“I’m Very Sorry To The Fans”

October 29th, 2017

Postgame Jameis

There’s plenty of blame to go around for the Buccaneers’ loss to the Panthers today. But there also was a big apology.

It came from America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

Jameis was very subdued after the game. And it was a very rare sight to see formerly winning head coach in the locker room after the game talking to Jameis for at least a few minutes at his locker. It’s rare to see any Bucs coach in the locker room talking to players — after he’s already addressed the team and opened the locker room to media.

But when that chatter broke up, Jameis headed to his postgame news conference, and there he addressed the Buccaneers faithful.

“I’m very sorry to the fans, definitely for my performance today. I didn’t show up and show out,” Jameis said. “So fans, I apologize. Hopefully y’all stay with us, man. Keep staying with us. We’re going to bounce back. We’re going to bounce back strong. I know y’all disappointed in us, but we got some wins coming your way. You believe it. Hopefully the fans continue to believe in us. Don’t nobody else do.”

It was the first time the Bucs put a brutal product on the field since the Thursday night debacle in early November against the Falcons last year. That clunker was worthy of an apology and so was this one today.

This is rock bottom this season for the Bucs. They responded to last year’s rock bottom. Will they respond next week?

At least there’s a little hope after the defense tightened up a bit today.

  1. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Jameis, I still love you. But do us all a favor and just keep losing. We need a high enough draft pick to get you saquon Barkley.

  2. Joeypoppems Says:

A bounce back at this point would arguably be the worst thing for this team right now. Tehy arent making the playoffs so might as well lock up a high pick.

Right now they are projected the 5th pick. Im personally on #TeamChubb right now but wouldnt be mad at all if they ended up with a guy like Barkley or Guice. Although right now, imo, thats more of a luxury than need

  3. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

As for the Defense today, I still firmly believe that the Panthers offense was just bad enough to make us look good.

Mike Smith needs to go, and we need a massive infusion of talent on that side of the ball.

  4. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @JoeyPoppems

I’ve checked out Bradley Chubb a bit, he is very skilled, has good size, and is fluid and smooth in motion, I don’t think he’s nearly explosive enough to justify a high first round pick.

Barkley on the other hand would add an entirely new dimension to this offense.

  5. Lamarcus Says:

    Blake

Agree. Panthers were worse coming in this one

  6. Season Is Over Says:

Don’t worry, Mr. Magoo. Koetter said it was the wind. You get a pass. America’s Quarterback only shown in local markets will be back next week.

  7. Matt Says:

I done with this team. They same the same thing every for last 12 years I’m over it ✌🏻

  8. Matt Says:

    Say*

  9. adam from ny Says:

jameis you know you need “daddy Gru” right about now…

this “speak softly and catch a dub” stuff ain’t workin’ no mo !

  10. LakeLand Says:

What fans? The Bucs still has fans? Where are they? Where are the Licht Lovers?

  11. Warrenfb12 Says:

WHO cares if they respond man? This season is over. Should be playing for a decent pick at this point. Im not a fan of firiing Koetter and Licht, but these guys are making it hard not to think there shouldn’t be a change.

  12. Kalind Says:

Who cares? Season over. Call me in 8 months

  13. AceofAerospace Says:

Seasons over. Spin it anyway you want to but this season is over. Too many mistakes by too many players and coaches to fix this in time. Time for more yuking it up and grab-assing.

  14. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Blake

They gotta get a pass rusher early. Taking Saquon early in another very deep RB class is, imo, a luxury. We arent at the point where we can draft for luxury, again imo.

  15. Gofortheface30 Says:

Josh Adams is bigger, stronger, faster than Guice, Chubb and Barkley and averaging Damn near 10 yards per carry. Don’t get me wrong I’d be happy with any of them on the Bucs (draft talk in October lol) but how many 70 yard sprints does Adams have to have before he gets talked about

  16. The Anomaly Says:

If JW is hurt then shut him down. He was awful today.

  17. Lamarcus Says:

What happened to arden key from lsu? He was good

  18. Buccaneer scotty Says:

He runs the Web page ^^^

  19. NJBucsFan Says:

This is getting old. Every year it seems we are able to talk draft in October. First yr and Second yr QBs have passed Winston in pregression

  20. Joeypoppems Says:

I credit Adams long runs to the O Line he is running behind. I only seen him in the NC State game last night and that was definitely the story

  21. Not there yet Says:

You should be sorry that game reminded of the Josh Freeman head scratchers where we’re missing wide open receivers high or leading them perfecting into a jawbreaking tackle. All these weapons on offense and Dirk is using them as a decoy just to feature hump all day. Humphries 4 for 26
    Oj Howard 2 for 16
    D Jack 3 for 37
    C Godwin 1 for 8

Most offensive coaches find matchups for their best players but no not this coach. He wants to run his offensive and throw to whoever. Sorry coach and quarterback tandem but hey it’s better than the lovie era which isn’t saying much

  22. CitruscountyBUC Says:

This team will figure this out. Defense played well and the offense is going to bounce back. I’m just as frustrated as everyone else but all the negativity from the people who only want to be fans when things look good and we win. All the Licht and Koetter bashers maybe should have turned that GED into something and become a GM in the league.

