Joe Thomas Lauds GMC

February 2nd, 2018

Talks after-football goal.

High praise from one of the greatest.

Yesterday, Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy made his way around the food court at the Mall of America radio row at the Super Bowl LII media center and was heard on various radio, internet, podcast and television platforms.

On something called “Uninterrupted,” co-hosted by legendary Browns left tackle Joe Thomas, both Thomas and GMC talked about their preseason wars. Thomas noted that it seems the Bucs and Browns always play in preseason.

But then Thomas, who has tangled with his fair share of defensive linemen in his years, told GMC he has the best first-step of any lineman he has seen in his 11-year career.

“It was always about the get-off,” Thomas told GMC.

Thomas also said that the week before the Browns would face the Bucs, Browns guards would lose 10 pounds in the preceding days they were so freaked out about facing GMC.

Pretty interesting interview and the complete video is below. GMC admitted after his playing days are over, he wants to get into acting and his goal is to play the role of a villain.

This is my top GMC play and he made it against the Browns.

  2. Chris in WA Says:

Joe Thomas has never been to the playoffs or won a meaningful game. Clearly he was a locker room cancer and the reason for the Browns losing culture.

    /sarcasm

    🙂

  4. NFLNut Says:

JT’s great and going to the HOF … but the Browns should have traded him a year or more ago … they waited too long and we may be doing the same with GMC …

  5. Wiscobucsfan Says:

How would the browns be any better if they traded the best tackle in the league a year or two ago?

  6. Ndog Says:

That is his problem and what people don’t seem to get. His get off is one of the best ever for his position but what else does he bring? He doesn’t finish and didn’t in college, which was why I was not thrilled when they drafted him. He doesn’t use power except for like 3 plays a year. He doesn’t show great effort or determination. His hands are average for getting off blocks. He is a one trick pony that more times than not teams use that one trick against him to let him take himself out of the play. This guy gets more love from having one good trait than anyone in NFL history. This is the equivalent to saying Alvin Harper was an elite WR cause he great going deep. ONE TRICK PONY!!!! And the sad thing is everyone will tell you yet people completely ignore it! You never hear people say he’s a warrior, undenied, rentlentless, or passionate. All they ever say is man that get off is great and that he’s a game wrecker. What they aren’t telling you is that he wrecks games alright but it is for OUR coaching staff cause his get off and run byes often create huge holes that are impossible to fill.

Tmaxcon’s testicles just seized up like a slug sprinkled with table salt.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Good morning, Tmax….wake up.

  9. Buc believer Says:

OMG!!! Joe is really bringing the full court GMC press on here. It seems every other piece is on how someone else not on the team LOVES Batman. Geez Hoe you have two real teams you could talk about or since this IS a blog about the Bucs there are over 50 guys and add the coaches you could talk about. Batman is just not a stopper and he certainly isn’t elite like your trying to say.

  10. Bob in Valrico Says:

Playing Dt in the tackle in the Nfl meets my definition of a warrior. He has only missed 5 games in the last 6 years and played hurt in others. And the getoff also
helped him get 13 tackles for a loss, 47 tackles,33 of which were solo.
Comparing a WR that tried to avoid contact with a defensive lineman that
whose position requires contact on every play is a poorly thought out argument.

  11. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

GREAT first step, too bad he can’t finish.

  12. Dooshlarue Says:

Hate GMC but love all the positive articles Joe.
Hopefully it means a higher draft pick for his imminent trade!

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

I love this “trade him” talk. You diminish his worth but then beg for a trade. What do you geniuses think you’ll get for such a terrible player?!
Regardless, he’s not going to fetch this windfall everybody predicts. GMC will most likely retire a Buc, so you might as well embrace the guy. I mean he is a Buc, right?!

  14. Dooshlarue Says:

    I’d be ecstatic with a 5th rounder.

  15. Walter Says:

Lol all the fools on here acting like they know more than a FUTURE HALL OF FAMER like Joe Thomas. 🤣

  16. El_Buc941 Says:

Ppl say Thomas and McCoy are lcker room illnesses because they never won a super bowl or fail to get their teams to the last February game…..Dan Marino never won a super bowl…lol.

