first three games in the Super Bowl era, the Bucs will have to navigate those games without their franchise quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, over his dumb decision to (allegedly) get handsy with an Uber driver.

And because of his selfishness, prickly Pete Prisco of CBS Sports believes many a man with the Bucs could be using a moving service come January.

“The Buccaneers are in big trouble,” Prisco said. “This is an organization from top to bottom, general manager, head coach — that’s Jason Licht and Dirk Koetter and a bunch of their staff — they are on the final year of their contract. They have to win.

“And so, this is not a good way to go into a season when you have to win. I think they made a lot of good moves in the offseason. I think they have amped up their defense to the point where I thought they were going to compete in the division.

“But you go three games without Jameis Winston … that’s a tough road with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. That has to be very concerning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”

As Joe stated on a recent edition of the “Ira Kaufman Podcast” the Bucs defense, specifically the defensive line, has to play dominant for the Bucs to steal a win.

Can a defensive line go from an embarrassing 22 sacks to dominant virtually overnight?

    Yep….cut the cancer….

  2. Pete I Says:

Meh, we were just as likely to go 0-3 with America’s Choir Boy, the one who touches women inappropriately, drinks to much and lies about it, as we were with Fitz Fitz, who does suck, at least doesn’t turn the ball over as much as America’s Choir Boy. And no the D-Line won’t suddenly be good overnight, they might be better but that bar is quite low.

  3. Walter Says:

    America’s Sex Offender*

Just one more season and then he’ll be somebody else’s problem, can’t wait. Then we can get a QB in here who doesn’t turn the ball over 20 times per season.

    Oh, one more thing:

Josh Freeman’s 2010 > Any of Jameis’ seasons

  4. Walter Says:

    America’s Sex Offender*

Just one more season to go and then we can wash our hands of him. Maybe the next quarterback we draft won’t turn the ball over 20 times per season.

    Also:

Josh Freeman’s 2010 > Any of Jameis’ seasons

  5. J 2.0 Says:

Fitz-Magic went 2-1 last year. Fitz-Magic gonna go 2-1 this year.

  7. Robert Says:

the bucs will be fine. fitz starting is the best news of the offseason

  8. Walter Says:

Josh Freeman’s 2010 > Any of Jameis’ seasons

  9. Robert Says:

the only offensive player probably not happy is mike evans, the rest are probably more motivated than ever.

gradkowski could win with these weapons!

  10. Pete I Says:

Well he did go 2-1 winning against the Jets and Miami. Still that is better than nothing. these 3 games however, are not the Jets and the Jay cutler led Phins.

  11. TheDailyCoroner Says:

This is a great opportunity for Licht and Koetter to show their true value to the franchise.
The Eagles won the Super Bowl with a backup because they had crafted a good team on both sides of the ball. Now it is the Jason and Dirk Show’s time to show case their abilities at finally signing some very good 20’s players instead of the previously signed larcenous, old sloths.
Jameis, indeed all of us, need to be shown it is really a team sport and J and D have done their jobs.

  12. ShutTheBucUp Says:

I really think fitz is going surprise the hell out of a lot of people. Our offense is LOADED. We just need a capable field general/ game manager to direct this beautiful buccaneer symphony. One thing about JW is that he got locked in on ME13 wayyyyy too often. Fitz will go for the open guy. I think him and Chris GODWIN have good chemistry. Training camp should be fun lol.

I’m so depressed and let down by Jameis, i’m just trying to look for positives.

  13. Walter Says:

    Freeman’s 2010 > Any of Jameis’ seasons

  14. Trench War Says:

Honestly, at this point, I think Glennon would come in here and give us as good a chance to win as Jameis has. If we surrounded Glennon with all the same talent that Jameis has gotten, I think he could do just as good as Jameis if not better.

  15. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

Hell I say get the other Ryan ready. Looked good coming out of Tulane. I actually think he could hit those deep balls to DJ & ME

  16. tval Says:

You have questions to answer, Pete, before ANYONE takes you remotely seriously…lol!!!! STOP EMBARRASSING YOURSELF, BUDDY NOW WATCH PETE DISAPPEAR, LIKE, ERICQ KINSMANNS 1ST 6 STORIES!!! Hahahaaaa!! Poof, hater

will take a little self evaluating test and stand in the mirror, be real and honest about your growing pains, cause you NEVER got wasted, never spanked a female, never misread a female or did the “sow your wild oats thing” oh of course not!

Because you are also not a generous person, with a generous heart and only can “protest and advocate against someone, who may not be perfect but gives a lot!

Jameis biggest fault is being too NAIVE, TRUSTING TO A FAULT and VULNERABLE as h3ll!

  18. TakeYourVitaMen Says:

cut him, or stash him. Don’t let this goon play until he proves himself. Playing this sport for a living is a privilege. He should treat it as so. If he was serious, he’d be giving the bucs hourly check-ins. Imagine if this dude had to have a real job and be on call 24/7. I doubt he could handle it, yet he makes more money than someone who IS on call 24/7 might see in a lifetime. HOW DO THESE GUYS GET MULTIPLE CHANCES. WHAT DIRT MAY PLAYERS HAVE ON THE NFL? How can i as a lifelong fan support a team or a league that babies millionaires.

