DeSean Jackson Highlights Injury List

November 29th, 2017

DeSean Jackson went down in Atlanta

The first official Bucs injury report of the week was revealed today and the surprise of the list was no surprise to Joe.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson missed practice with a foot injury today. He was joined by Vernon Hargreaves (hamstring), Doug Martin (concussion), Clinton McDonald (back), Josh Robinson (hamstring), and T.J. Ward (concussion).

Joe shot the photo above early in the Bucs-Falcons game Sunday. Jackson, after the first or second offensive series, headed to trainer table and his foot/ankle area was worked on. He didn’t look happy.

Jackson finished the game with eight catches on 11 targets for 60 yards. It was his busiest game of the season.

Joe sure hopes Jackson is ready Sunday. The Bucs could sure use his experience, especially in cold weather. And when healthy, he remains nearly uncoverable, though the Bucs have had a hard time sending accurate throws his way.

    If he doesn’t play ME13 is gonna have 20 targets.

    If I hear one more TV commentator declare that DeSean Jackson “takes the top off” of opposing defenses, I am going to get proprioception. Maybe I already have it. More Glazer loot out the window! #PaidFloridaVacation

  3. Lamarcus Says:

    Djx needs to be a leader. I hated this signing. Djx is always injured anyway and came here cuz of the heat. Defenses game plan his speed. He is more effective as a inside guy BUT the more u throws to me13 the more opportunities djx gets where the qbs are more comfortable throwing deep and not always have to pinpoint the accuracy cuz of those safeties waiting. He needs to be worked in but we all know djx is constantly in Jws ear like give me give me give me and then complains to Koetter. Koetter is force feeding him. If I was Jw I’ll be overthrowing his a $$ too. And if djx really want those balls he should go get them.

  4. Bobby M. Says:

    I actually want to see how Winston operates with less weapons….I think Godwin in the lineup is less pressure to go deep and forces Winston to take what’s there.

    He has done it his entire career. He would of continued if we could hit a deep pass over 30 yards. He’s been open countless times, so I disagree with you a bit on that one respectfully DR.

  6. Pickgrin Says:

    Forecasted high of 45 – low of 39 in Green Bay on Sunday – doesn’t exactly qualify as “cold weather” for football.

  7. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Lamarcus,

    D-Jax wasn’t brought here to be a leader. He was brought here to make explosive plays. In my opinion, it’s not usually his fault that’s not happening. He has blown by guys and just been missed. He’s made catches that were so inaccurate it didn’t allow him to run after the catch. However, he’s caught some and had it brought back by penalties. He’s created pass interference calls. He’s taken short passes and turned them into big gains. Of course there hasn’t been enough of those plays, but that same level of disappointment goes across the board on this team. Evans hasn’t made the plays we expect. Jameis hasn’t made the throws we expect. Brate hasn’t made the plays we expect (as of late). Humphries hasn’t taken that next step. The list goes on and on. These guys didn’t all forget how to play at the same time. That clearly shows that the system is the issue. We can’t run the ball, which is absolutely critical in this offense. We don’t protect consistently, so the QB is taking a beating and has to rush throws to long developing routes. I’ve said it all year, our offense has no rhythm to it whatsoever. This is not the fault of D-Jax. The system needs to be changed to better fit the players we have. We are talented enough to score lots of points, but the players are not being put in the position to do that.

    If Wards out Sunday wonder if Smitty will play Tandy or stick with a 2 man rotation. Lord forbid him making himself look like a moron because he hasn’t played him all season. I mean all Tandy did last season was help them win their last 5 games. Hope he plays him and he proves that the clowns should have been playing him all season. And oh yeah maybe they will win the game Sunday!!!!! Then when Ward returns he can sit Tandy again and lose the rest of the games this season…… Smith needs to go as he doesn’t have a clue. But he has to Coach them better!!!

  9. BrianBucs Says:

    Doesn’t matter, Jameis can’t hit him anyway

  10. Bird Says:

    Yah. HE should have 5 more tds this year on wide open bombs

  11. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs fans' Says:

    DJax is probably the best player on our team. No joke.

    We just aren’t using him effectively or hitting him with accurate passes consistently.