  17. tmaxcon Says:

Great first step to nowhere has never translated to success. Team will never win or compete for a championship ship with mentally weak overrated career loser wearing the C… 8 years and counting and all the cryin clown has accomplished are meaningless pro bowls and a permanent residency in the nfc south basement.

  18. tmaxcon Says:

Gmc is the nfl version of Richard Simmons

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

No way would I trade GMC for a 5th. If that’s all you could get for him, no way. That’d be the equivalent of trading him for Freddie Martino.
    Face it, he’s a Buc……for life! Mwah-ha-ha-ha!!!

  21. Hodad Says:

The smiling clown looking for a microphone, what else is new. Speaking of Gerry’s get off that’s what I’d like him to do, get off the team!! Can’t you Gerry lovers see he’s nothing but a media hound? Hanging out at the S.B. looking for an interview, go home, and play with your dolls!

  22. Bucsfanman Says:

^^^Wow, aren’t you just the life of the party!!! Maybe you should root for a different team since the medication clearly doesn’t work!
Know what? I am not going to let you kill-joys ruin my Friday with this stupidity. GMC is a Buc and I am a Buc fan.
    Go Bucs!

  23. Ed Says:

Browns have a ton of draft picks how about hiring Joe and Thomas as their GM so he can trade for Gerald all those draft picks

  24. Iowadude Says:

I’m glad to finally read some comments that make sense. GMC sucks!!! He has a quick first step?! Woo hoo. Future hall of famers praise his talent! Woo Hoo. Fact is 1) he has never played on a line with fewer than 2 pro bowlers, and 2) he is NEVER double teamed. Since he was drafted, the Bucs D line has been widely praised as being full of top tier talent, yet GMC under performs. Man, thank you guys for your genius comments.

  25. 813bucboi Says:

joe thomas’ HOF resume sure has a ton of “L’s” on it……I really never understood the benefit of keeping him so long…..they’ve lost countless amount of games and they’ve never had a QB for him to protect…..but it is what it is…..Jt is a beast…..

regarding GMC, yeah the first step is wicked quick but when he shoots the gap the RB run right behind him and the RB is off to the 2nd level just as fast as GMC’s first step…..his first step would be more effective if he fired off, held the point of attack and shed the block…..but I guess that’s too much like playing DT…..

    NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  26. Lamarcus Says:

GMC is overrated dumpster Doo Doo

GMC averages 1 sack per 134 snaps when he on the field. That’s called greatness. 😂😂😂

  27. Lamarcus Says:

I doubt we haven’t put good players around him or coaches. Gmc is a 3 tech and 3 tech only. So there u have it

GMC reign is over. It’s time for him to go

  28. Pickgrin Says:

Joe’s really dishing out the troll-bait here lately.

Eat it up kiddies – and don’t forget to contribute that zinger of an anti-Gerald post so the jbf world can see how smart you really are…

  29. SB Says:

Hey Tmaxi………Chris in WA just WASTED you and your idiotic line of thinking

Post of the Day easily Chris

  30. Lamarcus Says:

Some other buc website also believe GMC is nothing much but a “media whore” anyway. I believe that too.

  31. Bucsfanman Says:

@Pickgrin- LOL! He’s been serving it up this week boy!

  32. ATrain Says:

    Hey Joe

Do you win a prize or lunch with GMC for blowing him up so much

    Man please
I haven’t seen a man’s butt kissed so much since …….. Well I’ve never seen a man’s butt kissed this much

Does GMC own stock in Joes web site or give him entry into the lockerroom

    Or is JOE really GMC…,,,,,

Come on man be truthful call both sides
GMC is not perfectYou can’t say he had no flaws

Joe calls everyone else out for bad play EXCEPT GMC

    WHY

  33. Bucsfanman Says:

ATrain- What’s up dude?! Not for nothing but, there has been an awful lot of GMC articles of late. I know we don’t see eye-to-eye but you do have a point. Just sayin’.

  34. unbelievable Says:

Well played Chris… well played indeed.

  35. ATrain Says:

    Bucs Fan

I don’t think we are too far apart

    GMC is a Good DT
He is the better on our line when he plays at Top Speed he is one of the BEST

But he doesn’t. He takes plays off. He gets pushed down the line
He is not a True leader
