Report: Bucs Sign DE Mitch Unrein

March 14th, 2018

The newest Buccaneers has Super Bowl experience

Unreal!

No Unrein.

He’s the latest score in the Bucs’ no-name free agency haul (so far). The name is Mitch Unrein, who spent the last three years with the Bears and another five spread between the Broncos and Chargers.

He’s coming off a 2 1/2 sack season with eight starts. So he’s feels like a Corvette pass rusher on the Bucs roster. That was Unrein’s best sack total of his career. Obviously, he’s a stop-the-run kind of guy.

At 30 years old, he’s a depth signing, and a former teammate of Bucs DE (for now) Robert Ayers.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times broke the news, which includes Unrein locking up $4 million in guaranteed cash.

I think Licht is making a lot of white decisions. Oops
    I mean right…..

  4. Wesley Says:

Wow this is so exciting, said no one.

  5. Waterboy Says:

There you go Licht keep that bar nice and low so that you won’t have to cringe at high expectations.

  6. Joeypoppems Says:

As I’ve said a couple times on the last article:

Beau Allen and Mitch Unrein were graded as the top 2 DL in run stop percentage according to PFF.

Rush defense is being addressed before pass rush. Dont know why but there arent many pass rushers in FA anyway.

  7. gilhealy Says:

    that info courtesy of @joeypoppems

  8. Chucklehead Says:

    Feeling a little underwelmed

  9. BROCKTACULAR Says:

    BOTB signing….

  10. JD Says:

Finally our Pass rushing worries are over.

  11. Joeypoppems Says:

    @gilhealy

which I got from Rick Stroud on twitter lol

  12. WutdaBucisthis Says:

    Feeling heartbroken

  13. BROCKTACULAR Says:

    or is it??

  14. Juggernautical Says:

I’m sure they are quality guys but if Suh also signs for $5-7Mil somewhere, I’m not gonna be happy spending 5.25 and 4 mil these two players

  15. Delabuc Says:

Typical Bucs!! Let’s get the Honey Badger!!

  16. gilhealy Says:

    @Joeypoppems

    good stuff either way

  17. Clw JB Says:

He’s 301lbs, not a DE here unless we are moving to a 3/4

  18. JAB83 Says:

Finally somebody realized GMC needed a white side kick… Ala #77 Culpeper to #99 Sapp… Dr. Dre and Slim Shady.

Besides, everybody knows. Things go right when you go white

  19. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Y’all are sitting here touting Unrein and Allens PFF declared run stuffing proficiency…

Anthony Collins was supposed to be the best LT available in the 2014 offseason according to PFF.

  20. Mike Johnson Says:

Man..The Hits just keep on comin…Our Bucs are on fire HUH? A DE with like what? 4 to 6 sacks in 7 yrs of play. Welcome Mr Urine..you will fit in nicely with these Bucs. Please take Licht, Koetter and smitty with you when they flush you down the toilet in 2019!!!!!!

  21. Greecosuave Says:

Suh, Poe, Matheiu, Gaines, ummmm no.We got dude. Sure we need him but just gimme something sexy. Cmon Licht!

  22. squadoosh Says:

    Yessss!!!!!…………………….who?

  23. Gambelero Says:

At least we’re being consistent. We’ve criticized the Bucs for being inconsistent, so there’s that.

  24. Mtbucsfan Says:

Hmm keeping up with run stoppers so how we stopping the pass?? Hopefully that means honey badger!!

  25. Bird Says:

We have signed 2 butt plugs

  26. Dooshlarue Says:

The Sheeple only get excited over well known names, whether they are worth it or not.

The Sheeple like the big names so they can plot and plan during the offseason and surmise how well the team is going to do based on plugging in old stats from players on other teams…..with different systems….and expecting the same results here.
Chemistry and all the other tangibles be damned.

The Sheeple need big familiar names!!!

Come on Licht……don’t you get it?
The Sheeple need the big names and vaults of Glazer loot to feel good about this team…..until around October…..and then they call you an idiot for wasting all that cash!!!!!

  27. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Blake

Just trying to figure out “the plan” that Licht has. Wouldn’t say Im thrilled with these signings.

  28. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Bird with the comment of the day.

  29. K_Bassuka Says:

This is really depressing. Lost all my hope for this team…

  30. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

No reason to panic. Man bunch of whiney babies posting lately.

Go play some more Madden and pretend you know how to run a team.

This team was not far off in ’16, they had some special chemistry. We signed/kept some guys that dragged us down. Baggage has been dropped.
We are adding some big boys, I love it. These are guys with playoff and Superbowl experience.
A lot of things stacked against us last year (Jameis, kwon, lavonte, Gerald, grimes, Evans, Spence all injured, Dougs ineffectiveness, swaggy barking up the wrong tree, etc…)
Those things are so random year to year but its highly unlikely we have that many studs go down again.

