No Playoff Consensus For The Bucs

September 7th, 2017

No love from Brady Quinn or his sidekick

There is plenty of national buzz for your beloved Buccaneers, but there also are sound minds who don’t believe in Tampa Bay.

Joe often listens to Brady Quinn and Bruce Murray on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Quinn, the ex-QB, and Murray, certainly do their homework and interview people around the league, in addition to traveling to games and events.

So Joe was a bit irked yesterday to hear that Quinn and Murray don’t have the Bucs on their playoff radar.

Quinn’s NFC playoff seeds are as follows:

Green Bay
Seattle
Atlanta
Giants
Dallas
Minnesota

To make matters worse, Murray doesn’t have the Bucs as a playoff team, and he has the Saints and Lions earning Wild Card berths in the NFC.

Murray even extended his prediction, saying the Panthers and Cowboys would be Wild Card bubble teams. So that means, with Atlanta as his projected NFC South winner, Murray puts the Bucs at the bottom of the division.

These are just predictions. Joe is simply sharing national perspective from voices Joe respects.

Regardless, it’s a very rough road for the Bucs in a brutally tough division. Joe sure hopes the Bucs can battle to a 10-5 record (aka winning two out of three) and then close out the season at home against the Saints.

    Making a comeback Brady?

  2. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Don’t really care what they think. Czre what our players think.

  3. Dewey Selmon Says:

It’s the bye week! It’s the bye week!

  4. Q Says:

It sucks we have to wait another week to prove to people the team were going to be

  5. Defense Rules Says:

Respect needs to be earned in the NFL, and the Bucs haven’t earned it yet … but we will, this year. If Quinn & Murray want to be wrong and pick the Falcons & Saints, that’s their prerogative. We know better.

  6. SOEbuc Says:

I…DON’T…CARE what ANY of these guys “think” is going to happen. Get to AT LEAST week 5 (got NYG and NE back to back) than I might start listening to you.

  7. DB55 Says:

They said the same thing on Inside the NFL last night.

  8. Lamarcus Says:

From SB contender to basement dewellers all in 1 off season

  9. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Bucs defense looks average to below avaerage but the offense SHOULD light up the scoreboard despite the preseason showing if OL holds up…bucs should get 10 wins but 8-8 is something that may happen

  10. NOSBOS Says:

green bay has no defense same as last season, hawks just lost they’re starting left tackle on a line thaw already patchwork, dallas no defense, giants no O line no running game, atl solid, minnesota really sam Bradford. Yea right.

  11. Motley CrueHead Says:

Really The Vikings Lions or Saints ahead of the BUCS? I though they were good at their job boy am I wrong about them!

  12. darin Says:

Hey theres only gona be 1 team Every “expert” is gona pick to be in the playoffs this year. Some guys will be loved by certain teams some not so much. None of us really know whats gona happen. So oh well to these guys. I do know Im dropping some money on the bucs to win the super bowl at 50-1 tho. Count me in as a believer. Go Bucs

  13. JAB83 Says:

Average to below average on D??? I’m betting LVD, KA, GMC, BG, VHIII and your newest badass Safety Mr Ward might have something to say about what the new bar for average to below average looks like.

Can’t imagine a more stacked D… And thats just the proven talent.

Im sure Beck and #57 along with a certain Swaggy (not the kind you smoke) will be factors as well…

    Average….. LOL….. SMH

  14. stpetebucsfan Says:

I get the Falcons. Can sort of understand the Panthers…but the Saints…c’mon man. Where did they purchase a defense. Brees can only carry them so far without a D.

Doesn’t matter though. I love being the underdog. Let’s just march out and kick the efffing door in!

  15. unbelievable Says:

I don’t know why people would think our defense would be worse than last year.

At worst case, it should be the same (which was pretty decent the last 8 games of the season).

The offense should absolutely be improved, so even with a tougher schedule, I think 9 wins in our floor. I mean, we are currently undefeated…. 🙂

  16. webster Says:

Guys no need to get upset or feel direspected if not everyone believes the bucs will make the playoffs. The truth is the nfc is tough and there are a lot of teams that on paper looks really good with the bucs being one of them. Lets just watch the season and see how it plays out. None of us know what will happen and thats why they play the games.

  17. James Walker Says:

    He has Jameis envy.

  18. JAB83 Says:

Bucs home opener is in jeopardy. Same circumstances are likely this time next week.

Exception being, it is not likely we are gonna dodge a more direct hit.

I work for the Bucs. If Jose is in the Keys come Friday or Saturday of NEXT week.

