Frustration For Coaches Mounting

December 17th, 2017

Unhappy with defenders playing out of position by necessity.

Either the losing is getting to the coaches or simply the long season is beginning to fray nerves.

Or it could be the simple fact a vocal segment of Bucs fans, that roughly five short months ago hollered themselves hoarse at practice supporting Bucs coach Dirk Koetter, are now equally energized for a regime change.

And it could get very ugly Monday night if the game gets out of hand with Chucky being in the house.

Joe senses some Bucs coaches have thrown up their hands in both disgust and frustration as just about anything they have tried turns up snake-eyes, specifically on defense.

Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith acts and talks like a dead man walking, accepting his fate. His last two press conferences, Smith has even lost his fire, no longer dropping “friggin'” when describing his defense. What’s left to say?

Friday, Bucs offensive coordinator Todd Monken went on an epic diatribe and monologue defending both America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and his good friend Koetter, while also indirectly trashing Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network for his report claiming there is rancor and division between Jameis and Koetter.

Yesterday, for whatever reason, it sure seemed like Koetter had zero desire to speak with reporters after practice. When asked about rookie Kendell Beckwith playing at the line of scrimmage or perhaps as a pass rusher, which he has done, Koetter’s immediate answer, drenched in frustration, was “That’s not what he came here to do. We drafted him here to be a linebacker.”

But desperate times call for desperate measures. The Bucs are so desperate for even a hint of an edge rush, they have extensively experimented with Beckwith as a pass rusher even though he hasn’t played defensive end since his first year at LSU.

This whole season, not just the woes of the defensive line, can be summed up in one word.

Sad.

@Joe … “And it could get very ugly Monday night if the game gets out of hand with Chucky being in the house.” Good job of stirring the pot Joe.

Koetter gave the only answer he could as a HC to a reporter’s dumb question (obviously that reporter hasn’t watched many Bucs’ games). The coaches are understandably frustrated IMO … they’ve been given far too little talent to work with & be competitive in the NFC South, especially on defense.

It’s not ‘sad’ as you call it Joe. It’s the direct result of INCOMPETENCE on the part of Jason Licht & the Glazer Boys, the real creators of this debacle. Yet another JBF article without a single mention of their part in this unmitigated disaster of a season. Hang the coaches out to dry yet again (Hey, that’s what scapegoats are for). Now that’s ‘sad’.

  2. richbucsfan Says:

the whole season has been sad…players becoming social activists and being used by race baiters; knowingly overlooked needs on the O & D lines; JW being JW off the field and poor on the field; seeming lack of effort and very poor play by VHiii; something very wrong on the coaching staff. It’s a Bucs life.

  3. Big Stinky Says:

The coaches are just sick of making excuses for this TEAM underachieving. I think Licht is to blame for this team lacking talent. He has had 4 years to build this team and we are NOT much better than when he got here. Let’s hear his excuse for why we are 4-9 right now. I am afraid we won’t get the BEST player in the Draft AGAIN if Licht stays. We need a new GM to evaluate the talent on this team. It’s simple! We need McKay again! #WalkThePlank #LetLichtGo

  4. Capt.Tim Says:

    Richbucsfan
    Yup- nice summary

Im not an NFL coach. I havent even attended a game this year( protesting protestors).
And yet i was posting, in the preseason,
If you cant rush the passer, you cant win in todays NFL

    Nothing has changed

  5. Bob in Valrico Says:

Little or no chance of McKay coming here. Although that is a fence that the Glazers should have mended a long time before they did with Chucky.

  6. Buc4eva Says:

When Smith was hired I said I thought he would be a cancer to this entire team it would be so bad. The complete moral of this team is lost. Every single player knows it is almost pointless to go out and play 100%, although they still do knowing they are playing for they’re jobs.

I thought Koetter would be a great head coach and I still do. I thought Smith would destroy any chance Koetter had at success and I really want to see Dirk run this team with a real defensive coordinate. Just imagine how many more scoring opportunities these guys would have with a better defense. The entire team knows it and it’s been the achilles heel of this team year in year out…..the defense.

