Bucs A Unanimous Playoff Pick — In Chicago

September 9th, 2017

Stunning appreciation from the Windy City

Chicago Bears experts seem to be higher on the Bucs than those covering the team in Tampa.

Think the Bucs might have trouble beating the Bears in Tampa Bay’s season opener a week from Sunday?

Then you must not be a Chicago beat writer.

In a stunning display of unity, six members of the Chicago Tribune NFL/Bears coverage team all picked the Bucs to make the playoffs this season. It’s all linked right here.

Brady Quinn and Bruce Murray may think little of the Bucs this season, but there’s a vastly different perspective in Chicago.

Bears beat writer Dan Wiederer thinks Dirk Koetter wins Coach of the Year honors. And well known Brad Biggs believes the Bucs win the NFC South.

Flabbergasting love from the Windy City! And Joe’s not even counting Cubs manager Joe Maddon’s deep appreciation of the transformation of the Bucs.

Of not, all the Bears beat writers surveyed in the story believe Chicago finishes with a 6-10 or 5-11 record.

Folks, if you didn’t know it already, the Bucs simply cannot lose opening day under any circumstances.

Chicago media setting up their Bears to sneak up on the Bucs and win on a soggy RayJay field.
Not buying the love from the Windy City writers.

  2. SB Says:

The one constant I see here other than the Bucs making the playoffs is Christian McCaffery for OROY! I have been saying this since the Panties drafted him. Kid is gonna LIGHT up the league!

  3. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Be careful, SB. We all know that in the comment section you can’t say anything good about anyone on an opposing team. You’re not a “real” Buc fan if you do. Tread lightly.

  4. SB Says:

Good to c u Eric. I hope that LTown makes it through this one ok. My parents live there.

  5. Dave Pear Says:

    SB,
I’ve seen quite a few prognosticators picking D. Cook and J Mixon as well as McCaffery for OROY.

  6. SB Says:

Dave I would bet on CMC over both of those guys with 5 to one odds. He will line up at RB, Slot receiver, WR, PR, and KR!!! The kid can do everything and makes people look Silly when they try to tackle him. We never had a shot at him anyway so I am happy with OJ Howard but barring injuries CMC can’t be stopped.

  7. Dave Pear Says:

    SB,

I’m not taking that bet. I was just saying from what I have read it certainly is not unanimous that McCaffery is a sure bet to win.
Also remember that OROY is somewhat of a popularity contest.
2015- Todd Gurley over Jameis Winston was a travesty.

  8. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    SB, LTown?

  9. SB Says:

Dave…I was saying that in the Link that Joe proided, 5 of Chicago’s Beat writers selected CMC as OROY. Lol I am not a swami, I was just finding it funny that 5 of the 6 writers agree with me.

Eric are you not from Lakeland? I prolly have you mixed up if not.

  10. Dave Pear Says:

    SB,

Gotcha. I had not clicked on to the link. I see it now.

  11. BuccaneEric75 Says:

SB, no, St.Pete. I pray for everyone about to get slammed by Irma. Under different circumstances that wouldn’t sound so bad.

  12. unbelievable Says:

    lol Eric.

Hoping everyone in Florida is safe! Kinda worried that my parents home in Naples won’t be there by next week!

  13. SB Says:

Damn UB! I was born in Naples. I don’t think much is going to survive there. Sorry but true. Did they live in Port Royal? if so then they can afford to rebuild.

  14. JimBuc2 Says:

CMC certainly is talented, OROY, or not. However, let’s just see what happens to the kid when he gets lit up by a thumpin’ DB, say TJ Ward, for instance.

  15. unbelievable Says:

SB- unfortunately no, they’re not flush w/ cash like that 🙂

The worst part is that they have been trying to sell the house!

The only hopeful positive is they are in the Pine Ridge area which is one of the higher elevation areas. But the whole area has been evacuated and the estimated storm surge is anywhere from 3 – 10+ ft in their neighborhood.

Unfortunately it’s not looking good. I may find myself back in Naples next week depending on what happens…

  16. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Good luck, unbelievable. I lived 10 years just west of US19 in Beacon Square up in New Port Richey. That’s an evacuation zone now, about a quarter mile from the Gulf. I’m glad my Mom moved more inland and on a hill.

  17. SB Says:

Well UB I will be there in the Lakeland area helping my parents rebuild. Then I will start working elsewhere. If they don’t get hit too hard then I will be in Sarasota. I hope all is well with you and yours. See you soon I think.

  18. BuccaneEric75 Says:

SB, do you work in construction? How do you get time off to go down south?

  19. SB Says:

Eric. Yes, I am a contractor. Have been my whole life. I am pawning Everything I have here off to others. My Family and Friends are there. I left 14 yrs ago because the money is better here. But I have to come back there for not just my Parents but for my son.Unfortunately the “emergency” money is always good for Contractors but it is Necessary
I will go to Lakeland first if my Parents’ house needs it. Then to Orlando if my Brother’s houses’ need stuff .

  20. SB Says:

    bed now. Peace out.

  21. unbelievable Says:

Thanks guys. Hope all yours are safe as well! and that everyone gets through with minimal damage!