  23. denjoe Says:

    Let’s have a GM confidence Poll Joe’s.

  24. Jeffbuc Says:

Stay with me fans I’m sorry I still haven’t completed a deep ball this year. But stick with me and by week 14 I promise I will give you a deep ball td to a wide receiver. But you know I can do it did you see the two deep balls I threw to Howard this year when he was wide open he had to stop running and catch it but he scored. So I know I can do it. Just stick with me and I also will give you a 1st quarter touchdown also. I know it’s hard to watch me throw it right now because you or I don’t know if it will be 3 yards over there heads or out of bounds. But if you stick with me I will have a good day of throwing the ball this year. I can do it I know I can have at least one complete game this year it’s the law of average so stick with me and I will give you a good game this year. And desean will catch at least 1 long td this year so stay tuned.

  25. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

    Guys,
the nonsense of losing games for a high pick – especially for a RB – is nonsense. The best thing for this relatively young team is to learn to play together and win and build further and fill holes for next year. The only real reason to tank is to get a QB. We have one. Winston is hurt right now and they’re not able to develop chemistry during the week with him not practicing. It’s an unfortunate situation.

  26. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

You won’t catch me arguing about the need for a pass rusher. But I am and will always be against over drafting someone based on need.

As far as drafting for “luxury”, it’s my opinion that OJ is being criminally under utilized. Hump was in the game while OJ and Godwin were on the bench FAR too many times today.

We called 1 screen for OJ that worked beautifully and nearly broke for big yardage, and then never went back to it.

Oh and this upcoming running backs class is not nearly as deep as last year IMO. It’s a 3 headed monster of Barkley, Guice and Chubb. With Barkley being the clear cut best. Get Jameis a running game to lean on and set up the Play-Action, as well as helping to win the TOP battle.

Then, if we can replace Dotson in Free agency or via trade, Spend every other pick on the Defense.

  27. Jimmyjack Says:

Get real citrus…..Dirk has coached 31 games now and still don’t get it. If by figure it out you mean they will put together some wins against teams void of talent that are in rebuilding stages then I agree.

But Dirk is here to figure out how to get this team to contend. That’s the only figuring out that I wanna see.

  28. Jeffbuc Says:

if you put in this much work and your still just not that good it’s time to just believe you are a marginal qb. New name joe is “Americas Average Quarterback “

  29. Bucsfan107 Says:

We drafted Winston to high… Just like the kicker..

  30. Jimmyjack Says:

Yeah but Blake how much did we even try to run the ball in the first half to win the TOP. It looked nonexistent to me.

Even if our rush is as bad as you say that doesnt mean your offence has to run deep dropbacks trying to throw the ball 10+ yards downfield all day.

We let the Panthers pin their ears back in pass rush all day. It was a recipe for disaster which is what our pass attack and blocked turned into by the second half

  31. Reverse Joe Says:

[That’s way out of line. — Joe]

  32. Jeffbuc Says:

You are 17-22 as a starter and lead the league in turnovers in that span. So yeah it’s hard to get excited about your lip service. Cause that’s all it is every week same story. I hurt the team I shouldn’t have missed all those throws put it on me. Yeah good luck in I am over you and cringe everytime you throw it or sit in the pocket and fumble it. You try to hard to make a two yard play instead of eating it. Versus working harder on completing 40 yard tds.

  33. Noel Says:

My problem with the Bucs is the culture that exists, I see other teams where the players are going balls out all the time, I don’t see that in the Bucs as an organization. It happens year in and year out, no matter who is leading the team, nothing against Dirk and his crew, it’s just what exists with the organization.

  34. 813bucboi Says:

CAR don’t have a explosive offense… They run the ball and play good defense…. We knew what they were going to do and couldn’t stop them…. They knew what we were going to do and stopped us…. Simple as that….GO BUCS!!!

  35. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Blake

We can agree to disagree on the RB depth. Personally I would take Damoen Harris, Ronald Jones and Bryce Love over guys like Perine, Gallman, Jamaal Williams, and D’onta Foreman. Just my opinion tho.

And I would be shocked if there isnt a pass rusher worth a top 10 pick. Even if it isnt Chubb.

  36. Jimmyjack Says:

Everybody wants to get hung up on YPC but if you have no commitment to keep rushing the ball you are never going to wear down the opposing defence and eventually break a huge hole. There is a reason why the big long runs happen more often in 2nd halves.

  37. kennys Says:

    3 words bring back gruden

  38. Bob in Valrico Says:

No more shots for jameis .Let him rest ,watch, and learn.

  39. kennys Says:

    time to start talking draft

  40. papadoc Says:

Seems as if the name “America’s Quarterback” just doesn’t fit reality. Time for Joe to have a contest whereas the fans can pick a new name more deserving. How about it Joe.

  41. Cobraboy Says:

Exactly who remaining on the Bucs schedule can this team beat?

