“Best Ball” Fitz

April 21st, 2018

Joe would wager that Ryan Fitzpatrick starts on opening day for the Buccaneers this season, but that’s a story for another day (probably Tuesday).

In the meantime, Fitz landed quite an endorsement last week.

A neat little story in the Buffalo News caught Joe’s attention. New Hall of Fame inductee Terrell Owens was asked what quarterback threw the “best ball” through his long career that covered 15 seasons, five teams and 1,078 receptions.

Owens answer, via Twitter, was Ryan Fitzpatrick. The two were Bills teammates in 2009.

Buffalo had the 30th-ranked offense that season and Fitzpatrick started eight games, but there clearly was chemistry between him and Owens.

Joe’s got a gem to look at below: Fitz audibles a bomb to Owens for 98 yards. Memo to Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston, DeSean Jackson can do this, too.

So are you say the Bucs will be drafting a QB at 7….?….seems like if Jameis is in the cooler…his goose is cooked….

  2. Dooshlarue Says:

I’m hoping JW gets it together but I gotta say I want to see Fitz going deep….. with finesse, just to show everyone that it can be done.

  3. unbelievable Says:

So J0e is wagering that Jameis is getting a suspension? Interesting…

  4. AlteredEgo Says:

    This is HORRIBLE….

  5. Bucsfan1010 Says:

I hate this story and the idea that Jamies will get suspended

  6. Dewey Selmon Says:

Guess why we have a week 5 bye week?

  7. Pickgrin Says:

That’s a hell of an opening tease there Joe.

I’ve maintained the entire time that the JW-Uber “investigation” is a steamy pile of BS.

Without some specific “evidence” that could be cited – there’s no way Winston gets suspended – just “because” the TMZ style “allegation” somehow reflected badly on the league in somebody’s eyes..

What a crock that would be.

A suspension without evidence of wrong doing by JW could open the league up to a pretty major (and widely covered) lawsuit.

Sorry – but I just don’t see it happening. Not in this “case” at least…

  8. Bird Says:

This is clearly the Joe that loves Jameis

Not the Joe that loves loves loves Jameis (obsessively)

  9. Bird Says:

    Everyone-

Nfl golden boy Tom Brady got 4 games for allegedly requesting deflated footballs which is much ado about nothing

Jameis is alleged crotch grab of female uber driver in the now “Harvey Weinstein ” era

    Just saying

  10. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

LMAO! Since when does the NFL need HARD evidence?

  11. Seminole Bill Says:

So far, we have Darby coming forward to say nothing happened in the Uber car, and that there were three persons in the car, not just Jameis, as claimed by the Uber driver. So far, the anonymous third person has not been identified.

Given the amount of time that has passed, doesn’t it seem logical that the anonymous third person would have been identified? It’s in Jameis’ (and the Bucs) best interest to have that third person identified. If a third person comes forward to vouch for Jameis this is over, done with.

Without that third person, if he exists, the longer this goes on the worse it gets for Jameis.

  12. AlteredEgo Says:

Maybe they interviewed Darby….and his story …well maybe he was “inconsistent” …gawd this suckzzzzzz

  13. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Bird

I certainly would not dispute the part of your post that points out the punishment for Brady was waaaay over the top. One game at most…perhaps even a censure from the league. But they did have the goods on Brady because of some equipment that allegedly flipped. Man lots of talk about flipping lately. LOL

There is nobody to flip on #3…it’s a he said she said and the NFL cannot even create a case. I’m not saying that Goodell will not try and make something up but I don’t see how he gets away with it.

  14. ScottyinFatAntonio Says:

    Goodell = Comey

  15. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Whoa I just realized my post is not totally correct. The ONLY person who could flip on Jameis would be Darby. Hard to imagine a BFF flipping on his bud without strong reason. What could the NFL have on Darby to make him flip.

BTW….I DID NOT BRING THIS UP!!! I do not even have a solid opinion as to what happened because there is no way I can ever know so why waste time. Just SPECULATING along with the rest of you.

  16. Ndog Says:

It’s really sad the Bucs site most of us lean on is rooting for our franchise QB to get suspended. Really sad but that about the crap I see from most Bucs fans straight negativity.

  17. Ndog Says:

Also remember guys this is the same site that said a thousand times that Doug Martin would not be on the team last year and well…..

