More Mocking (Honoring?) Of Jameis Winston

December 4th, 2017

Remember when a couple of Lions, including Matthew Stafford, took shots at America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, for his finger-sucking W antics before the Bucs were blown out by the Saints?

Well, now a Super Bowl winner has joined the party.

After the Ravens beat the Lions yesterday, winning quarterback Joe Flacco sucked his fingers in Jameis-W-eating style before his postgame news conference.

Flacco did a good job (video below). Joe might think Flacco was honoring Jameis, but he went on to say he was dared to do it before the game and “had to” make good on the dare. So yeah, he was mocking Jameis.

Joe sure hopes when the Bucs book one day is closed on Jameis, the finger-sucking is not what everyone remembers first.

At least Mariota wouldn’t have embarrassed us.

  2. Buddy Says:

Who said he’s “America’s Quarterback”?? YOU Joe??? So that makes it correct??
You were wrong in the Winning Coach for Klueless Koetter. Now you’re wrong on this one too. Just call him his name.

  3. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @OrlandoJoe

Marcus Mariota has a top 5 Oline, a top 10 running game, a bunch of weapons. And currently has thrown more Interceptions than Touchdowns in 2017. Plus he’s constantly hurt.

Pretty embarrassing if you ask me.

  4. C eh N eh D eh Says:

embarrassment MVP, turning Tampa into a big joke…lets see a Jameis confidence poll…Troll him the f**k outta here!

  5. OrlandoJoe Says:

Average NFL quarterback. Big off field issues. Let’s go get Teddy Bridgewater or draft someone new in April.

  6. MadMax Says:

Oh boy…yeah, another reminder of that retardo antic (he has many)

Unfortunately thats what he’s probably going to be most remembered for (well amongst groping an uber driver)

Just make plans to move on from JW#3.

  7. AlteredEgo Says:

draft Drew Lock……ThunderDome….2 men enter …one man stands in 2020

  8. tmaxcon Says:

    Blake_Bucsfan

come on now sir these guys hate jameis for other reasons than football. they will not understand the facts you present.

jameis is far from perfect but he will go down as the most important buc of all time.

  9. tmaxcon Says:

    orlandojoe

jameis has been falsely accused twice by cleat chasing gold diggers that is a societal problem not a jameis problem.

  10. Pryda...sec 147 Says:

Jameis is going no where !

  11. Bucsfanman Says:

    Jameis is, as Jameis does!

  12. AlteredEgo Says:

@Pryda………that is the problem…Jameis is not making progress…or as you say….”Jameis is going no where !”

  13. Lamarcus Says:

Yea man eating Ws is the new trend. Carlos dunlap did it last week. At work if we did well in sales WE EAT WS and if we suck WE EAT LS.

But it’s definitely fun all round and a great way to motivate my winning team at work. Can’t say that about the BUCS. They thot he was crazy. That’s why we 4 and 8 and looking at a top 4 pick in the draft

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

YEP You are correct there OrlandoJoe. Mariota is clean cut, never been in trouble and has that all american image. He would have been a much bettter choice for us. But we had to go with a Fl State, Crab stealin, Woman lustin sexual predator
who has the maturity level of a 9th grader. And them Titans are winning too! And now that I’m on the subject, we got 3 NFl teams here in Fl. I’m a Bucs fan BUTT..How Bout the turnaround for them JAG-WARS? And they are doing it with a less than spectacular QB too! Ok guys..gotta run..Publix got..Crablegs on sale today!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. OrlandoJoe Says:

    Blake,

You’re right about the OLine and running game in Tennessee. But Mariota doesn’t have the same pass catchers that Jameis does. I’m not going to sit here and say that Mariota is a way better quarterback. But we wouldn’t have to worry about Mariota being out six games next year and putting the franchise in a position to be terrible 2018 as well.

  16. Fire the glazers Says:

Orlando Joe… no one truly wants mariota on their team… he’s got the attention span of a gnat, the glazed look of a pediphile in interviews, and don’t forget, he cried like a toddler when he lost his last game at Oregon. I’d rather have Josh McCown back on the team than have mariota here.

  17. OrlandoJoe Says:

    TMax,

Why would a woman want to put themselves through what Erica Kinsman went through if she wasn’t actually raped? No woman would want to go through life as “the woman that Jameis raped” if it wasn’t actually true even if she could make money.

  18. AlteredEgo Says:

I was in Indy over Thanksgiving and watch Mariota play the Colts….QB’s aside…Titans have awesome talent and play as a football team…I’d love to know where Koetter stood on the Mariota/Jameis debate predraft…he’s stuck with #3 and so are we…I really really hope Jameis can become what we all hoped….but until then I’ll call it like
I see it…..the is no “hope” in football

  19. Joeypoppems Says:

The best part of Flacco doing it was how he needed to use his other hand to cross his 2 fingers. I got a kick out of that.

