Pressure Test On The Way

November 12th, 2017

New York weighs in

Jets fans, media and players know very well what Bucs starter Ryan Fitzpatrick is all about.

And that’s why they’re drooling this morning.

Fitzpatrick can get the job done. He is a legitimate NFL quarterback, but as a Jets player he crumbled often under pressure.

Joe’s followed various Jets outlets all week, and they’ve been chattering about how the Jets should throw the dogs at Fitzpatrick and just sit back and watch him make mistakes under the pressure of the blitzes.

Even noted Jets beat reporter Ralph Vacchiano named that as the Jets’ No. 1 key to victory: coming after Fitzpatrick and forcing him into the bad picks he’ll deliver under duress. (Video here).

Well, the Bucs have pass blocked well this season, including from their running backs, and they certainly have the bodies to max protect for Fitzpatrick and let him find his various weapons.

Of course, a legitimate rushing attack would certainly help a lot. Hello, Peyton Barber.

All of tampa will be shaking their heads today

Tha short passing attack everyone was screaming about will be in display. 2 seconds and the ball will be out

No jameis and no mike evans

Tampa fans heads will spin and wonder why now and why did koetter finally call the short passing game all year

Jason lichts 2 draftees will be stars today. Oj and godwin will display run after catch skills we havent seen in 5 years

Today at 4pm everyone will be shaking their heads and mumble…

    WHY NOW WHY NOW

  2. Hodad Says:

They better give D.Smith help with some chip blocks, or leave a back in on his side to protect Fitz. This could be a long day for Fitz if they don’t.

  3. ClodHopper Says:

It’s ok. We’re in good hands. You ever see that life cycle of Ryan Fitzpatrick meme? He’s playing as a backup to an injured starter. This is where he excels!!

  4. mdsbuc Says:

Has the O-line really pass protected that well, or has Jameis (Fran Tarkenton) Winston scooted so well to avoid the rush? That’s one thing he does do pretty well.

  5. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

A good running game is an answer for a blitz, and so are screen passes.

  6. Fire the glazers Says:

I’m going to TiVo this affair. I’m not confident at all that our Bucs are going to show up. And I don’t want to watch them poop the bed on live television. I hope they do well, and I have faith our team is still good enough to beat these JETS. But if I’m a bettin man, I do not put money on the Bucs winning today. Hopefully Conte knocks ASJ outta the game and Kwon pops McCown like he did a few years ago in preseason.
    GO BUCS!!!

  7. BucsSuck Says:

I foresee several bubble screens to Hump and D-Jax

  8. Roy T. Buford Says:

My expectations are zero. So I won’t be disappointed as I leave the game (be it 3rd quarter blowout or end of a close game). Looks like it will be wet today, favoring the run, and it’s good Matt Forte is out. But hey, 3 and 6 doesn’t sound so bad. Oh wait, yes it does.

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Yeah

I’m no longer planning my Sundays around bucs games for 2017……………….

I think Fitz will be Fitz and could pull a upset

Or Donovan “turn-style” will get Fitz injured

  10. JWBUCS Says:

Any Bucs Win right now would be a great lift for this Franchise, the players who Badly need a “W” the Coaches who I believe have talent and certainly the patient fans…

  11. darin Says:

We should also blitz and watch mccown crack, but we wont. We should have against keenum, palmer, newton etc also, but decided to play 10 yds off and rush 3 or 4. If its not working dont fix it, says mike smith.

  12. darin Says:

    Oh and chris
Youre right. But do we really expect our coaches to coach better than anyone elses anymore? I sure dont. Its hard to be this bad with this much talent. Im still waiting on the second draw play of the year to be called, considering the first went for 36 yds i believe, way back in week 2 or 3. Lets just keep running into a wall and expect it to break sometime I guess.

  13. Tackleblockwin Says:

I kinda wish I could be at this game. I want to see who is tanking and who is still trying. This team needs to fight off the losing mentality THIS season. If some of the starters are just going through the motions pull them out. Expecting next years free agency signings and draft to fix this teams mentality is loser mentality.

As for the coaches, Mike Smith should try a game on the sideline. He needs to try something different. If for nothing else than to let the players know he is watching and listening.

And Dirk needs to be creative with playcalling. Dirk has proven he can call a good game. He just needs to mix it up more. He has really stunk it up with playcalling this season. No more vanilla. Time to find his little green notebook.

I’m getting very nervous!!! Nervous about success. Can you imagine the war that will break out if Fitzpatrick wins the next two games and looks really good doing it?

The fans…hopefully not the team…will split into those in the #3 camp who believe he gives us the best chance of keeping the streak alive…and the Fitz camp that wants him to keep the job until he loses.

I still believe #3 is the future….but I really have trouble benching a guy who is on a two game winning streak…especially if it’s the kind of turnaround that will be required of THIS team.

  15. ClodHopper Says:

    St Pete
I agree and also, what if the rest of team plays with motivation and has a fire in their belly. That will just add to it.

  16. Tom Says:

Sorry, as of right now I don’t think #3 is the future for the Bucs. Of course things could change. Right now he doesn’t look any better than Fitz.

  17. MadMax Says:

Im pulling for Fitz and the guys. This one counts. Against former bucs mcclown and a$$jackhole….I want to see us win!! Only game im watching. GO BUCS!!!!!
