Noah Spence Says He Blew Out His Shoulder, Popped It Back In But Couldn’t Compete

September 24th, 2017

Noah Spence has shoulder troubles again.

Oh, boy.

UPDATED: 4:47 p.m.

Joe is no doctor, but Noah Spence having offseason shoulder surgery and now having more shoulder problems in the same shoulder adds up to a giant mess.

Spence told Joe in the locker room that he blew out his shoulder on his first snap, popped it back in and then was ineffective after that.

A quick review of the TV replay shows Spence appearing to ask out of the game with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Vikings had a 3rd-and-2 on their 23 yard line. Spence hustles downfield to help on a swarm tackle of the receiver and he sits up (not stands up) holding his right shoulder. He did not return.

Brutal times for the Bucs defense. So many starters are beat up and it’s still September.

[UPDATED: 4:47 p.m.] Joe just got back from the locker room and he chatted with Spence for a while. What a warrior this guy is. Had to have his shoulder popped back in during the game? And it was the same shoulder as his injury last year.

Spence is a way cool dude and he was frustrated, so frustrated, it almost seemed like he wanted to cry. He kept muttering foul words under his breath because of the bad luck. He told Joe he had so many moves he wanted to use today, so many different techniques he thought would surely harass Case Keenum.

But he never got a chance to use any of those moves. When he tried to play through the pain, his right arm was virtually useless, he said.

Remember how on a Sunday Night Football game when Luke Kuechly was concussed and he began tearing up when told he would have to leave the field? That’s sort of what Spence looked like in the locker room. Frustrated isn’t the right word to use for what was circling in his head.

Let Joe just say this: Noah Spence, warrior.

    Where is NOSBOS?

Big talk from a little man last week.
Don’t tell me you went bye bye after one loss?

    We couldn’t be that lucky.

    Go Bucs!

  2. johnnybuc Says:

it’s gonna be on jameis and the offense to step up make plays to win the game. jameis needs to learn to stop pressing when trying to come back. the 2nd and 3rd ints were inexcusable. forced throws into triple coverage!! other options on the field were open but jameis got locked on to his man and forced it. it’s concerning that this has been his problem his whole career and hasn’t seemed to be fixed. with all the new weapons it was supposed to help jameis and let him go to his 2nd and 3rd read it it just seems like the same old story with him right now… maybe this is just who jameis is witch quite frankly is not good enough …

same shoulder ?…or the good one ?….journalism 101….

  4. MadMax Says:

Im so sorry Spence….hope you recover well…..and please dont support your fellow kneelers.

  5. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Someone new here has no valid right to talk smack to a veteran poster in my opinion.

    We are made of GLASS

  7. Rod Munch Says:

johnnybuc – The 2nd INT was Jackson not running the right route – how exactly is that on Jameis? In the NFL you throw to a spot and expect your guy to be there, and Jackson wasn’t there.

When you’re on the road against a top defense and you get down huge early so the other team knows you’re just going to throw the ball over and over, this is what happens.

I mean for Gods sake people, we’re Bucs fans, we’ve historically been the one with that top defense that eats up QBs like Favre for breakfast on the road. That is what happens in the NFL. Winston was fine today, he pressed when the game was out of reach, that happens.

  8. Mr. E Nigma Says:

Looks like David will miss serious time. Alexander will need weeks to rest hammy or risk the season. McCoy will be milking that ankle for half a season as usual. Spence will be out for weeks or longer. No cbs. Giants and Pats coming up. Recipe for disaster. I hope “Swaggy” gets over the flu. Where was Ayers and McDonald? I don’t remember hearing their name all game.

  9. JameisDungy Says:

Enough about the AC/DC loving GM.

Enough of the “Stick Carrier” played out motto from the HC.

And as much as I love Jameis, ENOUGH of the rah rah speeches and you still throw into triple coverage regardless.

Maybe SKIP Bayless of all people was right. Maybe the HC and GM are just average? Their mediocrity leaks down into the offense. We’ve got no shot without a running game. Whose fault is that?

Licht knew all offseason that Doug wasn’t accountable. Then I hear he really tried to trade up for Cook? BS! Throw in next year’s 2nd round pick if you had too. We needed a fricking good RB and we blew it. The draft was loaded with them and we still missed out.

Koetter….why does his play calling get so predictable near the red zone? Why don’t we use Jameis mobility? Hell Jameis mobility his rookie year made Koetter look better than he was.