At least wait to see how this draft plays out before you freak the he’ll out and lose all hope is what I’m saying.

  31. Sunny Says:

    GOING LICHTS OUt!!!

  32. Lord Cornelius Says:

More 3-4 is the only positive silver lining out of these signings so far.

In theory it should help our run defense but it’s the pass defense / pass rush that has continually lost us games year after year. Still need to stop the run but f*ck

  33. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

So Doosh you think its a bad idea to try and sign players with a track record of success? At positions of which we are utterly bereft of talent/ production?

    Ok bud.

  34. AtlBucs Says:

    @Joeypoppems
If the run is stopped on 1st and second down, 3rd and long situations will lead to more sacks. It’s hard to get sacks on 3rd an 3’s.

  35. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

No Doosh, lets take the guys that have never done anything instead!!! SMH at the stupidity of fans like you.

  36. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Who was it that said remain calm Jason had a plan.. Has he put it in the works yet?

  37. MadMax Says:

Honeybadger….lets get him. I wanted to draft him…….$9 mill.

  38. JAB83 Says:

    The plan LOOKS LIKE THIS:

At the core of our team we our the 9-7 team from 2 years ago.

We didnt need big names or stop gaps or divas to get better. We need depth and more chemistry. We needed to grow olas a family.

With ALL THINGS BEING CONSIDERED. Looks to me we hit the reset button, signed our guys and have added to the depth. Gholston is now free to focus soley on pass rush.

Between the draft and a couple players that get cut. We will be better.

Last year our culture from the season prior failed. Though the culture did not change.

Like any family. This team has a real chance to bounce back from its failure a year ago and be dominat

  39. dmatt Says:

We r bringing in 3rd tier players that played on a Super Bowl team full of elite player makers that make the average mediocre player look elite. R u serious we r stocking up with just bodies…give me a break. The saints, falcons, n panthers r giggling n licking their chops.

  40. gilhealy Says:

…and it’s a good point @AltBucs. Complimentary football and such.

  41. Joeypoppems Says:

    @AtlBucs

3rd and long doesnt = sacks. They still need somebody with the ability to get to the QB whether its 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 31

The run defense definitely needed to be fixed. Pass rush should be the priority tho.

  42. K_Bassuka Says:

That’s what we get though. People like the garbage Fitzpatrick signing now I’m sure Licht it’s all over the dumpster for the next garbage we will embrace 😕

  43. Bucsfan951 Says:

    @bird
    That made me lol

  44. Marc Says:

Uh, did the Bucs cut Will Gholston or something? This singing makes ZERO sense.

    -Pissed off Bucs fan

  45. SCBucsFan Says:

I have a feeling this signing won’t get us off suicide watch

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Well…if they turn this team around, Licht and Koetter will look like geniuses.

  47. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

    3-13 #Schwartz2019

  48. Marc Says:

No wait, even if we had cut Will Gholston… this signing wild still make zero sense. Thanks for letting us down again BUCS! Why do I still follow this team? We can’t Win. We can’t even win in the offseason anymore. A total bunch of LOSERS!

  49. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Joeypoppems Says
“As I’ve said a couple times on the last article:

Beau Allen and Mitch Unrein were graded as the top 2 DL in run stop percentage according to PFF.

Rush defense is being addressed before pass rush. Dont know why but there arent many pass rushers in FA anyway.”

As depth they make sense. Since we cannot address the pass rush yet, deal with what we can address. Our run defense was pretty bad last year too, I suppose.

People claiming Allen was brought in to start were wrong, clearly.

  50. cmurda Says:

It’s hard to get excited over 2 cornfed white dudes but, hey, whatever.

  51. Dooshlarue Says:

Oh but TDTB remember last offseason?
We had almost all the pieces….we had DJax.
How were we not gonna win?

    Yeah……that turned out just fine.
I’d prefer to BUILD a team that plays as a team.

    Enough of the expensive Band-Aids.

I also think a big draft related trade is in the works.
    I hope I’m right.

  52. BelligerentBuc Says:

This FA class is sparce on DE but pretty stout on run blockers.

The draft is where we will find DE…why overpay for old average talent when you can go younger and cheaper.

Our new D line coach is an actual coach who knows how to develop talent. Whats the carrot in front of him? Smitty’s job when he is promoted to a head coach!

GO BUCS!! 11-5 here we come!

  53. DBrad67 Says:

I know I said I wasn’t going to get involved with anything Bucco until after the Draft party but can anybody explain to me how those 2 Mother******* sleep @ night !!!!