I wont be there to serve you folks… Just saying… Heads UP!!!!

  19. Bucsdeluge Says:

JAB83.. I don’t know where you get your information, but Hurricane Jose is “NOT” forecasted to come our way at all. there will be no issue with next weeks game.

As far as the Quinn opinion, I don’t take much out of it.. people always like to take the attractive stances.. Atlanta will not be the same as last year. the main reason for their success (shanahan) is gone.. you can bet that. Cam just doesn’t look the same since his disappointing Superbowl year. And although the Saints defense has looked better in the preseason, I wouldn’t put all my apples in that basket. Heck! they threw all their validity out the window when they put the Vikings and Lions in their picks. Lets face it folks,, every year we see these kind of comments, and they never come to fruition. we have seen the consistent improvement of our team, with the inclusion of key pieces in prime spots. I am very confident in what we have, and look forward to this year. GO BUCS!!!

  20. JAB83 Says:

Whats that… A lot of writing that I wont read because you start your dissertation with foolish accusations.

    Try again smarty pants

  21. JAB83 Says:

Oh, well, your insightful piece on Mr Quinn “opinion”. Is ah, well your opinion sucks so I will stick with Mr Quinn.

We are in jeopardy of over hype as a team. Mr Quinn is what you call an analyst.

Just like I have done with Jose. I have analyzed it.

I bet Mr Quinn and I have more validity in our opinion than you do with your opinion.

Why be difficult. Just keep you opinions to yourself next time in your Deluge of an opinions.

  22. tnew Says:

The one thing that I will predict with 100% certainty is that Brady Quinn is not 100% in his projections.

  23. Kelly Pearson Says:

I want Coach K to tell the team that they are not going to play 16 games in a row. They are going to play 18 games in a row including playoffs! Furthermore they are going to have a bye week too. They will have to earn it . It’s the week between the NFC Championship game and the Super Bowl. Go Bucs!!!

  24. NOSBOS Says:

I wanna see bradford lead anything to the playoffs.

  25. DB55 Says:

It won’t be Bradford it will be the defense of Zimmer. Although to your point I’ve never seen a defense carry an offense to the playoffs much less a SB. NEVER! I can’t think of any at all.

  26. JAB83 Says:

    LOL… @ DB

This is how you KNOW a jokester from a TROLL…

    I Heart You DB55!!!

  27. Dave Pear Says:

    DB55,

    Drops mic.
    But WTF do you know?

  28. Dave Pear Says:

    Joes,

    ? Moderation? Really?

  29. JAB83 Says:

@ Dave… Yeah Moderation… Thats where facts get you these days on the web…

  30. NOSBOS Says:

The closest thing would be the 2002 ravens.

  31. DB55 Says:

Or the Tampa bay Buccaneers led by Warren Sapp, Derek Brooks and John -I’ll take mcnichols and make him a star- Lynch. But wtf do I know?

  32. NOSBOS Says:

With that being said I personally don’t see mike zimmer’s defense being on the brink of being an All time great defense in the history of the nfl. They’ll be good but not that good.

  33. DB55 Says:

Lmao joe you moderating my tag line now? Too funny! Ty for the vote of confidence.

  34. DB55 Says:

They went 8-8 last yr with no WRs or RBs. They had 6 pro bowlers all on defense. Ijs

  35. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Love how joe just LOVES to agree with EVERY negative take he reads. Such a flip flopped. U said on iras podcast last week that u predicted 10-6

  36. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Dang I really like this Kareem Hunt.

  37. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Sombody just lost their chain

  38. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    LETS GO CHIEFS!!!!!

  39. DB55 Says:

That almost catch by gronk was pretty sick. Hunt looks strong too.

  40. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    God I hate the belicheats

  41. SB Says:

With Brady’s knowledge of the QB position I understand why he has no clue!

  42. DoNUTS Says:

This whole Buc-Fish-Irma missed game nightmare reminds me of when I was in highschool and I was trying to impress the hottest cheerleader in my school by revving my engine and it backfired and startled her. We were so damn close to watching “toe meets leather” (Deckerhoff voice) this week.

  43. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    ^^^^^
    Your fiat?

  44. Wesley Says:

Well if Brady Quinn says so.

  45. Buc believer Says:

We all know that Brady Quinn has a TON of rings so he is an expert after all.

The closest thing would be the 2002 ravens.

    —————-

Huh? 2000 Ravens you mean… or 2002 Bucs? Don’t forget the Bears of 85. Those teams couldn’t have made the playoffs if their defenses were simply average.