Jameis….He’s just 23 so I’m hoping he can get this figured out. Takes it personal and gets better.

However, Dirk and Licht have been around this league long enough….they’re average. Unless Jameis takes a major step in his development and starts carrying this team they will all continue to be so.

  10. RayJameisStadium Says:

    There goes the playoffs!!!

    Back down to earth!!!!

No Spence…. No threat for opposing QBs.

This team has to become an offensive power house if we are to sniff the possibility of Playoffs.

  11. Rod Munch Says:

Joe please ban Ira from ever again running a story talking about how healthy the team is… I love Ira, but man, I knew the team was cursed the moment I saw that article. I don’t believe in magic or any of that stuff, but the football Gods are real and if you taunt them it’s all over for you.

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

We had more injuries than that:

    Gerald McCoy
    Noah Spence
    Lavante David
    Robert Ayers
    TJ Ward
    Ryan Smith
    Vernon Hargreaves

And lets not forget the ones who were on the injury list already:

    Kwon Alexander
    Brent Grimes
    Chris Baker

All on defense. 10 players. That’s the biggest reason we lost.

Well, that, the refs and our QB having a horrible day.

  13. passthebuc Says:

    @Munch

a good QB can tell if someone is covered. He also can tell that someone missed their route by 10 yards. If everyone keeps Jamis above reproach, he will never improve.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

If Spence is out perhaps J Smith can get back on the field. They didn’t put him on the PUP list so I assume he’s almost ready to play or else they wouldn’t waste a roster spot on him.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

passthebuc – Did you ever watch football before? In the NFL people are almost never open, unless they’re playing against Ryan Smith. Evans is NEVER open. If you think in the NFL you only throw to open guys then you don’t get how the NFL works and should stick to college ball.

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @JameisDungy

To you and anyone else talking like you. Don’t want to have faith? Move on. Don’t torture us with the negativity.

Look at it this way…things could be worse. The injuries could have struck both sides of the ball. At least this way we still have a chance if the offense kicks it into high gear.

I wonder how many players will be placed on IR tomorrow or Tuesday…

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @Rod Munch

Great point about JSmith. The only problem is, how long will he last once back?

Bet they activate Bully though. Opportunity knocks. Beckwith will have to fill in for David. That means Bully with become the new backup and rotational player.

He’ll get his chance to grow and prove himself.

  18. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I’m done. Winston wasn’t great, but I’m more pissed about the D. All offseason long we’ve heard about all of our depth. Well, we used our depth tonight, and it’s not depth, it’s trash. Maybe 8 or 9 wins but no playoffs again.😢

  19. Mike Johnson Says:

Shut up buc Bonzai..this is america. The man can speak his peace. He’s right. The Hype is over. No excuses now. Every team has injuries. Don’t get mad. Injuries are only..plausible pretext bad teams..hide behind! We got lot more losses comin!
    GO BUCS….nEXT!

  20. Ana Says:

    Skip Bayless😂😂😂

  21. Rads Says:

Cameron Lynch will be asked to step up. Nothing stings like losing David though.

  22. dmatt Says:

Jameis is playing timid n scared. He played better during his rookie year. After Evans rage on the sideline before Jameis threw an int while trying to pass to him while he was in triple coverage reminds me of when JFreeman threw an int while trying to please Winslow after he pouted when he didn’t throw his way. Had Winston brought us back n tied we would’ve eventually lost in OT because we couldn’t stop the Vikings pass game n we had no pass rush. Our OL cannot run block.

  23. Rod Munch Says:

But Mike Johnson – You’re the one telling Bonzai to shut up… wait doesn’t he have the right to speak as well? I’m not sure you get how speech works.

  24. Ana Says:

Be cautiously optimistic! Remember, “any given Sunday “!

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

Rod, My speech works like the Donalds.

  26. sorryitriggeredyou Says:

@Dooshlarue LOL NOSBOS a no show. Partying because the Pats won. Fak NOSBOS and the rest of his circle jerk team and dbag55.

  27. sorryitriggeredyou Says:

but sorry for Spence man tough tough loss. I feel good about Jaquies and Ryan Russell tho, so not all hope is lost.

  28. BushidoEvans Says:

    @MadMax get a clue.

  29. Kobe Faker Says:

“Who said that the 2016 draft was going to be the worst draft in the history of the Bucs franchise?”

