So Now Yards-Per-Carry Matters?

April 28th, 2018

Joe has finally recovered from a sore back after fainting following a take by Dirk Koetter last night.

The head coach was talking about how impressive the running backs in this draft class are and made a huge point to note their yards-per-carry average. That included the Bucs second-round pick Ronald Jones out of Southern California, a pick Joe absolutely adores.

“All those guys averaged between 6.1 and 6.3 yards a carry, and they all had a ton of carries. Like it wasn’t a small sample size of 100 carries,” Koetter said of the top running backs in the draft.

Joe will stop it right there.

Isn’t this the same head coach who watched Doug Martin average a league-worst 2.9 yards per carry in 2016 — with a big sample size of 144 carries? And he benched Martin in the biggest game of the season that year, and Martin was suspended by the NFL for the first three games of 2017?

Yet Martin was brought back, handed a starting job and he proceeded to drag the 2017 rushing attack into the sewer — and average 2.9 yards per carry again while Koetter watched every other Bucs running back average a lot more yards per carry.

If yards per carry matter so much to Koetter, then it sure makes the Martin fiasco even more hard to stomach.

Please remember that Doug Martin played for Boise State, and guess who coached Boise State ?
    Dirk Koetter is who.
Anyone think Koetter might have been looking out for his Homie ?
I also adore the RoJo pick Joe!

Watching this draft made it even more evident that Mayock is the true draft Guru, not Mel Kiper!
I watched most of the draft on NFL Network. I tried switching to Kiper and BSPN, but that coverage sucked so bad compared to NFL Network, I switched back to NFL Network in a hurry.

Trust the process! Its being in motion for three years. Don’t count last one. I can see what they’re doing. Like every year we get all pumped up with these acquisitions, to latter be disappointed….eeeh, I get it With that said , I really believe this year we’ll make a big leap. But still, I won’t get all hypped up unroll I see it. Don’t loose your faith, fellow brothers fans. GO BUCKS!

The only thing that makes sense is that Doug Martin had dirt on someone in the organization. Maybe he knew about an affair or helped dispose of a body from Mons Venus.

    /I’m kidding of course.

Totally agree…Keotter is a Joke, and Licht is a Clown. And this Circus got us 5 wins last season.

  11. Howard Cosell Says:

Martin will be a top 5 rusher this year for Chucky. Let it be written.

  12. Bird Says:

    HC

I would take that bet in a second that he is not.

He is going back home. His family better be looking over his shoulder cause he has drug issue (molly boy) and you always have better connections back home.

    Hope that is not case.

Actually , he may have decent year just cause it is 1 year deal. He seemed to do well in contract year only

  13. Not there yet Says:

It was something we all took notice of with this year’s class of running backs so he pointed to that as something that stood out. Yards per carry matter but Dirk is just not a very good coach and covering for Doug Martin was something he had to do to cover his own bad decisions

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

OK……you were right on Doug Martin……an eventual bust like almost all Dominick draftees….

  15. JimmyJack Says:

Ummm yeah OK, And if you put Martin in there and he blows up for a game then his YPC goes up significantly.

Why Dirk thought Martin would blow up is the question.

  16. Horse Liver Says:

Loyalty Joe. You know it. Koetter wanted to be loyal to the hamster, and hence deflected the ypc stat because it didn’t suit his case.