This crap makes me sick. People struggling to eat while these goons get away with almost anything.

You really think this was his first time since being a Buc, that he was completely WASTED in public? It’s all about mentality. This kid doesn’t have the mental or testicular fortitude to get his butt straightened out.

Cut ties, or stash and trade after rehabilitation.

    What a crock

  20. tickrdr Says:

    18.96 ppg for 2017.
3-10 in 2017, and 18-27 for his three year career.

I know I am sick, but I keep seeing this amusing scenario in my mind. In his first preseason game, Jameis gathers the team around for the pre-game hype. He curls the fingers of his left hand into a big C. Then, he lays the index finger of his right hand on top of his left thumb. “See that. That’s a G! I’m gonna eat three games!” Nomm, Nomm, Nommm.

    tickrdr

  21. Robert Says:

I stated before the bomb dropped that they should play fitz all through preseason….

    right again.

and I sowed more oates than most posters on here combined, never did I get accused of anything. I even led with “you wanna f&$*” a time or two. slapped once, laid once………never did I come close to what he is accused. I am on no moral high ground……i lived hard, and thats why I aint buying his excuses

  22. stpetebucsfan Says:

“Jameis biggest fault is being too NAIVE, TRUSTING TO A FAULT and VULNERABLE as h3ll!”

Wow just wow! Alternate facts strike again!!! So being out at 3AM with a convicted rapist and a guy with a horrible rep who coincidentally was Jameis witness in his last scrape…two in a row now. And so getting so hammered you use the defense you blacked out is Naive and trusting at his age and life experince or just a total betrayal of his teammates who will at minimum go three games without their “leader”. And it’s not over crotch grabbing!!!!

It’s over getting so hammered in the company of two of the shadiest guys you could find and betraying EVERYBODY. His teammates…his coaches who may very well have careers in jeopardy.

Now when I used to debate 87 about picking Jameis first we’d get down to all the FSU incidents…crab legs…no big deal he thought he was getting comped as usual..bb guns…kids playing…because of the Forrest Gump level of stupidity I had trouble getting past the jumping up in front of a large crowd and yelling FHITP. And so I rooted for us to draft Jameis because 87 convinced me they were all just youthful mistakes and the Kinsman thing didn’t really happen.

So I got past that but not this. Enough is enough. Two questions jump out.

    1) Are the Bucs and #3 able to get past the distraction and rightly or wrongly
but certainly the PR nightmare that ensues. If 50% or more want him gone what happens. Yeah I know it’s not a pure democracy but the Glazers are going to measure all the factors.

2.) If you answere yes to number one…this will all blow over and Jameis will survive. Do you really trust this man who cares little about teammates and coaches?

  23. Jameis's Uber Driver Says:

Jameis is gods gift to the earth and the Bucs should be thankful he’s on the team…. U MAD?

  24. jjuice 32 Says:

You are right, so tired of media, posters, and posers acting like he committed some type of horrible crime. Be real he grazed a puss over pants WOW big deal, get real. These people must all be so perfect and have never fd up. Riiiggghhhtt!

  25. Steven007 Says:

How many versions of the same exact story are we going to see? Different talking heads, same Shiiite. We get it, tough sledding ahead, add other metaphors, blah, blah, rinse, repeat.

  26. Lord Cornelius Says:

    Well… Yeah.

  27. BrianBucs Says:

The Bucs have a HUGE cancer on their roster and his name is Jameis Winston.
Bucs drafted a young man with lots of red flags and now it has come back to haunt them. Time to cut your loses, learn from your mistake and move on

  28. Jameis's Uber Driver Says:

[Might want to calm down. — Joe]

  29. Sc Bucs fan Says:

I wonder how many of these posters standing up for JW would be OK if 6 a foot 4 235 pound black man put his hand between their daughters or wife’s legs while she was alone in her car and he was blackout drunk. And his response was “no fear”. I’m not saying you should cut him but anyone who stands up for wha he did is clueless. Clueless. That’s Americas Quarterback.

  30. Terry Lee Bateson II Says:

Look, some people may not like this suggestion, but how about going out and getting coln kapnick hes been to a super bowl, and he knows what it takes, other than his kneeling for the flag, He’s a good quarter back and with all this talent on offense we could light up the score board with him behind center!

  31. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Banks had not been convicted then nor was HE Jameis’s friend from my understanding he is Darby’s friend and Darby invited him!

And he is losing 3 games salary, suspension and the humiliation. I am so glad the sports channel is reporting on other misconducts Ben in 2010, 4 game suspension, Brady 4 game,
    Elliott 6 games…Jameis 3 GAMES…go figure!

And Jameis is the least popular out of the 4 players!

Well it is for sure The Bucs will get more attention now, by people who want to see how the Bucs will hold up or fall down!