  18. ImtiredAnd87isright Says:

If I make an allegation against Goodell does that mean he could be suspended and not collect a pay check for four games? Where is HR when you need it. If Jameis gets suspended over an allegation with no facts then I’m done with this league and will be asking for a refund.

  19. AlteredEgo Says:

NDog….do you know how to cut and paste….if you do….submit where anyone “rooting for our franchise QB to get suspended. “….???????…the current American jury and voting system scares scares the crap out of me….SMH

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Take the scientific approach, flip a coin, heads JW beats any suspension, tails he sits out. Keep flipping until you get ahead.

  21. Dave Says:

It is a good thing we secured Ryan Fitzpatrick for our backup QB. Not because of the NFL’s endless ‘investigation’ but because Fitz handled himself admirably last season. He looked solid. He got results when we needed him. You couldn’t ask for more.

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

The largest factor on whether JW3 suspended is not guilt or innocence, but Fan outcry and backlash!!!!!! The more the Bucs are flying under the national radar, most likely no punishment would be handed out!!!!!!! And if it was not for the local media, who seem to ask about the investigation, the whole investigation would disappear like the JFro in the drug program investigation!!!!!!!!

Speak softly and don’t ask about the D@MN investigation!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. John meeks Says:

Why would anyone be shocked if jameis was suspended for the first few games,I mean we are talking about the worst commissioner of all time in any sport!I never thought it was possible for anyone to be worst than Bud Selig was for baseball.Goodell has jeopardized this league so many times and no one should be surprised at how the league has handled the Winston investigation.i honestly believe this guy will ruin this league before he gets out of office. If the NFL has any kind of competition like they had with the usfl back in the day, they would be in serious trouble!Roger Goodell has brought nothing good to the league from a fans perspective, the guy is plain awful!

  24. Jim Says:

    What happens Tuesday?

  25. AlteredEgo Says:

Meeks…even more puzzling is that the NFL ownership group is trilled with Goodell…just re upped his deal and gave him lifetime use of the NFL cooperate jet …..he’ll be BOO’d again at the draft next week….and he’ll just grin…

  26. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

if there is punishment then there was a NFL code of conduct violation. I don’t think Goodell would just punish Winston without some substantial evidence. Right now until a move is made by the NFL it’s all speculation. If he is punished we have to assume his conduct was not acceptable. Nobody knows the true evidence and for people to write comments exonerating him, or lynching him without true evidence is fake news.

  27. unbelievable Says:

^ I’d grin too if I was making 30+ million dollars a year

  28. JonBuc Says:

The silence is deafening from Rogering Godell…doen’t look/sound/smell good at all. Glad Fitz is back vs a reunion with The Giraffe. That’s just ugly football to watch.

  29. Jjones Says:

If I was piloting Goodells lifetime use of a private jet he’d have a very turbulent ride.

  30. mark2001 Says:

Pickgrin….you have no idea what the league has. Neither do I.

But let’s face it…for Jameis to put himself in that situation with a couple of knuckleheads, especially one of them apparently acting inappropriately with a woman driver. wasn’t very bright. Jameis…you have to be smarter than that. For Gods sake, hire a personal driver or insist on a male driver. You should never be alone with any woman in private but family or your girl friend.

  31. Jjones Says:

So what do you know that we don’t Joe?(Tuesday???) Is this just more drama to get our feathers ruffled? This sh!ts getting old!

  32. Jjones Says:

If you don’t come out with news on Tuesday that Jameis is suspended or not your credibility as a reporter is shot…it’s suspect anyway.

  33. mark2001 Says:

Some of you guys sound pretty ridiculous. We don’t know what the league has or doesn’t…or what is in store for us Tuesday.

Let’s get the word…and we can be certain Joe, Ira, PR and everyone under the sun will analyze it. To attack Jameis, the Bucs, or the League office until we know something substantive is pretty silly. At least it sounds like the league is doing us a little courtesy by letting us know before the draft.

  34. John meeks Says:

ALTERED EGO, I GUESS he makes the owners millions of dollars so they like him.it just shows the fans how greedy they truly are and that they aren’t concerned with what is best for the league.there is no one that can convince me that Goodell cares about this league or it’s fans nor can they convince me that he knows what the hell he is doing.

