Another Ex-Bucs Player Frowns On Coaching

October 30th, 2017

Not impressed.

You know it’s bad when ex-Bucs begin having their voices heard.

On Friday, Joe brought word of how former Bucs great Warren Sapp, one of three Buccaneers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, unloaded on defensive coaches for what he believes are ill-prepared if not wrong-minded defensive gameplans.

Now his former teammate Booger McFarland chimes in.

Booger, who works for ESPN and SiriusXM NFL Radio, had a Twitter discussion going last night about who the Univeristy of Florida should hire to replaced jettisoned head coach Jim McElwain, who was shown the door yesterday while the Bucs offense threw up all over the field.

Then Booger dropped this gem.

@ESPNBooger: A good coach is a good coach regardless of what side of the ball he specializes in. How’s that offensive guy working for the Bucs in Tampa?

Ouch.

As much as Joe likes and admires and respects Dirk Koetter, that half-arsed effort his offense turned in yesterday is all on him. He’s the head coach. He’s the offensive coordinator (in reality). He’s the playcaller. For that offense, loaded with weapons up and down the line, to only put up three points against the Stinking Panthers is unforgivable.

It’s beyond Joe how that same offense could go on the road into a hostile atmosphere like Buffalo and hang 27 points on one of the best defenses in the NFL, and then a week later shat all over the field of the Den of Depression is beyond Joe.

Damn, this team is so schizophrenic.

Very True……maybe dirk is just a good offensive coordinator like how Norv Turner was in his prime?????

  2. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

yep, we all knew this. Koetter is in over his head but he can starting fixing it right now by turning over play calling duties to someone else. He’s got a great out right now by benching Jameis to get his shoulder right. That’s a free extra year pass for most coaches. I don’t want JW getting hurt more for this coach, it’s not worth it.

Buccaneers, I’m a long time Bucs fan, but I’m not sold on Jason Licht, Dirk Koetter or Mike Smith. I want the Bucs to win, and I hope they win. But I’m entitled to my opinion, just like the next Bucs fan. We all don’t agree, but that’s what makes these blogs so entertaining. If we all agreed on every topic, I wouldn’t be here. Everyone has an opinion and I respect your opinion.

  4. Bird Says:

    Dang koetter.

He made Jameis turn the ball over 3 times too.

Keep telling yourself that joes. It’s All coaching. Every bit.

It’s Funny bucsnation website title read “Jameis threw the game away “. Your right though.

  5. Bird Says:

  6. Bird Says:

Pewter report has Jameis as most disappointing player but again you are right. It’s all coaching

  7. D-Rome Says:

He’s got a great out right now by benching Jameis to get his shoulder right. That’s a free extra year pass for most coaches.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Lovie Smith did not get a pass for going 2-14 when he lost his offensive coordinator prior to the season starting. Sure, he coached the following season but 2-14 was held against him.

  8. Kyle Says:

Bring back Jon Gruden, break the curse…

  9. Bucsfanman Says:

@Bird- I feel ya. Jameis didn’t do us any favors but, the play-calling has been atrocious ALL year. We are way too pass-happy with no balance. If Jameis throws more than 35 times in a game, we are toast!

  10. Wausa Says:

I think it is fairly obvious the Bucs need to move away from the Lovie Smith hire(Dirk Koeter was hired by Lovie).

If Gruden is willing to be the Coach he needs to be hired but Coach Gruden should have no say on whom the Bucs draft or sign as free agents.

  11. Phil Says:

I’m surprised Koetter still has a job this morning. What a terrible effort by a team loaded with talent.

  12. brooks55hof Says:

I can no longer get excited to watch the BUCS. We know what the outcome will be, it’s just a matter of how they will L. This team has so many needs and it will take 2-3 more drafts to plug the holes. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 15 years and I am not going to finance yet another rebuilding project. All we ask as fans is a glimmer of hope, some year over year improvement. It’s just a magic show every year, all sizzle and no steak. I will always be a BUCS fan however it will be on TV instead of at the Den of Depression.

