Get Your Popcorn Ready

September 23rd, 2017

Snackworthy.

What a fun mano y mano duel expected for Sunday.

The Vikings have one of the better corners in the game with Xavier Rhodes. The Bucs have one of the better receivers in the game with Mike Evans.

Winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter seems to be looking forward to the match-up.

“If they choose to match Xavier Rhodes up on Mike, that’s one to watch,” Koetter said. “That will be two really good players going at each other, but again we don’t have control over that. We have a ‘what-if,’ but we set our game plan up because we don’t really know so we have to be ready both ways.”

Joe has been monitoring Vikings information and the feeling is the Vikings aren’t sure who to attack with Rhodes, Evans or DeSean Jackson.

That’s what ought to be fun. If the Vikings want Rhodes on Evans, then Jackson will be open. If the Vikings want Rhodes on Jackson, Evans will be open all day long as cornerback Trae Waynes tries to cover him.

In Minnesota, many already are calling Waynes a bust. The 2015 first-round pick (No. 11 overall) was burned twice last Sunday in Pittsburgh. And in Week 1 against the Saints, per BSPN data, Waynes gave up nine receptions on 10 throws in his direction, including a 52-yard bomb to Tommylee Lewis.

Pick your poison guys.

Pretty simple….of course Evans will be covered by their #1. Now its time to see DJax, Godwin, Brate and Howard get some love. I’d let Rhodes cover Evans the whole 1st half and not throw to him once. Then as soon as rhodes isnt covering Evans, the ME13 BOMB!

This is what happens when the “Weapons for Winston” campaign shows its results.

BTW, Saquon Barkley is really catching my eye. Loved the piece they played on him on college gameday. He might be worth trading up for if he’s still there in the 10-15 area….according to how his year goes of course (injury wise).

If I were Minnesota, I would put Rhodes on Jackson with no help, and then double Evans all day long. Either way, we should be able to move the ball and put up points on them.

  3. Pickgrin Says:

Sucks to only have 1 good CB. Especially going up against an offense with multiple good receiving weapons – like ours.

I hope they do put Rhodes on Evans and hope/assume that he can shut Mike down 1 on 1. Mike would still get his catches and at least 60-90 yards and everyone else would have a field day.

Dont remember his name atm, but the Vikes have a smaller speed corner that can hang with Jackson. Rhodes being on Evans does not equal an instant open Jackson.

Dont remembee it being Waynes but hey its been a long week of repair and cleanup

so lets see. Sherman > Rhodes I’m sure we all agree. Evans beat him twice early for tds last season. Im not worried at all whos covering Evans this season. The man is a monster and I agree with coach and Winston that it doesnt matter, I go evans everytime.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

It doesn’t matter if Rhodes is covering Evans or not we all know Winston is still going to throw him the ball and just expect Mike to go up and catch it. Now I don’t know exactly how good Rhodes is but I know the worst matchup Evans had last year was in Arizona against Patrick Peterson, and even in that case Evans had 6 rec for 70 yards and a TD. I think those numbers sound about right. The only downside of the matchup with Peterson getting that early jump ball INT – but Dirk can’t coach being afraid to let his QB make plays – and some of those plays will be mistakes. The Vikings have one of the best defenses in football and going on the road against one of the best defenses almost always means an ugly close game.

  8. JAB83 Says:

Chris Godwin yall… Watch him steal the show this week!!! Bet!!!

  9. James Walker Says:

I am not convinced any corner can “shut down” Jameis+Evans.

  10. SOEbuc Says:

I don’t care who’s going up against Mike. He’s Jameis’ favorite target and they both were on the money with each other last week. Mike is one of the best WR in the NFL so it won’t matter if it’s Rhodes if Jameis can put it in the right spot. I also believe Jameis is going to go all over the field with the rest of the boys.

What about OJ Howard? Ah wait, nevermind, he’s staying in to block ;(

  12. Kobe Faker Says:

    Djax or Me??…neither

Zimmer is coming after Jameis until koetter knows how to design short passes to get the ball out of jameis hands and make the recievers run after catch

    Zimmer scared of Hump?

    “Not so much..free OJ Stocker”

    Kobe Faker

  13. LargoBuc Says:

I hope this isn’t like our second game last year going against Patrick Peterson. Even if it is this defense will make it a moot point.

  14. Dave Says:

Rhodes can’t keep up with djax.
What they should do is put him on ME and gave a CB and safety double djax

  15. Dave Says:

    To finish that thought….
that means godwin and hump and OJ will step up.
It also means ME is open.
I’m convinced now that no one can cover him alone