This season is an unmitigated disaster…

  42. Season Is Over Says:

Don’t worrry, Mr. Magoo. Mike Evans said you played great. No worries. The coach even said he doen’t think the season is slipping away.

  43. LakeLand Says:

DeShaun Watson is the Real Deal, this rookie can play.

  44. Jimmyjack Says:

Just saw the highlight of Rivers getting picked with a chance to tie the game at the end….The patriots beat them in a low scoring game just like when we played them.

Maybe Jamies and Rivers aren’t all that good since they didn’t score much on a suspect Pats D. Or maybe their teams got out coached.

There was one second left on that pick too. Ever notice how Billicheck always seems to have the game clock work in his favour and Dirks has the opposite effect. It ain’t luck people.

  45. StAugBuc Says:

Chargers benefited from the one second left, not NE conspiracy Kook

  46. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @JoeyPoppems

All I’m saying in regards to the upcoming class of edge rushers, the 2 top guys are supposed to be Arden Key and Bradley Chubb, neither of which look like elite level talents to me.

  47. BucEmUp Says:

Im watching a rookie qb play light years better than our third year first round pick.

At this point I think we should let Jameis shoulder heal for a week and see what we have in Ryan Griffin next week in real game action

  48. adam from ny Says:

dudes are getting ready to quit or tank…evans said “we ain’t as good as we thought we were, when we were hot dogging it on hbo”

  49. Janis WinNone Says:

    For me, it’s simple.

    Janis is not accurate.
You don’t learn accuracy; you have it or you don’t. And he doesn’t have accuracy.

It must be very gut wrenching for the defense to see the many 3 and outs when Jamis over throws receivers, or throws behind a receiver, or misses a receiver out right.

Jamis will get 5 years and he will be let go unless Dirk is allowed to do something different.

    Just my thoughts.

  50. Ray Rice Says:

SORRY isn’t going to erase the “L” you SORRY arse!

  51. Rojas Says:

Heard the fans were chanting Gruden at the stadium today.

  52. Wewantgruden Says:

Jameis is way over his head. I hope you guys actually listened to his press conference. Sounded like the preaching idiot that he is. One comment: “ I ain’t fixin to cry”. And how many times does he have to say “gotta get better”. Bench him and put in Fitz NOW. The NFL QB position is much more mental than any other sport in the world….and Jameis is not intelligent at all.

  53. Joeypoppems Says:

The only way Winston gets benched is injury.

  54. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Blake

I havent watched any of Arden Key but I havent heard anything positive about him for the most part. Harold Landry is another guy that I havent watched that has gotten a lot of praise.

  55. Wewantgruden Says:

The Bucs players are also out partying almost every night during the week. Gruden will not put up with that sheot.

  56. JimmyJack Says:

but em up, watson plays for a team that is capable of making the playoffs with bottom tier QB play like the texans have done already. they play with a winning mentality are our play with a losing mentality.

coaching creates that difference and is the reason we were all glad Dilfer left only to watch him win a superBowl elsewhere.

comparing Watson and Winston is useless when Winston play on an unprepared unmotivated team

  57. adam from ny Says:

yeah jameis is starting to seem like not too bright of an individual…he has a lot of positive characteristics, don’t get me wrong…yet if his on field intellect is low, then houston (tpa) we have major problem…

    #HeeKindaStoopid

  58. Mike Johnson Says:

Ruck Up Bucs. Nobody feels sory for you. New Orleans choppin at the bit to get in that A..! So you’d better be ready…lest you be..2-6. Most of us ole school fans are already..comfortably Numb. In looking at the remaining schedule, I see maybeees..4 wins IF…..you play hard. The only question now is..Will be break the top 5 in the draft? And How do you spell Defensive End?

  59. SOEbuc Says:

This really doesn’t look like it’s totally going to turn around this year Jameis and I don’t believe this coaching staff can make it possible. I really hope the Glazers read all these Bucs websites and people posting how much they want Gruden back. Not like they would care but it would put the idea in their head’s especially with John being honored the week before the end of the season.

  60. LakeLand Says:

It’s Lovie Smith fault for this disaster. He only left them with $53 million in cap space and a Top-10 draft pick.

  61. playerunknown Says:

I still love ya Jameis. There’s zero reason for you to be out there after re-injuring your shoulder in Buffalo. I REALLY don’t want Andrew Luck 2.0 happening in Tampa but I think Koetter might have other plans.

  62. Wewantgruden Says:

The best thing for he Bucs would be if Jameis is out of injured reserve.

  63. Lamarcus Says:

    Losing culture overrides talent anyday

  64. Wewantgruden Says:

    Bottom line:
    Jameis Winston Wonderlic score: 27
    Ryan Fitzpatrick Wonderlic score: 48
    Play the smart one.

  65. Reverse Joe Says:

    Wewantgruden

Way to go man! Bring back Gruden!!! Jamies is a loser and please blow this team up!!

  66. NFLNut Says:

^ JW’s wonderlic was higher than Marino and many other HOF QBs … don’t be an idiot

  67. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    ^Gtfo here with that silliness.

