Haters Gonna Hate

September 24th, 2017

Bad news, haters.

This is going to cause a lot of folks to get their boxers bunched up.

The shrill, vocal minority of Bucs fans who bellyache about stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy apparently are not fond of reality. Take the latest, from of all places, the PFF tribe.

Nathan Jahnke has watched the film and punched the numbers on his keyboard and has determined no one in the NFL currently playing the interior of a defensive line is as gifted a pass rusher as GMC.

Behold are Jahnke’s findings.

Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has gotten pressure one in every three of his pass-rushes. That is the best rate for any interior defender with at least 20 rushes at this point of the season.

But, Joe knows the GMC haters will come out of the wordwork and scream how he should be run out of town on the first available bus. It reminds Joe what his good friend, “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig, often says: Folks hear what they want to hear; see what they want to see; believe what they want to believe.”

Facts and common sense be damned.

All that is great, but you’re ignoring what’s most important – how many tackles does he have. According to the geniuses on this site, that is what’s most important. Besides, how many strip sacks recovered and ran back for TDs does he have late in the fourth quarter with the game on the line? Until then, he’s not any good.

  2. Reverse Joe Says:

Even though I agree with everything here. Its hard to take anything seriously from PFF. I’m NOT a fan of stat geeks ugh. But yes the haters will find a way to hate. Its what they do best.

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

Strange, the only D-lineman that we saw make a splash play was NS57!!!! But Joe has said repeatedly that he is only a backup!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!

  4. Dreambig Says:

Ha! Isn’t it great when good guys win! GMC is a class act on and off the football field and a man who should be a role model for all. He is a different kind of leader than Jameis but he inspires his teammates through hard work, competance, sportsmanship, and in other ways. Oh I am sorry, I used a word that the haters never learned. Let me help with a definition. Sportsmanship: The conduct (such as fairness, respect for one’s opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing) becoming to one participating in a sport

  5. Easy Denman Says:

GMAC 93 is a game wrecker. We’ve wasted the better part of his years by not getting him any help

  6. 207bucsfan Says:

Its crazy the hate for the best 3 tech in the league. He is always getting doubled or tripled team and still leads our team in sacks. I could only imagine how people would see him if he was on a different team. People that hate don’t know football and don’t know what they see on tape. #respectgreatness

  7. darin Says:

    Real?ist
Only Dlinemen we?? saw was 57?? Whos we? The bears had what 20 yards rushing n we?? only saw 57 making spalsh plays?? Watch the games from a different perspective and we?? might see more. I know I saw quite a few splash plays by the linemen. N Im sure Joe has said 57 is a backup simply because he isnt a starter, hence a backup. Ya gota go with the facts. Go Bucs

  8. Erc2706 Says:

I’m a hater of GMC the football player. It bugs me how he claims he’s so leader yet seemed very sour when our qb took over the team without even trying. But what I hate to hear most is how great he is.

GMC is a very good player. But great no. I watched the rams game and I swear you heard arron donalds name every series. I mean EVERY SERIES! That guy makes plays all game long. GMC disappears far too many times and for far too long during games. I understand being disruptive. I admit he’s a good player.

But elite no he’s not. I can think of 4 DT’s that wreck havoc through every game they play. Even getting double teamed. Now if GMC plays like he did all year like he did against Chicago. I’ll put him in that category. But I haven’t seen him do that a entire season yet.

Hard knocks made me a lover of GMC the person though. I’d just like to see him destroy a team’s gameplan the entire game week after week and love to hear his name called for making a play. Not for how great he is. Cause on Sundays it’s all about the plays you make. Not your man cave!!!

  9. tmaxcon Says:

He’s the face of the basement years no matter how many meaningless stats you produce. Good player that is a career loser those are the only facts that matter.

Funny all the crybabies moaning about barker missing game but nobody and I mean nobody has been listed on more injury reports than the fragile ice cream man 119 nfl game weeks in his career and his been listed or out of games 103 weeks that’s fragile anyway you look at it. He will be our by week eight and irrelevant then you fools will have to find another career loser to support.