  13. 813bucboi Says:

    ^^^@DROME^^^

    I AGREE…

and lovie didn’t get a free pass when the leader of his defense didn’t play the last 4 games of the year….

the fact that people somehow don’t think its coaching is beyond me….

this is the 4th week in a row the team as a whole didn’t show up….4th game in a row where only 1 side of the balled played well enough for us to win….THATS COACHING!!!…that’s preparation….

we finally saw the cbs playing a lot better and that’s because they played at the LOS….VHG and ryan smith are man press cbs….everything in their college film suggest so….but what do our coaches do, force them to play a certain way in a scheme their not comfortable with….THATS COACHING!!!!….

when you have players (LVD) saying they could’ve done more but they had to play within the system, or players(ward&baker) saying they should be on the field more or former players(superbowl champions) calling out the defensive and offensive staff, that’s all points to COACHING!!!!….

its time for smitty and dirk to grab their tackle box and beer and meet lovie and schiano at the pier!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  14. Not there yet Says:

It’s really simple. This coaches and gm are putting loyalty over winning and they are for some reason afraid to shake things up or make them realize that this is a business. To many guy taking up roster spots they haven’t earned and aren’t putting in the work because they know the paycheck is coming regardless win or lose. This is a weak-minded coaching staff and gm and the players are taking advantage. Even after getting embarrassed there would come out and play with fire. Dirk had lost this teams ear and it’s not hard to do, we have a lot of players more interested in the night life than winning. The ghost of Freeman still haunting this team lol

  15. Gencoimports Says:

Dirk’s offensive scheme is two deminsional. The offense is built too much for the run setting up the pass and not enough pass to set up the run. You have to be able to adapt to the strength and weaknesses of each opponent and we are not seeing any of that.

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

Lookahere Buc fans..When it rains in Fl, It Pours! Win and you’re the darling of all dances. Lose/ And you can start packing bags like Koetter and Smith. Its really that simple. I never thought Koetter and Smith should have been hired after Lovie’s firing. There were lots better selections out there. And Arthur Blanks in Atlanta let them go for a reason. Grab a big piece of Lumber Buc Fans..we got lots more losses comin this season.
    ALL ABOARD…..The coaching change express!

  17. tmaxcon Says:

who cares what a bunch of has been underachieving ex buc players have to think. they never figured out how to win consistently they are hardly an authority on anything but losing and ONE and DONE in the playoffs.

and for those morons saying Gruden Dungy I am sure you are joking. Dungy’s defense has not stopped anyone in over a decade and his career losing playoff record is not what the bucs need they need a winner not another nice guy hypocrite loser. And Gruden is not coming back period. just not going to happen, especially to a franchise that is so poorly ran. winning starts at the top. Top to Bottom Bucs organization is owned and operated by incompetent fools. at some point the blind optimists need to get checked for flat out insanity.

This is organization is beyond cursed. They simply don’t know how to win and have no desire to do the right things to win. Whether it’s ignorance or a part of the glazer money grab plan they simply are the worst owners of sports franchises on TWO continents.

  18. AlteredEgo Says:

Booger…are you saying the coaches are teaching the D not to tackle and the QB to miss ..here there and everywhere…?

  19. Bobby M. Says:

Here’s what is annoying…..if Jameis could connect on 1/3 rd of the deep balls to WIDE OPEN WRs down the sideline….The play calling looks brilliant and score looks much better……The run game would open up as the safeties/corners would respect us deep. First he was overthrowing/underthrowing Jackson….Now they try to work in Evans….cant hit him. Its not the playcalling because the guys are wide open….Its not the receivers….again they are beating their defenders…..Its Winston. Face the facts.

Any NFL scout will tell you….YOU CANT FIX ACCURACY AT THIS LEVEL. Jameis is really smart, dedicated, personable, etc….He works his rear off which is all you ask for a young QB to do…..BUT….he’s highly inconsistent and inaccurate in his ball placement. Licht tries to mask it with big body targets or guys that get separation…..Dominik did the same with Freeman. Koetter tries to set things up for Winston…..Winston knows where the play is…..he just cant execute it play after play….week after week. Can you win with Winston….yes. But not with this roster. Give him a stout defense and solid run game, Winston will get you wins. However, load the offense and put the burden on Winston, he’s going to be exactly what you see. Basically….and it will sound like a classic Bucs fan hanging on to the glory days…..But give him Gruden with a dominant defense and we’ll compete every year for division championships. Winston is waaaay better then any QB Gruden had….if he can capitalize on those guys strengths, he’ll execute with Winston easily.