  54. Dooshlarue Says:

    cmurda

So you would be more excited over 2 black dudes?
    Interesting……

  55. Drew aka q Says:

Joe … next time you ask jason licht a question… ask him this…. are you a dumb arse?

  56. SteveK Says:

April Fools is here early! Lolololol!

  57. LakeLand Says:

Ed Glazer hosted a fundraiser at his home for Donald Trump on Tuesday night. Now the Bucs can’t sign free agents on Wednesday. Trump did have beef with the NFL players.

  58. Pancake block Says:

    I smell championship

  59. SteveK Says:

We need to make up for passing up on Calais Campbell and not closing the Rob Quinn deal! I wonder with the run stopping prowess, does this limit Will
    gholston’s time with the Bucs?

Cut Sweezy! Sign Jenson! Let Marpet maul people at OG!

  60. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @Buccaneer Bonzai

Dude at this point, you are such a blind optimist when it comes to supporting the current regime – that they could sign the actor who played Officer Doofy from Scary Movie 1 to be our starting edge rusher and you’d be on here praising Licht for making sensible signings.

  61. LakeLand Says:

The Buffalo Bills has signed QB A.J. McCarron. I doubt if they try to move up for a QB now.

  62. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @Lakeland

Interesting. I don’t know if A.J. McCarron would be considered a starter though.

  63. Greg Says:

These guys better start rushing Drew breeze now so that they can get there by the time September rolls around. Jason light is allergic to athletic lineman.

  64. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Blake_Bucsfan

Officer Doofy….I wish. After all the crying during the games last year, some smiling and laughter would be welcomed.

  65. SCBucsFan Says:

McCarron couldn’t beat an ineffective Palmer. He won’t stop them from drafting a QB.

  66. JimmyJack Says:

I don’t got any problems with them bringing in guys who can help us stop the run. Edge market is closed with big name guys. They better put som3 depth behind Ayers and Spence cause we all know what that got us.

They do need to add aplaymaker somewhere and I’m 30 hrs into a hunger strike waiting for it. I’m starting to lose all hope! PHUCKINg eh Bucs. What are you doing this to me?

  67. Oxycondoms Says:

this is one of those important decisions licht made at the winghouse

  68. BrianBucs Says:

Bucs signings so far look like they are assembling a 3-4 defense

  69. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Blake_Bucsfan Says
“Dude at this point, you are such a blind optimist when it comes to supporting the current regime…”

Is waiting to see all the off season moves considered blind optimism?

As depth, these signings work. They’re not suppose to last the team years. They are stopgaps at best.

Look at it this way…if the Bucs went after some big name DE or big name DT…then it would be less likely that they draft either in the first round, right? So this actually IS a good sign.

    See? Glass half full.

Whereas, assuming there is no plan and the season is over before the off season plays out…isn’t that Blind Negativity?

Doesn’t that make you guilty of the reverse of what you accuse me of?

  70. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Blind Optimism vs Blind Negativity

I’ll take the one that provides less stress at my age.

  71. JimmyJack Says:

I would love to see a Dline that could friggen stop somebody in goal line sets.

  72. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

No need to die of starvation YimmyYack.

Why don’t you run up to Publix and get yourself a nice Greenwise Porterhouse, maybe a Ribeye if thats your fancy. Treat yourself bro because it’s clear to me that Licht is going full bargain bin.

We might sign Jensen, which wouldn’t be so bad. So I guess there’s that, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

  73. LakeLand Says:

I didn’t say they wouldn’t draft a QB……I said this….I doubt if they try to MOVE up for a QB.

  74. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Yeah well how about just not being Blind Bonzai? Ever try that out?

If I recall correctly, your big kick around this time last year was that Derel Walker was going to be the Bucs 2nd best WR…

  75. IndianaBuc Says:

So these two guys are depth players before we sign Sue and the Badger right?

  76. Joeypoppems Says:

I think the Bills still try to move up. I dont think a 2 year deal with a back-up will stop them from getting the guy they like. McCarron could be competition tho.

  77. 2Anglican1609 Says:

You can plug in ANY DT in that line and you will still have the same problems and that’s GERALD MCFRAUD.

  78. Richbucsfan Says:

No improvement. Same team. Same mediocrity.

  79. MarineBucsFan Says:

    JAB83,

That’s actually a good point on the team maybe hitting the reset button. If that’s the case though come out and say so!!

  80. The Anomaly Says:

This is why we cancelled our seats.

    #glazerssuckthelifeoutofyou

  81. LifeOfABucFan Says:

I only came here for the comments..You guys didn’t disappoint..LMFAO!!!!

