Koetter Not As Kind As Jameis

December 5th, 2017

Differing opinions.

When Joe was standing a few feet away from America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler James Winston, after at his postgame presser Sunday, Joe twice heard Jameis refer to his offensive line’s play that afternoon as “dominant.”

The first time Joe heard that, jJoe thought he simply misunderstood what Jameis said. Then when Jameis said it the second time, Joe nearly coughed. The Packers had just put Jameis on the unfrozen tundra of Lambeau Field seven times. Only once in 98 years of Packers history had the team ever had eight sacks.

As Dan Lucas of WFLA-TV Channel 8 told Joe earlier that day while looking at all the Pro Football Hall of Famers’ names painted on the interior deck of the famed NFL shrine in northeast Wisconsin, “Now that’s a Ring of Honor.”

Well, it seems Bucs coach Dirk Koetter wasn’t as glowing as Jameis in his breakdown of the line after breaking down tape. And he didn’t mince words yesterday.

“It wasn’t communication,” Koetter said of the Bucs’ front line, using a term that Joe is sick of hearing of when Bucs types speak about the defense. “We just flat out turned guys loose. [Clay] Matthews on the one coming from Jameis’ left and the other one that came from Jameis’ right – we just flat turned them loose. You just don’t see that and we did it on those two for sure.”

Well, in Joe’s mind, “flat out turned guys loose” and “dominant” are about as far apart as they come.

In a funny way, Joe admires Jameis for sticking up for his guys, crazy and wild as it was. Still, the cynic in Joe greatly appreciates Koetter’s direct, no-baloney candor.

The human ATM can polish the turd of an offensive line all he wants. It’s still a turd. Go Bucs!

Will someone please tell the equipment dude – to get D.Smith a bigger jersey.
So that he can stop fidgeting with the darn thing – after every freakin’ play.

He’s worse then the damn women at my gym.
Always fidgeting w/ their darn jackets – tied around their waist.

It’s football son – that prissy sh!t don’t fly in this league.
Your gonna get your jersey tattered & dirty every once & awhile. Geesh.

Just maybe – if U wasn’t worried about – fidgeting with your damn jersey.
You’ll finish a block for once. Or catch a defender that just scooped up a fumble.

  5. Lamarcus Says:

Jw was referring to run block. Jw said “dominate in that area”

You must review it again Joe

Joe I hate to switch topics on a thread hopefully this go thru.

I just listened to one of your podcasts where you talked about Conte not celebrating after the Justin Evans INT. It looks to me like Conte had deep coverage on that side of the field but got caught looking in the backfield and Nelson ran right past him. Justin Evans came from the right side of the field to pick that off. I understand why Conte was mad, he got beat on that play and Evans saved a TD.

the line gets a pass Sunday. With everyone that matters on the sideline, what did you expect? Since the rule is to attack the weakest link, they did not need to go at Smith. Smith should have had a great game.

No smart QB throws his O-Line under the bus. Even if they didn’t play up to par – calling them out publicly reeks.

It would be visually entertaining if he wore a super small jersey – one that shows the stomach like back in the day lol

Don’t have to review anything. Was standing four or five feet away when Jameis said that. Asked him for an explanation. He had a fair answer. Wrote about it Sunday (link is in first paragraph) of this story.

Of course, if you really did watch the video, you would have already known this.

I think Koetter is ready to head back to being an OC. Poor guy, must be so embarrassing to get handed the keys to the kingdom and wind up locking yourself in the dungeons.

  13. Cobraboy Says:

@LUVMTBUCS: a tight jersey on an OL makes it harder for a DL to grab within the shoulders and pull the OL aside.

    Same with DL.

    @Joe

Reading and video comprehension is not for everyone. Spinning lies to favor a position and trolling..everyone is an expert.

Re tight #3 jersey> If it would make him more accurate, I am all for it. Whatever it takes to win on Sunday.

    Go Bucs!

Winston thinks thinks everyone is amazing, his opinion doesn’t count

  16. unbelievable Says:

OMG did J0e just write something negative about the offensive line performance?

Oh, I guess not. But you quoted someone saying something negative, so you’re getting there. Slowly….