  20. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Here’s my take on our offense: We are putting too much on Winston. The offense is based too much on throwing the ball down the field. The more you throw down the field, the higher the likelihood of errors. We have no running game, so if a defense is able to get pressure, Jameis doesn’t have time to let these long developing routes develop. This means trying to throw guys open, which results in turnovers. He needs more easy throws to allow himself to get into a rhythm. Where are the short throws over the middle to the RB? That will open up the down the field throws.

I am not a fan of getting rid of Koetter. However, he needs to make adjustments to his offense, because what we are doing now is not working. If he fails to change anything and just keeps on doing the same thing, we are going to have the same results. If that’s the case, I would rather just move on. Hopefully that doesn’t happen, because it would be really nice to have some stability.

  21. BeeBucs Says:

Keep firing coaches every two seasons is going to get us back on track!!! Yeah Fire Koetter. 50/50 ass bucs fans.

By the way, who is directly responsible for coaching up Jameis? Who was hired specifically to develop Jameis? Hint: It isn’t Mark Duffner.

I disagree….this team is not that far off talent wise….its the coaching that’s holding this team back….

we should trade GMC, doug and djax for picks….don’t matter if its a 5th 6th and a 7th….get them and their salaries outta so we can get some FA help….GO BUCS!!!!

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Koetter needs to delegate playcalling….and I absolutely agree that Jameis’ inaccuracy is THE problem…when have you seen a covered receiver catch a deep ball for a TD?

  30. AlteredEgo Says:

“By the way, who is directly responsible for coaching up Jameis? “….Jamiss….knows football…Aimless Jameis….has always had accuracy problems…that simply can not be corrected….hand -eye-mind coordination …he ain’t got “IT”….life is short and not fair….time to hedge front office bets and draft a QB with the 2018 1st pick….and let it sort itself out….trade the QB that comes up short when Jameis’s rookie contract is up

  31. Bucsfanman Says:

tmax- Isn’t “blind optimistic insanity” what being a Buc fan is all about?! Blind optimism is all we have.
I agree with you on ownership. It starts at the top.
Firing Koetter is not the answer, but somebody else needs to take over the play-calling.
Gaither High School called. They want their playbook back!

  32. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Jameis is hurt he needs to sit down….that throw to evans, although jameis has his issues with the deep ball is a throw that friggin felipe franks was making the other day

  33. The Buc Realist Says:

  35. AlteredEgo Says:

#99 willed that SB Ring on his finger….Booger and Dungy rode on Manning’s coat tails…

  36. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

your right life of a buc fan is getting excited and get nut punched by week 8 then start on draft talk. none of it matters until ownership changes or starts holding players especially their underachieving star players like cancer93 accountable for piss poor play. Although he did his job yesterday he was NOT great or special he did his damn job.

until the organization raises standards and holds these crybaby players accountable nothing will change. McNair comments were appropriate if he was to direct them towards the bucs organization, the glazers have been letting the inmates run the asylum for over a decade and look at the results. people need to raise the standards.

so the cycle begins the glazer clowns listen to the crybaby captain loser and clean out the staff and start over again so now we waste winston, beckwith, kwon, godwin and some other bright spots. the losing culture and it’s leader must be eradicated once and for all and that simply will not happen with soft ownership and no locker room leaders. at least i’ll be able to go skiing on sundays now that the football season was officially over last week during quarter 2 that is when the team quit… yesterday was just a byproduct of team quitting last week

  37. Bird Says:

    Joe.

