Four Bucs Didn’t Practice; Two Bucs Returned

December 14th, 2017

Out

Bad news on the Tampa Bay practice field today, and a little good news. Maybe.

The first official injury report of the week is out and Lavonte David (hamstring), Joe Hawley (illness), Gerald McCoy (biceps) and J.R. Sweezy (shin) did not practice.

Vernon Hargreaves returned from his hamstring issue and was “limited.” It was his first on-field work in weeks. Safety T.J. Ward (concussion) was a full participant. And defensive tackle Clinton McDonald (back) was limited in his first work this month.

The David news is most troubling. Hamstrings and hamstring, and this is a new injury. What a bonus it would be if McDonald could return to fortify the defensive line.

Sadly, Joe’s not sure a Hargreaves return would make any impact.

The Bucs will practice Friday and Saturday with their schedule change leading up to Monday Night Football.

LVD has been the best player on the team by far….with that said, keep him off the field….he has nothing to prove and we aint going anywhere this year….no need to play, get injured and have to go under the knife….let bond, glanton and joe dirt play….

VHG…you got to show me something….I know smitty isnt playing to your strengths but even ryan smith has looked decent at times….GO BUCS!!!!

^^^Crazy talk! you know JD can’t play weak side. Bond will step in JD will come in for Kwon if Bond gets hurt and needs to slide over. In other words JD won’t see the field Monday night.

Nice setup or shall we say…advanced excuses for a..MONDAY NIGHT LOSS?

  10. BigMacAttack Says:

It makes no difference. Can they bench Coach Koetter?

  11. SB Says:

Joe….there is No way a VH3 return would be helpful based on the fact that he hasn’t played in a month and Hammy’s aren’t an injury you can rush! I will now stick with the Atl. pick to win. Sorry MJ, new info and all.

  12. SB Says:

Don’t worry DB…….I caught the sardonicism.

  13. feelthepewterpower Says:

Joe, is it really Hargreaves or the system plus lack of pass rush from the front four? Buccs dont play press, give too much cushion, nor do they generate any pressure. Can you pin the blame all on Hargreaves…I think Vernon will be solid. Cornerback is one of the hardest positions to nail right away in the NFL.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Agree that corner takes more patience then other positions feel the power.

But it really baffles me that Hargreaves looked more capable last year then this year. That is very alarming to me. You can only blame so much on the coaches. He does have to be able to play more then just one type of coverage or his value really ain’t all that great. It isn’t like we are giving him the treatment Revis got when they tried to make him play different coverages. Revis was an established playmaker.

Hargreaves is far from any coach having to play him in only certain coverages. Just look at 2016, he played a lot of press coverages and he did make a few plays but also got scorched quite often.

He needs to play out the season and needs to show something…….despite the coverage. He hasn’t played good enough in any call to dictate the scheme around his ability, or lack there of

They Bucs have officially been eliminated from the playoffs. It don’t matter who they play now.

  17. Pickgrin Says:

Hargreaves needs all the live snaps he can get.

What? You illiterate? The truth comes out. Rest LVD. He has always been one of the best players on this team–a class act on field and off.

  19. SOEbuc Says:

I hope Licht is smart enough to not let these guys return even if they can return.

  20. SOEbuc Says:

I’m gonna find Koetter on the street and kick him in the b@!Ls so they can put him on IR. Gonna need offseason surgery hahaha.

  21. Redtop5588 Says:

Idk how anyone can blame the corners it’s unreal with the time An has to throw they would pick apart any corner in the league with the time our dL gives them to throe

  22. SB Says:

All good DB! We may differ in views often but we never differ in passion for our Team!

  23. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

Do these players want to play injured because they get paid more if they do?

  24. cmurda Says:

HBO sucked me in and made me like Joe Dirt. And then his pass coverage happened…. I mean didn’t happen. His pursuit of the ball carrier and nose for the football was impressive though. In our scheme, before Mike Smith when we had a scheme, all LB’s need to be competent in coverage. If Joe Dirt plays it will be to see if he someone in the plans as depth at LB. He might be, but by no means do I see him over LVD, Bond, Kwon or Beckwith.

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I don’t know why people are so quick to write off VHIII.

He is having a bad year, yes, but that happens to a lot of players at this stage. If he showed promise last year that means he has something in the tank.

Demoting him made a huge difference. He played like an animal after that. Unfortunately, the injury came along and he lost all opportunities to prove he could do better.

I think everyone is giving up far too soon.

As to Joe Dirt (aka Bully), the kid has a mean streak in him. Lord knows the defense needs a mean guy. It’s good to rotate him in…it will free up someone to pass rush from time to time.

  26. Reach87 Says:

Bonzai, Agree with you on VHIII. He has made plays before and has the ability. The stars have aligned for very few if any Bucs this year (note the win/loss record). He has skills and will again…hopefully on a more consistent Bucs Defense and overall team.

  27. FortMyersDave Says:

If they want 4-12, play Hargraves and make David inactive; a guarantee that the ATL gets 500 + yards …… Players do not have to underperform for a team to tank but the club can still tank by making sure certain players are ineligible and others start though they have no business doing so. I know that sounds like Dirk Koetter, doesn’t it???? Loviee Smith did the same and for one time justifiable, when he made sure the Bucs got to 2-14 when they were up 20-7 on New Orleans and managed an L to stay ahead of the tanking Titans…. This year the Buc will not be picking 1st, second or third (Thank Cleveland, Indy and the Giants for tanking better) but they could pick anywhere from 4 to 10 (5 wins) or 7 (more likel at 4-12). Depends at how the other botttom feeders tank. Colts actually helped Tampa last night by losing to Denver, pushing Tampa past Denver in the race to the top 5. Indy is either 3-13 or 4-12 (if they beat the Texans), so no chance they could pass Tampa due to their pathetic strength of schedule….. But #4 is viable if the Bucs lose and othewr bottom feeders like the Bears, Texans, San Fran all get to 5 wins and pass the Bucs! Heck its the only thing to pull for anymore, this team threw in the towel the minute Koetter gave up 3 in the desert and tried an idiotic play before halftime, bush league and it got him fired….