  35. Marc Says:

    JOE,

If you, a Buccaneers insider, are insinuating that you have information suggesting that JW will be suspended for the season opener, one must consider that the Bucs may draft a QB with their first pick. I believe that I speak for legions of Bucs fans when I say that, if there is any substantial evidence JW grabbed this woman’s crotch, I am done with JW and they need to move one. Sorry to everyone to disagrees with this, but remember that the truth hurts.

  37. Bird Says:

    Hey all

I think the Joe’s are just writing another article about incident. Is what he was insinuating. Don’t think there is anything to it. If you Google Jameis ,there is not one article about any suspension

The Joe’s are good but not that good. Adam schefter or another nfl insider would probably have posted something already.

  38. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This is called the “tease”……..so Joe is promoting something that will be made public Tuesday?……

At this point it’s “She said…..nobody said”

    Bunch of BS

  39. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Protecting the shield…?
How about protecting the bill of rights?!
NFL screwed up when they mishandled Ray Rice incident and they’ve been taking it out on players ever since… not much different from Wall St and corporate executives who get away with white collar crime and then they dump on some low level employee… they’re FOS

  40. John meeks Says:

Mark2001,you telling us we are silly for attacking the worst commissioner of all time in any sport? You telling us that the league office couldn’t have resolved the Winston investigation by late april? They could not even comment on it?And your calling someone silly? You might want to look in the mirror,it’s sounds like your I Q is isn’t very high!

  41. Sweeptheleg Says:

Lmao usually we have to wait till after the first quarter of the first game to realize the season is over and they suck.

But I guess we know early this year. Don’t have to wait to know it’s already over lmao.

    Life of a Bucs fan

  42. AlteredEgo Says:

Meeks…not to worry… Jerry Markbreit is running the investigation

  43. StPeteBucsFan Says:

NDog…sorry gotta go with Altered Ego on this one….there are the few trolls who have always hated Jameis still hanging around but far and away most here support Jameis and are rooting for him personally.

Some people get accused of A.)believing the girl instead of Jameis B. trying to get #3 suspended because they repeat discussion about the story…or of rooting against Jameis if a discussion of a contingency plan (Fitz starting game one).

As far as why Goodell has so much power and the owners keep reupping him..
Uh…as they said in Jerry McGuire “Show me the money”. Goodell has led to league to unprecedented wealth…the owners love that.

  44. mark2001 Says:

John…. and again, you don’t know what was involved in the investigation. nor do I. Joe is too smart to burn any inside sources he has and he owes you or no one else nothing but his best effort. Let it play out. I’m not defending or criticizing the commissioner…but I guarantee you one thing…he is the commissioner and has the consensus of owners support. So basically, you are sounding stupid.

Is 130 to 140 high enough for you? Or is comfortably retired in my 50’s with multiple homes and properties…BTW, not on wheels and down by the river like yours, more your measure of intelligence?

  45. AlteredEgo Says:

M2001….the lamest response on any www forum “mine is bigger than yours” is pathetic….weaker than weak…

  46. mark2001 Says:

Weak? Because I’m no big whiner…”oh that mean commissioner”? Lame.

And learn to read. I didn’t bring up his intelligence…just said the whining about the big bad commissioner sounded ridiculous. He opened that game… I answered him. And beyond that, all I did was answer his statement regarding my intelligence with the facts. You sound pretty sensitive about it…I guess it speaks volumes in itself. If you don’t like the league, the commissioner, the game, try Bridge…or knitting.

  47. Realty 43 Says:

Only way to salvage this season is to trade up and take Baker Mayfield.

  48. AlteredEgo Says:

OK…I got it now !!!…smoke …to choke a team into trading up with the Bucs…fearing they might draft a QB….as you were…smoke’ em if you got ’em….shhhh….don’t tell anyone…

  49. K_Bassuka Says:

I would stop watching the Bucs if Fitzpatrick was to play any games while JW it’s healthy. Besides who in the world cares about what TO has to say?

  50. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    @ Bassuka…problem is Jameis might be healthy..but if he’s suspended, that won’t matter…

  51. LifeOfABucFan Says:

So I agree with Marc..if Jameis gets suspended, we need to draft a QB!!