Look at your last few articles. You specifically put blame all on coaching. (Twist it how you want in your response)

You give us 100 articles on Jameis being americas qb and one article on he didn’t play the best And we he has that great game here and there you curse the naysayers. And you have responded in the past it’s your website and you will write about who you want (forget the rest of the team that people like as well )

Jameis is a just as much part of the problem. Great kid and yes you point out his great stats but We want wins. The defense has been hot garbage but showed up in a close game and the offense crapped the bed #1 overall pick that is so inconsistent.

  38. tmaxcon Says:

    813bucboi

they unquestionably underachieved they won 2 playoff games in 6 years sir. that is UNDERACHIEVING when you have 2 hall of famers and number 1 defense.

how many rings does brady have or rapiestburger ??? bucs underachieved 100% under the ignorant one dimensional dungy. Great defense on a bad team coached by a conservative fool with a career losing playoff record. hall of fame lost all credibility when they enshrined a coach with a losing playoff record. hall used to be for the best of the best but now it’s just feel good stories and favorites. a coach who choked when it matters most (playoffs) has no business in the hall of fame with real winners.

Yep. It’s really baffling. This year is f*cked.

Sadly next week I’m going to the game – and it’ll be the first Bucs game my wife & I have gone to since I met her and got her into this stupid team. I never would have thought we’d be 2-5 at this point.

Oh well – New Orleans is an awesome place regardless lol.

I don’t get this sh1t man. Joe’s comment sums it up perfectly. For 6 weeks this team was a top 10 scoring offense; and just came off a game putting 27 against a top 2-5 type defense this year; and can’t put up more than 3 at home when given even more opportunities and help for once by the defense? Wtf world is this?

  40. volbuc1 Says:

Firing the coach isn’t always the right thing even though it’s the popular thing. Just because your not winning doesn’t mean it’s always the coaches fault, Although it is the coach who has to correct it. So BUGGER just needs to relax and start calling out players that don’t tackle or who just stand around and watch other people tackle (McCoy). I mean Doug Martin cant break tackles, Winston over throws wide open receivers, Evans drops passes ever game, field goal kickers miss, etc.. These guys are paid Millions of dollars to execute plays and they fail time after time then former players start putting the blame on the coach??? really??? does kirk really need to go help Winston throw to a wide open receiver? and teach Evans to catch passes?? Give me a break no wonder Tampa hasn’t been to playoffs since Bush was in his first term.. I think they should be able to fire players in the middle of the season just like coaches.

  41. Joe Says:

Look at your last few articles. You specifically put blame all on coaching.

Yup. Because it is. Joe calls it as he sees it. Joe isn’t about to lie just to make folks feel good.

Joe’s a *big* coaches guy. That’s both good and bad.

  42. Tampa Bay Tailgater Says:

lol looks like the Tampa2 mafia is out from under their rock and finally taking shots like they have wanted to since you know who was fired!!!!!!!!!

we’ve been here 4games in a row!!!!….dirk and smitty are failing….the sheep are beginning to multiple….their getting louder and louder….one thing we know, the glazers are not scared to pull the trigger no matter if its year 2 or year 6…..

dirk and smitty are on a blazing hot seat!!!!…this team has come out unprepared multiple times…flat multiple times…blown out multiple times….

I guess we have to get “shut out” for you to see its time for dirk and smitty to go….GO BUCS!!!

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Booger is a defensive guy, so of course he’ll have differing opinions.

Dirk is a fine coach. Licht is the best GM we’ve had in a long while.

Fans want everything now, and they are upset over the loss. But denying that these two have made this team better is stupid. It’s coming together.

I thought it would either be us or the Saints this year, and it turns out it is the Saints. That’s the way the cookie crumbles. I’m not about to freak out like most Tampa Fans and scream for the heads of the coaches or GM.

In fact, I will say this…if the Glazers fire Koetter this year, I am done. The coaching changes are coming far too often for anything to reach the level we want, and these fans who want another change are incapable of seeing that apparently.

  48. doolnutts Says:

This is starting to sound more and more like the old Schiano order lolol… Old bucs calling out coaches, DL complaining about stunting to much, failure to get pass rush, erratic qb play, can’t play defense to save our lives lolol…

It is a real shame because I actually like Koetter and want to see him succeed….