  82. Mike Johnson Says:

Joe..you say our latest addition has superbowl Experience? I’ve researched his track record as a DE. NOT GOOD. Hell, my nephew has superbowl experience is a vendor. He made 100 dollars that day…and got 2 free hotdogs and a coke! We should call our Bucs the..Shock troopers. Cause thats what you are gonna be come seasons end…,,6-10…SHOCKED!!!!!!

  83. JJBucfan Says:

Solid signings, does nothing but build depth. However, what we paid them is ridiculous. Not my money but it is Monopoly out there, McKinnon, a 3rd string running back just became either the 4th or 5th highest paid RB. Still waiting for Parker or Mathieu at S, unless we are leaning Fitzpatrick/James in the draft.
There is one CB left worth a damn and only in zone scheme. Okafor and Curry would be awesome. I’m starting to get worried about Jensen, the should have been done the second he stepped off the plane.

  84. SteveK Says:

    bonzai,

I hear ya brother! You be you! Your optimism is orginal and authentic. Be your best you! That’s what makes JBF.com the sheeeit! Great news, great reports, and hella awesome commenters. Arguing with you about the Bucs is one of my favorite pass times. Thanks again for not holding back!

  85. mark2001 Says:

Doosh….Licht has wasted a boatload of FA money on third rate players…and draft picks that were busts. Or didn’t you get the memo?

  86. JJBucfan Says:

I feel like the Bucs are trolling us

  87. cmurda Says:

Hey, if that’s what you get from that Doosh, have fun with that. We aren’t the Eagles or Patriots. We have serious needs on this team. These guys are good players but we need to drop some cash on some impact players that can change the dynamic of this team. Quinn and Trumaine Johnson fit that mold. With that said so does Suh and the Honey Badger.

  88. Northend Says:

Some of y’all are unreal. 3 hours into free agency and your freaking out because most of the big name overpaid players are getting snatched up by teams that will win the offseason but stay mediocre when it counts.

These dudes are trying to save their jobs and you do that by winning plain and simple. Not by making a fair weather fan base happy because they know a name u sign on fantasy football.
Relax, let’s see what tweaks and changes we make. This team is already better by subtraction and which young nucleous players we lock up.
After 1st,2nd and 3rd wave of fa and then draft.

I don’t agree with all the moves but let’s see Lichts plan play out before we go crazy.
    Just chill

  89. Defense Rules Says:

Licht is rebuilding the DLine from the inside out. Still don’t understand though why McDonald wasn’t re-signed. Dude had 5 sacks last year in a lot less snaps than GMC took to get his 6 sacks. Plus McDonald represents LEADERSHIP on a DLine that’s been lacking leadership.

  90. JimmyJack Says:

I’m not upset about these Dline additions. I’m down with any plan they have for addressing the Dline. My thought is they will do a lot more rotating.

It could be a nice approach with a line that spent a lot of time on the field last year and was gasping for breathe to end games. We still need DEs to do that so I’m waiting to see what they do at that position. And like I mentioned above if this line could stop anybody on third and 1 it would big difference from what we saw.

What I am upset about is not bringing in any difference makers. It doesn’t have to be on the Dline but they have let all the good rushers find new teams. The Oline market won’t last much longer and the CB is nearly gone. Over a decade and a half of losing and this team owes it to its fans to giv3 us something to be excited about in the offseason since they can’t do that on Sundays. I’m on hunger strike til they do nearly 31 hours now. Bucs are literally killing me!!

  91. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

Solid signings by Licht. For those skeptical, Allen and Unrein were graded one and two by PFF at stopping the run. Remember how helpless we felt when we let Adrian “Retirement Home” Peterson run us all the way back to Tampa? Still skeptical? Look no further than the team you know and love, the Tampa Bay Bucs. Think of how our offense suffers due to our lack of a run game. If we can shut down their run game, they become one dimensional, just like us, and they become easier to defend for a defense that already isn’t that good.

    See The Licht!!

  92. Issic haggins Says:

It’s amazing how real a dream or a Nighmare can seem !!!

    Free Agency starts tomorrow!!!

  93. Turn Off the Licht Says:

Alright boys, let’s mail ‘er in! Season’s over before it begins.

  94. LakeLand Says:

    JimmyJack,

    Only 31 hour fast

I once did a 10 day water fast

I often do 72 hour water fasts

I do a intermittent fasting everyday

18-6, eat during a 6 hour period, fast for 18 hours

  95. Shane247 Says:

    Organizational ineptitude!