@Joe … “Joe would wager that Ryan Fitzpatrick starts on opening day for the Buccaneers this season, but that’s a story for another day (probably Tuesday).”

I get the tease part Joe, we see it every day. What I don’t get is the ‘Probably Tuesday’ part, given that the draft starts on Thursday. Why would you sit on a major impact story like that for 3 days and then drop it right before the Big Day? The Donald doesn’t do that … ‘See target, shoot target’. Go for it!

  56. K_Bassuka Says:

    @LifeOfABucFan

I know, but if that’s the case then we need to draft/sign an adequate QB instead of that bum. Still don’t know why he’s on the team.

  57. SB Says:

  60. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Bassuka..agree..if he gets suspended..I’m done with JW..done…and who knows what’s the next incident he’ll be part of? Hmmm…

    I guess that’s why Jameis doesn’t get any endorsement deals..no commercials..nothing..

    Bring on Mayfield!

And don’t @ me, Jameis homers…I just won’t trust him again if he gets suspended…

  61. Capt.Tim Says:

    Fitz 2-1
    Jameis 3-10

    We’ll be ok

  62. Joe Says:

I don’t think Goodell would just punish Winston without some substantial evidence.

You should brush up on the Tom Brady and Ezekiel Elliott suspensions.

  63. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If Jameis Winston is suspended…..that will certainly not bode well for his contract extension…..for two reasons…..the act (or alleged act)……and not informing the team.
This would be a tremendous embarrassment for the Glazers & Licht.

Let’s hope that somehow Joe is confused and think this is April 1st.

  64. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

You should brush up on the Tom Brady and Ezekiel Elliott suspensions.

There was significant doubt with both. Feel free to research this by the magic of Google. Both got suspended. Should be able to follow the breadcrumbs from there.

Besides, once again, NFL per Florio is treating this case not as a legal issue, but a PR issue.

  66. Joe Says:

Let’s hope that somehow Joe is confused and think this is April 1st.

You are overlooking one significant, major road block here. Goodell does not need evidence to suspend anyone. He is the judge, jury and executioner.

Goodell’s office is not a court of law and his power has been established by collective bargaining with the players association, upheld by the judicial system when both Elliott and Brady took him to court.

Joe ***hopes*** Jameis isn’t suspended. Goodell’s history suggesting something different.

  67. AlteredEgo Says:

“Besides, once again, NFL per Florio is treating this case not as a legal issue,
    but a PR issue.”……
.hmmm…..how’d that knelling thing work out for the NFL ?

  68. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

Both got suspended because the Commissioner felt he had ample evidence to enforce league policy. I can google till the cows come home but all the evidence that Goodell used to make his decisions is not available on the net. What evidence we may find on google can be tainted rhetoric and conjecture. Only someone naïve would believe what they read on the internet. I don’t want to argue with you Joe, but you have to admit, we can’t be sure we have all the actual facts. Same thing goes for Winston. I’m crossing my fingers that he will be exonerated but if he is punished we have to assume that Goodell felt their was sufficient evidence to make his decision.

  69. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Even a PR issue needs to be fair…or it can backfire…there needs to be more than her word or every NFL player is in jeopardy.

  70. Kobe Faker Says:

Without even a police investingation or even a officail complaint of a crime…

If goodell suspends JW…the union would want JW to fight this matter whole heardenly

    Joes argument is flawed

Tom brady suspension was a football in game matter with official game rules

Elliot case involved a official police report filing and complaint

There never ever was an suspension that was given to a player without a official police complaint filed…union will fight this with everything they have

    ******************

    JOE,

Maybe YOU should brush up on the Ezekiel Elliott case as there was a police report, multiple eye witnesses, physical evidence (beat up girlfriend) AND even VIDEO-EVIDENCE!

As for Brady, there was scientific evidence, Brady’s refusal to comply with league requests and phone evidence.

Zeke deserved the 6 games, period.

Brady didn’t deserve a suspension, just a fine, but there was still a whole lot of evidence against the Patriots if not Brady, and Brady didn’t comply the way the league wanted him too …

However, with Jameis there was no police report, no civil claim, no physical evidence, no video evidence and the only eye witness on record corroborates Jameis’ statement … this is NOTHING like the Zeke or Brady cases.