  49. The Buc Realist Says:

Buc Bonzai is correct!!!! In fact the Owners need to step and give full support as well as it will settle down the players so that the “inmates” will know that this is the way it is!!!!!! We know that the schemes work and that we have seen flashes on both sides of the ball!!!!! Now we just need to fix the roster and some of the players just need to “mature”!!!!!!! Some of the stop gap veterans that were brought in need to start seeing less playing time!!!!! It is time to see who wants to be here and build a “winning” culture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next year we will not see the distractions from the need to “expand the brand” everything needs to be question as “does it help this organization on the field”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  50. Bobby M. Says:

Here’s why you might see a coaching change….its business and the Glaziers will want to see something that inspires confidence in giving winston $20 million per yr. another season of inconsistent production, missed playoffs, multiple wasted free agent signings….don’t inspire confidence. The clock is ticking on his rookie deal before they have a Kirk Cousins situation.

  51. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

@D-Rome that’s a close comparison but a franchise QB overules a DC anyday IMO, but regardless If I was Koetter I shut JW down!

@Buccaneer Bonzai You’re ok with empty sets that get JW pressured and sacked consistently? You’re ok with running a pitch out on 1 and goal then losing by 4 points? You’re ok with running it twice on the opp. 40 yard line to go 3 and out twice when down by only a touch down? You’re ok with not figuring out how to get 11 the ball and turning one of the most dynamic players in the NFL into a possession receiver? You’re ok with unmotivated players?

Good coaches motivate players to perform. Gruden was a hard ass, Dungy gave out goals to his leaders. Koetter throws his guys under the bus then tries to be best friends with them. Licht is pure garbage.

  52. Bucsfanman Says:

Bonzai- I’m going to stick with my blind optimistic insanity and keep rooting for my team. What I would like to see is Koetter relinquish play-calling duties. There is no reason for this offense to be playing this way. The Eagles figured it out with 2 FA WRs, a new RB, and a 2nd year QB.

  53. Joe Says:

This is starting to sound more and more like the old Schiano order lolol… Old bucs calling out coaches, DL complaining about stunting to much, failure to get pass rush, erratic qb play, can’t play defense to save our lives lolol…

    Yup.

  54. tmaxcon Says:

    The Buc Realist

it’s always next year sir. you are a smart man so there is NO WAY in HELL you believe the glazers will finally do or are even capable of doing the right thing.

  55. Bird Says:

    The bucs realist –

That is hilarious on Joe’s vision!

  56. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Tandy a stud last season and don’t even see the field yesterday!!!! Hasn’t played in 5 games , 2 to injury and 3 at Coaches discretion…… 5 losses. Damn that says something to me. Think I would keep playing Me Ward who had 2 tackles yesterday and Rookie Evans who got manhandled on his defense of Carolinas Touchdown. Smith and Kotter should have more respect for the 6 year Pro than to do him that way!!! They both in my book need to go. Bring Chucky back and let the Bucs start winning again….To much talent on this team to be getting their asses handed to them every Sunday. Look out for them Jets Dirk the Quirk and Mikey I’m gonna play Ward cause he’s mad Smith. Good luck you clowns and good luck finding jobs after this fiasco of a season ends!!!!

  57. Tampa Bay Tailgater Says:

I don’t think it’s black and white as far as the blame goes, but what I saw yesterday was a team NOT prepared to play a football game, at home against the first division team of the season.

VHIII waving his “no no” trigger finger after an overthrown ball…
Gholston doing his king kong impression after making a tackle 10 yds up the field….
Special Teams celebrating after making a hit at the 45yrd line…
Miko’s tweet saying BG only plays for the $$ and NOT the fans…(very telling)
GMAC’s post presser…WEAK MINDED and DEPRESSING.

There is no unity. Do you see the Patriots doing this?

That’s leadership both from the Coaches and Players and we don’t have that on either side.

