Another person that doesn’t understand the salary cap?

Licht didn’t just choose a 3rd round pick over Robert Quinn; he chose $12mil in cap space AND a 3rd round pick over Quinn and that was the right choice imho!

With $12mil and a 3rd round pick Licht could sign Kony Ealy AND Carlos Hyde AND then use the 3rd round pick on a stud DT like Derrick Nnandi.

If you want to think that Robert Quinn would help this team win more games than Ealy + Hyde + Nnandi would I think you’re nuts …

  2. zwh99 Says:

People are taking this Robert Quinn trade way too seriously. Free agency starts next week and some are already giving up. Wait until after free agency and the draft, then you can freak out all you want.

It’s not just about the Quinn trade its a pattern over the last 16 years without a single meaningful win or 11 years without a single meaningful game…. No one is overreacting people are no longer willing to give free passes. Glazers have rendered Tampa bay buccaneers the least desirable location in nfl for players coaches and front office personnel.

No hopec4-12… FEAR LOSING NOT THE CAP

There is no way that the stick quitters make it to the second game before they are chanting to fire everyone!!!!!!

And these are the so-called hardcore fans???????

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Bold moves” vs. “Stupid Moves”? All hindsight, right?

  6. Joe Says:

    Nut:

The salary cap cry is not an issue. You cite $12 million a year as why the Bucs should not have acquired Quinn. You seem to overlook the Glazers paid $19 million (between three players) last year for 2.5 sacks. Now which is worse?

If Quinn comes in, it is very likely Will Gholston is toast. That’s $6.5 million off the books right there.

  7. NFLNut Says:

    JOE,

I disagree with you entirely. You believe that Quinn is more valuable than TWO starters AND a 3rd round pick and I do not.

You stating that the team could cut Gholston if they got Quinn is irrelevant as that doesn’t change the fact that for $12mil and the 3rd round pick the Bucs could THREE starters instead of just Quinn.

I’d be fine seeing Gholston cut but his $6.5mil could be used on a starting DT like Star Lotuleilei or a RB like Carlos Hyde … it has nothing to do with Quinn being worth three starters.

  8. NFLNut Says:

Quinn or Ealy, Boston and a 3rd round Anthony Averett? I take the latter.

Gholston or Lotulelei? I take the latter.

Gimme Ealy+Boston+Lotuleilei+Averett or Quinn and Gholston any day.

And NO it doesn’t matter if Ealy signs elsewhere, it’s the principle that matters as there are many other free agents … the principle is that Quinn is NOT worth two starters and a 3rd rounder to me.

  9. Andrew Says:

UH If this team sucks again we won’t be paying Jameis Winston, Mike Evans, Ali Marpet, Donavon Smith, Kwon, Ect as much as people think. So let’s focus on building a winner first.
