Trying To Prep For Miami

August 20th, 2017

Preparation.

Those who hung around for the end of training camp today saw something rare. And no, it wasn’t Charles Sims running for 20 yards up the middle.

Fans got to see the Bucs running wind sprints, otherwise known as gassers, to end practice. The team ran sprints the width of the field. Several.

Winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter cautioned those not to read too much into the sprints. It was nothing short of preparation, he said.

“Something we needed to do,” Koetter explained. “We are building to playing a full game on Sept. 10. We have to build towards that.”

Joe can’t remember the last time he witnessed the Bucs run sprints but is sure it wasn’t in the past few years. They are nearly as rare a Sims first down run through traffic. Or an eclipse of the sun.

Maybe they’re showing signs of being out of shape.

Somehow I feel as thought Swaggy is the reason for this.

He probably knows he’s been a little easy on them so far. He’ll push them hard for the next week then let them rest up before week 1. Man I am ready for some real football.