    Kobe Faker

  30. DoNUTS Says:

J Smith hasnt played in a year+. Your dreaming if you think we can hitch our def wagons to him. Spence is too light for NFL and easily hurt. This experiment is over. At some point, the Bucs will draft a legit DE in round 1. This team has no DEF pressure ability….every QB knows it so they wait until the play opens up now. This is the new strategy.

This might be the worst total team loss I have seen in over 5 years. We were beat in every phase of the game by a lesser team on paper…and OUTCOACHED.

  31. unbelievable Says:

Serious vibes to Spence and David.

Hope they recover soon. Tough day for the Bucs.

  32. Issic Haggins Says:

No CB s Licht you are an IDIOT

And it’s not this game I have made this clear for a long time now, btw Jason stuff that cap money in your pillow tonight !!! Really are you really that cocky or just STUPID !!! It’s one or the other and yes I have said without question this mess was coming !!!

Jason all the good things you have done and you ignore Db’s in a passing league , you flipping num skull …………. You will be fired for this and Winstons non improvement . BTW Tell Dirk the vIkings d knew every play , Zimmer was so superior to Dirk it was embarrassing !!!

  33. Jim Says:

I hope we get Kwon, Grimes, Baker, and Jac Smith back next Sunday.

  34. Issic Haggins Says:

Also you clowns , Barber starts and gets 20 carries and maybe then just then you will work to make your best back your best back , Rogers is just done !!! Slower than most freshmen HS players…………. Dirk u Big Dummy if you can’t run you can’t win, what in the hell do you and Licht talk about during the week, really did you think you were going to out rush DCook with Rogers, ReAlly !!!

    U fing clowns

  35. johnnybuc Says:

@rod munch i’m not saying jameis needs to be benched or that i’m completely disappointed in him , but this is year 3 and elite qbs know not to throw those balls he threw. on the one to jackson no matter if jackson ran the wrong route there was 4 defenders in the area and that was a tight tight window. not a throw you really want to make. i know he was trying to make plays to put points on the board but the score in the game was 31-17 we were still very much in the game jameis needs to learn to take what is there. those ints absolutely killed no matter how bad our defense was today we were still in the game to that point surprisingly. it’s on the offense to step up and play better with all the key injuries on defense and today they didnt play well enough.

  36. MadMax Says:

@BushidoEvans, clued in bish, just like the thousands of others turned of by their BS! you and the rest supporting them are the clueless ones….but go ahead!

  37. NFLNut Says:

    ^ Johnnybuc … you’re clueless imho.

Read posts from knowledgeable posters such as Rod and myself and learn because it sounds like you watched an entirely different game and don’t know the history of football.

Jameis’ 2nd pick was on D-Jax running the wrong route. The third pick was a great throw that was in Mike’s hands … and we were down 34-14 at that time … it was desperation time!

People are talking about Brady’s great comeback today because they are highlight-watchers and box-score-readers but the truth is right before the TD pass Brady threw to win the game he threw a horrible, pickable ball that landed in the Texans’ safety’s hands … but he dropped it.

Jameis played a great game … 70% completion rate with 2 drops and one wrong route run … that’s outstanding when one has no running game to speak of and is playing a top 5 defense …

    Wise up kid.

  38. NFLNut Says:

RodMunch … I agree with most of your posts it seems … but … while no one ever seems to be wide open on our team, it’s not like that for many other teams. I’ve watched a ton of Titans games since Mariota was drafted and that dude seemingly ONLY throws to dudes who are wide open … Brady is much the same way as is Alex Smith. Some teams seem to have great systems that do spring guys wide open a lot of the time … we don’t have that.

  39. lambchop Says:

I hope Noah Spence is not Andrew Luck. This is a huge problem if his shoulder is going to be a recurring problem for him. I would rather they shut him down for a while to properly heal. Why did GMC keep coming back to play after his injury, the game was already out of hand.

  40. Saskbucs Says:

This Spence injury is the worst for the Bucs. Not to say he is more important than other guys that got injured but if his already surgically repaired shoulder is coming apart again…. it is a big problem and he may not be able to be counted on going forward. Hope not.

  41. Joe Says:

I hope we get Kwon, Grimes, Baker, and Jac Smith back next Sunday.

Hoping for Jac Smith? You may have the patience of a saint.