  96. DanBucsFan Says:

Im with you Bonzai. So far we have added two big boys on the Dline. I hope we get Jensen as well at center. Might not be big names but hopefully they play hard and are no nonsense kind of guys, with a little bit of a mean streak. I am for sure looking forward to the upcoming season, and I believe we will be better, if we start fast with a few wins it can snowball very fast and turn some heads. GO BUCS FIRE THE CANNONS !!!!

  97. SOEbuc Says:

What time was Jensen’s plane getting in Joe?

  98. DB55 Says:

    ————–
The ice cream man felt threatened bc McDonald showed that McIceCream ain’t chit and that he could produce the same stats in half the snap and 1/4 of the pay. Bucs don’t wanna win but most importantly don’t want to expose the ice cream man.

  99. Dooshlarue Says:

I’m fine with signing the Badger. I think he would be a solid addition.

  100. Bucs Fan in WI Says:

    Crown us!

  101. DB55 Says:

Is anyone else planning on boycotting the season or is the status quo good enough for you guys?

Just gonna keep spending hundreds of dollars to bake your arse off in the sun whilst watching the Bucs get blown out by 20 points in the first half?

I guess as long as McIceCream makes another pro-bowl (lmao) its all good right?

  102. TexasStickCarrier Says:

And they raised ticket prices because why?

  103. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Hopefully, our run defense just got a whole lot better with these 2.

  104. SteveK Says:

    DB55,

It’s looking grim. I’m trying to keep the faith, but I just don’t see us getting a lot better without making some major moves.
I’ll still watch, but def not paying to see anything. This feels cheap, but I’m hopeful these moves yield a winning season

  105. bradinator Says:

Ok, I might be wrong, but typically 3-4 lineman are a big dudes. They are there to hold up folks from getting to the LBs etc. zThey also take up space and allow Von Miller-like Edge guiys to rush the QB. Are these guys a sign we might be running more of a 3-4 than 4-3? Big bodies are available, Edge DEs are not. Also there are some decent Edge guys in the draft. Maybe this is ther set-up to grab an Edge OLB to bolster the pass rush. They did start using Beckwith from that spot. We are also supposedly checking out Trent Murphy, 3-4 OLB. Something to think about.

  106. JimmyJack Says:

Lakeland….That may be good for you but I rarely go more then 4 waking hours without eating red meat. My body is not used to this type of treatment and I’m already going in and out of consciousness. I’m on hunger strike until the Bucs sign an immediate help to this team. Not backups or rotational guys or camp kickers…..31 hours strong.

    PHUCK you Bucs!!!

  107. LakeLand Says:

I don’t see the Buffalo Bills trading with the Bucs to move up to 7. They have the 12th pick now, and they just signed a QB. I think they will do either…..

Stay at 12 and draft a QB

Move up to 2 and draft a QB

I don’t see the purpose of moving from 12 to 7

Why risk the chance of losing your QB between 2-7?

  108. Bird Says:

Jensen was in Tampa at 530 pm.

    Colts are other team interested.

However I just went on colts website. They have a starting center in Ryan Kelly that they like. They were bringing in jensen as back up? Maybe move to guard ?

Jensen comes to bucs first which is his choice. Think deal gets done with bucs. Wasn’t aware colts had starter.

  109. Bobby M. Says:

So glad we got run stuffers for when we face Matt Ryan, Drew Brees and Cam Newton 2x this year…..I’m sure those team fear being forced to throw against our 22 sack d-line and Hargreaves or Smith lined up anywhere.

  110. Walter Says:

    Ugh.

“What the hell is goin’ on out here!”

  111. Todd Says:

    Hurt the glazers cancel tickets

  112. Birdman Says:

8.5 mil spent of players that have more years in the league than sacks between them..

  113. JimmyJack Says:

DB55….I planned on going to a game in December this year and when I saw this team play with one of the most unmotivated heartless efforts I can remember at home vs Carolina I decided that I was not going to pay for that garbage.

I’m not going this year eithe4 unless they show any promise. First time in a long time I didn’t go to a game in a season……But I’m still counting it as year 8 in which I haven’t witnessed a home win. Next year may just be year nine. Anybody that doesn’t like the name Den of Depression can bite me. The team has no pride.

  114. Buccaneer scotty Says:

I hope we get Jensen don’t let him leave without a deal!

  115. LakeLand Says:

Ryan Jensen will sign with the Bucs

Because the Bucs will overpay for him

  116. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

who? with that much guaranteed money I’d much rather have brought in as many undrafted college pass rushers and sift through them. Wasting that money on a 30 year old never has been is mind boggleling.

  117. Nybucsfan Says:

Bucs new players have started 4 more games than JOE!!!!

  118. JimmyJack Says:

Great, just friggen great. If They were signing Jensen tonight it would be out there by now.

