New call

Dirk Koetter is back at it with his messaging and themes.

Joe caught wind of this week’s word of the week in the Bucs locker room.

Yes, the internal TV monitors posting player schedules and information are being rotated with a bold message from Coach Koetter dressed up pretty by the Buccaneers’ graphics department.

That’s what Koetter wants from the Bucs this week. Last year, Koetter started with weekly messages and images that extended to players’ Surface tablets for film watching.

Before Week 1, Koetter wanted his team to “EARN IT.” Now he’s moved on to “PASSION.”

That tells Joe Koetter is trying to counter the Week 2 malaise and we-got-this attitude Tampa Bay brought to Arizona last year for a brutal spanking at the hands of the Cardinals.

After what I saw in the final minute of the first half, going for points over playing it safe (ala Lovie) I can honestly say I LOVE KOETTER!!!!

What a refreshing style of play for this team. GO BUCS

  2. DB55 Says:

But according to the posters on JBF you don’t need to be passionate to play football. You just need a beautiful smile and a pleasant personality. Especially if you play in the trenches. Smh 🤦‍♂️

  3. Pickgrin Says:

Passion comes naturally when you truly LOVE what you are doing.

Jason Licht has assembled a group of passionate football players. Many of these mostly young men are not only extremely talented and athletically gifted – but their passion for the game runs deep.

Starting with Jameis Winston and Kwon Alexander – this team’s collective desire to be the best – to WIN and do so as a FAMILY is what is special about this team and as the season unfolds – is exactly what will fuel the drive for a 2017 Championship Run.

  4. DB55 Says:

You guys remember Mike Evans rookie year when “they” said he was too passionate? Lol, clowns.

  5. Pickgrin Says:

To DB and all the other “93isacancer” trolls likely to chime in here – if you couldn’t see from watching Hard Knocks that GMC loves the game of football and works as hard at his craft as just about anyone – then your perspective needs adjusting. I will leave it at that and let those who wish to continue making themselves look silly by dissing GMC do so.

  6. ECREDIBLE22 Says:

I think what he means is passion to WIN you got to want it that’s just my opinion

  7. SB Says:

There is a HUGE difference between ‘passion’ and ‘trash talking’. I am and have always been a fighter. I won’t say a word while I am Whooping someone’s ass, but I guarandamtold you I am passionate while doing it.

  8. stpetebucsfan Says:

Some people confuse “passion” with being an asswhipe or numbskull. In his rookie year ME13’s passion if that’s what you wish to call it was totally counterproductive. Arguing with refs every play and whining about lack of penalties called may seem passionate to some here….I view it as out of control.

Moncken has really helped ME13 harness his passion and he is now a great player.

Trash talking is….trash talk…it’s not passion. Passion is when you put in the work behind the scenes and do what it takes to be the best. Talk is cheap. It’s #3 being the first in the facility…it’s Kwon meeting early with Smitty…it’s Beckwith seeing that and joining the early meetings…it’s the work in the weight room…that’s passion!

If folks like #3 want to get all rah rahed up before games I’m fine with that to a point…. but one of #3’s greatest weaknesses prior to this preseason was coming out like a dude juiced on Red Bull laced with speed. He played out of control!!! That’s why so frequently throughout his career both here and at FSU he would fall behind. Passion is only good if you harness it properly.

I think that’s one of the biggest improvements I’ve seen from #3 this year. He looks calm and in command of the huddle from the first snap…doesn’t take him until the 2nd Quarter to settle down anymore.

DB55 – go watch the 1st defensive snap of the Chicago game and then tell all of us how much 93 sucks. I am thrilled 93 in on our team, and think you’re a lonely child.
