Saints 30, Buccaneers 10

November 5th, 2017

The early punt block sort of said it all.

Joe feels absolutely kicked in the gut, punched in the groin.

Again, the Bucs were non-competitive. That’s four crap shows in eight games. That’s the kind of stuff that rolls heads, Rightfully so.

Dirk Koetter has no answers. Jameis Winston’s pregame gobbling of Ws is meaningless. This team has no leadership and questionable talent and desire.

The NFL is filled with parity, but not with your Bucs. Why? Why is this team content to have its ass kicked?

Heartless stuff.

What happened after being a field goal kicker away from victory against the Patriots? Every since then the Bucs have taken their game down a couple of notches.

Joe hasn’t felt this sick in several years.

There’s too much talent for this team to be where it’s at — 2-6. Two and freakin’ six. Unreal.

Last year wasn’t a mirage, but it’s 4,000 miles away and the Bucs don’t have a map.

Its a mess for sure. On to next week where we get embarrassed at home in the Josh McCown revenge game. Most likely without Jameis and Mike Evans (should be suspended for the hit on Lattimore)

  3. Chris in WA Says:

At this point the best solution from a fans prospective is to completely gut the team and start a 2 year rebuilding process (Keep LVD, Beckworth, Alexander, O.J. Howard, VH3, Marpet, and maybe Winston). Trade away veterans for good draft picks while we can. Focus on the OL and DL in the drafts that come.

If the team does bad at least we can be prepared for it and have an excuse. If the team does good we can be pleasantly surprised like the Bills and Jets have been.

There is a culture of losing and as much as I hate to see some of my favorite players go you need to sometimes cut away healthy tissue to prevent the spread of infections and cancer. Coach and GM have to go as well for obvious reasons.

  4. Warrenfb12 Says:

    Talent isn’t questionable. It’s there.

  5. BucsFanInNC Says:

We’ll clean house after this year. New GM and coach.

  6. Matts17 Says:

Joe, I believe you over value the “talent” on this roster. There maybe 3 guys on this team you could potentially build around. The rest is cannon fodder.

  7. lurker Says:

no-one uses maps any more. perhaps that is the problem.

  8. JonBuc Says:

Joe unfiltered…I like it. I don’t think they have much talent after all. This team may be the worst in the league right now…especially with Garoppolo joining the 9ers.

  9. Supersam Says:

Your quarterback is a joke Joe a JOKE!!! Let’s go eat a W while licking his fingers!? Is he on drugs!? This is the fool you guys wanted to draft!? your a joke Joe for babying this clown

  10. BucsSuck Says:

    Blow it all up

  11. Ryan K Says:

ZERO ENTERTAINMENT VALUE WITH THIS TEAM

IT STARTS AT THE TOP WITH THE GLAZERS

    SINCE GRUDEN:
    RAHEEM MORRIS
    GREG SCHIANO
    LOVE SMITH
    DIRK KOETTER
    ….. disgusting…

  12. Greg Says:

Time to clean house, this team has no strengths can’t do anything right despite having talent

  13. bucster Says:

Instead of writing articles about Doug Martin, Joe, write something about how Jason “Joe named a beer after me” Licht should be packing his bags. I didn’t think we could get a worse GM than Dominik, but the Glazers succeeded.

  14. unbelievable Says:

I thought we just need to get rid of Martin? That’s obviously the biggest problem with this team, right?

5 coaches that have been quit on by the players…
    (Gruden, Morris, Schiano, Lovie, Koetter)

  15. Onebucdude Says:

The offense is predictable I can call most of the plays before the run them. jamies is still on the same level as his rookie year and showing no maturity. and there is not enough talent on defense . This team is a joke.

  16. Not there yet Says:

If I hear that eating some W’s speech one more time I’ll lose my mind. Please keep this teams pre game losing speech away from the media I just can’t take it anymore. Last year couple years he was speaking from the heart, I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about now

  17. JMarkBuc Says:

And then this, JW. Is done…

  18. King C Says:

Joe forgot the “Winning” Head Coach in front of Koetter. LOL

  19. Rob Says:

Fu**in quitters… I’ve been looking forward to this game for over a year. First time seeing the Bucs live since I moved from FL. Everything from pregame to final product was gutless. You could tell no one cares. I purposely bought a seat in shouting distance from the bench, and it was more than lifeless. They seemed resigned from the start. Before I started the long walk home, I made sure to call the “players” what they are. Fu**ing BUMS.