  20. webster Says:

You mariota lovers are idiots. The titans are winning because their defense and kicking game and running game has performed better than the bucs. They have won inspite of mariota’s lackluster play. Mariota has played in 11 games and has 2428 yrds, 63% comp., 10 tds, 12 ints, 80.4 rtg. Jameis has missed the equivalent to 4 games and has thrown for 2190 yrds, 62% comp. 12 tds, 6ints and 90.1 rtg. Jameis has more tds and has played in less games and has about the same amount of yards. You mariota lovers are idiots.

  21. Bucsfanman Says:

@webster- JW’s stats mean nothing without the W’s. What it shows is that GOOD football teams don’t need a great QB to win games. Why? It’s a TEAM game.
Again, I’m pretty sure that JW would trade stats for wins ALL day E’ry day!!!

  22. AlteredEgo Says:

Jameis is the only one able to put the Mariota debate to bed….

  23. Onetrickpony Says:

Only stat that is real is in the win/lpss column ,everythimg else dont much matter if your in the loseing column

  24. Lamarcus Says:

It’s hard to justify w/l on a qb with a defense like the bucs. JW didn’t get back on the field in ot to try to win it. Once that coin flip was lost for possession in ot…. look at me13 face. He lpoked like it was wrap then. And boy was it over.

  25. Yungry Says:

ESPN just announced there is now another victim… This guy is having a busy season.

  26. Bucs Nihilist Says:

Good to see “Gooberville” is alive and well. Jaboo isn’t going anywhere, so keep wasting your time as Lee aka Joe would say, howling about it.

  27. Lord Cornelius Says:

He played a pretty good game imo outside of that sack/fumble for a TD.

65% completion – 8.4 YPA – 2 TDs – 270 yards – despite having probably some of the worst protection he’s had in any game all year – being hit on 1 in 3 drop backs.

That’s a pretty damn solid outing. Mark this and the Buffalo game as 2 games in which he was robbed of being credited a game winning drive because the defense couldn’t get a stop when it really really mattered.

I noticed that too and got worried.

  29. James Craig Marlow Says:

Simply embarrassing, much like when JW is 3/4 of the way down on a sack and he has his arm still cocked to throw… and he fumbles.

  30. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

Jameis deserves to be mocked for his play on the field this year AS WELL AS that silly finger-sucking and then play-sucking incident in the Saints game.

  31. webster Says:

    @ bucfan

I know it takes a team to win and that is why mariota lovers are idiots. He craps the bed every week but his team is good enough to overcome his trent dilfer stats. Jameis makes one bad play and idiots blame him for the entire loss when or special teams suck and our defense is last on 3rd down conversion. And jameis winston stats do mean something. It means we are not very good around him. Oh and not committing a penalty when we have a 30 yrd gain would be nice too.

  32. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

The Hard Knocks Curse and the Madden Cover Curse are real!

  35. BrianBucs Says:

When that draft was coming up, I didn’t want the Bucs to draft Winston or Mariotta because I didn’t think that either one would be a championship calibre franchise QB, and I still don’t. I wanted the Bucs to draft the man-beast Leonard Williams. Judging the lack of progression of Jameis, plus him being kind of a walking circus, Mariotta being kind of brittle, and the Bucs possibly having the league’ worst defensive line, I’m going to stand by my choice

  36. webster Says:

Well brianbuc i am glad you are not the gm. If you telling me that drafting williams who has 12 career sacks and 2 this year is the better player over the qbs, then i have some land to sell you.

    GO BUCS!!!

  38. BrianBucs Says:

Wedster, you need to watch him play. He now plays in a 3-4 to tie up blockers and stop the run. When he played in a 4-3 at USC he was always in the backfield at LEE. He would be a beast in the Bucs defense at DE plus he’s a physical beast. Would have double digit sacks here every year

  39. Greg Says:

Winston is a clown… oh and he sucks at football

  41. Bucsfanman Says:

@webster- In theory, this offense should be light years ahead of what it is. Most of that is on coaching/play-calling IMO.
If the offense were better, I think it’s safe to say, that so should the defense. It’s NOT, and we apparently have no concept of complementary football. We lost a game in which we “dominated” most aspects of the game.
Personally, I could care less what Mariota does. He’s not a Buc. What I care about is Jameis progression as an NFL QB. Bone-head plays are bone-head plays and are ALL on the QB. While there are MANY aspects of this team that need to be addressed, it does not preclude our QB from criticism.

couldn’t have said it better….the TO was costly but the play calling down at the goal line combined with the bad snap killed us….and that evan smith penalty….that just killed us….GO BUCS!!!!