Guess I’m going hungry another night. Screw you Bucs!!!

  119. SCBucsFan Says:

LL, we have to overpay. Losing teams do, that’s a simple fact.

  120. Dooshlarue Says:

Still think GMC won’t get dealt somewhere else guys?

  121. DB55 Says:

I saw this team play with one of the most unmotivated heartless efforts I can remember at home vs Carolina
    ————————-
How about the Thursday night blow-out vs the Falcons. Pathetic

  122. DB55 Says:

If they trade gmc I will not Boycott. But that won’t happen.

  123. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

    Lakeland

I am 100% fine with that if that means bringing talent to Tampa. In the immortal words of Tmax, “FEAR LOSING NOT THE SALARY CAP”

  124. @Broy3434 Says:

Okafor Jensen Gaines/Claiborne beau. Look through the archives. Called it yesterday. There’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing if they get Okafor and one of those two corners.

  125. @Broy3434 Says:

Can’t wait til they sign one of these corners and Okafor and after the draft when they land Minkah Chubb or Barkley and everyone’s gonna go nuts

  126. LakeLand Says:

I have never attended a Buc game…I had free tickets a few times. But I didn’t think they was worth the gas fare to drive from Lakeland to Tampa.

  127. Bird Says:

    Okafor visiting tomorrow

His old dline coach here so good chance.

They need to check that Achilles

  128. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I am with Bonzai and the rest of the level headed people who aren’t ready to freak out this early in the process.

Some of you crying fans must be aromatizing pretty hard. Going to have to get a bra soon.

  129. SCBucsFan Says:

I don’t care if they trade GMC as long as they get back something better then a mid 2

  130. Walter Says:

Trade Jameis too while you’re at it that way the next coach can have his own quarterback instead of being forced to ride the Jameis Roller Coaster Extravaganza and hope it ends well.

  131. ATrain Says:

Yall think Licht is doing this

    NOOOO

    GLAZERS WANT TO LOSE

    Crazy you say

If the attendance falls below a level they can get the NFL to move them to a bigger market

  132. Eric Says:

The 72 Dolphins had a no name defense….

    Trying to stay positive.

  133. Rod Munch Says:

Hey Joe, I think your website is broken, I keep hitting refresh to see those big FA signings and I don’t see anything. Today at 4pm was the beginning of FA right?

  134. Rrsrq Says:

Jay Hayes has to be wondering where we’re these signings when he was the defensive line coach

  135. LakeLand Says:

It’s time to fight for the leftovers

    And overpay for the Bums

  136. Duke Says:

    Doosh,

If you didn’t notice it’s 2018. Sheeple is from 2000 you may as well say far out or groovy. Find a delorean, set the year for 2018 , get with it.

Go with dilly dilly that’s as lame as your takes.

  137. Rod Munch Says:

Duke – What about pekka, with the double k?

  138. BrianBucs Says:

Still looking like they are preparing to play A LOT of 3-4 defense

  139. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah DB55…..You can also argue the following game to that Car game in New Orleans. Or how about the epic choke to the Raiders or to the Skins? What about getting physically beaten to a pulp with a playoff berth on the line to both Cowboys and Saints back to back? Blowouts to Arizona come to mind……I rememer the Rams coming into our house two years ago touting one of the worst offenses in the history of th3 league only to drum us fo, I don’t know 500 yards and over 35, I had the pleasure of wasting my money on that one.

It’s not about that one loss to the Panthers…..That loss was just my boiling point. It’s pretty dang on sad when that long list above is all from the last two seasons…..Go back further and you could write a novel. This team is just such a PHUCKING embarrassment.

It’s cool to want to be optimistic. But don’t condone negativity. It’s not unfounded.

Here’s my take I might be wrong cuz wtfdik but if the Bucs had been competitive for more than 1 season in the last 10 then yea you’re right we’re over-reacting but they haven’t and every year it’s the same chit.

So you suggest just blindly supporting the regime no matter how pitiful every move they make is?

It’s one thing to have 1 or 2 bad seasons but 1 or 3 bad decades is a bit much don’t you think? Signing 1 decent pass rusher would have avoided this meltdown.

To add insult to injury they raise ticket prices and complain that there’s too many away jerseys in the bottom bowl, well no chit Sherlock.

  141. DB55 Says:

    Jimmy

    Preach brother Preach!

  142. ATrain Says:

Alaskan you said freak out EARLY in the process????

    Who is Left???

Sorry but we missed the Bus the big FA are gone

The only players left are the Practice Players but I’m sure there is a 10 Sack DE on a practice squad hahha

You must be a Glazier Cousin

  143. Buc believer Says:

@Attain…. you do know the Tampa Bay Area is the nations 13th largest market don’t you? That means there are only 12 bigger than we are. No they are not looking to move they are just dumb arses who don’t know how to hire the right people to run the team.