  58. tmaxcon Says:

    derrickbrooksforGM

stop living in the past.. the past was not great only 1 year really. how many arena league championships has brooks WON… He is no nfl gm. he is another nice guy that is good in the community nothing more. bucs need PROVEN NFL MEN with WINNING backgrounds not another local feel good story that will disappoint and set team back for years. see the lovie smith pr stunt by the glazers if you need proof. being a good nfl linebacker does not make one a great executive or talent evaluator. for every successful ex player like john elway there are 100 that fail miserably. living in the past never works out

  59. denjoe Says:

We need a GM that knows how to build a team!

  60. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The last few years of coaching changes caused me to stop going to games. I use to pay to take kids clubs to multiple games every year, but I stopped because of the coaching instability. I take the kids to Lightning games and Rays games instead…even though I HATE baseball.

I can support the team through losing. In fact, I have been pretty steadfast throughout all the losing…because I know the team is moving in the right direction to become a lasting contender. I was even considering bringing kids again. I have also supported the owners through it all.

But not if we go through yet another coaching change this soon. Koetter should have at least two more years, and though I was big time against Jason Licht his first couple years here, I have seen him improve at his job.

Yes, Jason Licht has made some bonehead moves, especially in free agency and the second round of the draft, but he’s been a pretty good GM, much better than Dominick and McKay (who also could not draft worth spit and allowed our cap to get out of control).

So yeah, people think he had a bad draft…but did he really???

    This past draft he got:

    2017
    OJ Howard (obviously good)
Justin Evans (who I thought would not do anything but who is getting much better)
Chris Godwin (who is obviously good)
Kendell Beckwith (who is obviously good)

That is still pretty freaking good. Where is this bad draft you people point to???

    Is it 2016? Nope.

    He got:

Vernon Hargreaves (who is steadily improving; just not fast enough for fans)
Noah Spence (who was set to take a leap forward but got injured)
Ryan Smith (who looked pretty freaking good yesterday, and is slowly getting better)

Tampa fans are blind. They let their emotions cloud their judgement.

In 2015 we got a bunch of great players. So tell me…where is this supposed bad draft???? It doesn’t exist.

If you can hold anything against Licht, it is free agency, but really, can you?

He is limited by the market availability. We might look at some of the names and say he should have gotten certain players, but contrary to popular belief, money isn’t always enough. Players like Free Agency because they get to choose the team they go to.

So players we perceive as available may not actually be available.

  61. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Incidentally, 5 of those 7 good picks are defensive players. He has not been ignoring the defense. He just can’t plug all the holes in the draft instantlym like fans want.

  62. 813bucboi Says:

    Tmax

underachieving would be not winning a ring…..they are SB champions….and brady and big ben didn’t get drafted by some of the worst franchises in history….they got drafted by 2 very well run franchises….sounds like you would consider aaron Rodgers peyton manning and drew brees as underachievers as well….GTFOH!!!….GO BUCS!!!

  63. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @Tampa Bay Tailgater

It’s not fair to compare any team to the Patriots. You think they became what they are overnight?

  64. buc15 Says:

He is 100% right. Way way way too many weapons to be this bad.

  65. Smokeymountainbucfan Says:

If your done with the Bucs if they change coaches then so be it. Why should anyone be obligated to hang on to a coach/Gm? If they suck, then they suck!

  66. Tampa Bay Tailgater Says:

Bonzai…you should be comparing yourself to the best. I’m not saying skillset wise, but just the approach you have to take to the field. You are not seeing guys on a mission, you are seeing kids not taking this job seriously and that’s part of the problem.

What i mentioned was just last game and what I saw! It’s out of control! I saw Donnovan Smith posing in a snapchat video, inside the locker room showing off his mike tyson jacket just 2hrs away from a pivotal game in which he was garbage in! That is the kind of cancer that is spreading among the team. ME and not WE.

If you don’t compare and mimic what the best teams are doing, then what are you doing?

  67. 813bucboi Says:

    @REALIST….

you make yourself sound dumber everyday!!!!!….what owner in their right mind would show support in this staff after all the blow outs and being unprepared…..you wanting the glazers to show support…lol….nawl they’ll likey show dirk and smitty the door first…..your coaches have failed!!!!…the last thing we need to see is Winston and evans waste another year in their prime with these incompetent coaches…..GO BUCS!!!!

  68. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan

Actually, I saw him out there. You just missed him.