  20. Rob Says:

This whole team sucks as much a suck can suck. Here are a few words that describe our Buccaneers…
gutless, inept, quitters, dumb, idiotic, embarrassing, non-professional, delusional, underachieving, overhyped, classless, money stealing, twig carriers, bullied, pedestrian, candy a$$, leaderless, boneheaded, and many other choice words I can’t write without getting cut.
Absolute train wreck of a franchise that needs to be gutted like a fish.

  21. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Chris….I agree with your concept and most of the players you mention but I think we have a better core than we think.

I would put some criteria into my decision making…anybody over 25 is gone unless we can’t possible live without them and they play cheap.

Realist says GMC would fetch a 1st and 3rd round draft pick. Does the board agree? If so I gotta make that deal. I’m a GMC fan but his time is running out and next year may be rebuilding…lets get him on a good team and if we got those picks…we would have our choice of DE’s next year because of two #1’s!!!
And if we can trade a few more players and stockpile some more 2’s and 3’s and 4s …we have some talent…some need to go…DJAX…all the vets over 25…time for a genuine youth movement.

  22. JimmyJack Says:

    Unprepared football again.

We are the least competitive team in football. I’m watching these guys play with there heads in the clouds and they are just left of the field like nobody cares………Ray Jay will sound like a library til the next concert because no prideful fans are going to care too much if this team wins or not. There is absolutely nothing to get excited about anymore.

  23. unbelievable Says:

There is no way you are getting a 1 and a 3 for GMC.

  24. Dom is gone Says:

Eagles Rams Jags and Titans may all be playoff teams this year while we are battling the Browns for the #1 pick….. team has quit on coach and Winston pregame speech showed it all

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Good….I thought I was the only one who thinks Koetter’s playcalling sucks….

Let’s give it to Doug on almost every 1st down…..then let’s go with an empty backfield on first when we don’t…..what happened to play action on first down, Dirk?
On third down, we throw short of the needed yardage or downfield with low-percentage passes….
We haven’t thrown to Humphries early in games….and misuse Sims badly.

Dirk, if you want to have any chance of saving your job…..turn the playcalling over to Monken. He just might save you.

  26. JimmyJack Says:

StPete I disagree about your core theory……We don’t play like a team…..We only have random good players with little direction…..that’s not a core Imo

  27. denjoe Says:

We need massive benching’s of starters.

  28. theodore Says:

    A 1 and a 3 for GMC is laughable. We should get 2, 3, maybe 4 1s for him.

  29. Desanova Says:

It’s a dumpster fire for sure. Bucs are 49ers-level bad. Bad draft picks, underperforming free agents, underconditioned players, predictable play-calling on both sides of the ball, too many throw-away plays. This team is not put together well and the coaching is not accounting for our weaknesses (no zone blitzes, no screen plays/easy routes). The sad part is we keep thinking it’s the bottom and they’re setting new bottoms every week. For the 2nd time in 2 weeks, and almost never before that, I’ve had to step away before it’s over. It’s like watching paint dry anymore.

The Bucs are easily 2 years away from playoffs and only then with a very well-executed player turnover. It’s OK to give 92 a contract but you have to also have a real pass rush otherwise. We know who Jameis is. He’s going to be our QB. His turnovers and refusal to run or check down are going to continually hurt. He’s not top-5-good enough to put poor players and predictable plays around him and we win.

We have to ask if Licht/Koetter is the engine that gets us there. I think we may have seen where that gets us.

  30. BucFan4Life Says:

Mike Smith should be walked out of One Buc Place. Maybe Monte Kiffin is available.

  31. JonBuc Says:

The group formerly known as the stick carriers are now known as the cotton ball carriers. Sorry fellas…same old Yucs.

  32. Ryan K Says:

    @Rob
I had sideline passes for the pre-game warm ups in Minnesota. YOU ARE CORRECT. THIS TEAM IS LIFELESS. NO EMOTION. NO PASSION. They are collecting pay checks and then leaving Tampa to play real football and cement their legacy as a FOOTBALL PLAYER.

