Insult To Bucs Fans

December 21st, 2017

Bucs fans suffer the same result watching the feces this team passes off for a pass rush.

Time for your weekly reminder/assault on what the Bucs try to con paying customers with disguised as a pass rush.

If ever there was an example of how poorly this team is coached on defense, it is the void of a pass rush. The good folks with NFL Films who are behind ESPN’s “NFL Matchup” have gone through the weekly numbers of NFL teams and no unit is worse than the Bucs at getting quarterback pressure.

Watching the gutless (well, you can’t say that about Swaggy Baker) attempts of the Bucs to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks is like getting blasted across the grill by the hot chick at the bar.

Once again, Joe will remind readers that somehow, inept Lovie Smith found a way in 2014 to squeeze 8.5 sacks out of three known stiffs (Ghost Johnson, late-hitting, kneeling Akeem Spence and guitar-plucking, gun-totin’ Da’Quan Bowers) yet Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith and defensive line coach Jay Hayes cannot get three sacks combined out of Robert Ayers, Will Gholston and Swaggy? That says it all; those three have a grand total of 2.5 sacks through 14 games.

To think that Team Glazer has sunk a sum of $19 million this season into that troika is enough for a cunning lawyer to file suit for deceptive practices.

And how are your investments doing these fine days as the markets continue a steady climb?

Did not Mike Smith order/request all his D-linemen to garner an extra 10 pounds of weight to them during the off-season? The only D-linemen that you could say put on an extra 10 pounds of muscle was Clinton Mcdonald…it was obvious with his play. Will Golston on the other hand, just looked and played 10 pounds heavier and slower, and to an extent so did GMC. Thats where i’m putting my money at when it comes to the biggest factor why the d-line regressed from last season…that and because it’s been how many YEARS since we drafted an actual quality D linemen (not a hybrid backer) ???

Now the nation knows how bad our pass rush has been for years. I so glad that I didn’t renew my tickets, nor have I spent my Sundays watching this mess.

and btw…it’s almost 1:30pm on a thursday and STILL no new Ira podcast…Is the sage sick or is Isbits slacking?

So let me get this straight…

Jay Hayes – one of the most respected position coaches in the league over the last 15 years and Mike Smith who won NFL head coach of the year THREE times in Atlanta – BOTH forgot how to coach???

    Seems unlikely.

  5. Eric Says:

Interestingly, the chiefs, Bills and Lions are all in the playoff chase, even with bad pass rushing.

    ^^BINGO^^

and some people still think smitty’s defense is better….look at what he has to work with compared to lovie….its night and day…..incompetent coaching at its finest!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Buc4lyfe79 Says:

Thanks Joes, works every time…Hey, if anybody can provide some moments of levity while our Bucs bottom out their last 2 games to record yet another 4-12 finish for the history books, it’s IRV!!!

  8. Joe Says:

    Irv!

  9. BringBucsBack Says:

Ayers said that Simeon Rice should leave the job of pass rushing to the young guys, that Sim would “get beasted” if he returned. I thought that was a disrespectful remark then; it’s worse now after more opportunities to accumulate sacks.

The ‘Skins get rid of Swaggy and get better…hmmm..?

    LICHTS FAULT –

On March 9, 2017, Calias Campbell signed a four-year, $60 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Currently has 14.5 sacks.

    19 million vs 15 million.

Campbell alongside GMC would have been the closest we ever get to Sapp / Rice. LICHT=FAILURE

  12. buddy Says:

Licht made a bad decision to let go of Joe Cullen who is with the Ravens as D-line coach after he got into a HEATED arguement with Licht over Koetters backstabbing of Lovie Smith. Looks like another bad decision by Licht and Koetter by bringing in Jay Hayes. Hows that working out for them???LOLOLOL

  13. GhostofSchiano Says:

    Hey Buddy,

I wonder if it had anything to do with Cullens late night drive thru habits? Maybe an unreported visit to a Tampa area Wendys or Taco Bell?

  14. R.O. Says:

I think that chart proves the point when half the teams have losing records or barley .500 and are in the top 10.