  69. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @813bucboi

Realist and I have had our share of differences over the years…but he’s got tons more credibility than you. Sorry to break it to you.

  70. ElioT Says:

There are NO valid excuses for Koetter, Jameis and this offense.

The Bucs are so loaded and healthy at the skill positions that you can’t get them all on the field at the same time.

You’ve got a #1 QB in the same system for three seasons now.

This offense should be able to execute any play you could possibly imagine.

    So why do they struggle?

    – Jameis’ shoulder is a bigger problem than we’re lead to believe. If this is the case, it’s time to see what Fitz or Griffin can do with all these weapons.

    – Jameis is missing wide open targets on a far too frequent basis. You can bet your a** Mike Evans and D-Jax are not happy about this and it’s only a matter of time before they broadcast such.

    – Jameis is always looking for the home run play, holding the ball too long which leads to him hitting receivers at the last minute, giving them no time to get YAC and/or getting crushed by defenders as soon as the catch is made.

    – Where are the methodical plays, timing routes, quick passes, and general creativity?

    – Koetter’s scheme and play calling are too predictable and easily defended by good defenses.

    – The Bucs have not established the run in any f**king game and we’re mid-way through then year!!! Koetter either gets too pass happy or the defense is getting prison raped and they’re too far behind on the score board to run the ball.

This team is a f**king mess right now.

Playoff chances are over before Halloween and that’s simply unacceptable.

    Everyone should be held accountable.

    Go Sucs!

  71. 813bucboi Says:

In fact, I will say this…if the Glazers fire Koetter this year, I am done

HAUL @$$!!!!! and take @realist and who ever likes watching this staff unprepared this team with you….

@realist…your running out of excuses….HK didn’t cause dirk “NOT” to prepare his team….dirk is not HC material….dirk and smitty must go fishing…ASAP!!!….This team will be nothing more than a 6-10 team at best….GO BUCS!!!!

  72. Destinjohnny Says:

Can we call it the chucky curse ?

  73. tmaxcon Says:

    813bucboi

you don’t get a lifetime pass for a win 16 years ago… raise your standards

it’s a what have you done for me yesterday world. simple as that.

living IN or ON the past is never successful.

  74. feelthepewterpower Says:

20 mph winds joe. Plus, buffalo is an overrated defense.

  75. 813bucboi Says:

Realist and I have had our share of differences over the years…but he’s got tons more credibility than you. Sorry to break it to you.

how did you come to that conclusion?…..what has he done to show he’s creditable?

sorry to break it to the both of you but you 2 have been dead wrong about dirk and smitty its making the both of you lose creditability!!!!…what happened to the breathe of fresh air?….what happened to us getting better the minute dirk and smitty were hired?….

but as always blame it on HK and dirk having to coach the lovie out of players….BS…GO BUCS!!!!

  76. Pistol Pete Says:

Feels like the players have decided the current coaching staff isn’t working for them….and have decided to mail it in.
Embarrassing, as a fan with such high hopes for the season, watching the coaching carousel fire up again. Longshot but I would like to see Jim Harbaugh get the nod if we can pry him out of Michigan. Guy did wonders with Kap….doubt anyone else could have.

  77. 813bucboi Says:

    tmax….

no ones living in the past…..I stated facts….sapp and booger are superbowl champions….is that not a fact…..

so according to you, we cant count TB12 superbowl win last year because its in the past…..yeah riiigggghhhttt!!!….GOBUCS!!!!

  78. Smokeymountainbucfan Says:

Fortunately for most of us the Glazers are not satisfied with losing. 15 years of losing is not acceptable on any level. One playoff appearance since the super bowl era is pathetic. I have a hard time understanding people who are ok with losing in hopes of maybe winning in a few years! If you don’t and we haven’t then what?

  79. Tampa Bay Tailgater Says:

If you had the choice…would you take

    1) Jon Gruden
    2) A coach similar to the coaching styles of a Doug Pederson (Eagles), Doug Marrone (Jags) or Sean McVay (Rams)?

I would go with the latter…but the risk is finding that diamond in the rough and we all thought (still up for debate) Dirk was that diamond.