  33. nate_tweetz Says:

    – Is it me, or does Koetter get more creative with his playcalling when Fitz is in the game?

    – No to Gruden. Those calling for Gruden were the same jokers happy when we hired Lovie Smith. Stop it with the nostalgia.

    – Our defense is playing really BAD! and it’s not the “young guys”. Kwon, GMC, Lavonte all missed tons of tackles and misread gaps all day long.

    – All of the things we were screaming at Licht to fix this off-season, he ignored and it showed.

    – Koetter please stop it with the damn toss play!

    – Should have tried to move players for draft picks before the draft deadline. Dropped the ball on that too.

  34. lambchop Says:

Dumbest pregame speech ever. Apparently Winston didn’t learn from last year at Dallas. Dude is a PR machine with no spine. Talks like Brady, plays like Jamarcus Russell. He talks like he’s actually mature and learned from his mistakes. Yea, no he’s proven he’s full of crap. We have a maturity problem at QB. He is going to end up being a terrible draft pick. Just my hunch. Coaching staff stinks. Time to tank and rebuild from scratch. Staff from both sides gonna be gone and lots of over the hill players too. Maybe some surprise players with no heart. I would rather trade VH3 than GMC. But, in all fairness, GMC has more value and deserves to go to a winning team. He is not the problem. At least they gave the rock to Barber more. Not sure what happened with Martin cuz he’s actually productive, even though Joe thinks he needs to be a 1,000 yard back right away after missing 4 straight games. We don’t give any of those backs a chance to get any consistency. This was the first game Barber got the man’s share of the carries and he played decent given WE DO HAVE a crappy OL. Both OTs suck.

There is some serious behind the scenes problems in the locker room. No other explanation as to how this team is playing like the Browns with the management of the Bungles.

  35. DBS Says:

Yes last year was a mirage. You just chose to look at it thru rose colored glasses.
Many of the game they won they just did win. Choked when it counted. And Weapons for Winstons? Well he did more with less. You have the same coaches. In other words they got Lucky as Hell. The preseason showed this offense and fearless leader put up how many points? If you bought in to the hype that is your fault. These are the Bucs. Coaches, GM’s and players and get the same results. Guess where the problem is.

  36. BUCLUV55 Says:

Glazers should think about talking with Scot McCloughan about coming is as GM and talking Harbaugh away from Michigan.

  37. BUCLUV55 Says:

Better yet, hire Mr Brooks as pres of football operations and have him round those guys up.

  38. darin Says:

It is obvious to me. Not sure about everyone else. The moment dirk gave up in the 1st half in arz his team gave up too. All downhill from there. Time to move on. Fire em all!!!! Boooooooo

  39. Herbiebbuc Says:

IMA bucs fan who was telling everyone to relax! Scrrrew that I blame the coaches point blank period.. I really want gruden let’s bring back the times of loosing playoff games rather than high draft picks we have the players #brinhbackchucky

  40. Fire Goodell Says:

The Rams with 31 year old rookie head coach Sean McVay blew out the Giants 51-17 today.

Sean McDermott who interviewed with the Bucs after Lovie was fired is 5-3 in Buffalo.

The Jaguars for years have been a undisciplined team until Tom Coughlin took over football operations and are also 5-3.

The Eagles have the best record in the league with a 2nd year QB and head coach.

  41. Jim Says:

Somebody please tell me what a benched Jameis was thinking when he deliberately knocked/flicked an opponent in the back of his head???

  42. Pauric Says:

    4 w

  43. Aubpierce Says:

I said it two years ago and I will say it again. Winston is a right handed Tebow and really not as good. What was his wonderlic score, a minus 27. After his antics today that might be high.

  44. Desanova Says:

He was pissed at 30-3. He does care about such things. Lattimore was hanging around in front of the Bucs bench rubbing salt in the wound and Jameis couldn’t take it anymore. Players do those little pushes to each other all the time and Jameis hasn’t had a lot of experience being an inactive player so probably saw himself as still in the play.