Kwon has take over games hell even a journeyman bum Tandy has taken over more games than the overPaid coach killing windbag cancer93

GMC IS THE FACE OF THE BASEMENT YEARS PERIOD

  10. stpetebucsfan Says:

Yeah TMAX because we all know that Ernie Banks sucked too right. He was the face of the Cubbies basement years..

That was a truly moronic post. It was so pathetic I’m not going to waste a second googling and looking up ALL the GREAT players who were drafted by bad franchises and became the “face of the basement”.

Just off the top of my head I guess that means Joe Thomas is a horrible right tackle by your logic

  11. Dreambig Says:

Tmax – keep fighting that windmill Don Quixote!

  12. Joe Says:

He’s the face of the basement

LOL Gotta admit, that’s a good one. 🙂

  13. tmaxcon Says:

I’d appreciate it very much if one of you fans of mediocrity and losers can explain to me if GMC, Dotson, Martin, Vjax etc etc etc were such outstanding players and ring of honor types why they needed a pair of 20 year old kids to teach them how to win? Make NO mistake about it that is exactly what happened when Kwon and Jameis took over. These holdover losers you guys have a love affair with needed children to teach them how to win. Winning is all that matters everything else is an excuse. Old bucs are proven losers the new bucs give us hope.

  14. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

“People hear what they want to hear!” Wow, pot meet kettle. I am a big GMC fan, but Joe you constantly berate PFF and claim fans who use those stats to bash the line are foolish. Yet here, when it benefits you narrative, you do exactly that. That is the epitome of hearing what you want to hear and reading what you want to read!
One Joe on this site stopped reading the PFF nonsense long ago and never quotes it, the other maintains a small percentage of the PFF data is worthwhile. This must be one of those times.–Joe

  15. tmaxcon Says:

    st pete

it’s a team sport and your girl was the face of the franchise and LEADER of the team. No other team captain or buc great has led so many embarrassing blowouts as the leader of the losing culture cancer93. The teams record proves that. sure good players get stuck on bad teams all time but those same players did not assume the face of the franchise role while disappearing when their teams needed them most. how’d the soft one fair against cowboys last year???? I guess you forgot he was abused like a craigslist one night stand. The best players play their best when it matters most see kwon, see james but you damn sure don’t see GMC

  16. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Keep going tmax. With each post, you look dumber than the last.

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Such a merry-go-round with you, tmax.

Only YOU would expext one man to do the work of 22.

  18. Big Stinky Says:

GMC is good but he is NOT great. He doesn’t set sack goals like Sapp did and may NEVER get over 10 sacks like the great ones do. Love his personality but he is NO #99. The Bucs have NOT been able to pressure the QB since he got here, even though I don’t blame that entirely on him. I think Simeon Rice was the last DL to break 10 sacks, so it has been quite a few years. He has NEVER even gotten us to the Playoffs even with the talent around him. Glad he is on our team though, just wish we got more out of him. Playoffs or Bust! Go BUCS!

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Big Stinky Says:
“GMC is good but he is NOT great. He doesn’t set sack goals…”

Not true. He set a goal of 10 last year. Maybe he’s just decided to avoid predictions and just do it.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Also, just what talet has been around him? On the defensive line?

Couldn’t you say the same about several players? Lavante David for example? David has done next to nothing.

What talent exactly is around McCoy on defense? Kwon. That’s it.

  21. Dave Says:

Every real Buc fan that has an inkling of football knowledge knows McCoy is an elite DT.

It’s the ignorant pseudo fan that thinks otherwise

  22. Reach87 Says:

Thanks for recycling your moronic logic again Tmax. I think name calling is next on your moronic cycle of obsession with arguably our best defensive player. (Ask for facts, ignore facts, point at Bucs record or “culture”, ignore facts about other losing teams, name call, repeat cycle). Pitiful and moronic.

Need 4 good quarters and to limit Vikes’ TOP today to win like we should.
    Go Bucs!

  23. Buc4lyfe79 Says:

Theres tmax right on schedule sharing his “mo” love for #93…in a world filled with so much hate, we could all take a lesson from the kind of closet love tmax has for GMC. You know its sincere guys.