  12. Lamarcus Says:

    Hawaii

    Of course there is a system failure when u have djx in your locker. I would of snagged alshon as what he does for Wentz he could of done w winston. Idk I have a different mind set against wr as I played wr in high school freshman yr. We were practicing and I didn’t track a ball as the ball was way off. The coach told me that if a qb throws your way you better find a way to catch it. I catch every damn since then. So yea me13 could of caught that td. That’s a 50/50 we are used to seeing him make those. But that’s what I think. Djx showed us leadership a couple of weeks ago and I thought that was good

  13. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Lamarcus,

    Funny, D-Jax hasn’t created a system failure with his previous teams. I know you don’t like him (and that’s fine), but you are grasping with your argument.

    You really can’t compare your freshman year in high school to a professional football player. I’m pretty sure you were never covered by Pro Bowl CB’s.

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan,

    I’m with your my man! Tandy has gotten screwed this year. He will go somewhere else next year and we will be able to add him to the list of guys that left Tampa and found success. I am actually shocked his lack of playing time hasn’t been a bigger story.

  15. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

    Finally someone agrees with me and the truth of our success last year and our failure this year can be attributed to Tandy. The truth is truth and real is real. I promise you if he does and they have already proven they aren’t going to play him. But if they do They would win because he has that kinda of impact as he did it last year and through 11 games and him not playing the Bucs have been losers. I’m not naive to believe he could have done it all himself but damn…. Win last year with him…. Lose this year because they won’t play him….. Nothing else has to be said….. It is just that simple and the damn truth. Really don’t want to see him go anywhere else. Just want him to get what he deserves and to watch the Bucs win again. Thank you Hawaiian Buc for your insight. I can tell you know your Football.

  16. Michael Says:

    With no disrespect, and remember when I say that it’s a pass to say whatever. Can djx play defense? Maybe he could have subbed in and covered Julio last week? I mean you’d think Grimes would have ran across and covered Julio instead of covering Matt Ryan. Not saying that was on Grimes. Coach should have recognized coverage was wrong and called timeout. Again, no disrespect but our defense sucks. Smith should be down at field level so he can talk with guys and make adjustments throughout the game. Like covering a guy after he goes over 100 yards. Or 200 yards. Or catches a TD from a receiver. Maybe Smith should just be fired? Maybe all the coaches should be fired? They do keep saying it is their fault.

  17. Rrsrq Says:

    @Tandyman,

    I have been screaming for Tandy all season, don’t know how to hit those archives, but I was just saying how DK said “Tandy is going to be hard to keep off the field”, before the season started. Last year the communication and leadership he brought made the defense better, esp. since Mikey Smith stays up in the booth watching the game like a scout than a coach.

  18. BoJim Says:

    We’re wasting his talent.

  19. GhostofSchiano Says:

    “……. though the Bucs have had a hard time sending accurate throws his way.”

    You would think the genius GM Jason Gump would have looked at that aspect more closely before signing him. That is money the Bucs could have used to lure Campbell or Poe here to help our D-line. FIRELICHT!!!!

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

    You guys are hilarious with the Tandy stuff. He had a string of 6 or so games where he played well over the span of a 6 year NFL career. Clearly, the Bucs do not share your opinion considering that they A) drafted a safety AND B) signed TJ Ward.
    Considering how awful Ward has played and Tandy has been on the bench, should tell you everything you need to know. He’s a special teams player, and that’s OK.
    He’ll get some playing time with Ward out. Hopefully he can re-kindle that “Tandy magic” from last year!

  21. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

    Bucsfanman….If he does (TANDY) get some time this Sunday with Ward out and it happens again (WIN) are you going to be on Board???? Cause ( A.) The drafted Safety and (B.) The signing of Ward has the Bucs at 4 & 7 with the 4 Wins against Teams a good Pop Warner Team could beat. You gotta Get Real and give respct where respect has been earned…. 6 Game stretch or whatever you want to call it…….It Happened and watch it will happen again if given a chance. Come back if it does and apologize for your inaccurate account of your ability to judge talent……DEAL? Its called eating crow.

  22. Bob in Valrico Says:

    Tough to prove you can play if you can’t get on the field,Tandy has a good working Knowledge of where players should be and what play might be called.
    Hope Tandy gets a chance.

    We now know what denver knew Ward can’t cover and he isn’t making a big splash in run support.