Evans should not have done what he did either, but perhaps only saw his QB get pushed and btw, was vastly underutilized on the day and upset as well.

At 2-6, when 6-2 was expected, things like this are going to happen. Only winning teams hold back for the greater good at stake.

  45. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Theodore, I hope that’s sarcasm. 4 #1s for McCoy? Did you see the Darius trade. Realist/StPete, the only way we get a 1st and 3rd for McCoy is we give a 1st in the trade. At McCoys age the most we’d get straight up is a 4th. Gotta factor age and contract.

  46. orlbucfan Says:

Dirk Koetter has one week to sit down with the offense he has built over the LAST 3 YEARS. He needs to ask for their help in winning again. If he’s that screwed up this season, then ask the players for their input. They are that good on this offense. PERIOD!!

  47. Clw JB Says:

Zero ability to adjust to anything the other team does – can’t tackle at all- JW missed so many open throws it’s sad

    Players have given up

HC is in way over his head, looks like a grandpa trying to get his JV little league boys to play harder

It’s a joke of a product and will be cancelling my tickets for next year in the morning

We are a few years away AGAIN!!!!!!!

  48. JabooBuc Says:

As a Jameis supporter, it’s really hard for me to watch the pregame “eat a W” speech and believe that this is a leader of men.

  49. mark2001 Says:

Nate…you are kidding, aren’t you? Many of us thought Gruden got a raw deal…Monty dumped out on him, the team lost a number of games and missed the playoffs, and because some local characters and guys likely like you had it out for him because he wasn’t enough of a “players coach” and didn’t use Mike enough, he was canned. I was never for the canning of Gruden… he was a proven winner who coached two SB teams, including Oakland the same year that we won ours. And BTW…I was among the First to say that hiring Lovie was a horrible decision. My one mistake is that I thought after Jameis seemed to be growing rapidly, and giving Koetter the HC job was a good idea. Get the best GM we can…don’t give that power to Gruden….but you can’t do better than Gruden as a HC.

  50. BuccaneEric75 Says:

JabooBuc, I hear ya. I like the fact that he’s trying to rally the team at the start, but I don’t think his style is working. I didn’t hear the speech, only saw a replay without sound once the game started. It looked lame and I think he still has the mindset of being around college players. Motivational speeches are good, but let’s not go too far. Eating W’s? What does that even mean? NFL vets will roll their eyes at that. How about we try something new… less talk, more action. 30 year olds don’t want a rah rah college speech, they want their leader to perform on the field. If NFL vets need a rah rah speech to play well, then we’ve got the wrong players.

  51. JabooBuc Says:

BuccaneEric75 , exactly! Just watch the video and the faces of the players watching him. They look like they are completely over it.

  52. Cobraboy Says:

    Kicked in the gut?

    Why?

This is a really bad team. Seriously: did anyone expect a different outcome from this group of passionless losers?

Haven’t you seen enough to judge how bad they are, how poorly coached and undisciplined?

A soft training camp = a soft team. These guys were in Disney while the HBO camera encouraged immature, unfocused behavior.

  53. Cobraboy Says:

@Mark2001: Canning Gruden was a bad move. I said it at the time. And hiring the subsequent clowns was even worse. I gave Koetter some slack because of his first two years in Tampa. But his third season, so far, is worse than anything Morris or Schiano produced.

And I won’t be surprised if it gets worse this season.

  54. BuccaneEric75 Says:

JabooBuc, I agree. The look on DJax and Dotsons’ face is priceless. They obviously felt the same emotion for Winston that I had when I just watched it… embarrassment.

  55. 813bucboi Says:

    @realist….

Show yourself!!!!….don’t hide….dirk has got blown out yet again!!!…he’s good as gone!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  56. ARGH_M8E Says:

Watching on gamepass… 8:28 left in the 3rd… goodnight. Embarrassing

  57. lambchop Says:

    @JabooBuc,

I saw the same thing. I think he needs to go back to more emotional based speeches like being a family but I my gut tells me there are people in the lockerroom who are malcontents and don’t care too much about family and team.

It was a lame lame lame pre-game speech that you might say for laughs at the tail end of the game when you’re ACTUALLY winning. Otherwise it looks stupid.