  15. not there yet Says:

Don’t care anymore, it was the problem so we’ll see what they do to fix what everyone knew would be the big issue. Seems like they really need the help of their fans to fix this roster

  16. Lord Cornelius Says:

This has to just be in general and include blitzes which kind of negates how useful the ranking is. Anyone can technically get pressure by blitzing. It’s the teams that can get the pressure without blitzing that have elite defenses.

I’ve watched Chiefs games and their front can get to the QB much better than ours for example; even though they are ranked worse here.

The only team that may be worse than us is the Colts; and that sucks because they’ll get a shot on Chubb before we do.

  17. Bucsfanman Says:

4 cereal boxes would get more pressure than the Bucs!

  18. Joe Says:

Anyone can technically get pressure by blitzing.

    Except the Bucs.

  19. Mike Johnson Says:

Again My tearful Fellow Buc fans..Enjoy your Holiday with..plenty of libations while watching our Bucs get scarificed come Sunday. THROW THEM PRAYER BEADS AWAY AND JUST WATCH THE GAME> Get F’D up..like I’m gonna do and Laugh!! WE shall be better next season….We hope!

  20. DBS Says:

For the longest time I have just looked at free agency as Free Money. Other than maybe Grimes what Free Agent has come here and really done anything in the past few years. And what do they let them go. We just have the wrong people top to bottom.

  21. Mike Johnson Says:

    DBS…You are unfortunately..DEAD RIGHT!!!

  22. Lord Cornelius Says:

lmao true Joe. There have been some really ugly blitzes this year where dudes are just stone-walled into complete uselessness.

  23. Defense Rules Says:

Have to laugh every time I see you use stats to pound on the Bucs’ defense Joe. You’ve gotten to be a master at telling only that part of the story that suits your agenda (that apparently being … Bucs’ defensive coaches (AND Doug Martin of course) are totally responsible for the Bucs disastrous 2017 season.

If you looked deeper at the 2014 season, you might’ve noticed a HUGE difference in the quality of the teams the Bucs played. Panthers won the NFC South that year with a 7-8-1 record, remember? Saints were 7-9 and Falcons were 6-10. Take a good look at the records of those same teams this year … ALL THREE have won more games already and ALL THREE will most likely be headed to the playoffs. Add in that this year’s Bucs have also played 3 other teams probably going to the playoffs (Pats, Vikings & Bills) and that’s NINE (yes 9 games) this year against playoff-bound teams.

Oh, and guess which team is fielding a DLine that is SIGNIFICANTLY OLDER in 2017 than the one they fielded in 2014. Bingo … the Bucs. At least 3 years older it appears. Our DTs in 2014 (McCoy – 26; McDonald – 27; A. Spence – 23) averaged 25 years old. Our DTs in 2017 (McCoy – 29; McDonald – 30; Baker – 30) now average 30 years old. DEs are similar (Ayers – 32; Gholston – now 26).

Make sure though Joe that you blame Smitty & Jay Hayes for that as opposed to the architect of this debacle … Jason Licht. An aging, talent-limited DLine provided courtesy of, tada … our illustrious GM. Keep telling the sheep how well he’s drafted over his 4-year tenure. And by all means make sure the Glazer Boys fire a very good coaching staff so that Licht can be let off the hook yet again.

  24. EA Says:

Nah Nah Nah you insulted me a little bit.

  25. Conte Piscatelli Says:

My understanding was that Jay Hayes was a proven respective dline coach, this season has to be a huge black eye on his resume, and the fact that he is likely headed to the unemployment line in the near future I wonder if anyone has asked him if the poor play of the dline is his fault, coach Smith’s schemes, or the players? I wonder if he would be honest and give the answer that would save his reputation.

  26. What in the buc Says:

Would love to see stats of current players on roster now and there stats from old bucs regimes…..

  27. uckinator Says:

Pickgrin – Agree with you 100 %. This is all on Licht. On defense, other than corner, his free agent signings have been a disaster. Had plenty of money to work with ! High Draft picks have been spotty ( I’m being charitable; Hargraves, Roberto.) He has been good in rounds 3 and 4 though. That’s not going to save him this year.