Fix the defense and you fix the entire team

  7. Hodad Says:

If Licht hadn’t wasted draft capital moving up for a kicker, instead stock piling D lineman, Beckwith would not have to play D end. Licht banked on J. Smith, N. Spence being double digit sack artists, so he drafted Godwin, Howard, even tho we had Evans, Brate in the fold. Licht passed on K. Hunt, A. Kamara, because the drug addict was coming back. There is no need to wonder why Koetter looks like that MF stick is some where other then his hand.

  8. Roy T. Buford Says:

Even a hint at an edge rush on a total of a handful of plays could have made the difference in the DET and BUF and GB games. An average kicker would have meant the Bucs beat the SB champs here on a Thursday night. So addressing just two glaring problems and they could have easily been 8-5 right now. But then there is also the slew of problems of not being able to score points on offense which points to a reckless QB, poor play calling, weak O line, and a tepid runing game. Even with all the star pass-catchers, they couldn’t get it done for TDs. The DBs would have a better look if the opposing QBs didn’t have time to send text messages on their dropbacks, but they going to take a another hit with Grimes likely leaving.

All said, the Bucs should have been 8-5 right now even with most all their warts–a slightly better than average team still in the coversation and with some playoff hopes. So maybe they can fix a few things to at least get to that by next year. No, I don’t expect playoffs for “years” but what I want early is to still have fans interested on Thanksgiving Day for pete’s sake. But to be really good. they have to fill so many holes.

  9. Roy T. Buford Says:

I am not saying Fitz is a starting QB or that he’s a better QB overall than Winston, but this year, Jameis has not played like a starting QB, certainly not a star QB. Most teams play horrible when they lose their franchise QB…look at GB for example. How would NO or ATL do without Brees and Ryan? Probably not well. For our team, when Jameis was out the Bucs went 2-1. They nearly pulled it out in ARI when he went down. Pretty much, Jameis is no factor when he’s gone. So since the media and fans are bent on cleaning house, and since “America’s QB” (just writing that is an insult to American’s and to the game–I do it gest), a new GM and/or HC will surely be asked how they will deal with Jameis…if the Glazers haven’t already decided he’s not the face of the franchize. To be clear, if the Glazers are willing to dump both the GM and HC, they aren’t wed to the QB who hasn’t proven himself in three seasons to be anything more than a BS artist and decent backup QB. I’m waiting to see if: 1. The Glazers take their jet to CAR next week, and 2. How much time they spend on the field pre-game in both the CAR and NO games. If they spend more time with Brian Ford than with Jason…hmmm.

  10. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Derp Koetter, I can lend you a groupon for the movers soon to arrive. You can try to donate your playbook to the thrift store, but they I don’t think they accept garbage.

  11. The Buc Realist Says:

The saddest part, are the so called fans!!!!! They watch the bad line play and then all week they b!@tch that it was all playcalling!!!!!!!! But one group of fans was really disappointing!!!! The fan “movement” as they self glossed!!!!!!
Lets see if we can find the truth from a month ago!!!!!!!! OMG its the “Realist Repost”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The Buc Realist Says:
    November 15th, 2017 at 8:33 am
And so the stick carrier movement turns to saw dust!!!!!! did it officially last a year?????? So much for the long haul!!!!!!!!! So let us celebrate that Justin created a movement that had fans that called for the coaching staff to be fired last year made it to a little over a year and now are calling for the coaching staff to be fired!!!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

everyone keeps saying that the Glazers are impatient!!!! Is that true??? or are they swayed by the fans!!!!!!!

I remember what the local media and fans were saying the last 2 years of Coach Gruden’s tenure

I remember the fans revolting (rightly so) against Rah!!!!!!!!!