  32. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    Call me clueless! Signed METOO!

  33. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

We heard ya the first time, Walter.

  34. Jeffbuc Says:

    I’m with jjuice 32
Everyone is making this some huge deal. Like he forced himself on a women. He was drunk and skipped 1st and 2nd and tried for third on top of clothing she said no. He stopped and went on about his night. If he was some kind of sexual predator like everyone makes him out to be I think hammered drunk out of town alone with a girl in car a sexual predator wouldn’t have stopped after she said what are you doing. He would have been persistent and kept trying. But since he didn’t I Doubt he has some kind of problem. He tried got denied got suspended case closed. Everyone posting in here and the owners of this site all wish they could take back multiple things they did when they were drunk. And of those things none would have been done if you were sober. So get off your high horses and support a young kid who maid a stupid decision. You guys wanting him gone never liked him anyways and have been wanting something like this to happen so you could pounce on him. Grow up everyone deserves a second chance. And don’t go with the Florida State accusation go read the police report. And all the lies and discrepancies in her story. He drugged me no drugs in her system. I was drunk no alcohol in her system. 3 different dudes semen found on her panties. In a group called cleat chasers. My brother in law is a Liu tenant and he es in Tallahassee for training talked to the detective who was in charge of that case. And he said her story didn’t hold water she changed it so much and no facts ever matched her version. He said there was no way they could have every even got the prosecutor to file charges based on her testimony.

  35. Jmarkbuc Says:

And he is losing 3 games salary, suspension and the humiliation. I

    Poor Jameis?

    Are you freakin kidding me?

  36. Bucsfanman Says:

Guys! It ain’t his fault, don’t you know?! He’s a victim of circumstance!!!!(sarcasm!)
SMDH! The lengths that some go to! It’s reminiscent of those famous Eddie Murphy skits, “It wasn’t me!”
He did it. He’ll be punished. Get some perspective. Move on.

  37. Pete I Says:

“Banks had not been convicted then nor was HE Jameis’s friend from my understanding he is Darby’s friend and Darby invited him!”

Umm…”Brandon E. Banks’ choices cost him 15 years of his life and ended a stranger’s as she knew it.

A judge on Friday sentenced the 23-year-old former Vanderbilt University football player to 15 years in a Tennessee prison for raping and sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in June 2013.”Aug 17, 2017

Why does it matter that he’s black? You racist bro?

  40. Jfgobucs Says:

    It done…lets move forward
    Crying over spilled milk..

    Maybe make a trade…

I don’t believe with or without Jameis
We could hope for better than 1 win in
    The first 3 games

  41. Sc Bucs fan Says:

Is he not 6’4″? Is he not black? Did I describe him incorrectly?

  42. Dapostman Says:

JW is a 24 year old knucklehead. When this happened he was a 22 year old knuckled. Hopefully he doesn’t become a 25 year old knucklehead. He’s made his ONE NFL knuckle headed move. Everyone deserves a second chance to grow into a reliable adult and citizen. That doesn’t mean he deserves a 3rd and 4th chance though. The ball is in his court. His NFL Bucs career hangs in the balance and if the Bucs cut ties someone maybe Cincinnati will give this guy a shot. If he becomes the player we think he can be it may set this franchise back. Rooting for Fitzmagic!!

  43. Jfgobucs Says:

Agree with Dapostman…next man up..Go Fitz

  44. JameisNOT Says:

He would be long gone if this would have played out in a developed city. TRampa can swallow this pill pretty easily. TRampa is the gentlemen’s club capital of the US.

  45. Joe Blahak Says:

The Irish Rifle to save the team! Siberia’s QB can walk the plank anytime now….

  46. adam from ny Says:

josh freeman was just spotted having lunch with 2 of the glazer boys on dale mabry….hmmm

  47. gambelero Says:

Makes a lot more sense than the “cut Jameis,” “sit Jameis,” “trade Jameis for a fourth round pick and a career backup QB” crowd. Almost none of whom have watched him play 48 games and seen his potential.

Sure, Jameis needs to play better, be less reckless, turn it over less, stop the “Oh no. What was he thinking?” plays. Phillip Rivers needed to play better over the last eight years while the Chargers went 60-68. Brees needed to play better when his team had three straight 7-9 seasons. Manning (Eli), Carr, Goff, Prescott, Newton, Mariota and guys like Keenum, Bridgewater and Luck have all had a hard time when conditions weren’t right and looked like world beaters when they were in the right situation. Put any quarterback in a situation where he has no run game, a poor offensive line and a last place defense and he’s not going to win many games.

  48. Tony LA Says:

    Look…
I called what the Bucs were going to do this offseason with my mantra…

FIX THE TRENCHES, FIX THE BUCS!!

I’m going to call what the Bucs must do next…

GET ANOTHER QB, OR GO 0-3

The Bucs just released Sweezy. They have cap room. Make a trade and get a guy in here with time to learn the offense that can battle to beat out Fitz and then really push Jameis.

Don’t be resigned to the status quo. Go get that QB!!