  23. Bucsfanman Says:

    Tandyman- I tell you what, if he balls out and is integral in said win, I will become a card-carrying member of the Tandy Fan Club! Fair?

  24. Bob in Valrico Says:

    I really don’t think the Ward has kept Tandy off the field.Tandy and J. Evans
    seemed to be free safeties and the Bucs want Evans on the field for his
    speed and athleticism. Being a rookie he is sometimes in the wrong place,
    he has the speed to stay with Julio on the TD catch but wasn’t in a very good position to make a play on the ball. Then again the experience of Julio and a QB that can throw acurrate deep balls is a tough combo to beat.
    Pretty sure that what Light thought he would have when he brought DJAX here. DJAX
    should have been for OTA’s,but Jameis is going to have to hit him in all phases of the passing game for ours or any offense to be effective. Hope Jameis gets
    the proper coaching in the offseason to improve this aspect of his game.
    Lets face it , big plays win games and we have been beaten by the likes of
    Matty Ice,Drew Breeze,Kirk Cousins, and Case Keenum who have made them.

  25. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

    LOL…. Bucsfanman… Deal🤙🏿

  26. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

    Bob in Valrico. You are exactly right. That is why I have been on here saying Tandy’s presence last year had the Bucs winning and him not playing this year has them losing. Just saying!!!

  27. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Bucsfanman,

    So your argument is if Tandy was that good, the Bucs would realize it and he would be on the field? Read that statement aloud to yourself one more time and see if you can see how hilarious that is. Do I really need to go down the list of guys that were nothing in Tampa that became really good players elsewhere?

    I’m not saying Tandy is the second coming of Ed Reed. However, do you not think he’s better than Conte? Do you not think he has done enough to be given a chance when our other safeties haven’t really played that well (although Evans has made some plays)? He’s not going to have 5 picks every 6 games, but he is a solid player with really good ball skills. We are a team that literally can’t win without creating multiple turnovers, so in my ignorant opinion it makes a helluva lot of sense to put the guy in the actually creates turnovers. But maybe that’s just me. We won’t know until next year, because our coaching staff is so stubborn they won’t give him a shot. And even if they do, they’ll probably put him 1 on 1 with Julio Jones and expect him to shut him down.

  28. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

    Well said Hawaiian Buc!!! Like I said the truth is truth and real is real. Smith and Koetter have turned a blind eye to Tandy and it has cost them their job. Like Dad use to say “If it’s working leave it alone”…. It don’t need fixin!!!! Can’t believe they ignored what he did last season and went 4 & 7 to this point.

  29. Bucsfanman Says:

    Hawaiian- In a nutshell, yes. Consider that he’s been a Buc for 6 years, OK. In that 6 years he shined once, last year, when Conte was injured. The coaches must view him as a liability in some aspect of his game or he would be starting ahead of Conte. Conte is the better safety.
    Now, with that said, I’m not saying Tandy’s a bad player. He has made the most of his opportunities. I would not have signed TJ Ward in hindsight, I would have given Tandy some more playing time based on last year’s performance.
    Don’t get me wrong Hawaiian, I’m not a Tandy “hater”. I’d be even more steadfast in my opinion if not for our current coaching situation. In my mind you field your best 11 ALWAYS.
    Just my humble opinion! I would LOVE for Tandy to just come in and rip! And I will be the very first person to come on and admit I was wrong as well as submit my application to the Tandy Fan Club

  30. Lamarcus Says:

    ” I’m at my wit’s end” with tandy.

  31. Mike Johnson Says:

    Anything below 50 degrees and our Bucs stay competitive. Meaning they only lose by 3 to 10 points. Anything below 40? And we rewrite Custers last stand to a double massacre.

  32. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

    Lamarcus why you hating on Tandy? Ever since he missed that tackle at Buffalo of which he told me he was still hurt and Conte took himself out because he was tired. You been slamming him. How can you hate on him when Smitty and Quirky DIRKY hasn’t let him play. You like being 4 & 7 with All Pro Ward a Rookie and Conte???

  33. Joel Says:

    The new turf used these days is garbage. Players were better off playing on the “green concrete” used before.

    Sooooo many knee injuries on what’s supposed to be a better surface.