Coach Schiano was told to clean up the locker room and when he did, players complained, and the local media and fans all had the players back!!!!!! I don’t remember the Glazers putting up billboards to fire the coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lovie was terrible…period!!!!!!!!

and know 1 good season and a couple of games and now the “so called” long haul bucs fan movement has turned!!!!!!!!!

message to the next sacrificial lamb, don’t make any mistakes, or the bitter errrrrr I mean fans will turn!!!!!!!!!!! Justin, ever ask yourself if we deserve a fickle team because that is what the fan base is, and that the owners are swayed by that???????????

when will the fans, and the team stand strong thru adversity???????? Because that will happen with a couple of injuries and young core!!!!!!!!

  12. Zwak Says:

Agree 100% The Buc Realist very well said!

  13. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I can’t wait until Glazers announce they’re either keeping Koetter or hiring another HC other than Gruden.

All this non-sense talk of Gruden is sickening. All this dumb talk of Gruden from fans is on a stupidity factor time 10.

Gruden and his puppet GM set this Franchise back a good 6 / 7 years due to their dumb decision-making from the draft to free agency.

  14. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Buc Realist…no need to group all “fans” into one category. You should avoid such assertions. There many fans out there who want Koetter (or Jason) to stay as much those who want him gone, who want Jameis to stay as wanting him/them gone. The “stick carriers” are not the fan base. Not even close. They are not even a flash in the pan, though their passion is great and should be applauded. The fans, as individuals, that I personally disagree with the most are the ones who stillk think Jameis is the guy, yet want to clean out the GM and rest of the coaches. As for me, I’ve concluded there are changes to make, and you or Joe nor I are privy all that has happened or is happening inside the walls at One Buc. I tend to lean for keeping the GM and HC with some caveats (e.g., divest play calling duties, maybe get a new OC) and keeping Jameis to see if he can improve only if he’s been truthful with the owners. Those current three turned in a good year last year that needs some improvements. I’d hate to start over now with what will guarantee three years of “suck.” And I sure don’t want to surrender the reins to a guy who had it all when he came in and managed to destroy it over his sever years here (Jon Gruden). Point: Don’t go slashing down the fans. Argue with the ones you disagree with.

  15. Jim Says:

Everyone loves a winner. Everyone hates a loser. If Bill Belicheat coached this team he might last 3 years.

  16. Stevbobucsfan Says:

Frustration with the bucs coaches I do understand. We go from a 9 – 7team with what look like a great offense and defense to a most likely 5-11 team with deep regress on both sides of the ball . What happened here. I am frustrated with the bucs I’ve been watching bucs football since 1976 and we make 1 stiride foward and 3 back and the media always guessimate at what goING on when they can’t get someone to right out tell them. So I do understand the frustration of coaches and fans

  17. Roy T. Buford Says:

At this point in this lost season, what I care about regrarding the MNF game is: Only motivation for fans to win is to see ATL’s shot at the playoffs put on life support. Only motivation for players in the margins is to start a three-game portfolio showing why should be playing the NFL next year. I think the Glazers have already made up their minds regarding Jason, Dirk, and Mike S. And I don’t think a lot here will like what I think they will do. I don’t know if they’ve made up their mind on Jameis yet, but that’s coming by end of March. For my own interest in what’s left of the season…sure, I’d like to see ATL do down in flames, and maybe the Bucs have it in them. I doubt it though. I have aleady decided if it’s a three-score game in the 3rd quarter, or a two-score in the 4th quarter, I’m going home to be in bed at a decent hour. Dragging the next day is not worth it for this game, win or lose. And that really sucks.

    ================================================

    Very well said Roy…

It’s absolutely baffling that most Bucs Fan don’t remember what Gruden did in the past and how he acted.

but all fans see is Gruden in the Media and the media is always posting news about Gruden to keep on fanning the flames so the story just doesn’t die. We don’t need old retread coaches around here (see the diasaster of Lovie) and find a good up and coming coach.

    Or in my mind

Keep Koetter and the GM……I still like MIke Smith, but he just needs to address the defense this off-season.