  68. NFLNut Says:

    ***************

    Seth Walder
    ESPN Analytics
The most impactful fourth-down mistake in the early games came from the Buccaneers, who punted on fourth-and-2 from the Panthers’ 42-yard line in the second quarter. That decision cost the Bucs 3.1% in win probability.

    ****************

  69. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

That was directed at Wewantgruden not u Nut.

  70. Matts17 Says:

JW is fundamentally flawed. What you see is what you get. He reminds me of Andy Dalton, too inconsistent too win regularly but good enough to still have a job.

This is a bad team with a small smattering of talent here and there. This franchise is closer to the Browns than the Patriots. Where is another win on the schedule? Licht and Koetter are gone after this year and Winston goes on the clock as to how much longer he stays here.

  71. Issic Haggins Says:

I Thought Winston played pretty good besides a couple high throws that these dam coaches seem to not, cant correct !! Winston had no choice but to try and make things happen ,his turnovers were not on first down , nor on 2nd and 2 , the guy is a gamer and played fine besides knowing the outcome if he doesn’t make something happen or take a sack.

I assure you ,he was way better than Cam or Brady under the same Conditions , the difference is Brady’s Coach don’t let that shot happen !!! He doesn’t let that shot Happen and when it does Brandt’s Sucks !!!

People , Winston is a way better QB than Brady per the stats when under pressure , the difference is one coach gets it the other OLine Don’t !!!

  72. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Another thing I would add, is we should boot Bajakian, and steal away whoever Sean Mcveighs Qb Coach is.

Because the sheer amount of growth that Goff has gone through from year 1 to 2 is frankly kind of incredible.

He was looking like a surefire bust last season, now he looks like a solid young QB.

Jameis has gotten better, but still has too many games like he had today.

  73. GhostofSchiano Says:

Apology accepted. I believe in #3. I believe in the Bucs. Go Bucs

  74. Bighck61 Says:

No more America’s Quarterback from now he will known as ( J-MISS )

  75. Jimmyjack Says:

Issic agreed……Bellicheck already came in here had his team get outplayed and still coached us out of a win.

How often do you see well coached teams get blown out badly like we did in Minnesota and Arizona?

How often do well coached teams give up epic chokes like we gave up to Oak and Was?

This team is poorly coached which is why we lose pressure games like today was…….really Dallas last year or New Orleans last year.

Losing games that well coached teams win has happened too many times with Dirk in charge. It’s not gonna change.

  76. Melly Mell Says:

Fire the entire staff including and Licht and Trade Jameis n, Evans, Deshaun, Kwon, and GMC and everybody cause we stink. The Bucs are a disgrace!!!

  77. Doctor Stroud Says:

That’s okay Jameis. 11-5 for the season is a good record, too!

  78. Joeypoppems Says:

Man some of you guys gotta make up your minds. Just last week Jameis was being praised for playing well with a bum shoulder. Then he reinjures it and has a bad game and people are calling for Fitzpatrick and Josh Freeman lmao.

    Yall trippin

  79. Melly Mell Says:

    Joeypoppems,

Eat crow dude!! This team is pure garbage!! if u cant cant see that then gtfoh!!!

  80. LakeLand Says:

Dwight Freeney had 0.5 sacks for Seattle today. What did the Bucs get from Darryl Crapp?

  81. PRBucFan Says:

lol no I don’t believe in you or this team.

When you give me a reason to, I will.

Till then I only believe in what I see and that is probably that you and company are the worst team in the NFL.

  82. dirkdiggler Says:

its ok JW. next year big dog. heal up

  83. LakeLand Says:

This is the BEST football game I have seen in many, many years. Seattle 41-Houston 38

  84. PRBucFan Says:

Your watching football right now after the crap show we put out there? lol

    do you man

  85. Jimmyjack Says:

Come on Lakeland…….Do you really think Freeny had Tampa on his list of teams he would play for?

That dude isn’t going to use up what he has left in his tank to play for a team that consistently chokes and gets blown out.

I can guarantee you he never considered Tampa……not unless we added a zero or two to the contract or if we had proven we were a contending team.

  86. The Anomaly Says:

Winston is a way better QB than Brady per the stats when under pressure…

Seriously, JW was awful today. I am a Buc fan first. I hate when fans put coaches or players above the team.

    team first people.

  87. Jimmyjack Says:

Hahaha PBR…….I’m the same way. I can’t watch much NFL action When my team puts me in football depression.

I can care less what good football teams look like. I already know what that looks like.

I’ll watch the good football teams when our season is over and forgotten and the playoffs start.

  88. NFLNut Says:

    LakeLand,

It’s a great game offensively but both defenses are playing like crap, though Seattle did get the pick-6 off Watson’s dumb throw … your boy Russell Wilson has played good!

  89. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Melly Mell

What crow is there for me to eat? Lol. I said last week that the season was over and they would finish 5-11 and even now that seems optimistic.

Im just saying make up your minds. You either love Winston or ya dont. Cant flip flop based on his most recent performance.