Also, if you actually believe the NFL is treating this like a PR thing rather than a criminal thing, like I said, it’s ONLY TAMPA MEDIA that is making a big deal out of this and that still talks about it … it’s a non-issue everywhere else and no media outside Tampa seems to think Jameis will even be suspended for a game, so stop talking about it.

Also … anyone who wants a QB drafted at #7 is a loon … a team with as many holes as the Bucs would be INSANE to draft a QB … and regardless, all 4 of the top QBs will be gone in the first 6 picks I believe.

    ONE MORE THING

IMHO there is NO WAY the NFL will suspend Jameis for more than 2 games, as they would NOT have given the Bucs their one and only Prime Time (MONDAY NIGHT!) game in week 3 if they were planning to suspend Jameis.

Also, I think the schedule points to the NFL having no intention to suspend Jameis for even one game as they gave the Bucs a road game against a division rival and the team they beat in dramatic fashion in the final game of last season, the Saints, in week 1.

If the NFL was going to suspend Jameis for even one game, I imagine they would have had the Bucs play an AFC opponent in week 1.

So, I have always maintained that I believe Jameis will not get suspended for even one regular season game, and the NFL Schedule release seems to point to that as well.

  82. Jjones Says:

With as many character flaws Jameis has fans have every right to knock him. Jameis has been awesome since being drafted, constantly doing charity work and working his butt off … there has been no problems at all and if this mere “accusation” is just that, than he gets an A+ for his “off field” behavior since being drafted. Jameis took an uber … that’s not putting himself in “drama”.

By the way … Roethlisberger (multiple rape accusations after being drafted), Brady (deflate gate suspension, dumping his baby momma), Favre (partying, rehab for drugs) all had issues and they’re all going to the HOF … R-E-L-A-X loon.

    **********

    MarineBuc,

I, for one, don’t think of you as a troll. However, this, meaning the schedule, looks GREAT for the Bucs and Jameis’ prospects.

The NFL could have easily had the Bucs play the Bengals, Browns or Raven in week #1 or even week2 #1-2 if they planned to suspend Jameis for 1-2 games … but I don’t think there’s any way they give them a division opponent in week 1 if they plan to suspend Jameis … and I think there is about a 0.01% chance Jameis is suspended for more than 3 games as there is just NO WAY the league would put the Bucs on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL if they are planning to suspend Jameis for that 3rd game … NO WAY imho.

  95. Chris K Says:

Jameis is our QB and I support him 100%. My thing here is I was put through the ringer on this site because I questioned the image and the questionable character that came along with Jameis. I was bashed over and over for simply questioning all of it, by Joe, by 87 and by others, you know who you are. So now Joe is saying he believes a suspension is coming and says it in the most casual of ways? You owe us all more than that. You know something then spill it now. I never hear about this story anywhere anymore and I figured that was a good thing because out of site out of mind is what we as fans are hoping for. But where do I have to read on occasion about the Uber event and now a belief a suspension is coming? Yup! Right here! Where we were told he was Jesus, where we were told it was all good, where we were told he was another Peyton Manning. Your followers deserve better than this article. I’m not bashing you Joe, I’m just saying… Jameis is your baby and the baby of all the ones who bashed anyone that questioned drafting him. So, in that case you owe us more than this story that has real fans worried that we might piss away another season. Don’t even get me started that if the Bucs already knew and still gave him his fifth season on his contract. This whole thing stinks!
Joe is finalizing a piece that will run on Monday or Tuesday explaining what is coming and why. –Joe

  96. Jjones Says:

NFLNUT…you are truly a NUT, your name precedes your bias!

Just because you do charity work doesn’t make you a GOOD person you idiot, SMDH! And Jameis’ problems started well before he got in the league (or did you forget) and now the issues continue, so enjoy the biased bubble you live in while the rest of reality circles you like a vulture.

Farve, Roethlisberger and Brady were already in the league before any of those issues arouse. Roethlisberger(whether he was guilty or not) made a real effort and cleaned his act up as did Brady and Farce. And speaking of Brady and Farve they had already won SB’s and solidified their names in history so thanks for helping prove my point. Maybe you should change your name to NFLNUMBNUTS, it suits you better.

  97. AlteredEgo Says:

Does this…if Jameis is suspended, he is not America’s QB…?