  19. Roy T. Buford Says:

@BucsAnthem…as I did with Lovie, I’d want to see what is said in his outbrief with the owners on Tuesday, 2 January, before making my own call on Koetter and company. Of course, I won’t be there for that one, but I tend to agree with you. What did Lovie in was he didn’t think he needed many changes for coaching, and he wanted to keep his own sons and buddies on board, and even bring in another friend to be a consultant on the D. Kiss of death. The Koetter-Jameis factor was key, but it was not the dagger. This team has had a lot of adversity this year. I’d like to see how they do next year with some changes. I agree with you 100%. And I think that’s what the owners want to see, unless Jason and Dirk really tube it up when they explain “what happened” and “here’s where I want to take us” next year.

  20. tbaybuxfan Says:

Being outplayed, or out out gameplanned, really does not bother me, what bothers me is when those things happen, there seems to not be any adjustments made. ( i.e play closer to the receiver, actually bump him, double him, blitz, hide coverages better.
on offence dont do the obvious all the time, throw some razzle dazzle in there every once in awhile, how about a halfback/receiver pass ourselves? keep them guessing. if the running game is not working, stop trying to get a long pass, go for some quick slants and screens to make up for lack of running game. ADJUST!
this is why I dont know if Koetter should return. to me it is obvious this team does not have enough talented players yet,so we need someone who can come up with some tricks to make us look better until we get the talent.

  21. Architek Says:

    – people are always prone for wanting the “new toy”

If it happens in their personal lives then why wouldn’t it happen in fandom???

This isn’t about the fans or media this is about extreme regression and the lack of preparedness and coaching that is NOT getting the most of a roster.

Don’t put this on the fans.

  22. What in the buc Says:

Beginning to believe we have the Cleveland curse…. there are MANY things wrong from top to bottom we will see where ownership takes us. It would be nice not to hear the vanilla answers from dirk….. “starts with us we need to coach better” he has been saying that for weeks, yet majority of the time you can predict his play calls…..

  23. Architek Says:

Koetter and Smith are terrible at in-game adjustments. When have we actually outcoached a team or won a game on coaching alone???

  24. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ tbaybuxfan

You have some good points indeed

But I’ll go back to what I said before…..

Is it coaching or is it the players????????

Remember, Koetter hasn’t been a head coach that long now

Also, their personnel hasn’t worked out so well either (see fatty baker)

……You can’t expect for the GM or players to address everything 100% in the off-season but I think the GM and the coaches have a plan next year.

That’s why in my mind…..keep the nucleus (Nacho Libre..LOL) the same but keep on building.

If this franchise keeps on turning over every two years…….we will be the Cleveland Browns of the NFC very very soon.

  25. darin Says:

This isnt what they brought you here to do either dirk. Move your players around, put them in position to have success. Coach! Gameplan, adjust. Surprise the falcons with a different game plan. This league is very equal in talent. Comes down to coaching. He is getting outcoached every week. Id be frustrated too if i were him. He is in way over his head

  26. Roy T. Buford Says:

Add to what @BucsAnthem said…how does a team who is 9-7 one year that has an arrow pointing up go to 4-12 (on the way) when they have added: DJax, Sweezy, Ward, and Baker as veterans? When they drafted Godwin, Beckwith, and J. Evans that seem to be doing pretty well overall?

I get back to what I said earlier in the year: Guys like DJax and Baker and Ward did’n’t buy in. They got paid, and were clear they don’t value getting extra work (which would help their team). Those three guys won’t be back next year, and dare I say, that may be an improvement for over team synergy. I had a pretty good idea about game 2 (later with Ward) these guys would not pan out.

  27. tmaxcon Says:

the problem is NO ORGANIZATIONAL leadership and that will not change by recreating a failed past with gruden. A real leader (owner) would not have let this team turn into a soap opera year after year. there is no hope all you fools and your theories are laughable. this franchise is an embarrassment to the league the city and football fans worldwide and that will not change anytime soon. it’s simply a pathetic franchise with no hope… you guys act like this is or was a good franchise. they underachieved and failed under dungy and had 1 good year under gruden so the optimism is cute boarding adorable but history proves there is no hope for this pathetic franchise….

