Bombs Haven’t Worked

December 15th, 2017

DJax and Jameis not feeling it.

Startling but not really surprising from a hero of the nerds.

Over at BSPN, strip clubbing, fantasy-football-playing Matthew Berry was asked if he would take DeSean Jackson on his fantasy team this weekend. Berry scoffed at the notion.

It’s not because the Bucs stink. It’s because, for reasons unknown, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and Jackson cannot connect on bombs.

Berry had an ugly statistic to back this up. Watch it for yourself in the BSPN video below that appears to have been recorded away from any New England clothing-optional establishment.

By the way, Joe has to ask: How does one become a fantasy football expert? Does one just have to know how to run an Excel spreadsheet? Shouldn’t one need to have won tens of thousands of dollars in various high-stakes leagues?

eye-RAH! Kaufman has only played fantasy football once in his life prior to this year and he’s in the semifinals of Todd Wright’s/Hooters fantasy football league. If eye-RAH! wins, is he now an expert?

Is Jackson’s most effective route the comeback…..when he drives the corner then quickly stops and comes back for the reception? Probably so, will anyone admit that perhaps, maybe, Jameis just isn’t accurate enough with the long ball??

  2. What in the buc Says:

4 part problem…. play calling, O-line, Winston and Jackson. Last game they we trying to feed Jackson in short yardage and letting the chips fall where they may. At least they are trying to get it into his hands.

  3. Bird Says:

You have to take Jen sterger to a strip club for job interview

    That’s how

  4. Dr. Lob Says:

Its simple, Winston’s accuracy sucks. Jackson is a great receiver but the ball needs to be close enough to him for him to catch it.

  5. darin Says:

Dirk should draw up some of those slants. Ya know the one where he caught it n took it 41 yards. Oh wait those are simple routes, you dont bave to draw them up. You just have to call tbat play to help your qb and offense out. Naaaa lets keep going for bombs. N yes if Ira wins he is an expert! I’ll be looking for him to have his own fantasy show next year. He definitely doesnt get a show for picking against the spread, yet.

  6. Pepsi Says:

Yes obviously Ira is an expert at Fantasy Football.

Are you freaking kidding me? Of course we know. This fat elephant in the room has been squashing everyone around all year. Jameis Winston lacks the accuracy on the deep ball. In fact, he consistently lacks the accuracy period. The long the pass, the more errors in accuracy show. Being one foot off the mark from 10 feet equates to 6 feet off the mark at 70 feet. A 45-50 yard is off 12 feet or more in simple math alone. Add to that it appears DJax isn’t interested in going 6-12 feet out of his way…in any direction…to go get it. Why is Evans so effective with Winston? Because he’s a huge target with amazing reach to get the bad ones. We saw the same with Freeman and VJax.

I have never seen so many unsolved mysteries for a team!!!!!!! Yet there have been some that have dropped hints of the truth that the local media seems unable to find!!!!!!! There was a poster just yesterday that JW3 was using ice packs on his throwing shoulder way before the injury this year!!!!!!! Just like pitching having “dead arm” and losing velocity, they chuck it harder and lose procession of accuracy!!!!!!!!!

But the sheep have been trained well!!!!!!! and scream play-calling, even though teams dare them to throw the deep ball by crowding short zones!!!!!!! then when other teams go lite prevent, and the Bucs are able to throw the quick slant the sheep yell that we should have done that all game!!!! LOL and they think the big problem is play-calling!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

  9. Pickgrin Says:

and yet DJax is on pace for about 850 yards on 60 catches this year. Not bad for a #2 receiver on a team loaded with other good passing options in an offense that has not “clicked” about 75% of the time this year…

  10. OAR Says:

850yds would be a career low for Desean when playing a entire/full season.

  11. OAR Says:

Our problem is the bombs were using aren’t the “smart” ones!

  12. OAR Says:

As a matter of a fact, Desean’s longest caught bomb this year is only 41 yards. Definitely a career low.

  13. SB Says:

The only Bucs player I have in ANY of my FF leagues is Cam Brate.

  14. Bob in Valrico Says:

    @ Realist
The tired or dead arm is a distinct possibility. Especially since he probably overworked the arm in college while being both a reliever and a QB.
Believe he had similar problem around the combine. At any rate some of his passes were extremely wobbly and more passes seem to be going to near the dirt in front of receivers.

  15. The Buc Realist Says:

I am not saying that he is the greatest deep ball thrower or has pin-point accuracy, But he can hit the deep ball!! I think some forget that JW3 likes to work a lot to get chemistry and with all the new guys, some where down the line got arm fatigue!!!!! Look at the video at the 2:30 mark and 3:05 and you will see well placed deep balls from JW3!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Jameis was having no issues until he was made to force the ball to Jackson. Before that, everything was fine.

Jackson is the issue, not Jameis.

  17. Bob in Valrico Says:

Don’t believe anybody is forcing Jameis to throw deep passes. We saw a lot of the deep incompletions to Evans last year. And when asked about the play Koetter said it was Jameis’s idea in one game. Jameis will try to throw deep passes till the cows come home, its in his genes. That said, is his arm or shoulder preventing accurrate passes. Who knows? But I saw some strange looking passes coming out from Jameis last week.