  44. D-Rome Says:

I’ve watched this 20 times since yesterday. I *still* can’t believe that actually happened.

  45. DalvinTheBeast Says:

Jameis hasn’t done anything half as pathetic as what Brady just did, yet Brady is revered as being above God himself.

Pathetic fans, go root for New England.

  46. DalvinTheBeast Says:

outside of 1 really bone-headed play, he might’ve had the best game of any QB in the NFL who was under comparable duress.

Why our defense plays a lot worse when Winston is the QB is either an odd coincidence, or something we can’t explain right now.

  47. Onetrickpony Says:

Brady got his fingers mixed up, he sucked his thumb instead.

  48. webster Says:

    @ bucfan

Jameis has nothing to do with the inability of the defense not being able to get off the field. I am sorry but our qb has played well enough to have won at least 2 more wins but the defense gave up the b00ty. Lets not count the missed field goals game. Thats 7 wins right there and this stupid fan base would not be talking all idiotic. I dont blame the offense when you are giving up 30 plus points a game on the road. Tyrod taylor bills who avg 15 pts prior to us playing them look like the greatest show on turf and the bucs scored 27. The defense let carson palmer start 16-16 and allowed ap to run all over them. Get off the field on third down. Maybe the offense would have more points if the defense could get off the field. Until that side is fix, the bucs will not win consistently. Look no further than the saints. They put up many points and yards the past 4 years but were 7-9. This year their defense is playing much better and now they are #1 in the nfc south. Defense has to be better period.

  49. webster Says:

One more thing bucfan, how many short fields do the bucs get? Anger does a nice job of pinning teams within the 20, but the bucs defense always let them out of the hole. Thats not complementary football.

  50. Bucsfanman Says:

Webster- We’re in agreement but I’m saying that our play-calling/coaching has really hurt us on offense AND defense. For instance, the insistence on running the same predictable plays over and over knowing full well that our defense can’t stop anybody.
Mt sentiment is that we’re all caught up in this “air-it-out” mentality. What happens when you can’t connect? You possess the ball for shorter amounts of time leading to your defense playing entirely too much, especially knowing that your defense is no better than 11 cereal boxes with legs!
A decent coach would have figured this out early on. Not only do we need more horses on defense, we need coaches that can put together a game-plan that doesn’t include one-on-one matchups with star WRs or can adjust mid-game!
We KNOW what Jameis is. If we expect him to improve, we need to improve around him on BOTH sides of the ball. That includes coaching!

  51. Bucsfanman Says:

Agreed on complementary football! We don’t have it.

  52. ndog Says:

Just wondering what the score was yesterday on the road with only 2 minutes lefts with 3 back up o lineman and a QB that was sacked 7 times and escaped 3 more? Yeah its all Jameis fault. You people are clueless!

  53. webster Says:

I agree bucfan. I dont think many buc fans watch games other than the bucs. They expect jameis to be perfect when there are no perfect qbs. Brady’s last 2 superbowl wins, he has thrown 2 ints in each game. He threw a dreaded red zone int against seattle and a horrific pick 6 against the falcons. They stayed poised and pulled out the game. We bash jameis for one mistake. No qb is perfect.

  54. DB55 Says:

At some point you have to be able to defend a 4th qrt lead. Am I wrong?

  55. Lord Cornelius Says:

“….the TO was costly but the play calling down at the goal line combined with the bad snap killed us….and that evan smith penalty….that just killed us….GO BUCS!!!!”

Yeah it’s almost like when we get to 1st and goal I get scared now because I just don’t trust whatever play call sequence is about to happen. Hell just better play calling alone would have won the game even with the crazy fumble TD. And that fumble TD was on a play in which the O-line got blown up and he had no time.

Dirk’s offense is not an easy one for a QB. It seems that if it isn’t a screen play; he doesn’t give Jameis any easy completions / short route options. All the non-screen pass plays are long-developing plays without an option to counter the blitz or pressure. That’s why Winston was hit 13 times to just 31 pass attempts.

That also may be why the red zone offense sucks – we do not have much of a short passing game in our playbook really; so when we only have to pass 5-7 yards it’s like Dirk doesn’t know any pass play to call other than a fade route to Evans or a “scramble around and find somebody” play that still has long developing routes.

  56. The Anomaly Says:

Bucs and JW are a joke in the NFL. Thanks Glazers.

Dear Glazers, sell please because you suck as owners.