  90. NFLNut Says:

864 passing yards, 8 TDs and 4 picks combined in the Seattle v Texans game … the NFL wishes every game was like that as it’s fun to watch …

  91. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Melly Mell

And how are you gonna tell me to eat crow on something literally 2 minutes after I said it. Thats not how that works lmao. Whatevs tho. Keep overreacting lol

  92. Jimmyjack Says:

Anybody notice how Carolinas D line got better and got more pressure as the game went on? It’s not just a fluke that Winston had more mistakes and missed more throws as the game played out.

  93. Jimmyjack Says:

And it’s no fluke the pressure got heavier and heavier with each dropback. Our offensive line is ok at pass protection but if you give a team like the panthers too many dropbacks they are gonna find a way to get to the QB eventually.

Meanwhile Philly showed a great formula on how to attack them and we apparently forgot what Quiz did to the Panthers last season.

  94. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Joe

Jason la Canfora put out an article about 6 coaches “firmly planted” on the hot seat and our very own Koetter made the list. Its a good read

  95. Jimmyjack Says:

Yeah Joeypoppems……..That’s going to be the argument of the week. We already heard players getting vocal over this coaching staff.

This was the week for our staff to step up and get the team confident. Our defence got pissed and showed up ready to play. Our offensive guru of a coach had his side missing blocks and dropping balls in the first half only to come out getting manhandled in the second.

This could get very ugly this week. I have no idea how Dirk can find a way to salvage this. I doubt there is a page in his precious playbook covering this problem.

  96. passthebuc Says:

all the after game comments by players and coaches were nothing more than sound bites
then I listened to Tkraz and nothing but more sound bites.
The sound bites are part of the culture. you want to change the culture, stop talking like your talking to 5th graders.

  97. Not there yet Says:

There’s way to much negativity about Winston intelligence I hope some of you talking that stupidity have played at college or played quarterback at high School level even. He’s not smart because he throws high? All of us with common sense saw how quickly he picked up this offense as a rookie, you can’t be that stupid. We’re not winning with him but honestly people think this team would be any better without him

Your guys are your guys and the Glazer’s would dump every person on this roster and start over before getting rid of Winston. I personally think Dirk is not equipped to coach this kid and the reason we are where we are is simple

Things feel out of control because koetter is in over his head. When the head coach of the team is buckling under pressure the entire team is doomed. You can see it in all the coaches who are about to get fired every year

  98. Joeypoppems Says:

I said this earlier this week I believe about Mike Smith. Call me crazy, but I dont think anybody will be fired mid season. Black Monday? For sure.

Who would we replace Smith or Koetter with ifthey were to be canned mid season. Im sure the obvious and common answer to that question will be “anybody is better than them”. I dont know if that is true tho.

  99. gotbbucs Says:

If he can’t make it work with this group of recieving weapons then what’s there to look forward to? His lack of grasping the English language is also starting to worry me.

At what point do the excuses move past immaturity and into the realm of maybe this kid just doesn’t have the arm talent to be a legit franchise QB in today’s NFL.

  100. AceofAerospace Says:

I’ve never counted how many comments the Joes get post game, but it sure looks awfully low this week. I’m thinking we’ve about had enough of this year in year out ineptness. (Not you Joes, you’re awesome).

  101. passthebuc Says:

I know joe is in love with JW. But the fact is he is slow. He sets up slow, He reacts slow and his reads are slow. He is not accurate and never has been. Is it correctable, i doubt it.

  102. AlteredEgo Says:

Koetter….don’t think he has missed one pass this year…….can’t learn accuracy …

  103. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @JoeyPoppems

Nick Fangio will be available to be hired next season. I’d bring that man in to be our new DC in a heart beat.

And for HC, were Koetter to be fired, right now the top of my list would probably be Matt Patricia.

  104. Jimmyjack Says:

    Hahaha Joeypoppems.

I had a knee jerk reaction right after the game to call the season a wash and bring in an interim. Only reason was to get a better draft pick, but that’s a ridiculous notion.

Good HCs in this league don’t need top draft choices to field a competitive team. And in reality this team has plenty of talent to win with. We are and underachieving team……..You can’t tell me that any team with 2 or less wins has the same or more talent then we have.

  105. NFLNut Says:

    *****************

What are the five most realistic coaching hires for us if Koetter gets fired at the end of the year???

    Bruce Arians – I LOVE B.A.!

Chucky Gruden – He’s been gone for a loooooong time

Nick Saban – Would he do it? Would he fail as he did in Miami?

Jim Harbaugh – I LOVE Harbaugh and he’s love Jameis & the TWO TE sets!

Leslie Frazier (Bills D Coordinator) – Deserves a HC position!

    Josh McDaniel (Pats O Coordinator) – Hmmmm, I don’t know …

Todd Wash (Jags D Coordinator) – One year wonder?

Norv Turner (retread O Coordinator) – Meh.

    @NFLNut

Matt Patricia not even on your list? What up wit dat?

