Improved Hands

January 28th, 2018

Fewer drops.

Well, there was one thing the Bucs improved on last year.

The Bucs are pretty good at catching the ball. Buried in an item about hocus pocus regarding adjusted completion percentage, was an item the PFF tribe had about Buccaneers receivers. Per their stats — Joe is OK with most of their stats, but not their grades — the Bucs had just 16 drops from receivers in 2017, which the PFF tribe says was the fifth-best in the NFL.

Just another example of why Joe believes offensive coordinator/receivers coach Todd Monken knows what he is doing.

    Savage Mike= Galvatron

  2. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Some of this can be attributed to Godwin, I don’t recall him doing but maybe one pass this year. Oh and DJax, he helped this out by just not getting to adjust to balls all season.

Todd Monken gets the credit for this? This is something even talked about improving to off-seasons ago and he did for the most part. We simply have recovered who can catch the ball which is why he doesn’t get credit for d Jack having good hands when he actually tries to catch the ball

You want credit for something Todd Monken hi out there and teach Mike Evans how to get yards after the catch

Mike Evans biggest problem is YAC. That’s the area where the WR makes his living. Aka Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Michael Irwin, Antonio Brown, Julio Jones etc.

  5. Mike Johnson Says:

I’d setle for some improved….WINS!! And a Defense who can stop somebody. Hell…ANYBODY!!!

  6. SB Says:

It seems as if Indy is going to name Josh McDaniels their HC right after the SB. This is good news for us I think because JMD will undoubtedly go Barkley being an offensive Coach. Chubb has a much better chance of being there IMO

Get Godwin off of special teams!

Mike Evans top 5 in the game. Extend him now. AJ Green contract.

    Humphries will continue to improve.

Desean Jackson is amazing. Jameis needs to improve his long ball.

OJ Howard, Cameron Brate, Frenchy Auclair- best trio of young TE’s in Bucs history.

    Freddie Martino. Shouldn’t dress.

None of our WR’s should play special teams.

Carry an extra safety or LB instead.

  8. Kobe Faker'Girl Says:

Trade MEME Evans, the most overrated player in the NFL, for a 2nd round

MEMEs contract is going to be the worst contract in the NFL

2019 Joe Fillippo offense will run thru Godwin and OJ Howard

    Kandy Faker

  9. Rod Munch Says:

Todd Monken was just promoted to full-time OC… yet Dirk says he will continue to call the plays.

No idea what that means or how it’s any different than what they’re doing now.

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I think PFF is off on that number.

I’m not giving Monken credit for much really. It was pretty easy to see that Evans was getting into more and more trouble with pass interference infractions.

Anybody who didn’t see this coming was pretty stupid but last year was pure evidence of a problem that, apparently, went unaddressed. No, I’m not a coach but you can’t convince me that Monken couldn’t have fixed this with technique training.

This who coaching staff is just not proactive and does not seem to address problems until they become major issues. I’ll give Monken some props when he fixes this problem but even then I won’t be very proud of it wondering what took him so long.

    Whole* not who

  13. Andrew Says:

Less drops because we have better WRs. Remember weapons for winston? Monken sucks! Run game, penalties at bad times. Execution was terrible.

  14. Bucnjim Says:

Two TE’s and a slot receiver who rarely drop a pass drastically help those stats.