  98. Jjones Says:

  99. Roy T. Buford Says:

Sad to say, if JW is suspended, it is likely for lying to the NFL and his owners AND for Goodell (agree with or like him or not) would do it regarding the “shield.” The fact there is no lawsuit as of this date means “kate” is not really a gold digger…in many ways, this makes her more believable.

If Goodell has proof there were no others in the car, JW is toast for lying on that alone. And his owners who put their full trust in him will move on. Fifth year option? They can walk away from JW and not pay a penny of it.

I wonder if they can trade Jameis and 1st round pick to Cleveland for one of their 1st round picks. Get a QB and bring him along under Fitz.

Boy, I hope JW is not suspended.

What’s up with the moderation Joe? I’m not using a funky IP address.

  101. Pickgrin Says:

    Buncha damn worry warts…

    Jameis is not getting suspended.

Joe’s just teasing with some little tidbit he picked up from somewhere. It is NOT official news that Jameis is getting suspended or anything close to that.

This “Jameis might get suspended” bit that local media is harping on is just off-season fodder. Something to talk about. Something to write about.

Nobody else in the world of football really cares or even really mentions this “story”…

Because there’s nothing to it. Just a TMZ style allegation 18 months after the fact.

NFL screwed up big time even announcing an “investigation”. They’ve got no where to go with this. King Goodell is not going to risk his King-like status by suspending a player with zero evidence of wrongdoing.

  105. NFLNut Says:

    *************

    ROY T. BUFORD,

Jameis lied to the NFL and the Glazers? What are you talking about?

Also, that no civil case was filed simply proves that Kate’s lawyer knows there isn’t a case to be made and no chance of winning imho.

And, that Kate never even filed a police report proves that she didn’t even think the Police would find Jameis guilty of anything.

To me, the facts of this “case” seem to point to nothing but an attempted confidential money grab by Kate. She didn’t file a police report and her attorney didn’t even file a civil case, but, she went to the media … and an obvious reason would be to pressure Jameis into giving her a confidential cash payment.

However, as Jameis showed in the Kinsman thing, he doesn’t pay hush money … when Kinsman sued him civilly to gain a financial windfall, Jameis countersued her! Kinsman then dropped her civil case and Jameis’ dad publicly stated that she didn’t get a penny from his son.

Jameis isn’t Roethlisberger, Kobe or any number of other athletes, actors, politicians and the like that pay false accusers to simply go away, he stands tall and demands justice.

AS FOR JOE … I’ve ALWAYS defended Joe but I’m quite disgusted at the current “tease” as I don’t think it’s right to do to the many die-hard fans and loyal readers on this site, AND if it turns out that Joe simply has a personal “opinion” that Jameis will be suspended because of Goodell’s past actions or because of something Joe heard from some goober like Mike Florio or whatever, every single reader on this site will have every right to be ticked with Joe.

I’m tired of y’all saying he’s a good back up . Go ask the jets, bills, titans, Texans, Bengals, n y’all have all this trust in this garbage quarter back. If y’all are real fans we should be sad.

  109. NFLNut Says:

^ Ryan Fitzpatrick is a GREAT “BACKUP” … he’s just not a good “starter”.

However, even if Jameis is suspended by the NFL, it will almost assuredly be for only 1-2 games as there is no way the league would give the Bucs a week 3 MNF if they planned to suspend Jameis for 3 or more games.

And, if we have to ride with Fitz for the first 2 games, it’s not that big of a deal as we will be heavy underdogs against the Saints (in New Orleans) and the defending SB Champs whether Jameis or Fitz is under center.

  110. NFLNut Says:

    @nflnut

Agree with most what you stated but….

The union wont allow JW to accept the suspension ruling without appealing. THIS IS A FACT

The union will not allow goodell to suspend players without a criminal police report being filed. This is a precedent that the union WILL NOT ACCEPT TO OCCUR.

What’s the criminal code for; willfully violating legally establish minimum or maximum allowed air pressure levels in game day football’s.

Maybe the union is still tied up with the Josh Freeman leaks case….that’s why they have allowed the precedent for suspension without a prior criminal complaint
………oooohhhhh boy! Problems in Kobe city, ……how does it keep on happening.

I think that it’s the next one that the players union will get out in front of. That’s if, they call the Kobe law offices on the dedicated pro player crises line now.

