With a game against the (formerly?) mighty Patriots in three days, there is an immediate focus at One Buc Palace on physical recovery and preparation.
But that wasn’t the case at one guy’s locker last night.
Long after the Bucs beat the Giants, sage JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman, Tampa Bay’s only Hall of Fame voter, was talking to guard J.R. Sweezy about now playing on a short week. And Sweezy fired back loudly and firmly so Joe could hear.
“I’ll play another one right now. Let’s go. It’s football,” Sweezy said.
Joe will attest that Sweezy was dead serious in every possible way.
Before Sweezy recovered from his mysterious 2016 back injury and took a real snap in training camp or preseason this year, Bucs players and coaches talked about how Sweezy would bring a new, nasty and welcome edge to the Bucs.
Joe thinks last night’s locker room comment was a little peek at what they were talking about.
No slight on the other Buccaneers offensive linemen, but Joe didn’t think any of them were eager to go play another football game right after beating the Giants. Understandable, they looked more interested in putting their feet up and finding a cold beer. A cynic might say Sweezy didn’t leave it all on the field if he’s ready to play more, but that would be unfair.
Sweezy is just one of those rare guys who would play the game for fun — as long as he’s allowed to hit somebody.

They won’t report on martin until they have to, Steve and Lee hate being wrong like they were about Manziel, and many many other off the mark observations.

O line been solid,to my eye the most pressure comes when teams are bringing the house. Now if only we would do that to they’re QBs from to time. Oh yea coach K it was fumble. Please throw the red flag next time.

Sweezy and Marpet should be pissed.
They had first and goal inside the one and they did not pound it over and over right up the middle until they scored. I do not second-guess play calling, but Dirk was absolutely wrong there. You have two nasty maulers in the middle of your line and they ran wide, then passed twice, then settled for field-goal.
That was BS
They should have loaded up with extra linemen and stocker and Barber at RB and pounded it!

Not sure what you’re getting at. But Joe had already talked to Sweezy 1-on-1 for a while before this was heard. The players take Joe’s work about as personally as Joe takes all your insults. Not everyone is running around with thin skin and incapable accepting skepticism and criticism. –Joe

Whats BS Joe? That fans/readers call you out as you call out players? We all get things wrong but when you make bold predictions and they have little support or aren’t based in reality you gotta accept it when you are wrong.
