Absolutely 100% right. They have some talented players but as a team not at all.

  2. DBS Says:

Change players, coaches and Gm’s. Constantly. Always the same result. LOSERS. That is on the owners. They do not know how to put the winning formula in place. Until they sell this team to someone that does it will not change.

  3. C eh N eh D eh Says:

Clean house and rebuild…AGAIN!…by the time Ryan, Newton and Brees retire the Bucs might be a contender…

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

Bucs have some talented players. All NFL teams do. from what I see, Our Defense just does not play well together. Where is the anger? The hard hitting? The..created fear? the awesome pass rush/… Matty Ice looked like a Ballarina taking a coffee break on a lot of his throws. Bring back a tough kick A.s Defense. And with a slightly above average Offense like we have, Wins will follow. If Smitty is fired? Fire Koetter too. great offenses are Jim Dandy. But they don’t stop the other team from scoring more points than you can score. Even a blind A.s bat can see this!

  5. SOEbuc Says:

We had a sh#ty player day yesterday, but there are lots of talented players. If they could get the correct play calling and schemes, this could be a very good team. Koetter’s horrible play calls and Mike Smith’s terrible mile long drop back scheme is by far not showing what these players have to offer. Can’t say the players have been playing well but the coaches have most certainly not been coaching well.

  6. Hodad Says:

I saw a lot of great receiver play yesterday, Evans wasn’t one of them. He will want to be paid more then all of them tho. I’m with you Rock, not giving him a big contract. Godwin can easily replace him. Get draft picks, use that money elsewhere.

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

Don’t let joe hear this!!!!!! He thinks it is DM22 and playcalling that is holding this team back!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Realist. Get over yourself. You were all in on how talented this team was just like all of us. As was Koetter. The fact is that they ARE a talented team. But due to a multitude of factors, MANY of which stem from this coaching staff, they aren’t playing any where near their potential.

Why is it that we get these players that look like future Stars as rookies, and they don’t seem to get all that much better? Why aren’t these players getting developed Realist? Because the coaches haven’t had enough time?

Hello, McFly? Doug Pederson didn’t need more than 2 years. Mike Zimmer didn’t need more than 2 years. Sean McVay has turned a surefire bust into an All-Pro QB. This Coaching staff is not getting it done, and you can make whatever excuses you want for them as to why that is. But I’ve seen enough. Koetter the HC has already peaked. Just good enough to miss the playoffs.

  9. Bobby M. Says:

We have talent….unfortunately not in the right places to establish an identity. Games are won in the trenches….you have to have a solid o-line….or d-line. We have neither. We wasted a lot of quality picks on positions that simply aren’t that big of an impact. A WR, S, K, and TE….not too mention a CB who is awful. I like to believe if we invested 5 picks into DE/DT….we would have found one stud and one productive guy. If either line is dominant, it creates so much more opportunity for the rest of the team.

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

“You are what your record says you are!”

We are a bad (not talent-less!) football team/organization.
    Coaching? What f’ing coaching?!!!

  11. C eh N eh D eh Says:

    2018 UFA
    ————
    Grimes = pay the man!
Fitzpatrick = better keep him too
    mcdoanld = keeper, no depth
Ward, Sims = goodbye and good riddance !
pamphile, e.smith, tandy, stocker = it was a Bucs life, lucky for you, it will end…

    CUTS >> Martin
TRADES >> McCoy + Winston bonanza!

Clayborn will be UFA, maybe bring him back LOL

…as you can see, I just dont care anymore. A person can only take so much torture…and I thought that 12 year Doug Williams curse was bad…The Chuckie curse is worse!

  12. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @ Realist

What signs can you see with this staff at this 1.5 season mark vs Lovie Smith at the 1.5 season mark? Please break it down because I’m genuinely just curious as to your thought process here.

The parallels are kind of crazy. Both defenses showed improvement towards the end of year 1; and then regressed massively in year 2. Our defense is currently one of the worst in the league now 1.5 seasons in; with no signs of any improvement; and only signs of regression – similar to Lovie.

The offense has a ton of talent -more than Lovie had – and hasn’t made any significant improvement.

The only difference I can think of is that we beat really good teams during the 5 win streak and Lovie never really did that or had a stretch like that at any point during his tenure.

The trench talent is the same or better than it was when Lovie was here. The complaints on the defense are similar – soft scheme / soft players. Off coverage and corners getting roasted and no pass rush. Not doing basic things the fans all can see – like double’ing Julio on obvious passing situations or rolling S coverage his way. You can still blitz LBs and do that…

I guess I’m just wondering what you see that I don’t – that would lead you to trash Lovie Smith’s coaching / team / performances; and not hold this staff to the same level of scrutiny? Seriously just break it down lol I want to have hope if it’s there to be had

  13. Ramon Says:

We have talent at some skill positions but this team is being built from the outside in instead of the inside out. Our trenches, the foundation of a team, has been neglected and has led to this debacle. You simply can’t build a beautiful hous on sand and expect good results. This is squarely on Jason Licht.