  107. EA Says:

Offense and defense have one good week and take two weeks off, and the good weeks don’t come together.
Way too many weapons fully healthy to not take advantage of, Jameis still very inconsistent and doesn’t know when to take a sack. Make or break season we all said, jury is still out but with these many weapons not being utilised someone is gonna pay the price, and it’s not gonna be Winston.
Ownership is gonna be forced to make a move, this season is over.

  108. Jimmyjack Says:

I have a question to all the Winston doubters……..Except to anybody calling for Fitzpatrick(don’t worry about why)

Q:How good or bad would you consider Winstons arm or accuracy or decision making when his team gives him the ball with the game on the line?

The reason I ask that is because those are the moments that seperate the elite QBs from the rest of them. It’s up to the rest of the team…..from coaching on down to get an elite QB(if you have one) the ball in his hands with that chance as often as they can…….BTW, we have give Winston one chance like that all year and won on the final play.

And if you don’t have that QB you better find other ways to win football games.

  109. The Anomaly Says:

Dirk will get year 3. No way they fire him.

  110. Q Says:

Those wanting the bucs to lose out are complete dumb asses

  111. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Blake

I meant who would they use as interims if they fire Koetter and Smith mid season? Would anybody on the coaching staff currently really be an upgrade over them?

  112. Jimmyjack Says:

Anomaly……There is no way? What exactly has he proven to make you say that?

  113. MadMax Says:

Well JW3, when you suck it is what it is….be a great backup and help our new QB of the future in a year or two.

  114. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @Q

If not wanting the Bucs to win 7 or 8 games and play themselves right out of a potentially transformative pick is dumb, then I guess that I’m dumb.

  115. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @JoeyPoppems

If the Glazers were to get to the point of firing a coach mid season, which I don’t think they have ever done, then I don’t think it would matter who replaced them.

Either way I say we will be 100 percent better off just tanking the year, in order to have top tier picks for the first 3 rounds of the draft.

Shoot man if we tank hard enough, then at least we would have the option of trading down and getting a butt load of picks. But I would still probably take Barkley.

  116. LakeLand Says:

I was never sold on Jason Licht,Dirk Koetter, Mike Smith after they fired Lovie. I thought they should have went in a different direction.

    LakeLandBuc Says:

Buccaneers, I’m a long time Bucs fan, but I’m not sold on Jason Licht, Dirk Koetter or Mike Smith. I want the Bucs to win, and I hope they win. But I’m entitled to my opinion, just like the next Bucs fan. We all don’t agree, but that’s what makes these blogs so entertaining. If we all agreed on every topic, I wouldn’t be here. Everyone has an opinion and I respect your opinion.

But now I’m a troll, the fact is I was never sold on them.

  117. Melly Mell Says:

    This team sucks donkey poo!!

  118. TonyC Says:

Sorry? Come on this is completely absurd. How did this ever happen. This team has no heart, no desire, and questionable coaching. Man do I miss Doug Williams/John McKay right now. The 79 team had way more chutzpah (with lesser talent) than this collection of sad sacks.

  119. Destinjohnny Says:

    Love 3’s Pride man
He isn’t a bust by any stretch but he isn’t a top 10 qb either

  120. Wesley Says:

    Maybe next year.

  121. ARGH_M8E Says:

    Pathetic

  122. Grt2 Says:

Don’t love them when they do it ,love them when they don’t do it. B!tch a$$ fake fans ….. fire the cannons!!!!!

  123. BushidoEvans Says:

    Fairweather fans…

  124. NFLNut Says:

Blake … Patricia slipped my mind … but NO ONE is ranking the coaching candidates, just whining … come on people, come out with solutions, don’t just b*tch and moan like babies …

  125. NFLNut Says:

MadMax … as always … you’re a loon … there’s 20+ teams that would cut their QB to sign JW … he’ll NEVER be a backup in the NFL … don’t you ever get tired of making a fool of yourself?

  126. PRBucFan Says:

Yes be happy with a complete shlt team why don’t ya!

gtfo here with that fake fan bs.

Why because we don’t want to settle for straight trash on the field?

  127. PRBucFan Says:

And obviously it isn’t about loving them when they do it because unless your new to our Bucs, winning hasn’t been part of this culture for a veeeeeeery long time.

  128. Jimmyjack Says:

Bush……..whose a fair weather fan? Us hardcores are all pissed off right now. Let’s us know so we can kick their azzes. Could use something to take my anger out on.

  129. Jimmyjack Says:

Just watched the Steelers destroy the Lions(another perinnial loser) on a goaline play. They left a Lion injured on the play too.

IMO good teams are able to play goal line football……….Maybe I’m wrong but I’m certain Dirk doesn’t agree. He hasn’t addressed our goalie effeciencies since he’s been here.

  130. PRBucFan Says:

And y’all can defend Winston all you want but IF he continues to play like this and he continues to regress, he will play himself out of TB. That’s not opinion that is fact. I said the same thing about Freeman when he started to do his whole Jekyll/Hyde act and even though the Freemanites swore up and down it would never happened, it did lol.

Not saying it will happen but I am saying that if can happen and no one is untouchable.