    Thank you,

    Tampa Bay

  57. AlteredEgo Says:

Derrick Brooks as GM….he can hire a number cruncher…someone needs to be able to give the same message they’ve been getting all along….but will actually respect for being called out by someone that has done it ALL !….today’s players are pampered babies …

  58. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

They are clowning JW. Love it. Kid can play, just need to get a better OC for him and a defense that can help him win some games.

Bucs fans need to realize if we had an semblance of a defense/kicking game we would have 7 wins right now. It’s a fine line but Bucs are so close to being good.

Flacco is such a beast. JW should model his game after him. Flacco is almost Zen in his game. Impossible to fluster with a throw that could split a c@$t hair. Great mechanics no matter if on the run or pressured. JW IS getting there sacked 6 times and how many turnovers? 1! 5 weeks ago it would have been 4 or 5 turnovers sh@t you not.

  59. DB55 Says:

All I know is that when Brooks ran the storm they sucked.

  60. DB55 Says:

More like 8 sacks but officially 7

  61. Maze Says:

first time I was embarrassed to support Winston

  62. NFLNut Says:

I like Flacco … always have. Not because he’s any good, he’s not and never has been, but because he just seems like a good guy with the clutch gene which is cool … however he’s headed towards a Trent Dilfer / Brad Johnson legacy … an “okay” QB that won a ring … now, if he could actually play QB like Jameis and had that one ring to add to it … he’d be a lock for the Hall of Fame!

  63. ben Says:

per nfl qb rating Winston is close to the bottom while M.M. is rated much higher so make all the excuses for Winston .

  64. DB55 Says:

    Ben

Link the source cuz that’s simple not true.

  65. webster Says:

Ben you are full of crap. Jameis has a better quarterback rating and better qbr. There is no way a qb with 10 tds and 12 ints is rated better than jameis. Gtfooh!!!

  66. webster Says:

Mariota has sucked @$$ this year. He benefits from a strong defense and running game because he can not throw deep in order to utilize his weapons. Erick decker has been invisible.

  67. webster Says:

Oh and for the poster who said he wished he had wentz or was jealous……well wentz missed 2 wide open receivers for tds yesterday. He has done that a bunch of times this year. The difference is his defense can stop somebody and get him the ball back to rectify for his mistakes or missed throws. Every qb misses throws. Wentz completing 60% of his passes.

  68. webster Says:

It takes a team mariota and wentz lovers in order to win.

  69. ben Says:

nfl qb ratings at nfl espn…

  70. Ed Says:

At least Wentz can do a QB sneak any time you have a crucial 3rd or 4th and 1. You have to have a QB that can get that yard. Cam Newton too.! Even Brady and Brees can sneak it. How many times have we seen the Bucs get stopped on those short yardage situations because they can’t sneak it. Koetter has been afraid to let Winston try it

  71. webster Says:

    @ ed

If koetter doesnt try it then how can you blame winston. Isnt obvious that koetter is not the best play caller? Now you blame winston because the coach does not call a qb sneak when every other coach will. Yea that makes sense. Let blame winston because the grounds crew does not take care of the field properly too. Buc fans are idiots

  72. webster Says:

    @ ben

I will let you look at the stats that math geeks came up with. The same geeks that told us that ej biggers was better than ronde barber. I will use the same rating system as the ones that calculated montana and marino. Thos ratings says jameis is 90 and mariota is 80. 10 tds and 12 ints. Go cheer for the trent dilfer of 2017 in mariota. We wont miss you

  73. webster Says:

Mariota threw for 150 yards on sunday…180 yards the week before with 2 ints…the week before that 4 ints… Yea….he is clearly better than jameis lol

  74. The Anomaly Says:

    Mariota and JW both suck

  75. James Walker Says:

I am starting to agree Anomaly.

  76. TonyT Says:

End of 3rd season Manning 6 lost fumbles. JW 11 lost fumbles and counting 3rd season.

  77. Duke Says:

    Webster,

You state that JW has a higher QBR rating than MM.. MM is ranked 13th\\ JW
    is 27th.e

  78. Duke Says:

    Webster,

If we compare weekly, MM has 2 top 10 games. JW 1 . JW has 4 games below the #20 spot. M M has 1.

You mentioned the qbr and used it to support your perspective. I have to think that you had no idea what the data confirms. You make a great case for the other guy.

  79. webster Says:

I said jameis ob rating is 90 and mariota is 80. Go to nfl.com. im talking some bull crap stat geek no getting girls some math major came up with. The same equation that said biggers was better than barber…..i’ll pass on that. Any equation that says a qb with 10 tds and 12 ints is better is already flawed. Again i’ll pass

  80. webster Says:

    I meant i am “not” talking some……
