Kwon Wonders If Bucs Are Cursed

October 29th, 2017

Kwon speaks

Most Bucs fans are searching for the nearest toilet to put their head in this evening.

Aside from the Bucs being 2-5 in the NFC South cellar, nothing about this team makes a lot of sense.

Just when you think the defense is going to collapse, on the heels of two brutally bad games and new injuries to their starting cornerbacks, they show up and play a very solid game today.

The offense? It was cruising before today and then proceeded to look like the 2014 edition in the 17-3 loss to the Panthers.

After the game, Joe asked Kwon Alexander whether he thinks the Bucs are close to shaking the demons of their four-game losing streak, or there’s simply  a lot of work to be done.

Kwon says the Bucs are close but there may be supernatural forces at play.

“Yeah, man. It ain’t a lot of work. We just got to do it. Like it’s in our hands, we just have to push past it,” Kwon said. “I don’t know what we got going on, whether it’s a curse or anything. But we just find a way to get a dub.”

Joe sensed a lot of disbelief in the Bucs locker room after the game. “On paper, we’re an amazing team. We’re just not as good as we thought we were,” Mike Evans said.

Amen to that.

As for curses, well, there could be plenty of ghosts haunting the Bucs. It’s been that way through this almost 10-year playoff drought.

Maybe they should win another 6 games this year and miss the playoffs. Solidifying a horrible draft position. That will show the league and fans.

  2. BucTrooper Says:

You’re not cursed. You’re just lazy.

  3. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @Season is Over

You’re absolutely right, rallying to 7-9 or 8-8 is absolutely the worst thing we could do at the current time.

Go 3-13 and get Saquon. And Bradley Chubb in the second round if we get lucky.

  4. Architek Says:

So many failures with this team.

  5. Birdman Says:

From today on I focus less on the league and more on the draft… It’s a Buccaneer thing.

  6. CharlieB Says:

As soon as these kids realize that they’re exactly as good as how they play, and not how good they should be on paper, we may actually have a team. I love Kwon and Mike, but statements like “It ain’t a lot of work” and “On paper, we’re an amazing team” show that these guys don’t understand how much work it takes to be good in the NFL.

  7. DBS Says:

Cruising? Cruising enough to count on the kicker and score in garbage time. Today is another example of what the preseason was showing about Winston and the offense.

  8. Bayers Says:

IF Curses was real I believe it’s quite possible that we can be cursed

  9. Joeypoppems Says:

Maybe we should bring Patrick Murray’s medium back in…

  10. JameisWin55 Says:

We so far away from playoff team like two solid offseasons away from being competitive

  11. adam from ny Says:

    “speak softly and catch a dub”…said kwonie…omg !!!

  12. adam from ny Says:

har-grievances…a demoted dude celebrates every play!…dude need to chill and just play!

  13. Lamarcus Says:

    Adam
At the very least Vh3 celebrating brings some kinda “spunk” to a boring defense

  14. Jimmyjack Says:

Season has a good point. Maybe the Glazers outta hedge their bets and realise this team will never play like winners with this Dirk thinking he’s good enough to OC and HC. Make him step down or hire a garbage interim coach and put Winston on IR.

I’m sure the franchise would draw a lot of interest with a franchise arm, nicely built line, top tier recieving weapons and top tier LBing crew with a top end choice to boot.

  15. Jimmyjack Says:

VHIII proved he could play corner in this league today. Seems convenient we happen to have two injuries forcing him into action at CB. Might be a bit of proof that Smith was wrong putting him at slot.

  16. LakeLand Says:

They are curse with an inferior roster, inferior coaching, inferior GM, inferior owners. They are not an NFL caliber team. What they do have is excuses, excuses, excuses, year after year.

  17. LakeLand Says:

And to think that I picked this team to go 7-9, I’m kicking myself.

  18. 813bucboi Says:

    Adam

At least VHG came to play…

When players start talking like this, they don’t believe in what their being coached…. This team should be better… Simple as that!!…GO BUCS!!!

  19. 813bucboi Says:

    Jimmyjack

No… Smitty was wrong for forcing him to play off!!! When he played in the slot he was up at the LOS… Today he was up at the LOS…. He proved he’s an man press cb…GO BUCS!!!

  20. mattj1621 Says:

@Blake. The absolute worst thing the Bucs could do is go 3 -13. With a lot of upcoming free agents on our team, I’m sure other teams will offer them a lot of money and they would not mind leaving after that kinda record. This is not a team that can tank for draft position, that’s how u crush the morale of a diminishing fanbase and a young football team.

  21. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

You guys talking about tanking are mistaking this for the NBA. If the Bucs go 3-13 or 2-14 this year – it would be catastrophic. There is no pick the Bucs will make that will rectify next season. The only chance the team has is to build chemistry and figurew things out over the rest of the season.

  22. Not there yet Says:

This is a new low even got Tampa. It’s one thing for the media to talk about curses ass an excuse for losing but the players? Translation we want to win but this coach can’t get us where we need to go

  23. Swanee Says:

Blake Bucsfan – you are absolutely right. At this point do not do anything more to jeopardize the draft of 2018. The team is playing for nothing meaningful other than a win, which would be forgotten in a month. We need to finish as the bottom 3 team to secure that draft pick we desperately need. Chubb would be an outstanding pick . Grab Saqoun if he is still available . A pass rusher in the second round that can make immediate impact.