  144. Kansas95Buc Says:

am i the only one laughing my ass off on these comments lol? like granny tell me, some time you gotta laugh to keep from crying

  145. Duke Says:

    Rod,

    Lol,……why not!

  146. John meeks Says:

Looks to me like our GM is working on our depth,no big names but improving the depth of the team.im gonna just watch this all play out and then make a decision if they know what the hell they are doing.i must say I am very concerned!

  147. ATrain Says:

Believer the size of the city is only one factor
Green Bay is a small market however there is a waiting list for tickets

Would it not benefit the Glazer to have teams I the same country

The NFL has looked at a London Team

The Bucs haven’t filled their stadium in how many years
Hell the Giants game was an away game more Giants fans

  148. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

My question is wtf happened to signing EJ Gaines? Don’t tell me Licht is content to leave Ryan Smith as a starter in a Division with Julio Jones catching passes from Matt Ryan, and Micheal Thomas catching passes from Drew Brees.

  149. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Okafor on his way for a visit?

  150. donuts Says:

Why does it feel like the Bucs opening FA day ended with a whimper?

  151. donuts Says:

    Bad Achilles Okafor? Great….

  152. John meeks Says:

This to me is pointing in one direction! He isn’t trading up for Chubb with the holes on this team!folks, our GM is gonna draft a defensive end!He is gonna take Marcus Davenport!you heard it here!!

  153. JonBuc Says:

Bucs are like the football version of the movie Major League. If they drive the attendance down enough they can move the team to London with the kickball team. I say do it. After a few years and multiple sympathy votes…bring in the expansion Bandits with Eddie DeBartolo large & in charge.

  154. DB55 Says:

bring in the expansion Bandits with Eddie DeBartolo large & in charge.

Yes please and I’ll be first in line for season tickets.

    JimmyJack,

    Only 31 hour fast

I once did a 10 day water fast

I often do 72 hour water fasts

I do a intermittent fasting everyday

18-6, eat during a 6 hour period, fast for 18 hours

You DO realize that kills brain cells, right?
    OH, never mind…

  156. JAB83 Says:

Dont forget the FA period when the roster cuts happen before the season. Good chance we pick up a DE, RB or CB or make trade (D-Jax anyone?)

  157. Rod Munch Says:

I have a Bandits plate on the front of my ’82 Corvette, it’s quite an awesome little extra touch.

  158. firethecannons Says:

Found an article on Unrein–good read and recent too
    https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/in-the-shadows-unsung-mitch-unrein-big-part-of-resurgent-bears-d/

  159. JonBuc Says:

You lost me at resurgence Bears…

  160. John meeks Says:

Well with the defensive tackle position of this team now as far as numbers go,the vita vea people on here can damn sure know that the bucs aren’t drafting him!

  161. JonBuc Says:

At 7…a panicked reach at a DE or CB….Denver will have received a lucrative trade package at 5 ( where the Bucs should be…why Jamies did you defy The Dirk?! 😉 )…the Jets will snag the final top QB or someone the Bucs wanted ( Chubb ?). Licht’s Out will declare victory by claiming “he got his guy”.

  162. John meeks Says:

    Joe,anything new on jenson??

  163. gp Says:

Don’t count on Suh playing next to McCoy
We can’t have two 93’s playing on the same team
    One or the other
    Which would you choose?

  164. John meeks Says:

Jimmyjack, slow down my man!Lets let this all play out and the draft to then make our decision on the season.trades can still happen to!I’m concerned to but let’s see this thing play out before going on strike!

  165. JimmyJack Says:

And I apoligize for my cussing and raging rants. But this team has me boiled over, again. I like to consider myself a calm poster tha5 is usually reasonable and sensible. But yesterday broke me and I hav3 come unglued.

Once this team gets me eating again I should be just fine….My head is just so full of rage with this team. I’m actually starting to see spots. I can’t handl3 this Free agency stuff……Taking my vacation during this week next year.

  166. John meeks Says:

    Lee Roy selmon,we miss you!

  167. Bossmode Says:

Wow this is horrible we keep spending money on this bench member

  168. D-Rome Says:

    Totally confident, right guys?

  169. Skoorb43 Says:

Someone let me know when they sign someone who you can actually buy their jersey

  170. JimmyJack Says:

John, thanks but my hunger strike started yesterday. I’m not eating until this team makes a solid upgrad3 to one of their starting positions.

Rotational players, depth players and camp kickers don’t count. Sad thing is the list is getting shorter by th3 hour.

