Buccaneers 30, Dolphins 20

How about those streaking Buccaneers!

Winning always feels damn good — even if there is no hope for the playoffs. Or is there hope??

Yes, it’s a Sunday afternoon for the optimists, with the Bucs putting together a rather complete game in South Florida, even with some ugly third-down defense, allowing two big plays and zero running game.

Damn that invisible running game. The Bucs were in position to pound the rock with a big second half lead against a Dolphins team weary from playing on the road Monday night. But the Bucs have no running game with Doug Martin, and Dirk Koetter is afraid to try another running back.

So that put the pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick and damn, the old guy stayed calm and certainly did enough to win, even with his legs. Fitzpatrick finished 22-of-37 for 275 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Joe loved seeing rookie receiver Chris Godwin get a shot to make a big catch late. And he delivered. TWICE!!!

Hat tip to the defense with three interceptions, a forced fumble and a huge forced fumble and recovery by Ryan Smith. And what a massive and athletic pick it was by rookie safety Justin Evans on the Dolphins’ first drive.

Gerald McCoy manned up, even after a nasty eye gouge, to have seven combined tackles, one sack and two QB hits.

Stick with Joe this afternoon for all kinds of postgame coverage of your 4-6 Buccaneers.

Scariest play calling coaches in the NFL on both sides of the ball are all on our team

  2. LakeLand Says:

Miami need to clean house. Their GM is super dumb for bringing in Jay Cutler. And their HC is even dumber for playing him.

  3. unbelievable Says:

    Shouldn’t that say 30? not 23?

  4. unbelievable Says:

    Ah, I see it’s been corrected…

  5. DB55 Says:

If I was Dirk I’d be very afraid. Dolphins committed 18 penalties and 5 turnovers.

Best game I’ve ever seen McCoy play.

  6. Patrick Says:

Fitzpatrick is a quality backup QB. I’m glad we signed him!

  7. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Sorry, but this win did not feel good at all.

Even if I didn’t want us to tank every game for the rest of the season, this game exemplified everything that’s wrong with Dirk Koetter the head coach.

Coaching scared with a lead, playing not to lose, awful predictable play calling, horrible time management, the list goes on.

How in the world do you barely win when your opponent is penalized 17 times and gives you 4 turnovers? Really, how?

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Keep playing Fitz. He’s smart and never gives up. Let Jameis learn from the sidelines and rest his shoulder. What..do we have to lose?

  9. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Excuse me, 5 turnovers.

  10. LakeLand Says:

I hate to say it, but I’m falling in love with the Saints. These young boys are balling

  11. Maxx Says:

Wow, to have confidence in a kicker…whew! Bout damn time.

  12. Letsgobucs Says:

Dirk needs to start being an alpha dog of a coach. What was that crap in the second half…and enough of muscle hamster. Run Barber.

  13. Tackleblockwin Says:

    Dear Roger G,

Can you please change our schedule?

    Week 12 Giants
    Week 13 Jets
    Week 14 Dolphins
    Week 15 Giants
    Week 16 Jets
    Week 17 Dolphins

  14. Defense Rules Says:

Hope? Seriously Joe? Hope? The Dolphins committed 4 turnovers & 17 penalties & were coming off playing Monday night. And oh ya, they lost their starting QB at the half. Oh wait, that helped them not us. My bad.

I will say that Fitz has a much better command of this offense than Jameis has shown through half a season. And that despite the fact that Dirk is still calling the plays AND our OLine still sucks royally. That reminds me, did you see that awesome explosive run by Doug Martin early in the game? Awesome run … until it was called back by yet another OLine penalty. Stop blaming Martin. This OLine would make Adrian Peterson in his prime look like a broken down nag.

  15. LakeLand Says:

Dirk Koetter is 13-13 so far with the Bucs.
    .500

Jon Gruden was 57-55 for the Bucs
    .509

Now we see weapons for Winston was all hype, doesn’t matter what kind of weapons you acquire if the coach is to cowardly use use them properly

  17. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Our young guys showed up at least. OJ was stellar…and Godwin is the real deal.

It’s time to face reality and move Godwin ahead of HUMP. I like HUMP…root for him but he can’t carry Godwin’s jock and one of HUMP’s drops almost cost us the game.

Is there anybody here who believes Hump is a better receiver than Godwin?

  18. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Lakeland

You are counting Chucky’s SB year with that loaded team…2 maybe 3 HOFERS.

How did he do after that season. Oh that’s right 45-51 six games beneath .500.

And there is an eleven win season in that total. Chucky is old news.

  19. HooliganSixx Says:

I’ll take it. 2 wins in a row. Good Job. Go BUCS!

  20. America's Groper Says:

Eating the W’s on this $hi* sandwich is showing that nothing that we have absolutely nothing to look forward to. These last 2 games are horible

  21. LakeLand Says:

    StPete,

    I’m on your side

    Gruden post Super bowl record

    45-51

I want Dirk Koetter to get another 2 years

  22. unbelievable Says:

    @Defense Rules,

There is a narrative to push here, so the o-line will not ever get blamed. After all, they played great today:

    6 tackles in our backfield.

6 QB hits plus a sack.

And 6 drive killing, touchdown denying, offensive penalties.

  23. LakeLand Says:

    I believe in Dirk Koetter

    I was sold last season

How did he get 9 wins last season

All he need is time to develop some chemistry with the players

  24. Lightning Says:

Way to grind out the last 2 wins. Most games come down to winning or losing by 1 score. As long as they are in games and don’t get blown out I am ok – win or lose.

  25. DavidBigBucsfan99 Says:

One eyed Joe calls this a complete game? Which game were you watching? The offense and defense disappeared in the 2nd half almost blowing the game. Oj shoulda had 2 tds and Dougie had a big pass play called back by penalties. Defense became a sieve. Imagine if Moore played the whole game.Once again he puts the poor run game all on Doug but so blind to the o line. Thank you unbelievable for so eloquently stating those facts! JoeFauxNews always has an agenda. Defense did have a lovely goal line stand like effort denying the Phins a 4th&1 but still Moore exposed the problems are still there. Koetter needs to have Oj and Godwin playing together more often. This game should have been a bow out but the o line held it back. Cost us over 100 yards in offensive plays and a td. Nothing to look forward to playing Atlanta

  26. orlbucfan Says:

Where’s tampax? GMC had one h3lluva game today with the help of Kwonster and LVD. I see tpax’s putrid butt on here, and he’s in trouble. What in gawd’s name is with Miami? They almost completely unravelled. I really thought they would win when they tied the score. Mebbe DK is catching up with his offense. Godwin is going to be a star, but Hump still is the man in catching balls over the middle. Whatever, it’s still a win. How sweet that is!! Go Bucs!! 🙂

  27. LakeLand Says:

    I agree with you 100 @ orlbucfan

  28. Matts17 Says:

Another empty win against a bad team. Nothing to see here.

  29. 813bucboi Says:

Glad to see we beat a team that we’re supposed to win against….you suppose to take trash to the curb…. let’s make it happen next week… one game at a time….GO BUCS!!!!
