Social media strikes: Lots of smoke, no fire.
Joe’s going to keep this simple.
There’s a roughly six-second, unsourced Instagram video floating around the Internet that appears to be of Vernon Hargreaves smoking something in silence. And a lot of people are making a big deal about it assuming it’s marijuana.
Joe will not.
It might not be Hargreaves. It might be two years old. If the NFL is going to investigate this, then Joe assumes it will take at least six months, considering there are other investigations in the queue.
NFL analyst Tim Brown, no not the former Bucs fair-catch punt returner, posted a copy of the video in question on his Twitter feed. The video was originally posted on a fake Hargreaves Instagram account that has since been deactivated.

If I were you, I would ask Joe to delete that comment. There have been lawsuits successfully made against people that post that sort of thing online. Easy to track you down with an IP address, and they can get it with a court order, giving Joe no choice but to provide it. And believe me…he has access to it.

There is a lot I do not understand about some of the mistakes of today’s players.
Smoking weed is not the problem as everybody here has agreed…abusing it not so good…just like booze and ciggies or too much bacon. I’ve done all three to excess at different points in my life. LOL But I was never a professional athlete.
I think as far as the pics…remember Michael Phelps…the athlete doesn’t necessarily plan it or even improve but if you’re at a pot party with EVERY person there equipped with a hand held camera in their cell phone somebody is going to take pics especially if your a famous athlete.
I hear you though Hawaiian. Just like Fameis’s Arizona adventure. If I was a multimillionaire…famous celebrity…I would never go out drinking or partying without a bodyguard/driver. Millions of dollars made before you’re 30 provides a nice life. You can stay stoned from 30 on.

It’s an issue if Heargraves can’t live up to the billing as the 11th overall pick. If he balls out, plays well, and the team does well the we are good to go.
If Heargraves gets toasted on and off the field this year, then there is a problem and time to cut bait.

The CBs playing 10 yards off was Mike Smiths inability to make in game adjustments and a lack of of communication between coach and coordinator. Mike Smith puts his corners at 10 yards off because he runs Lovie Smiths conservative “bend but dont break” defense, which ultimately is based off fear. Fear of giving up the big play and fear that a blitz wont work, etc. Both coaches on both side up the ball need to loosen up and play WAY more aggressive.
The Bucs defense doesn’t strike fear in opponents, we strike fear in ourselves.
PS- Mike Smith, why dont you come down from that comfortable, air conditioned press box and coach a little? Obviously its not working. The press box eye in the sky view is predominately for offensive cordinators. Never saw Matt Patricia in a press box, he always wanted to be down on the field with his players.
I hope this changes with coach Buckner but the Bucs do not have a true leader on the defense as a coach to be on the field with them throughout

a game….and were still waiting for a true leader to step up among the players on that side of the ball. If you watch the patriots, Bill Belichick and Matt Patricia are always talking to the the defense on the sidelines to help guide them through the complexities of the game. Who did the Bucs have to do that last year? NOBODY. Jay Hayes was to quiet and soft spoken for that and Dirk Koetter is an offensive coach.
So Mike Smith if you want to bring some wins to Tampa Bay, get down from that press box and into the Florida humidity.

LOL, you act like we are a winning franchise. We are basement dwellers, and our CB situation, outside of Grimes, is absolutely putrid. I don’t care if it was a fake account, what I do care about is that was the real VH3 in the video. The same CB we drafted 11th overall, and has failed to live up to expectations.
I care if this defense goes out and gets torched again with another last place finish. I care if Vernon plays 20 yards off the ball, again, and gets toasted next season.
Bottom line, if VH3 balls out this year then the “who cares” argument applies. If VH3 comes out and gives up the Buccaneer Booty early and often, then we have a major effing problem.

Our society is still wack when it comes to weed. So if you fill out the paperwork for Medical Marijuana( a friend told me about it LOL) you’ll see the bold letters.
While this is for the State of Florida it’s against U.S. Federal law.
So we now have a dozen or so states with various levels of legality for marijuana and the Feds still have it as a crime.
Weed has always been about politics. It was way down the schedule for bad drugs until Nixon moved it all the way up to Level One like heroin or crack cocaine. He did this to get even with the pot smoking hippies who protested HIS war.
Now we have a pinheaded little cracker who must have had his lunch money taken from him every day at school…tiny little Jefferson Beauregard Sessions who is ready to take that Federal power and try to bust all the “legal” citizens in states where weed is legal.
How is that going to work out. Given the bureaucracy now set up in Tallahassee…Doctors who have paid to get certified….Patients who have forked over their $75. Add in that Americans support legal pot by a significant majority.
Why is little Jeffey wasting all this time and Federal money? I’ve just mentioned Florida…Michigan…and of course California…Colorado….sorry little Jeffey…no tiny little cracker is going to turn this tide. As I said weed has always been about politics. Too many supporters out there now.

I would wager about 60 to 80% of all NFL’ers smoke Weedl They do it for pain relief. And if you have played in the NFl for a yr or more..You do have pain. A HS friend of mine who played with the Jets for 10 yrs told me, Just about all NFl players smoke weed. So I got no problem with it. Just not in Public. Besides Once Uncle Sugar (sam) figures out how to get his healthy slice of taxes from it, marijuana will probably be legal everywhere. its time has come. Like it or not.

Yup, the one that the government can’t make money on but the few states that have it legal for recreational use have figured it out. Who benefits the most you might ask? The children and schools.
