“We Just Don’t Get Single Coverage On Mike Very Often”

September 17th, 2017

New order shows up early

Call it the DeSean Jackson Effect, or the result of too many Bucs weapons.

Or perhaps it was just stupidity by the Bears.

Regardless, Dirk Koetter said he saw a welcome and rare sight today when Mike Evans caught his 13-yard touchdown pass to give Tampa Bay a 9-0 lead. America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, walked up to the line of scrimmage and he (and Koetter) saw 1-on-1 coverage on Evans.

Last year, that was about as common as Joe watching what he eats on Thanksgiving.

“We just don’t get single coverage on Mike very often,” Koetter said after the game.

As predicted, the addition of Jackson, along with O.J. Howard and friends, made a difference today. And it didn’t take long.

Evans picked up where he left off last year’s Pro Bowl season, finishing with seven catches for 93 yards and a touchdowns — plus the bonus of fewer guys hanging on his back.

Mike might have rough sledding against Xavier next week in Viking land … Antonio Brown caught just 5 of 11 targets for 62 yards and no scores … but Steelers #2 Martavis Bryant had a big day so I’m thinking Desean Jackson could be our star next week.

I expect a very tough game in Minny … and I hope Dalvin Cook doesn’t kill us.

Right now, I’ll say Bucs 20-17

Greg Olsen broke his foot … 10 years with no serious injury and now this at 32 years old …

What happened to Sam Bradford? I saw him in street clothes on the sidelines at the end of the game.

  4. NFLNut Says:

Bradford took a game off as he had a sore knee … he’s expected to start against us next week I believe

Greg Olsen for real broke foot? too bad
glad our guys got through(I think) relatively unscathed
Bradford has swelling in left knee-the one with 2 acl repairs no structural damage though per mri

ME gone use Rhodes next week and that’s coming from a FSU

  7. stpetebucsfan Says:

THX for the Bradford info guys. I don’t wish ill on anybody but I wouldn’t mind facing the Vikes without Bradford.

  8. Brandon Says:

Sorry, but Brown not playing well against Rhodes is a lot different than ME going against him. If Rhodes was assigned to cover Brown, he’ll probably draw Desean in one-on-one. Teams generally cover their littles and bigs with the same guys. Evans will be this week’s Bryant and Jackson will be Brown.