  114. Defense Rules Says:

@Oneilbucs … “Ryan Fitzpatrick is sorry . If we lose Winston we are done.” Bullspit! Fitz has ‘matured’ tremendously over his career (and most of the teams he’s played for were garbage at the time he was there). Like Nut said, he makes a GREAT “BACKUP”.

The team takes on a whole different persona IMO when Fitz comes in. Go back & look at the 2nd half of the Arizona game for starters … a different team took the field that half, with the same players. Same thing with the Jets, Dolphins & Falcons games (even though we lost the last one). Admittedly I’m not sure why. Could be because they stop looking to the QB to ‘make a play’ and hold themselves (and each other) more accountable. Could be because of Fitz’ leadership style or any other number of reasons. But to say that he’s ‘garbage’ is bullspit. Bucs are solid at the QB position group with Jameis, Fitz & yes, Ryan (he’ll surprise folks when he gets a chance to start one day IMO).

  115. Roy T. Buford Says:

NFL Nut, how do you know JW didn’t pay Kinsman money? Because he said so…because his dad said so? LOL! Lack of reports don’t “prove” anything. It only indicates she probably isn’t out to get money for damages per se. Yeah, maybe she knows it isn’t true. I don’t know if JW did anything to “Kate” or not. Now listen up: But it’s a sure bet if he is found to have lied about three guys in the car, there is no reason to believe he did NOT do it, even though they still shouldn’t get him for that without proof. HOWEVER, as is often stated here and other places, and something I’ve maintained: it’s about the shield (for Goodell), and if JW lied about the number of people in the car, especially to his owners, then they should (and likely willl) NOT EVER trust him again. And you don’t pay millions a QB and make him the face of your franchise *if* (not accusing him) he lies and deceives…especially after all they’ve been through with his past. Let’s wait and see.

  116. Kobe Faker Says:

    Duke

Brady was suspended because of voilating in game rules. It was not a criminal outside the game violation

There are detailed official rules and regulations on exactly what and how to handle footballs during the game. Exact details concerning psi range and condition of the footballs being used game day

Josh freeman suspension? Leaks? From the NFL office? Kobe was involved with this putrid franchise when they drafted JW.

  118. Bucco Says:

This is pretty crap “reporting”. Reminds me posters on another site.

  119. Roy T. Buford Says:

Kobe…that’s what I remember the circumstances to be as well. I do have a hard time believing Kinsman walked away with nothing; and it’s not common that any settlements end without money changing hands. Neither here nor there, this has nothing to do with alleged crimes at this point. That is, doesn’t matter that the “lunch money” was returned, so to speak; it is who took it and if there were attempts to cover it up…even if the guy who they think did it…did not.

A really big twist to this would be *if* (not saying anything happened) Jameis in fact settled with “Kate,” or made contact in attempt to settle; any admisssion or not. Again, it’s Goodell and his shield.

  120. darin Says:

Fitz was nailin the deep ball last year in Arz. He can sling it. Lets hope winston gets it improved. Drives me nuts when he, or any qb, throws the thing out of bounds. At least keep it in and give your wr a chance JW. Cmonnn mannnnn

  121. Jjones Says:

The only LOON on here is you NFLNUMBNUTS. You can’t even look at Jameis objectively because your so biased, wake up and smell reality because you ain’t in it.

  122. gilhealy Says:

@Kobe, Roy…The Kinsman case was dismissed as soon as Winston filed his countersuit. No money changed hands. Both were liable for all court costs and attorney fees. The only money she got was the Title 9 money from FSU.

  123. Roy T. Buford Says:

Gilhealy, I don’t think the case was dismissed against Jameis that soon. Seems like it was months after he filed his countersuit. We do know she got the Title 9 money from FSU. As has been said, the terms of anything else were never made known. Maybe you know something the rest of us don’t. That is quite possible. But if you did, I don’t think you’d be sharing it openly. Is it just educated speculation on your part?

  124. Roy T. Buford Says:

As for the no way they’d suspend JW for more than two games since he’s making a Monday night appearance in Week #3. Guess again. Early in the season, there is already going to be high interest in MNF, and because the Steelers are playing, that’s already a huge draw. Nothing would make the NFL’s (Goodell) point more than listening to the talking heads talk repeatedly about JW and conduct, and how RF again has a chance to shine.