  171. John meeks Says:

Jimmyjack, no need to apologize, we all are sick of losing!you owe no one an apology!

  172. JimmyJack Says:

This sucks balls…..I am so hungry. Waited up past bedtime just to see if the Bucs would ease my pain.

PHUCK YOU Bucs!!! My hunger strike was decided so that I can show you that not only does your awful team hurt it’s fans mentally but also physically. We care, you don’t. Blow me Bucs!!

    Good nite fans

  173. Pickgrin Says:

Hey – at least he plays DE. That’s something – right?

  174. Todd Says:

This franchise is terrible enjoy losing the gm job at the end of the year Jason

  175. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Looks like the Hensen signing is all but over. Just need to put pen to paper. I genuinely like this signing. The guys is NASTY. Also allows Marpet to go back to G. Idk about our LG situation (Nelson any1)? That interior line would be one of the best in the league. We could run on any1, keep the horrible defense off the field.

  176. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Jensen ^^^^

  177. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @Pickgrin

Lol my dude he plays 3-4 DE. Don’t think he’ll be doing much of anything other than 2 gapping and eating up space.

  178. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Real Talk – I didn’t think the Bears, would let this young man walk.
Sure he’s late bloomer – but the kid can play.

    Good Signing IMO.

  179. Chris in WA Says:

Who knows if any of the four Draft prospects (Chubb, Barkley, Nelson, Fitzpatrick) will fall to the Bucs after FA. It looks like a lot of the QB needy teams ahead of the Bucs addressed QB today in someway.

Can they draft rookie QB’s to sit on the bench and learn the playbook? Yes but I lose more and more hope each day that Nelson will be available in the draft, much less Barkley or Chubb. I doubt 3 or 4 QB’s go in the top 10 like “analysts” have been saying for the past few months.

  180. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Now that i’ve downed a few brews, and had some time to unwind and relax, the signings we’ve made have not been the worst. And it would be silly to declare this season lost already.

But I would also say that these signings also do very little other than adding some level of depth, and inspire little to no confidence.

  181. JonBuc Says:

    JimmyJack…this reminds me of the old Snicker’s commercial “Gonna Be A While”? ( enjoy a Snicker’s) Seriously…

  182. Eric Says:

How can you do something your entire working life and be so horrible at your job? This is a question for Jason Licht. Fire all these bums top to bottom! Sell the team and move the phuck out of here!
    #KanKoetter
    #LynchLicht
    #BOYCOTTtheBucs

  183. Eric Says:

Oh and take the other horrible franchise posing as a MLB team with you!

  184. Dave Says:

Okafer will be signed tomorrow too!

Couple run stuffers to free up McCoy and a bona ride pass rusher.

Sign honey badger and PLEASE get Bradley Chubb and Sony Michel in the draft

  185. Rod Munch Says:

Okafor has a history of injury issues, but perhaps he can get with Spence and they can plan on being injured at different times.

But Okafor would be a good signing – but the Saints want him back so the Bucs will most likely have to overpay to get him.

  186. NFLNut Says:

    LAKELAND,

I think Bills trade up to 3 … McCarron is garbage imho

  187. Blackmagic00 Says:

Thinking a 5 man line with Spence, McCoy, Vea, Suh and Ayers, our 3 freak linebackers, Honey Badger, Grimes and Evans would be a great defense. We have the depth for it too. We could mix some 43 and 34 with our new hybrid 53. Or maybe I just should leave the beer out of the shower?

  188. LakeLand Says:

    Life of a Bottom Feeder

  189. denjoe Says:

This team is still a dumpster fire! freaking idiots!

  190. Blackmagic00 Says:

Our fan base is a dumpster fire too! Just sayin

  191. Matt Says:

Definitely looks like they are going to more of a 3-4 front . Maybe that means they are going to go after 3-4 OLB/pass rushers in the draft? Marcus Davenport, Tremain Edmonds, Harold Landry (my favorite), Josh Sweat. If we go that direction it opens our opinions to bolster our pass rush big time.

  192. LakeLand Says:

I didn’t know the Bucs had a fan base.

  193. Matt Says:

    Options not opinions

  194. Destinjohnny Says:

W sign suh and draft Chubb
    Out d line is sorted
Then we can unleash Tandy and vh3.5
Hey at least we won the super bowl

  195. Blackmagic00 Says:

I’m part of the very small almost positive fan base. Always will be.

  196. Jonzey17 Says:

Who is this guy 2 1/2 sacks last year not good come on Bucs

  197. Max Says:

Guys these beefy Dlinemen point to one thing, OUR LINEBACKERS ARE GONNA BE NASTY!! CLEAN LANES!!