  14. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

This team has more talent then the last years team, who won more games.
I think the problem is coaching, on both sides of the ball.
Looks like the NFL have figured Smith and Koetter out to me.

  15. Grt2 Says:

Ramon you said it best. Man I don’t think you pay ME either. Spend the money in the trenches. Jameis has to make his WR better and I think he will. I love ME but let’s do what the Patriots do and what the Saints did not pay their #1 WR.

  16. RealityCheck Says:

I wouldn’t dream of dealing Evans, but I agree on the rest. After decades of this, our season tickets are ending this year. I’ll cheer from home and save my $10 for a six pack instead of a single Bud.

  17. 813bucboi Says:

    LC
    I agree!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  18. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

Helz yes Rock spitting fire today love it! So very true. It’s a shart sandwich in the coaching area. If they had an OC that could get DJAX the ball and Mike was used correctly YACs don’t matter. You can go long with Mike, he excels on the long ball. Koetter decoys for decoys for decoys so plays end up going to Hump,Sims and TEs way too often, not your take it to the house playmakers. 2ND and 2 you don’t run it at least once? A bad run for Barber is 2 yards sheeesh.

I forget the exact play during that debacle called playcalling with the game on the line but remember a falcon corner watching all the movement crap and just sit there and wait for Fitz to throw to Hump and tackle him for 3 yard loss. It was hysterical. The corner didn’t move literally stood there… waiting.

  19. Bucsfanman Says:

    ^^^ PRE-DICT-A-BULL!!!!!!!!
To me, I doon’t think there’s any question as to what is plaguing this team right now: Coaching!

  20. Capt.Tim Says:

If we had signed Calais Campbell- or any good DE,
We would be deep in the playoff hunt.

    Did everyone watch yesterdays game?
Matt Ryan literally had no pressure on many plays.
They doubled McCoy with a Center and a guard. Sometimes a RB would chip him also.
Done. Nobody else on that sad excuse of a line could make Ryan nervous.
I’ll bet you, when the Atlanta coaches review the tapes- they will think Ryan didnt have a good game. On many plays, Ryan threw to his targeted reciever.
He had plenty of time to wait for the deep routes to develop. If he had waited another second or so( he had plenty of time!), be would have thrown for several more deep TDs.

This team has talent. It gets demoralized every game- watching opposing QBs disect our Defense. No lead is big enough. No great defensive stop matters.
Our Rookie safety and CB – playing great- means nothing.

Ive said it a thousand times.

If you cant pressure the QB, you cant win in todays NFL.
And the Bucs keep proving it- every year since the magnificent Simione Rice left.
Every year, the same disappointments. Every year- not living up to expectations

And every year- its the same reason
We have the best pass rushing DT in the league. Yet every year- management REFUSES to get McCoy any help.
Did we need Desean more than Campbell?

They should fire everyone- right up to the owners. Ownership should ensure that, whoever they hire- thinks that a pass rush is a top priority.

  21. Swanee Says:

True, we don’t have the top talented players on this team. We have to have superstars to even have an opportunity to make it to a division championship or Super Bowl. The Eagles the patriots the Steelers the Saints the Vikings all have superstars at quarterback. These teams are all headed into the playoffs . We are not or we have not drafted elite talent in the past three drafts. The Buccaneers organization has a week scouting department that is having issues with evaluating and assessing true NFL talent prior to the draft. In my opinion, lavante David is the only pro bowler we currently have on this team. This losing can only be turned around through the draft and it will take approximately the 2018 and 2019 draft before you will see a playoff caliber team. However the The scouting department that is with the buccaneer organization at this time would have to be Terminated along with GM…

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Rock is wrong on this one. Sorry.

  23. denjoe Says:

Most of our players, that we Drafted are over rated. It’s called Buc’s colored glasses. How many from this team will go to the pro bowl? That’s not to say they are using the players that we do have the right way. The gambles that the idiotic GM made cost us dearly. He is not a team builder IMO. We need a football guy at the top, the GM should answer to him. The coaching has been lousy, they act like they have no answers on how to fix anything. This idiotic rotating of positions is just ticking the players off. When you don’t know enough to put your best DB on Julio Jones something is wrong! When you have 3 downs to 2yds and you don’t run the ball once something is wrong!

  24. GhostofSchiano Says:

Cleveland Browns = Tampa bay Bucs

  25. bucs_365 Says:

Rock Riley is dumb. Of course the offense is talented. Talent doesn’t always equate to wins, as we can see. They have more than enough talent to score points in bunches. What they appear to lack is motivation, or good game plans, or good play calling, or consistency, or a combination of all the above… but the talent is there, and they just have to figure out how to put it all together. Riley is dumb.