Let’s say some bad news comes out Tuesday, and suppose (not saying it will) indeed JW deceived the leaguehis owners about # in the car with “Kate” and he gets 2, 4, or even 6 games (depending on how much Goodell thinks maybe he deceived AND did grope as alleged)…I’m betting the Bucs draft a QB Thursday night and RF becomes that guy’s mentor… Because the Bucs will save aboout $20 million next year…

I sure hope not…but that is not an impossible scenario. It’s us ticket buying fans who get the shaft again. And should this scenario happen or something similar, it’s the fault of Jameis alone (if he lied/deceived).

    JOE,

I value my reputation as well … I think we all do.

I NEVER made a single “baseless attack” on you and I NEVER “maliciously attacked” you either.

I stand by every word I typed and as I said before, if I made a single baseless attack or maliciously attacked you even one time, COPY AND PASTE SUCH and show me and I will apologize for doing so.

Right now, you have two bolded posts that contain lies about me and I don’t appreciate that. All I’m asking you to do is show where I made a baseless or malicious attack and I will apologize. If you can’t do that, don’t you think you should remove your bolded posts saying that I did such things, as such would be untrue?

    Thanks.

    ROY T. BUFORD,

Jameis’ dad made a public statement that his son did not pay Kisnman a single penny. I believe had he been lying Kinsman’s lawyer would have filed suit against him immediately. I also believe it’s common sense Jameis didn’t pay her, as had his intention been to pay her “hush money” he would never have countersued her … he would just paid her. The FACT is that Jameis COUNTERSUED Kinsman and SHE THEN DROPPED HER CASE! That is the FACT, draw whatever conclusion you want from that FACT.

As for this Uber thing … Goodell “can” suspend Jameis for nothing. However, even if Jameis is suspended a full 6 games AND it is proven he lied about the number of passengers, I doubt it will affect his next contract at all … seriously.

Also, the Bucs have not been through anything with Jameis … Jameis has been a model citizen and amazing leader in the community since the day they drafted him … they’ve been through NOTHING.

    KOBE FAKER,

No, I was not incorrect! What I stated was 100% true.

Kinsman sued Jameis in civil court … Jameis then countersued her. Then there was a statement that both sides agreed to drop their cases and after that Jameis’ dad publicly stated his son didn’t pay her a single penny. THOSE ARE THE FACTS.

    ROY T. BUFORD,

Even if Jameis gets suspended for 6 full games I would say there is a 0.000000001% chance the Bucs draft a QB at #7 and the same chance they don’t offer Jameis the richest extension in history. They will just view it like he was out 6 games due to an injury and move forward imho.

  129. Jim Says:

128 posts, wow… Both very entertaining and a serious lesson in delusional thinking.

  130. StPeteBucsFan Says:

This is such a sensitive subject for many here I feel the need for disclaimers.
I love Jameis. I do not know what happened…therefore I believe nothing…the girl…Jameis the league…I DO NOT KNOW.

Roy might be on to something however. What if there was mysterious 3rd person who was in the front and did grab the girl. If that happened it would clear #3 of the actual “crime” but the league would still be upset with his choice of companions. Perhaps that’s why their letting him dangle in the breeze right now.

WHATEVER…this has been handled in mind numbing stupid fashion.

The Draft? Hell at the rate this is going we’re not going to know until the announcers on opening day give us the starting lineups!!!

  131. BringBucsBack Says:

Joe’s, why Tuesday? Unless a public ruling is made, save the news until after the draft so as not to tip off any team in our desire for a quarterback replacement.

  132. Oneilbucs Says:

If I’m Winston I wouldn’t speak to a woman are use the elevator if a woman is on it. I wouldn’t shake a woman hand. I will always have some body with me at all times. Some would call me jurk but I will have to be that way a few years.

  133. Bucco Says:

Maybe everyone’s reading this wrong. Maybe Joe is playing with words a little bit here. Back in February Jameis announced he and his girlfriend were expecting a baby. If you do the math they were announcing it in early February which means they have probably known for at least a month or two and nine months from that point would be the beginning of September. So maybe Joe has an expecting date conflicting with the Bucs 1st game. Play on words and of course everybody assumes it’s about the investigation. Well played.