  131. Grt2 Says:

Prtroll… I’ve been a Buc fan all my life. What do you expect we haven’t made the playoffs in 10 years. Get the F out of here with your microwave society ideology. The Packers have had 2 QBs in 20 year and have 1 more Super bowl than the Bucs. It takes time to build a winner. So go stand with or you just against us TROLL…. fire the cannons!!!!!!

  132. Grt2 Says:

    Us*

  133. BushidoEvans Says:

@jimmyjack and @PR You have to know that every fan posting on this board is unhappy. Football is a complete game you have to play well in every phase and the Bucs haven’t done that all year. What does whining on a message board do other than frustrated yourself and others? They have to get it fixed, we all know that…thank you for your groundbreaking and informative takes on it. All this calling for peoples heads halfway through the season is so old, hope they play better because they can or stop watching. I’d love to have the patience to go back to last season when they were losing and see all the same people crying about the same stuff vs. When they started putting it together, you heard crickets from those people. Got idiots saying Jameis is a bust and someone calls him Mr. Magoo whatever that means, part of me wants to believe that person isn’t saying what I think they’re saying then I remember how the people of the Tampa area behave when it comes to that type of rhetoric. Bucs fans are mostly made up of immature clowns who don’t know how football works period. When they start playing well with Winston because he sure as hell ain’t going anywhere for a while. Same group of idiots that think the worst D-Line in football would be better off without one of the best DTs in the league, I mean some of it is honestly laughable. Watch all the same people get amnesia and act like they’ve believed all along.

  134. Jimmyjack Says:

Grt2……What in the world are you talking about?

This franchise has been in rebuilding mode ever since Sapp left. When was that exactly….2004? I was on this site before the season listening to fans talk about super bowls. To say the least that was wishful thinking…….but the reason they were so high on this team was the common knowledge that this team was finally beyond a rebuilding stage.

First off, it’s is a freaking disgrace that it even takes that long to rebuild a team. I’m sorry if you think fans should be patiently happy waiting for this decade and a half rebuilding project to finish but the fact is that it’s an embarrassment. Fans have a good right to be upset about this franchise right now. They don’t know how to build a winner or it would be done by now.

  135. Grt2 Says:

Well said Bush … like I say microwave society man

  136. Grt2 Says:

Jimmyquack…There’s only one team that doesn’t rebuild dumb a$$ and it’s the Pats. Just stop watching the Bucs so I may stop read your Troll post and more importantly you’ll be a lot happier. “Don’t love them when they do it, love them when they don’t do it. Fire the cannons!!!!!!!

  137. Grt2 Says:

    Reading*

  138. Jimmyjack Says:

Sorry Bush, I don’t know what to tell you.

If you wanna go back in time don’t do it from last year…..go back to 2000 or 2001 when some fans were calling for Dungys head……..If you don’t believe fans were just ask Joe to if he knows. If he doesn’t I promise you his buddy the Big Dog does………..You think calling for Dirks head is stirring the pot…..That one stirred the pot on a much greater scale.

At the end of the day those calling for Dungys head were proven right. Right now some fans opinions are right and some fans are wrong. Time will tell.

Reguardless neither opinion makes either side any lesser of a fan. So how bout we focus on the debate? Calling out each other’s fan hood doesn’t really add much.

JAMEIS DOESN’T JUST PLAY LIKE BRETT FAVRE, HE PLAYS THROUGH PAIN LIKE BRETT FAVRE TOO!

You nutjobs live week-2-week and make yourselves look like idiots.

No one cares that Favre had some of the worst single games in NFL history, filled with insane throws, crazy fumbles, tons of picks, wild inaccuracy, etc., etc., etc … what people remember is that Favre loved football, loved his teammates, would play through anything, and when he was “on”, was absolutely dominant … all the same things can be said about JW through his first 2.5 years in the league and JW is building a great legacy … and you idiots are missing enjoying it … I feel bad for all of you.

    **************

  140. Jimmyjack Says:

Your wrong great………Good team retool. Bad teams rebuild. At least by my definition.

If you have a different definition then please tell me the difference of how the Steelers or cowboys approach each offseason and how the Browns and Bucs do.

  141. Jimmyjack Says:

Hey Grt2…… You know what’s funny? I’m posting here as a Bucs fan and I’m mad at the team and voicing my displeasure about them. Your posting here as a Bucs fan and your mad at me and voicing your displeasure about me. It’s pretty ironic to me that you consider me the troll.

I think somewhere deep inside you perhaps are more upset about the product of this team then you lead on to be……….I’m no physcriatrist(obviously) but I believe you may be displacing your anger in the wrong places. You may wanna check yourself and make sure what your doing is healthy.

  142. Season Is Over Says:

Sorry, but America’s Quarterback only shown in local markets, Backed into Pro Bowler because three others declined and hasn’t returned, Mr. Magoo, Jameis Winston has clearly and repeatedly missed wide open receivers and regressed seeing the field. This injury is just another mask of Freeman-style mistakes of staring down the receivers and being overly predictable despite plenty of weapons well into year three. Aren’t monikers are fun?

