Buccaneers 29, Bears 7

Once upon a time, Raheem Morris boldly stated, “Stats are for losers.”

Today, Joe suspects Dirk Koetter will say, “Rust is for losers.” The expected rust on your Buccaneers was just a mirage. The malaise and fogginess instead was all over the Bears.

Your Bucs have won five in a row at home!!

So how freaking good are these Bucs?

The defense picked up today where it left off in the second half of last season, which should scare the crop out of the NFL.

Two first-half picks of embarrassing Mike Glennon set the tone and the Bucs played pitch and catch all day long in the passing game.

Kwon Alexander, before his hamstring acted up, was a ball-hawking animal as the Bears drove for an early score that didn’t happen. Free agent nickel cornerback Robert McClain put the icing on the sweet victory cake.

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, took what the defense gave him all day long in the rout of a Bears club that was one play from upsetting the Falcons last Sunday.

It shouldn’t have been that easy for the Bucs, but it was.

Damn, it’s hard not to be overly excited. So just go there, Bucs fans. The greater Tampa Bay area waited too long for this game– and suffered too much. Savor it.

Stick with Joe for all kinds of postgame coverage, including Ira Kaufman’s 10 takeaways and locker room nuggets from the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

Great win but JW’s accuracy was so so. Missed a lot of open throws. Really the only knock on a strong win.

By far and away the most talented team since the Super Bowl run.

  4. NJBucsFan Says:

Great to start the season off with a home win. Our tackles still scare me

  5. SCBucsFan Says:

Matts17 I’m going to chalk those up to rust, but we shall see.

  6. DB55 Says:

Congrats nosbos you were 100 perfect wrong

  7. JohnBoy Says:

This win reminded me of the great Bucs teams of the early aughts. The offense was efficient, the special teams were money (how about our new punter and kicker?) and the defense would give up the dink and dunk but punish the receivers all day long.

Quibbles – JW missed too many easy throws, and there could have been another TD or 2 in the red zone.

  8. DB55 Says:

So who gets the game ball? Spawn, Kwon, LVD or Beckwith.

I’m going with 2 balls to Kwon and Spawn. Kwons int sealed the game and Spawns play broke Glennon spirit.

Side note: baker a no-show on the stat sheet.

  9. NOSBOS Says:

    NJ BucsFan,

Agree on the tackle play. Next draft, first round, best avail player at DE, DT, RB or OT. If it’s OT, then maybe move Smith to the right side. Dot will need to be replaced soon simply due to age. Father time is undefeated. Bucs had a good game overall.

    BUC CAN EERS
    GO BUCS!!!

  18. DB55 Says:

    ………..
NOS stated that this game shouldn’t even be close and he was right. Most of us thought it would be.

  22. DB55 Says:

Yes people! It was sarcasm! Nosbos was yelling all week that the Bucs would spank the bears. AND HE WAS RIGHT!!! I thought my sarcasm would be obvious but wtf do I know!

  23. Bob in Valrico Says:

Hats off to MacClain and his pick six! And kendell Beckwith is so good already
that we need to find a way to keep him on the field,Filling in for Kwon without a hitch at Mike, and playing well at his regular position gets Licht two high fives.
For a big LB Beckwith is surprisingly good in coverage.

  24. Tom Edrington Says:

This should send all members of the Mike Glennon Mob into exile somewhere in South Dakota….

  25. NOSBOS Says:

DB we cool bro, I been on Barcardi rum all day fam. My bad homie.

  26. DB55 Says:

I was wondering. All luv son.

  27. Dooshlarue Says:

Happy for the win, but we still need work.
Not an MGMer but if his receivers wouldn’t have dropped so many All’s, he would have ended up with close to 400 yards.
Yeah he still had all the turnovers but our pass rush and coverage were not that good.
We also had a ton of help with timely penalties from Chicago.

But hey I ain’t complaining, just an observation.

    Go Bucs.