I really like Dirk a lot but after seeing yet another flat game, there is some learning curve there that he hasn’t figured out.

I would rather give him one more year but that’s just my opinion.

  80. 813bucboi Says:

Vernon Hargreaves (who is steadily improving; just not fast enough for fans)
Noah Spence (who was set to take a leap forward but got injured)
Ryan Smith (who looked pretty freaking good yesterday, and is slowly getting better)
Tampa fans are blind. They let their emotions cloud their judgement

THATS A LIE!!!!….we had to sit here and watch smitty force ryan smith and VHG to play in a scheme that doesn’t put them in position to be successful….it only took smitty 6games to figure out they are man press cbs…..if smitty forces them to play off next week it will be back to the same ole BS….

these coaches are incompetent….last years season looks like a big fluke….similar to rah’s 10-6 season….the difference is rah aint have no where near as much talent….GO BUCS!!!!

  81. Smokeymountainbucfan Says:

Who cares who has credibility or not. This is just a sports blog about a team we have all obviously followed for many years. Just because you show up everyday and post makes one more credible than the other?? Whatever! The Browns will probably take a few more fans that are ok with being a freaking loser! Really, how in the hell can someone say I’m ok with losing just done fire another coach! Honeymoon is over, marriage didn’t work! Credibility? Lol Who the hell do some of y’all think you are? Joebucsfan hall of famers? Ok

  82. GhostofSchiano Says:

JOE SAYS – Damn, this team is so schizophrenic.

No, this team is SHAT. Plain and simple. They play like it, they look like it on the field. Pure SHAT

Need some coaching changes (Maybe not HC) but some change needs to come.

  83. BigMacAttack Says:

Does this mean Dirk is taking the Gator job?

  84. GhostofSchiano Says:

I called stub hub to sell my tickets for this game, the only offer I got was $200. And that was I PAY $200 for someone to take my tickets.

    It’s a BUCS LIFE!

  85. GhostofSchiano Says:

813bucboi Says …..if smitty forces them to play off next week it will be back to the same ole BS….

    Agreed

  87. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Buccaneer Bonzai it was only on Special teams. Did not play one series defensively as a Safety. I might have missed it as I was pissed and just running through the recording. I’m just tired of the disrespect he’s getting and all this damn losing!!!!

  88. 813bucboi Says:

    @SMOKEY

and the funniest part about them claiming that they have more creditability is that they fail to explain why they have are so creditable….do they work for the bucs?….are they an ex nfl player?…are they a former scout?….

    nawl…none of the above….GO BUCS!!!

  89. LUVMYBUCS Says:

  90. sickofit Says:

#BringBackGruden…Remember when we fired him for going 9-7 with a less talented roster. This time we wouldn’t handcuff him by giving up two years of 1st and 2nd round picks.

ARIANS, HARBAUGH, GRUDEN, FRAZIER … ALL FOUR MIGHT BE AN UPGRADE … JUST SAYING

  95. lambchop Says:

Koetter is another coach in line that can only survive being a coordinator and not a head coach. He may do well under a Head Coach as the OC, but he obviously can’t do both. He may not even be able to hold onto an OC gig either. He seems overrated. Mike Smith just needs some play makers that aren’t on their way out the league. Where’s Noah Spence’s 10 sacks this year? Oh yea, he dislocated his shoulder again. He’s probably not going to ever be 100% from that recurring injury. Ayers is a geriatric playing the position. Swaggy is in the mold of Haynesworth – lazy and just playing for his contract year. Burnhim “we shoulda got Jalen Ramsey” Hargreaves is soft and too busy wagging his finger for no good reason.

  96. Joeypoppems Says:

    @NFLNut

Wasnt Leslie Frazier fired with Lovie? Why would he want to come back? Lol

  97. Not there yet Says:

I don’t think the Glazer’s should say a single word, it’s not their job to babysit if you’re writing the check to do a job. Dirk’s job is to win this is the kind of adversity coaches deal with. The players deal with it no one should shield Dirk or licht. If the players have to dig themselves out of this hope so does the front office