  143. NFLNut Says:

^ Ahhhh, another idiot … how typical.

  144. BushidoEvans Says:

@jimmy Dungy got 5 years and amassed a lot of talent and chemistry before he was let go. Dirk has had a season and a half. So these things are not the same.

  145. NFLNut Says:

^ I like Koetter but with BRUCE ARIANS, JIM HARBAUGH and CHUCKY GRUDEN being realistic options, an upgrade may be called for, no?

  146. PRBucFan Says:

Grt you want a tissue because we all aren’t carrying around Pom-poms and blindly praising everything about the team 24/7? Again your the douche who lives in an unrealistic world. We’ve all been fans of this team forever you want a cookie or something? Nothing worse than the self-righteous diks walking around trying to label fans. You are the troll buddy not anyone else. And your little mantra is horsecrap because we’ve all been with them and they never “do it” not since 2002. If our only goal was to be a fan of a winner we sure as hell wouldn’t be fans of a team who perennially doesn’t even make the playoffs. But put on those rose-colores Homer glasses and get back to your fantasy land cause those of us in the real world don’t have anymore time to waste on your type of troll.

  147. Wewantgruden Says:

@braindead Blake: you speak of Bucs “tanking the rest of their season for a high draft pick”. Well, it’s not tanking if your treat truly sucks. Tanking means you purposely lose in order to get a better pick in the draft. The Bucs will have. 4 win season this year if they give 100% the rest of the season. Gruden needs to get work for the Glazers FAST

  148. Grt2 Says:

PRtroll everything that you’re saying just backs up my point. It’s all about what you want , and you want it now. Just like a spoiled little brat that doesn’t get his candy at the check out line. Be patient and root for your squad through good times and bad . Yea I know it’s going to take a little time to build a perennial winner, we have the key piece to the puzzle(#3 and if you say he isn’t the franchise than you just aren’t a brat you’re an idiot) and we’ll get there the NFL is the most competitive league in sports.

  149. BigHogHaynes Says:

They turning on you Jameis….I knew they would! Didn’t take long at all! 98.8 % of turnarounds take longer than two years! So I’m not advocating that anyone is let go, except (maybe) THE BACK-STABBER, let’s continue to bring in talent! I’M TAKING A KNEE…..TO KEEP AMERICA FREE…..of ass backwards OWNERS! ( Houston we have a problem) I’m sure Coach K will get to stay but he must upgrade that coaching staff!!

  150. Coach Says:

When I see all of these comments. “That’s Tampa for you.”

I’m born and raised here. I’m not some Northeastern transplant like 90% of these clowns on here.

I’m with Jameis. I played football at a high level. You clowns act like this stuff is supposed to be easy. Please leave the Bucs if you’re a half-a$$ fan. Go to the ‘Pats/Steelers with your bandwagon a$$es.

There are still real loyal fans here that believe in this team and our QB. Once things start clicking – half ass fans, shut your a$$es up. We aren’t gonna wanna hear the jibber jabber from your lips flappin’.

  151. RustyRhinos Says:

Jon Grudens record as our coach,
    2002 – 12-4 1st NFC south
    2003 – 7-9 3rd ” ”
    2004 – 5-11 4th ” ”
    2005 – 11-5 1st tied with Carolina
    2006 – 4-12 4th ” ”
    2007 – 9-7 1st ” ”
    2008 – 9-7 3rd
All of the Gruden love sounds great to reminisce on, but look at those records 3 first place in the NFC south 2 3rds and 1 last place finish. Only 2 seasons of double digit wins and 2 seasons of double digit losses. Those numbers do not look so amazing to me. So we not remember how well Coach Gruden was at drafting and grooming young talent. If they are old and no longer in their prime, sign them up, hello Tim Brown meet Charlie Garner. What about the 7 years of mind blowing draft choices. Yes we did lose several high picks to win our Super Bowl, but even after these did we ever get any younger and better on either side of the ball with him as Head Coach? I am forever grateful for Coach Gruden bringing us our Super Bowl. But I also remember watching the losses pile up never getting better with younger players.
Thank you for the Wall down memory lane. But I am not sure we will get better with Gruden as our coach again, he can not make a more accurate QB from the one we have. He didn’t show us he could work with and improve a young QB, hello Mr. Simms, hello Mr. King. Or the veteran QB hello Mr. Greisie, hello Mr. Garcia. His Draft selections where some head scratchers, thanks Mr. Allen.

    GO BUCS!

  152. PRBucFan Says:

All Ive been seeing is a bunch of individual look at me”s stinking it up ! Ive been a fan since 1976 and cant think of a time that ive seen the team ,and i use that word loosely find different ways to lose..Im all for offense but the bucs were always predicated and viewed as a defensive minded team.We are so far from that its scary. Leroy ,Batman,Dewey,Cotney,Reynolds,Sapp,Brooks,Lynch,Barber ,Rice deserve better.Lets just say its safe to say there wont be any roads in Tampa named after this group!