  28. EA Says:

I hope the coaches have a plan in place next year to motivate the players to show up and actually play in Arizona, oh wait, we don’t play Arizona next year because they will finish third in their division and we have secured basement in ours.
Dirk and Mike are great guys but that doesn’t pay the bills. Keep on searching I don’t see it getting better, seems like finally the coaches have thrown in the towel.
They made the mistake of forcing Dirk to be a HC, Don’t make that same mistake and keep him for another year, he is in over his head, Great guy Dirk is by the way, but sometimes you have to be a jerk to win in the NFL.

  29. JMarkBuc Says:

    Anthem,

You’re right, Koetter hasn’t been an HC for long. He won’t be either. This thing got away from him when he ran a charmin soft training camp, all the while griping about bad practices. You’re the HC Dirk! If the practices are going badly raise hell and fix them. These players and this season were lost in August, you play how you practice.

Mike Smith isn’t any better than swaggy or Djax or sweezy. Just padding his retirement fund

  30. JimmyJack Says:

I’m guilty myself but I think the 9-7 record has completely clouded the fact that Dirk has taken over for a #5 offense and ruined it. He was hired here to get this offense clicking and it hasn’t even come close to looking like a solid unit. We couldn’t give him anything more to work with on offense and Doug was his guy. Heck, his first order of business when he got hired was to openly campaign for Doug.

Dirk has accomplished absolutely nothing as a HC here……..His Offense isn’t going to get better in a third year, the only way to think that is blind optimism. I’m done waiting for results from this guy. Just face it, it ain’t happening.

  31. JimmyJack Says:

Hahaha tmax…..Your accusing us of living in the past then you go on to cry about Dungy. You are absolutely deranged dude.

  32. tmaxcon Says:

    jimmyjack

not deranged just pointing obvious facts to offset the delusional BS by the blind ignorant optimists that constantly call a pathetic 2 playoff wins in 6 years glory years. it’s laughable and beyond low standard. have these losers post crap like dungy invented zone defense which is laughable. career losing playoff record sums his career has a choke artist and failed coach when the games mattered most not unlike cancer93 who has never won a meaningful game in his bucs career yet some of the fanboys are putting him the ring of honor… absolutely hilarious

back to dungy the clown, no crying about dungy just pointing out he failed which is necessary on these fan sites considering the legend of dungy far exceeds his actual accomplishments. it really burns my arse that an unqualified buffoon is enshrined before deserving coaches like Tom Flores or Jimmy Johnson…

Dungy would not even have been considered for hall of fame if was hispanic or white and was not such a media darling. let’s not also forget he gets the extra sympathy because his father first BS backfired and his son bailed.

glory years 2 playoff wins 6 years. meanwhile Tom Brady has 5 rings and 25 playoff wins and has appeared in 34 playoff games yet this franchise can’t sniff a single playoff win in 16 years… bucs organization has 6 career playoff wins in 42 years so let’s keep doing the same thing it’s obviously working and satisfying to low standard buc fan.

  33. TheBucsAnthem Says:

All this talk about Gruden and the offense is a mute point.

NO COACH BEING HIRED HERE will ever be successful if they cannot get a good defense!!!!!

    DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS

I actually prefer watching a good defense play over a good offense…….

If you guys want a real discussion

Then talk about how we can fix the defense…..fixing the defense is the key here again to winning games.

  34. JimmyJack Says:

Tmax your a sore loser. Only a sore loser would still be bitter about Dungy twenty years after the fact. You talk about him every day you’re so sore.

Now your jealousy for Tom Brady comes out……..Sore loser and jealous that’s a lethal combo.

You are in no position to call anybody a cancer because that what you are to our fan base………You need to sac up and learn how to lose like a man already.

  35. tmaxcon Says:

not jealously just pointing out what a winner looks like compared to a turd. raise your standards and stop justifying and making excuses for a failed organization.

  36. Pa Privateer Says:

Keep GM Licht: Drafting is good, needs to work on FA

Keep Koetter: Surrender his playcalling to a real OC

Fire Smith: Promote the DL coach

Force Jameis to work on his throwing fundamentals

Cut Baker, Ward, Martin, dead money and any other person that hasn’t bought into the team

Get some pass rushers, a Center, another RB, some CBs……

    Stick with it another year.