  24. rrsrq Says:

this team started 0-26, got it going, let Doug Williams walk and it began again, then you draft Bo Jackson, you know how that went, drafted Vinnie T, found out he was colorblind. In the mean time Steve Young and Doug Williams go on to wing SBs, tick, tick, tick, along comes a real team, Dungy-Gruden era, should’ve won three, but got one. We bring Doug back in the front office, let him go again and whattayouknow, we can’t win again. I’m not saying it’s Doug or a curse, but there is something amiss in pirate city.

  25. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

I am also now focusing on the draft, but so many holes I don’t really know where they should start. We need to upgrade at DE, CB, LT just to start. Not enough draft picks to fill all of these holes.

  26. ATLBucsfan Says:

The thing is they are not a team. They are only a collection of individuals, some highly talented, that are on the same field together. And they are satisfied (does not equal happy) with losing. Until they are sick and tired of losing and decide to kick every opponents butt each and every week will they start playing consistently and win consistently.

  27. Cobraboy Says:

    Losing is one thing.

Losing with slop and without passion is another.

This team is a miserable collection of “me me me’s”…

  28. Broy34WantsGruden Says:

Buc trooper one of the most blinded truly ignorant posts ever. Now Kwon is lazy? You have any logical reasoning or observation behind that mentally challenged remark

  29. Pelbuc Says:

Their will was broken weeks ago. AtlBucs is spot on. This “team” is a collection of lazy and pride less individuals that are best at making excuses. GM Licht should be fired tonight for collecting this sorry ass group. Hope the Glazers get a head start on a GM to help find a new coach. Winston will NEVER be the answer.

  30. Chrisco4Bucs Says:

The “Curse” will be lifted when Jon Gruden is once again patrolling the sidelines

  31. Mike Johnson Says:

Yes Kwon you all are cursed. Cursed with your immaculate Dirk Koetter and DC Smith. Keep losing and the curse will be magically lifted with new coaching blood.

  32. Charlie Day Says:

I wonder if Chris Baker is reconsidering who the saddest fan base is now?

  33. JimmyJack Says:

Agreed Mike…..Kwon is say in cursed because he knows the players around him have talent. Lots of folks around the league know it. We were not a hot pre-season pick for no good reason.

All talent does is give you a chance. The mental part of this game is what makes the difference……..This team looks mentality unprepared each and every week. The coach is not figuring it out. We come into a pivotal game and his players are dropping 1st down missing blocks and committing pentalties. Well coached teams don’t beat themselvea. teams with losing mentalities do

  34. Wewantgruden Says:

    Bottom line:
    Jameis Winston Wonderlic score: 27
    Ryan Fitzpatrick Wonderlic score: 48
    Play the smart one.

  35. Defense Rules Says:

Someone mentioned that VHIII looked good out there today. I agree. Maybe it was an optical illusion, but it looked like Smitty moved him to Grimes’ side & let Ryan Smith play where VHIII was playing. Got me wondering if maybe VHIII was just on the wrong side all along. He did look like he played better coverage today, although his tackling still doesn’t impress me very much. And Evans used really poor coverage technique on the Panthers’ second TD.

  36. Issic Haggins Says:

    Jimmy jack,

Slow your roll , Carolinas Rec core may be as bad as our DB’s and Cam just isn’t very good right now, his deep balls are worse than Winstons and he is way worse under pressure , he just knew he didn’t have to win the game and Winston knew he had to !!!

VH 3 was back in college today ( talent wise) but against the even semi elite he is out classed , believe me I hope he gets some confidence because he does have some ball skills !!!

  37. Destinjohnny Says:

Draft pass rushers and the curse will end

  38. PRBucFan Says:

The Bucs have been cursed sense the Super Bowl win.

Malcolm made a deal with the Devil for the Lombardi

  39. bucs_365 Says:

“On paper, we’re an amazing team. We’re just not as good as we thought we were.”

…which is why I thought Hard Knocks was a bad idea and why Koetter should’ve ridden their asses harder.

  40. SteelStudBuc Says:

First off Kwon, McCoy, Evans… Maybe if you tucked your shirts in and at least looked ready to play like a professional you might be more confident. Kwon didn’t tuck his shirt in till halftime!!!!
    Lead by example captains.

  41. grammaticascoins Says:

the paper is as thin as the pass rush and secondary when players take real accountability for there poor play then this team can move on. I question there motivation

  42. FortMyersDave Says:

Problem with tanking is that other bad clubs are going to be doing the same thing the Bucs could such as the Fins and Jets. Lets be honest true Tampa fans, the Bucs do not need to tank to lose, just maintain the staus quo. Right now if the Bucs beat the Jets and Fins that would be 4 wins, barring an upset of someone that would get Koetter to 4-12 and likely get him fired possibly along with Licht. Lovie had to tank to change what should have been a 4-12 to 2-14 and get JW. Is doing the same thing this year to move up from 5 or 6 to 3 really worth it (forget catching Cleveland they are set on 0-16 and the Niners might get a donut as well unless they play Cleveland, Miami or Tampa)?