  37. tmaxcon Says:

winners win and losers make excuses….

  38. tmaxcon Says:

    JimmyJack

so anyone who is not a blind optimist or delusional fanboy is a cancer lol… you watch cancer93 make a fool of himself monday night playing to the cameras…

  39. TheBucsAnthem Says:

“If you ain’t first, you’re last.” — Ricky Bobby

  40. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Pa Privateer

I think Mike Smith can fix this defense this offense

Fix the defense and everything else will fall into place

  41. StPeteBucsFan Says:

We have no run blocking capability. That seriously impacts the offense.

We have no ability to rush the passer. That seriously impacts the defense.

These are the two major issues. #3 and all the issues swirling around him are a separate important issue. But assuming #3 works out at QB…everything else is window dressing. We don’t need a Leveon Bell at RB or any All Pro RB…if we have a powerful line that can run block there are a number of decent RB’s that can move the chains and take pressure off the passing game.

If we had a solid pass rush our defensive backfield suddenly looks a lot better. Our linebacking corps is solid and our defense becomes immediately better.

We couldn’t fix everything at once. I thought we had come a lot farther along with our OL…still needs MAJOR work though. And the DL is just pathetic. Might be time to start from scratch there. Build the freaking trenches!!! It’s not only essential to winning…losing with wimpy lines in a macho sport like football is also embarrassing. I’m tired of watching us get pushed around.

  42. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ StPeteBucsFan

The problem is that “licking fingers” JW will never be a Franchise QB……..NEVER

He’ll be just a “good QB”…..never great, never HOF material…..just a good QB cause a JW just mentally doesn’t have it and we’ve seen many examples of it in the 3 yrs he’s been here.

I don’t want to hear about “he’s only 23” blah blah blah nonsense…………JW just doesn’t have it mentally regardless of all of his physical tools.

  43. JimmyJack Says:

“Winners win and losers make excuses”……….I’m sorry I thought we were fans here. Your talking like we are playing the game ourselves.

I stand by my deranged statement

  44. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Anthem

I do not disagree with any part of your post. Other than to say I haven’t totally ruled out #3 as becoming a very good QB…but even I concede that seems to be a longer and longer shot with each passing day.

He has talent but your criticisms of him are valid. However where we may disagree is how important the position is to the team. Certainly QB is the single most important spot on any team but that doesn’t mean it has to be filled with an All Pro.

If Jameis turns out to be another Dilfer, (one of his early mentors lol) or Brad Johnson that’s good enough to win obviously and I think that you are probably right and Jameis becomes an OK but inconsistent QB. If that’s the case….then we better have a Defense Rules team and plan for another defense driven dynasty.

  45. not there yet Says:

I don’t know what evidence of frustration that if supposed to be but if beating the dolphins and Jets eased their frustrations for a bit then they still need to go. This has always been a team just hoping to be a wild card team not top notch team you expect in the playoffs and that’s exactly how dirk coaches, now I see why Bryan Cox was ready to fight one of his linebackers on the sideline. Dirk’s coaching staff doesn’t have that kind of fire and very few of our players do, they simply need a motivator and educator, someone who had them prepared for games. That was never dirk

  46. WyomingBucsFan Says:

This is like last year when the Joe’s were calling for LVD to be a stand up defensive end/outside linebacker in a Patriots style 3-4 defense. Its just ridiculous to think a 6-1 220 pound line backer can play on the line of scrimmage. Joe’s were comparing LVD to LT and wondering why LVD never comes off the edge. Look at the body types people.

  47. not there yet Says:

Fix the defense and everything else will fall into place? And here I thought the defense is what saved dirk last year. That 5 game win streak was all due to the defense specifically Keith Tandy. There’s never been any kind of offensive explosion for any of Dirk’s offenses and somehow that’s Winston fault.

Washed up McNabb in Jackson rookie year, Kevin told, Nick foles and cousins. Here’s been electric in all those seasons except when he came here Tampa, yes Winston didn’t hot him on deep passes but how long did it take to adjust, coach is garbage Winston is garbage this year but to Young to give up on

  48. Defense Rules Says:

@TheBucsAnthem … “You can’t expect for the GM or players to address everything 100% in the off-season but I think the GM and the coaches have a plan next year.” Wish I shared your enthusiasm TBA, but I don’t. Not even a little bit. The construction of this team is TOALLY on Jason Licht & the Glazer Boys. I’m convinced, despite the rhetoric last year, that Dir Koetter & Mike Smith had ZERO input into the drafting process, and most likely none into the FA process. I’d dare anyone to tell me that Smitty preferred Fatty Baker over Calais Campbell or even Dontari Poe. Anyone want to tell me that Dirk wouldn’t have loved to have had Alex Mack for his Center and/or Jake Matthews for his LT? You know, before Atlanta snatched up 3 of the 4 I just mentioned this past year?

Bucs’ DLine is a mess, and that’s TOTALLY on Jason Licht. Look at the DLine that the Jaguars were able to build in JUST TWO (2) YEARS. DT Malik Jackson signed as a FA in 2016. DE Yannick Ngakoue was drafted in the 3rd Round of 2016 (#69 … Bucs drafted VHIII, Noah Spence AND Aguayo BEFORE the Jags drafted Ngakoue). DE Calais Campbell was added as a FA this year, and then the Jags traded for DT Marcell Dareus this year to really beef up their DLine.

Where was Licht while all those 2016 & 2017 moves by just 2 teams (Jags & Falcons) went on? Asleep at the wheel. Bucs could’ve built a powerhouse DLine AND OLine IF our GM had any inkling of what it takes to build a winner. Domenick didn’t do us any favors to be sure. Neither did Allen before him. But Jason Licht is giving them a strong run for worst GM we’ve had since our SB year.

DC Pressbox Smitty been around the block a few times. He knows he’s gone after this season. Koetter/ Might be gone if he suffers one blowout. And even if not, The Glazers might pull the trigger on him too. So..its time for Smitty to come down out of the high heavens (pressbox) and lead his troops. I mean nothin else has worked. Why should’nt he give the ole sideline coaching a try. But I guess he will sit comfortably with his binoculars in the pressbox knowing his fate…………..

Marvin Lewis to the Bucs? Wasn’t he 1st choice before Gruden??

  51. BucEmUp Says:

Anyone wanting koetter fired should go look up the first two seasons on ron riviera in Carolina. Horrible to his career and look at his team now. Shut up and be patient.

    MIKE SMITH MUST GO!!!!!

Realist…good post, Interesting observation of Bucs fans and the prevailing culture. I also agree with Roy T…its not all posters on this site. Just most. I will not be surprised if we beat Atlanta tomorrow…will take a diversified offense (effective running, play action, WR screens, and key grabs by our slot receivers or TE in the seam) and on defense, a basic game with no blown coverages on 3rd down. I think we’ll get to Ryan as well… Go Bucs!

  53. adam from ny Says:

i’d rather see bufford t. justice or boss hogg as my head coach at this point…unless koetter starts to walk the sidelines in daisy dukes…maybe koetter’s milkshake can bring all the boys to the yard!

  54. adam from ny Says:

tomorrow night lil chuckie is gonna be waiving his big mofo stick in koetter’s direction…and koetter might just bend over and take it in front of 65k and a national audience

In My Humble Opinion, ANY AND ALL “FANS” NOT ALWAYS WANTING TO WIN SHOULD LEAVE THIS TEAMS FAN BASE! Sooner rather than later! This is not being a fan.
Is our last 3 games not against NFC SOUTH teams. If our “fans” want to not play to win against our own division you might not understand fandom. I want and beg and yell and scream for Wins and even more so against our NFC South rivals. That is why any team member, office staff, groundskeeper, coaches, or management who is not ALL FOR WANTING TO WIN EVERY GAME should be shown the door.
    Go Bucs!
